Johnâs dramatics were thoroughly noted. Evie just shook her head a soft chuckle escaped her lips. âYou could have just asked me to get it for you John. Iâm a bit harder to impress than that. You should know that. Though, it is pretty cute.â Villains often had different ideas of what was âcute,â than your typical person. With a sigh she clinked her glass against his, âTo
For a moment Evie pondered John at her age. Was he just as angst ridden; or did his younger-self have a special flair? As John spoke, Evie perched herself upon the bar and crossed her legs. Ever careful to maintain eye contact, she tapped her ruby painted bottom lip. âNo we wonât get emotional. Why? I donât think thatâs what you need right now deary. This place introduced me to the love of my life, and took him away. It sucks, People let you down. I get it. Drinking about it can be fun, and I fully endorse doing it right now. But I recommend channeling that anger into something productive. Such as, two defeating your Warlock friend, I met him. I have a feeling he finds me interestingâŚ.â
âThirdly I donât think I am a p-r-i-c-k,â Curses just did not sound right coming from her princess mouth, so she opted to spell it instead.. âI think Iâm lovely to you. Fourthly if you need a place to crash I have a house with like a few extra bedrooms. You can crash as long as you need to.â
Evie paused for a moment to take another sip of her drink. âFifth, Iâll help you with your quest. Iâm may be evil, but Iâm an evil genius proficient in both science and potions. Because Iâm not a hero, I donât care what it takes to get the job done. Sixth and final point, this place is what you make it. Â I have the time of my life here. Be the man I know you are and show it whose boss. I mean if you let it defeat you that would make you terribly boring.â
âĄâ âIt wasnât to impress you. I canât be arsed to talk to people. Sâeasier. Besides, I nicked that ring this morning, best way to dispose of it... Donât want Captain blondie to be weepinâ over an olâ ring that âis fella left behind.âÂ
âThat warlock gives me power, so defeatinâ âim... Ainât what I want to do. Just lock âim up. Iâve done a good enough job keepinâ him busy... âE donât need to be defeated, just kept an eye on. -- What quest? Sorry duckie, I work alone on these sorts, and it ainât a fun quest where ye get yer mates to help... Well this âas been... a hell of a pep talk.â He raised the bottle to take another long swig, placing it down and looking at her with his ever so tired eyes. âI still âate this bloody place. Now, Iâm going to get piss drunk and forget me own name. Tally hoâÂ

âYou are a mess John,â Carefully Evie began to fix Johnâs hair as she shook her head. Her nimble fingers racked through the blonde tendrils. When she finished fixing his hair, she placed her hand upon the bar. Carefully she looked around for Kurogiri, with him gone it looked as if sheâd have to make her own drink. As she slid over the bar she grabbed a bottle of English whisky. With the bottle she made her own drink. She took the glass and took a sip, and eyed him curiously. âWhat have you been up to you naughty boy? What has gotten you all in nots? You can tell me.â
Evie never had the chance to be a kid, never had a childhood. That was the cruel fate of those born on the Isle of the Lost. They were genetically dispositioned to be bad, at least thatâs what everyone said. If anything her sex-kitten mother, The Evil Queen herself didnât help any. Just another bad example, to use her body to get what she wants. Why she often sought the company of older friends was probably that womanâs influence as well. Whatever it was, made Evie being friends with an angry 40-year-old man completely logical. âAlmost think you were scared of pretty little witches.â Â Evie couldnât help but smile and laugh as she prods his side, trying to bring a bit of brevity. She could tell he was being totally lame and considering their age, via internal monologue. It was a gift. Honestly, she didnât have much time for that.
When John began to complain about the âforeign shitâ Evie poured the English whisky into his glass. âYou realize it isnât foreign if you are in that country right? We arenât in any country.â As she picked up her own glass she took a sip. âThat excuse may work on your hero buddies JohnnyâŚWith all the angst and the layers of emotionâŚ.But the girl you agreed to mentor is a villain. Weâre smarter than that. Something is going on here, talk about it. Before I get bored and give up on you. Since you know, emotions, gross.â Evie sat herself upon the bar and smiled.
âItâs a villain bar deary. Try not to insult itâŚâ John was def going to be more trouble than she expected and or needed. Still she figured sheââd stay by his side. âBefore I have to chug a strength potion and carry you out of here, whats really going on Johnny?âÂ
âĄâ âAinât I always.â He replied with a casual tilt of the head, enough to show that he still had some snark left in him. âAs for foreign shit -- well exactly, this ainât the real deal poppet, says it on the bottle, but there ainât as much of a taste as English aired whiskey either..â Eyes watched the glass fill with amber, and he stared up at her with a deadpan stare, muttering something under his breath as an imp-like demon formed -- a small little thing, giggling away as it leapt over the bar and grabbed a whole bottle of whiskey, snorting a few times on its way -- jumping up again, almost struggling to do so with its hooves hanging -- before handing the entire bottle to John. The warlock reached into his pocket, pulling out a silver ring that had been engraved -- custom -- belonging to someone else, and giving it to the imp as payment before it disappeared in a puff of smoke. He was really using his demon summoning ability to its full potential -- ...what a waste.Â
Uncorking the bottle with his teeth, he held it up with a small, âCheers,â and began chugging away at it. The burn down his throat was a relief, the deep feeling in his chest -- in his heart -- the reprieve he sought would only be temporary, but at least it worked for now.Â
With a deep breath, and sigh of relief he looked at the girl behind the counter.
âWhat's really going on? Is that firstly, me best mates gone and fucking left -- the best mate I âad âere. Heâs gone and fucked off home, left his mopy boyfriend around and that means I ainât got anywhere to stay. Didnât even say bye, the pretentious dick. Secondly, the most dangerous warlock on earth is now walking around âere scott free, and thirdly, everyones a fucking prick. That answer your question enough, luv, or are we gonna âave a long heart ta heart about feelings and emotions... I hate this bloody place.â Â

Hive City was an absolute paradise for Evie. A girl who grew up in improvised destitute environment with a mentally ill mother. Where she had nothing but the trash of heroes to eat and wear. A place where she could not use her own magic. An isle where her mother and Mal controlled her. In Hive City Evie found her freedom, she found herself. Hive City gave her; fresh food, a home, her magic, and friends. Honestly, she could not want for more.
When John turned to Evie, her smile grew wider as she took another sip. âI turned 18 last year John. Plus, Iâm in with the League of Villains that runs the bar. Iâve been coming here since I was 17âŚPeople in other realms are so weird about age. IWeâre villains, breaking the law is kind of what we do anyway.â She tilted her head to the side, he seemed a bit off. âWhatâs wrong?â
âĄâ âWhile Iâm all for giving the law my middle finger, I ainât calling meself a villain, givinâ meself a title-- see I find itâs the pricks that label themselves heroes or villains that end up âavinâ to live up to a reputation that theyâve set for themselves... becoming a stereotype, nâ tha...âÂ
He scoffed, eyes resumed the downward glance of his half empty glass, swirling it by grabbing it by the rim and shaking it a little. He hadnât made a single friend since heâd gotten here, though -- he shouldâve been used to that, but by now, there was at least one -- in this case, an 18 year old kid.Â
Swallow sadness. Drown it. Be the grumpy old bastard that you are, John Constantine. She doesnât need to know that everyone in this place either wants to fight you, doesnât realise how strong you are, or hates you. Itâs not that he missed being feared or having a reputation for being one of the most dangerous warlocks on Earth, but -- he missed the banter, at least. Power comes at a price.Â
âWhats wrong is that there ainât a bloody place in this entire rubbish heap that serves decent English beer, all this foreign shit ainâ doinâ me any favours, luv.âÂ

The azure hair beauty made her way around the bar and shook her head. A dazzling smile came to her ruby lips. It surprised Evie to see the blonde haired man at the bar. Not that she particularly surprised to see him out, just here in particular. It was a rather known hot stop for villains. âJohn Constantine, you are aware this is a villain bar correct?â Evie sat down next to him and took a sip of her appletini. âI do hope you are looking for some trouble.â
@xhellblazing
âĄâ The city hadnât been kind to him, but neither was the real world -- why did he expect it to be any different? So naturally, the response to sorrow, loneliness and anger was to drown it in with a couple of good pints.Â
He sat at the wooden bar, leaning over it and nursing his third pint of beer, posture perking slightly as he noticed the familiar voice -- then turned a little to face her. At least there was one person in this place that didnât want to kill him.Â
âEllo poppet.â He replied, with a slight slur. âWell, I ainât a hero, so I guess these blokes wonât âave an issue. Are ye even old enough ta be âere? Does this shithole even âave a drinking age?âÂ

Few people really think about dying⌠Paranoids worry about it without really understanding it. Victims of fatal accidents and murder donât have time to think. You only really think about it if you take the time to. And you only take the time if you know itâs going to happen. Thatâs when the thought of death takes up your every waking momentâŚ

â°â⎠ââŚâŚ.â John speaks like heâs speaking from bitter experience. Has he been farted on like that before? What monster would stand in front of someone and just let one rip? Sheâs now gently patting his arm. Hoping to ease some of that traumatic experience, if itâs ever happened. âIâm sorry,â She nods. âwhatâs Totten Ham Court Road?â And the only station she knows at the moment is that train station here in Hive City. Hm. Different worlds are really strange. Itâs obvious that she needs a lot of teaching of new things. âWhatâs a Londoner? Are they all smelly?âÂ
âĄâ He takes the sympathetic pat on the arm with a grateful nod and slant of his brows; ever a flair for the dramatic, he acts the victim even though in fairness, he was used to worse. After all, he was the one who took a leak on a vampire-king just to rub in the bitter defeat in the most vulgar manner possible - but he wouldnât let this innocent soul know of such antics.Â
âYe--itâs a train station back home. And uh-- Yeah. All of âem. I still live down there but I âate the smell. Plus theyâre all pretentious twats so that doesnât help.âÂ
