Absolutely pissed off out of my mind watching this Columbia bullshit because they're trying so fucking hard to spin it as bad and hateful and antisemitic and wrong but without directly lying about there being violence because there straight up isn't but there's no good way to say they don't give a flying fuck about Palestine or their students or the right to protest and just want everyone swept away like dust off of a porch.

Free speech literally doesn't fucking matter if you have the dissenting opinion of whoever is in power. And no I'm not talking about getting yelled at for saying slurs or being tansphobic, I'm talking about the direct silencing of government and insitutional opposition in this country because it's inconvenient at best to let the people make it known that the government ISNT LISTENING to us like they're supposed to because they don't WANT to

It's so funny to me that it's possible to have verbal misunderstandings with animals.

This morning I made Ripley (a parrot) a foraging toy, as I often do before I leave for work, by putting a bunch of paper shreds in an old tea box with some peanuts and dried cherries. He hadn't touched it by the time I came home so when he was wandering around the living room restlessly looking for something to do I picked up the box and told him "hey, there's a peanut in here. You can get it out" and then I went back to my office.

After a couple minutes, he walked through the kitchen to where I was sitting at my desk and looked up at me and whispered "I get peanut?"

I said, "Buddy. I think you misunderstood me. The peanut is still in the box."

He tapped his beak on the floor, said "oh" in a really disappointed tone, and then helpfully suggested, "I step up get a peanut?"

the Columbia University arrests are worse than they seem. They're arresting protesting students for trespassing. It goes without saying students cannot meaningfully "trespass" in the common areas of a university they attend. So Columbia University has suspended all student protestors from their institution, in the process revoking their access to housing, their belonging, and most crucially damaging their academic futures. We are witnessing full scale silencing and removal of anyone of conscience from the next generation of academia.
