Even in the small screen of her phone, Stef could see the conflict written all over Nico’s face. She waited him out, knowing that whatever he was about to say was hard for him.

“I—I met someone.”

Stef nodded, trying to prevent anything other than happiness leaking through her smile. “You shouldn’t sound so sad about that, Nico.”

“No, I know and I’m not,” he said quickly. “I just—”

His sentence ended so abruptly that Stef paused just to make sure he hadn’t disconnected. But no, the worry in his face was enough proof that he just didn’t know what to say. Curious, truly, because whilst he was always thoughtful about what he said, he was never speechless.

“Why is this one so much harder than the others?”

“I really like her,” Nico admitted, his voice small. “So much, Stef.”

There was a slight—and only slight—twinge in Stef’s chest, but the smile that formed on her face was mostly genuine, as was her saying, “I can’t wait to meet her.”

“I haven’t told her about—about you.”

“I’m just your best friend, Nico. You don’t have to keep me a secret.”

Nico’s face contorted instantly. “There are some things I should probably keep a secret.”

Stef shook her head. “You should keep absolutely none of it a secret.”

Nico’s sigh was visible through the camera as he muttered ‘I know’ and his shoulders deflated.

I've been re-reading jack and daisy and wanted to know if they ever talk about having kids after the abortion like down the road or if they just never want to have kids again

which is like late for NHL players with girlfriends from high school, but Daisy made it clear that her school and establishing a career came first.

Jack got in early with the Vegas proposal, but the rest of the plan doesn't change for now. there's a lot of therapy involved, and like it's weirdly a blessing in disguise because now Daisy knows she needs the therapy before they make any definitive decisions.

The season hadn’t ended but Jack was staring down the end of his. With the Devils playoffs long gone, the decision was made for him to fly to Colorado for surgery, so that he’d be ready to play come training camp.

It wasn’t a hard decision from a season standpoint, or a career standpoint, but from a personal standpoint it was abundantly clear that Jack wasn’t at his best.

Daisy had been watching him play through the injury for months—the All-Star break wasn’t enough time to rest—and it had been wearing on her, as well. She knew it was Jack’s time to wallow, though.

They’d holed themselves up in their room, Luke sending worried looks their way when they disappeared within moments of finishing their dinner, and Daisy ignored that she could feel Jack’s tears on her legs. She just dutifully ran her hand through his hair until he was ready to acknowledge it himself.

“I’m made of glass,” he said, blubbering even though he was trying to hide it.

“It’s just some bad luck, Jack.”

“Maybe—” he choked on his words. “Maybe I should just stop playing for good.”

“Oh, Jack,” Daisy cooed, watching him closely even though she could only see one side of his face. “It’s not that bad.”

“It’s so fucking bad, Daze. I’m a bust.”

With another emphatic, Oh Jack, Daisy leant forward to kiss the top of his head. He would get past the thought, she knew he would, but it didn’t hurt to let him get it out every once in a while.
