"I don't know" is actually a valid answer. No one should be shamed or judged for admitting that they still have a lot to learn. No one should be looked down on for being mature enough to admit to the gaps in their knowledge.

me watching the Over The Moon trailer: "oh, this will be a cute but generic movie about a girl still believing in a mythical character that all the adults have stopped believing in
me watching Over The Moon: This is a movie about letting go of grief over a lossed loved one and allowing yourself and your heart to move on and I did not expect that and now I'm ugly crying at 4am what the fUCK-

Full offense but you are responsible for curating your fandom experience. You are responsible for making it a fun and safe place for yourself.
Don't like someone? Block.
Don't like a character or ship? Blacklist the tag and stay out of it.
Don't like a trope? Blacklist the tag and stay out of it.
Have boundaries? Enforce them. They're crossed? Block.
Someone asks you to leave them alone? Do it.
People tag triggers and squicks on this site pretty well and if you ask they'll usually tag it for you, so take advantage of it. But just because you're uncomfortable with something doesn't mean no one can make fanwork involving it. (I'm talking about dark topics, not, like, cp or anything else illegal because that is very much not ok)
Don't post hate in the character or ship tags.
Don't insult, harass, or demonize people for liking things you don't. Be mature and move on.
There are, like, actual problems in the world and petty fandom stuff isn't one of them.

can we talk about how fucking exhausting it is constantly trying to distract yourself from your own mind? not being able to have any real time to relax yourself because you’re so terrified of your own head is so mentally and physically draining and if it’s something you’re going through i’m so sorry and i love you. this is a very real and common side effect of depression/anxiety/other mental health issues and more people need to talk about it.

i truly don’t understand the appeal in harassing fanfic writers here on tumblr. i don’t see the point in it generally speaking, but i specifically don’t understand why people have this urge to go hide on anon and leave nasty comments to smut writers.
it’s very simple. you don’t like explicit fics? don’t read them. you don’t like fanfiction in general? don’t read it. it’s very simple.
fanfiction exists on tumblr and ao3 for a reason; no celebrities on this platform who could accidentally stumble upon a fic about themselves. i’m not even gonna go into details about ao3, that site is fantastic. back to tumblr.
there’s a very nice tag system here, even better, there’s a relatively new blacklisting system where you can literally block whichever keyword you want and it won’t appear on your dash.
stop acting like fic writers are actively hurting people by posting fanfiction on appropriate platforms whilst appropriately tagging them and putting appropriate warnings.
i’ve said this before and i’ll say it again; fanfiction is comforting, entertaining and wonderful for so many people. if you don’t like it, you don’t have to consume it.
distance yourself from it, block it or whatever, but don’t be a dick to people on anon. it’s simple
