Doing some last-minute scouting in Xenoblade X and found a bunch of celebrities! It's amazing who you'll run into sometimes.

Made some more little figures that @bonbonbunny got for me! These are from a fantasy-themed series called Gashapon Quest.
I don't know if gashapon figure technology had improved between when these figures and the last one I put together were made, but these two are much more articulated and can bend at the waist. Also, with the other one I had to push the pegs into the joints myself, but with these two the elbows and knees already had their pegs in place.

I am someone who bounced off of this game the first time I played it back when it came out, then came back it it about five years later (after Miiverse was removed along with 99 percent of the playerbase) and now I have just over 200 hours in it. The things that really helped me were as follows.
First, make sure you like your Cross. I wasn't crazy about the first one I made, but I really latched onto my second one. I actually don't play very many games with customizable MCs but even this game and its admittedly limited amount of personality you can impose on them gave me the barest idea of how easy it is for other people to get attached to their Warriors of Light or Grey Wardens or Courier Sixes or whoever else. It doesn't have to be set in stone; you do get the chance later on to change everything about your character except their name, but it's a ways into the main story.
As far as mechanical customization choices go, at least for the main story you should stick to one of the class trees, at least until it's mastered, before you swap onto something else. Most of the things people talk about when it comes to optimization and skill selections don't really matter unless you care about the post game, although the one bit of esoteric knowledge you will probably want to learn is how to maintain an Overdrive with your class, partially to make your life easier and partially because infinite Overdrives are satisfying to do. If you do gel with things, once you start mastering classes and can mix and match your melee and ranged weapons it's a lot of fun to theorycraft new combos and try them out.
For the side missions, everyone talks them up compared to the main story, and they are mostly right to do so because your main character actually gets to be the main character in them, whereas in the story missions it feels more like you're there to support Elma. And as fun as they are, my one bit of advice is that you can walk away from pretty much any of them if you feel like you're underlevelled or underequipped. I am pretty sure one of the things that stopped me dead the first time I played was a side mission that put me against a bunch of skells before i had a skell of my own. I remembered this mission and was more prepared for it the second time around, but what I could have done just as easily was warp away and come back later. You can do that with just about anything except for the character affinity missions. So make sure you always save before starting a character affinity mission.
I'm of two minds when it comes to offering advice or guides on this game. I don't want to make it seem like it's some sort of incomprehensible black box of a game, but at the same time there used to be a much bigger social element to the game that fostered this same sort of assistance, and now that that element is mostly gone I suppose it needs to be replaced with something.
Apologies if this is a bad place to ask this, but I've noticed all the people in the tags getting really enthusiastic about Xenoblade X and I just wanted to ask them all- how? Speaking as someone who really wants to like the game but just sucks real bad at it how do you all get the most out of xbx?
For context, I've played X numerous times but never beaten it, and I've played all the other Xenoblade games and have no trouble with them. But the combination of poor tutorials and so many customisation choices and party members makes it a really overwhelming gameplay experience. So yeah do any of the big X fans have any advice??
Sorry again for putting this in your asks but thanks for the polls you run! I have a lot of fun with them!
