Some Random Kawanishi Headcanons

Allergic to the entire season of spring and hates his birthday because of it

Unironically believes in aliens, however not in the sense that he goes looking for them. No, he’s deathly afraid of them and fears he’ll get abducted.

He watched a lot of conspiracy documentaries and does a lot of research on theories behind alien sightings and thinks he can tell which ones are real or not.

Always vigilantly watching for the inexplicable so he can hide and protect himself from the coming alien invasion

Probably has an extensive plan of what to do in case of alien attack

His spirit animal is a pillow

He gets yelled at frequently for not taking notes in class, but he’s an auditory learner so he takes in information better just by listening to lectures without trying to take notes

It also doesn’t help that he often can’t read his own handwriting

He has two different handwriting styles: calligraphy and indecipherable chicken scratch. There’s no in between. Few people are able to read either style so he types most everything he has to turn in.

As a child, when asked what he wanted to be as a grown up, he answered “a wizard”

Sometimes you can ask him the same question and he will still give that answer. It does not look like he is joking about it either 

Despite being so introverted, he’s pretty good at giving advice when someone asks him for help

His record for time spent asleep is 22 hours straight

He woke up when someone called a paramedic thinking there was something wrong with him

He functions best on a constant routine, doing things the same way every day. Irregular days usually leave him feeling exhausted and stressed

Can solve a rubik’s cube with decent accuracy and speed

chokes on something (air, spit, food, etc) at least once a day

Rolls out of bed looking flawless every day and no one understands his magic of not trying hard at anything but being pretty good at everything

In many cases, he is just magic. He doesn’t touch his hair but it’s still perfect. He manages to look good in almost any clothing, even the school uniform. He eats like shit and stays pretty healthy. He isn’t physically active outside of volleyball but manages to be pretty strong. Doesn’t study but gets decent grades?

The one exception is that he takes VERY good care of his skin and has an unnatural amount of products for that

If anyone needs lotion, chapstick, sunscreen, etc. Kawanishi is your guy

Keeps his space fairly neat because let’s be real, all he needs is his phone to be entertained

Has never been on time for anything in his life ever

If he needs to be somewhere at 9, he’ll leave at like 9:10

Usually needs 10 alarms and Shirabu throwing  a shoe at him from across their dorm to actually wake up

Had a couple imaginary friends as a kid and will occasionally reference them if he needs a scapegoat. Everyone is just confused so he gets away with it.

just a few things i did for kawanishi’s birthday today! i love him soooo much!! and i finally got my collection back from storage just in time!

kawanishi is just really great and he might SEEM like a backgrounder but there’s really quite a bit to his character! he is so interesting and wonderful to me and i hope against all hope we might get to know a little more about him someday.

Kawanishi Taichi Appreciation Post

It's that special day of the year and we shall wish this babie happy birthday. This is about to be long but totally worth it

SO HERE IT GOES

Kawanishi Taichi is Shiratorizawa's second year middle blocker. One of the reasons I noticed him while watching haikyuu's season 3 and the movie, is that I relate to him so much as a middle blocker myself.

First of all, baby boy Taichi (heh see what I did there) has my favorite number on his jersey so it's one of the reasons he caught my eye at first, I know it's stupid but yes, it happened.

As Ushijima pointed out, Taichi lacks confidence about his serves. Guess what? Serves were and will always be my biggest struggle in volleyball. So seeing a character having the same difficulty as I do, obviously willing to work hard on that like me, made me feel a bit more emotional over this babie.

Can we talk about how proud Taichi is of Goshiki? Like I know at that↓ moment everyone was so proud of him, but let's be honest, it is so hard to find scenes of Taichi pulling out his emotions and that smile? Have you seen anything prettier? It literally speaks volumes about how much he believes in Goshiki. 

And let's not forget that Taichi obviously doesn't want Goshiki to get carried away and tries to keep him motivated. Remember his comment when Tendou started praising him before the match began? Like seriously at that moment anyone could think that "he's jealous" or "he's mean to his underclassmen". BUT NO he just wants Goshiki to give his 100% out there without having any kind of distractions during the game and end up risking his team's victory.

Taichi is also a very smart player. He has ⅘ in his original statistics for game sense, something he proved in Shiratorizawa’s game with Karasuno. After using the synchronised attack only once, Taichi was able to stop it the second time Karasuno used their special move [AND HE DIDN’T GET MUCH CREDIT FOR THAT I’M SAD]. Like how many times have we seen other teams failing to stop or even predict this attack? Baby boy was able to keep his cool, concentrate AND successfully stop it quite easily after seeing it in action only once.

His friendship with Shirabu? G o l d. I really wish we could have more moments with them together. They both seem like characters who struggle showing their feelings or don’t feel comfortable doing so. Therefore, I believe that's a reason why they seem to be close as friends. And their high five after Taichi’s spike? Did you mean my favorite scene ever? Even in the meeting after the match, they could literally be standing anywhere among the other players, but guess what? THEY STOOD NEXT TO EACH OTHER. Even in the official art pics they are standing next to each other almost all the time, you can’t convince me they are not best friends. I just love their friendship so much.

Taichi? Emotionless? You better give this a second thought. Let me take you back to the painful scene after Shiratorizawa's defeat to Karasuno and add a fact about Taichi: he has been seen crying once. BOY he is already insecure about his serves, his face screamed how sad he was whenever he lost a serve or a block.. You bet he started blaming himself after the game, just like his teammates [brb imma go cry in the corner]

IN CONCLUSION

He's a pure babie, obviously enjoys playing volleyball in such a strong team and is proud of his teammates. He deserves more recognition for his achievements AND attempts to be better.

I could rant all day about how much I love this boy but I'll just stop here before I get too cringy or annoying. Anyways HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE CUTEST BABY BOY I send him all my smooches and love 😚 here are some baby moments of this babie

So it's finally Kawanishi's birthday in my country as well, so I wanted to ask, if he'd enjoy the attention, he gets from his teammates, or what kind of party it would be. Have a nice day, everyone! Sorry, if this has already been asked before ^^;

Sen: My precious boy. What a good boy. I love him.

- Kawanishi isn’t one for lots of attention but he’s very appreciative of all the birthday wishes he gets (even if they wake him up at midnight since he forgot to turn off his phone notifications).

- Before, he just wanted his birthdays to be just another day where he could sleep in and hopefully go out to eat where ever he wanted. It hasn’t changed much honestly, but he’s a little less reluctant to get out of bed. (His mum used to let him miss school if he wanted on his birthdays but he isn’t about to do it again since he’d just get caught by someone checking on him)

- Nothing much happens during the school day in all honesty, except for the fact that (as per custom) during lunch, Kawanishi gets way too much attention from the team and other students. It’s nice to be fussed over sometimes but when the entire student body is watching, it’s more than embarrassing.

- Reon’s obviously been careful with making Kawanishi’s cake. By that, it means that he’s iced it with the face of Pepe and Kawanishi can only respond in memes of thankfulness. “So blessed. Much thank. I owe you my life.” It gets finished easily. He’s at least 20% hungrier on his birthday.

- After practice, they all return to their dorms for a while but they do plan on going out later. Since Kawanishi and Shirabu are roommates, it’s pretty calm. Shirabu won’t make a big fuss over the guy’s birthday but he makes it known that he cares. He was the first one to wish him happy birthday and he’s always asking him constantly if he’s enjoying the day. The two are always more social on each other’s birthday.

- When they go out to eat, Shirabu’s surprisingly calm with paying. Though nobody wants to eat too much (because they swear he’s going to ask for them to pay back), Shirabu insists it’s fine since it’s his best friend’s birthday and obviously he’s going to spoil the guy. They could’ve gone over to Shirabu’s place to have sukiyaki but it’s just better when they go outside anyways.

- Afterwards, they decide to go to an arcade. It’s pretty quiet since it’s a bit late out but it just gives them a reason to be rowdy. Kawanishi’s a total boss at shooting games and he beats every single one of them. He’s totally quiet and concentrated while the others are yelling but he’s having fun. He swears he is.

- With all the tickets they got together, he ends up getting one of those massive plushies. They don’t know what to do with the massive blue dinosaur but they’re going to get it into Kawanishi and Shirabu’s room somehow. His name is Hiroto the Great. They don’t know why he’s great but he is, don’t argue with Kawanishi’s naming.

- It doesn’t really end there because once they get to their dorms, they’re still online playing. Shirabu may have nodded off to sleep, but Kawanishi’s surprisingly still got more energy in him to play a few rounds with Tendou and Yamagata online. They lost most of their matches though since the tiredness soon sets in.

- Once he logs off, Shirabu asks if he’s okay once more. He wasn’t sleeping at all but just watching the games. Kawanishi’s pretty content with his birthday, being pretty chill and all. What he’s not fine with is when he gets into bed finally and Shirabu lunges up and smacks him with Hiroto the Great. The ultimate betrayal

kawanishi is my underrated baby istg he deserves more recognition!!! he’s friendly, he’s chill, he’s a tease but cares about his friends and teammates; he’s a character with so much potential, rly, should have gotten more screentime overall. that, and he’s smart (class 5 everyone) and hawt,,,

yamagata!!! scoot over satori, this is shiratorizawa’s vbc meme lord (tendou’s more pro on dark humor yk),,, he’s the second strongest player after ushijima and along with semi, which is impressive and should get more recognition. underrated as well— did you notice most of the shiratorizawa boys are severely underrated? i did too ):<

Sen: I hope @hassans-love sees this lmao. The boys looking at themselves in fanon portrayals or something, right? I admit that not all of our headcanons will be completely 100% the way that Furudate would’ve had them, obviously, but this is and always will be a headcanon blog.

Ushijima

He’s hurt. Really hurt. He knows that he’d never intentionally harm anyone and he’s constantly being made fun of for being socially inept which he knows himself. It’s not as if he’s obsessed with Oikawa because he only vaguely remembers saying it when they were in middle school and that he respected him. This isn’t how he wanted to be.

Semi

He swears that he’s more than just some angsty pretty face. Even at school, nobody dares to make jokes about how he’s become second to Shirabu so to think that this is what people take him for isn’t just sad but downright frustrating. Never mind saying that he can’t dress himself (which is all Tendou’s opinion), it’s just annoying to think that nobody treats him seriously.

Reon

Sometimes, he wishes that he could be seen as someone who isn’t just Wakatoshi’s friend or that rare token coloured person. He’s pretty lowkey so of course nobody really notices him, but he’s lacking in appreciation and he knows it really shouldn’t bother  him but it just does. Though, he’s actually more annoyed at the fact that his best friends are mischaracterised so horriblly.

Tendou

It’s a pretty mixed reaction. While he’s appreciative of people looking into his backstory, he knows that he honestly shouldn’t be excused for his occasional rudeness and infantilized by people who are probably younger than him anyways. But at the end of the day, at least people are at least giving him some form of positive attention.

Goshiki

Another mixed reaction. He’s very grateful of the fact that people see him as strong, but underneath that, he’s slightly conscious of how people treat him like a child. He may be only a first year, but he’s someone who’s had to compete against others to be a starting player and to be just called people’s “little mushroom child” feels like all his hard work to grow up is being ignored.

Shirabu

He knows he isn’t a slave to anyone, whether it be to his studies or some obsession with Ushijima’s strength. There’s no way he’s just some short angry guy, he knows this himself; he’ll get briefly annoyed by it but it’s not something that would make him furious, as people tend to show him to be. He respects his teammates and is honestly offended when people say that he’d be outright rude to his upperclassmen, especially Semi after he took his place.

Kawanishi

Nobody actually takes him seriously, at least from his own perception. They just think of him as that one serious blocker with a pretty face but never actually realise how much work he puts into it at all. He knows he’s quiet enough as it is, but for people to say that it’s all that there is to his character makes him very annoyed.

Yamagata

He’s pretty sure the only reason that everyone knows his name is because his birthday’s on valentine’s day. And half of the fanart that he’s seen of himself is just him losing his phone, and while it was funny at first, it just got annoying because he couldn’t see anymore humour in an overused joke. Though, he’s lucky that he’s not as popular as the others are, otherwise he might have gotten worse characterisation and he’s not one to complain about that.
