My contribution for @zkwinterfest! I didn’t have as much time to work on it as I’d hoped, so I’m not really satisfied with it, but it was fun to participate in a fandom event during my personal Zutara renaissance and I hope people might enjoy a fluffy piece!
Summary:
Katara leaves her post as the ambassador to the Fire Nation to take up a new one as the ambassador to the Northern Water Tribe. Her absence makes Zuko realize that he’s got an unfortunate crush, which he is determined to keep secret. Unfortunately for him, subtly has never been one of his strengths—especially when he arrives in the Northern Water Tribe and she keeps taking him on what seem to be dates.

The Painted Lady, they called her. She was a ghost, or a terrorist. She’d been sabotaging oil rigs off the coast of the South Pole for the last year. In his dream, she held her hands out towards Zuko, pulling him deeper into the storm. Her eyes were chunks of cool blue ice that peered out at him from the dark. He wanted to run, but instead he followed. She reached her long, slender hand towards him, gesturing. Zuko walked towards her and the darkness swallowed him up.

There are still prompts open in case anyone wants to hop in.🙂 Also, just a reminder in case all participants weren't aware: you can submit your piece before the submission date for approval if you are already finished. We are one month away from the submission date for the Winter Fest pieces!
Claiming is on a rolling basis and will remain open all the way up until the submission date (28.11), and there are plenty of prompts left to peruse and choose from over on A03. The rules and information for participating are on this blog and over in the A03 collection, and of course the ask box is here if you have any questions. Can’t wait to see the upcoming submissions.❄️

I’m really interested in this event but I’m a little confused by the claiming prompt process. Does this mean only a certain amount of people can participate in the event? And you have to pick a set of three prompts to follow?
Hi! So happy you're interested.
Yes. We weren't sure how high participation would be. But if all the prompts get taken and we still hear lots of interest we're very open to adding another bingo board or two.
And yes. On the Prompts page over in the collection, one claim card is a prompt set of three (ex: solstice - log cabin - fake dating). The goal is to try and incorporate all three in your work, but using only one or two is also perfectly fine.🙂

As you can see, they are in the form of bingo boards. Prompts come in sets of three, and there are eight sets per card (three rows down, three across, two diagonal).
PROMPT CLAIMING
❄️ First, carefully read or review the ground rules before proceeding, either here on Tumblr or in the fest collection over on A03.
❄️ Prompt claiming occurs on A03. On the left side bar of the collection, you will see ‘Prompts.’ Use the cards here to find a combo you like, or browse there.
❄️ Each prompt set should only be claimed once. Do not claim an already claimed prompt, and only claim one prompt. If you are a writer and an artist, you may do both, but please put your artwork in your fic - beginning, end, or wherever you want in the story, doesn’t matter. Just please do not upload it as a separate piece.
❄️ Prompts are meant to inspire and help, not hinder! If you use all three prompts, extra kudos! But you can also use only one or two prompts if you prefer. It’s meant to be flexible!
❄️ Once you have claimed your prompt, you can locate this information from your own A03 Dashboard. On the left toolbar toward the bottom, you will see the 'Claims’ button. If you click on that, it should show you your prompt card and the relevant fest info, such as when your submission is due.
SUBMITTING
If you are finished and ready to submit, it’s time to post it to the collection!

❄️When posting to A03, you must post it to the collection ‘ZKWinterFest2021′
❄️ The days between the submission date and the reveal date are for the admins to check over submissions and ensure they follow the requirements.

You are welcome to participate in both, provided you follow the rules.
PRELIMINARY INFO:
🎁 Prompts released: Saturday, September 4th here on Tumblr.
🎁 Claiming on A03 opens: Saturday, September 4th. Claiming is on a rolling basis, so claims can be made up until the submission date.
🎁 Submissions Due: Sunday, November 28th 22:00 CET.
🎁 Collection Reveal: December 1st.
Prompts will be claimed on A03, and works will be posted to a collection on A03. The collection will be ‘Unrevealed’ until December 1st. If you’d like to know more about how unrevealed collections work, here is the info on A03. More in-depth information will be given on the prompts, how to claim them, and how to post to the collection next weekend, when prompts are released and claiming opens.
