Can I get a #2 and #11 on the hurt/comfort for Soldier Boy?
omg the minute i saw this i knew i had to write it so thank you for the request anon!!
You need to understand// a Solider Boy x Reader !Request!
Tumblr media
a/n: sorry if this is ooc or my facts are a bit off but i'm gonna try my best hopefully i'll do this prompt justice since i've seen s3 of the boys 3 times over
summary: it's the 70/80's when everything was coming up soldier boy and you happened to get thrown into his nonsensical life since you were employed by vought. (i feel like the prompts will work better with a solid relationship and i couldn't figure out how to write one in the present day of the series) This story is majorly fucked so buckle up.
prompts: 2) "i wish i never met you" 11) "you're hurting me!"
warnings: domestic violence/aggression, manipulation
Being employed by vought since you graduated college appeared to most as a lifetime achievement, but in your eyes it was torture. All of the higher-up's had you wrapped around their finger, but you also worked with superheros on a daily basis. You were one of the business executives behind Payback, and were required to work closely with all of the supes.
Although your position made it appear as though you had a lot of power you couldn't make an official decision without it being greenlit by someone above you. Over time you came to accept the fact the hero business was corrupt and everyone within it was their own version of a shit show, you found solace in Soldier Boy, and he with you. The relationship was private for publicity reasons, and his on camera relationship with Crimson Countess, but you knew him beyond the superhero persona, you knew Ben.
Today you were extraordinarily stressed and overworked, excited for the day to be over, but before you had the chance to finish up for the night Stan Edgar waltzed into your office. "We are on the verge of a media disaster, and you need to get your little boyfriend in line." You looked to the man confused as to what the hell he was talking about, then he placed a folder onto your desk. Upon opening the folder you were met with photographs of Soldier Boy in full uniform getting into nasty bar fights, assaulting random fans, and committing multiple accounts of destruction of property, paired with a now scrapped news article on conspiracies within vought.
"It cost an arm and a leg to keep this away from the press, and all members associated have been dealt with, but I don't want to see any of this happening again." and with that he saw himself out. You continued to stare blankly at the content in front of you, unsure of what to think. The idea of him acting like this sent chills down your spine. You knew he was hostile, temperamental even, but you'd never seen him act out like this before. You picked up the file and headed out the door to Soldier Boys room in the building, knocking on the door and entering when you heard the okay from him inside.
"Finished up for the night?" he asked as he walked over to greet you with a kiss to your temple, but you backed away. He seemed baffled as to why you wouldn't accept his affection like you normally do, and without a word you handed him the file in your hand. "What the hell were you thinking? The bar fights didn't necessarily surprise me, but innocent fans? People wanting to greet you because they idolize you? And don't get me started on the homes you've wrecked. Homes in family neighborhoods? Do you even understand the damage your recklessness has caused? You could've hurt children damnit!" You completely blew up, you were sick and tired of everyone behaving so childishly, and for once you thought you found someone within vought who wasn't a complete sack of shit, but of course you were proven wrong.
"You can't actually blame me for all of this right? People are fragile its normal for them to want to get a closer look and throw themselves in danger, that isn't my fault." He stated. He seemed completely unphased by what was just presented before him. "They aren't just trying to get a closer look at the action, they were trying to speak to you after a mission and you shoved them away so forcefully a man was sent to the ER! You threw a car at a fucking house Ben! A man died because you weren't careful!" Tears started to form in the corners of your eyes and he tried to move closer to you, to console you. He reached a hand up to wipe a tear from your cheek and you shoved him away.
"Oh so I fuck up a few time and now you wan't nothing to do with me?" You were in awe at how casual he was about this. "No, a fuck up is when you say something bad in an interview, which believe me you do plenty of, but this? Ben this is just murder!" you turned away from him. "I mean technically it was an accident so it would be manslaughter but-" you immediately cut him off, "You can't be serious right now. Like that's any better? Its still your actions killing people!" You moved to take the file out of his hand and leave, ready to go home and reconsider just what the fuck you had gotten yourself into, but he grabbed your wrist, pulling you back towards him.
"Ben let go of me, I'm going home I can't do this right now." you tried to pull away but there was no use trying to fight Earth's mightiest hero. "Please you just need to understand sometimes people are disposable, let me help you understand!" You could tell he really did want you to stay, see things the way he did, but the way he saw things was just morally wrong. "Please Ben I don't want to have to ask again." You were weaker than him, and nothing would ever change that. You had hoped this day would never come but hope doesn't get you anywhere these days.
His grip tightened as you struggled. "Saving the world is hard Y/N! I try my best, but sometimes humans are just collateral!" he pleaded. "I understand you think you're above humanity with your fancy powers, but you were just a man once too!" hearing that angered him more than anything. The one thing he hated talking about was his life before he was given Compound V. You winced as he tightened his grip more and more, "Ah, Ben you're hurting me!" you cried and you tried to pry him off of you with your other hand, the folder you were holding falling to the floor. He raised another hand up to reach around your throat, holding you still. "You know better than to talk about shit like that, bitch!" you reached up, tugging on his wrist to release you as it became harder and harder to breath. "I-I wish I never met you!" you gasped out as tears streamed down your face. He let go of your wrist and sent a harsh slap across your cheek. "You don't mean that... You know you don't mean that!" He shouted, close enough to your face to pierce your eardrums.
He just watched you struggle, your cheek was scraped from the impact as a trail of blood poured down your cheek, your tears finding their way into the would making it sting more. "Y-you don't mean that. Please, tell me you don't mean that!" You tried your best to speak but you couldn't. You began to feel dizzy and he could see your face lose color and your lips begin to turn blue. Seeing you, the one person he thought understood him, the only one he let himself love, in a state like this caused by his own action struck something in him. In a part of him he wished to cast away many years ago. The part of him that deep down was still human.
His grip began to loosen and he looked into your eyes pleadingly, "Please... tell me you don't mean that. Tell me you love me." The only feeling you had for him right now was fear. If you didn't comply you feared the loss of your life, so you nodded. "I do love you, Ben. I was upset I didn't mean it, I'm sorry." He smiled the same smile you remember falling for and the hand on your neck moved up to brush against your cheek. His other hand hovering gently over the fresh cut on your cheek. "I love you too Y/N," he leaned in and kissed you deeply, and you knew that there was no going back now. You just had to sit happily with him and try your best to stay blind to how truly horrible he really was.
As he pulled away he took a moment to observe your face, "I bet you're tired. Let's get you cleaned up then get some rest, yeah?" You nodded and he lead you to the bathroom, wetting a towel then wiped the blood from your cheek. This was the side of him you loved. The part of him that wanted to take care of you, please you. All he ever wanted was to be loved and appreciated and now that he's found someone to fill that void he couldn't let you slip from his grasp. He finished cleaning the wound and pressed a kiss on top of it.
"Can we get some rest now?" you asked. Although deep down you knew you should run, you didn't have it in you. In your eyes the pros just outweighed the cons. "Of course, baby." He swiftly picked you up carrying you to his bed. Spending the night in his room was something you did often, and in all honesty being able to drift off in his arms was just what you needed after a stressful day. He can often be the cause of your stress, but he's allowed himself to be the one to wash it all away as well.
After he placed you down he got into bed next to you. You were too exhausted to change out of your work clothes, and just curled up into him. Instantly soothed by the rise and fall of his chest, the pace of his beating heart. He brushed through your hair with his fingers and placed kisses to the top of your head.
"I really do love you, I know you'll understand one day."

Sprite // a Tangerine x reader drabble
Tumblr media
i luv me some tangerine😚
a/n: your code name is blondie like the band, but if you’re actually blonde then thats even better! but theres no reference to your actual hair color in the story, also this is a fem reader story because i think it works better than ungendered since you’ll be posing as a sex worker for sum rich white guy
summary: you were hired along with the twins by different employers on a mission in assassinating a political figure in the United States (no not a real one) and as the contract killers you are, the three of you accept. although unbeknownst to you, you wouldn’t be working solo like you usually do.
warnings: murder ig but did you really expect anything less? rich people doing rich people drugs n such
JUST A REMINDER MY REQUESTS ARE OPEN! i’ve posted a fandom list and my request rules, but if it doesn’t inspire me dont expect me to write it🤷‍♀️
You only knew Tangerine and Lemon by their work names, and they only knew you by yours. You were the infamous ‘Blondie’ although not because of your hair color, rather the fact you worked best with a pair of headphones in, listening to none other than Blondie.
When you got the call from your handler saying you were wanted to assassinate Derek Brown, a current candidate for the New York Senator, you were weary. That was until they mentioned just how much you would get paid. 1 Million dollars. It seems like a lot for just one person, but for the job it was just enough in your eyes. Who had this much money to hire you? You and your handler were both unsure, but the pay was delivered half before the job and half after, so you were more than satisfied.
The plan was simple. You’d attend a party full of men too rich and fat to face any consequences for their actions in an underground club in New York City, and all you had to do was get him alone, find a way to administer the poison your employer delivered with the first half of your cash, and get the hell out of there. Seemed easy enough.
You dressed in a short cocktail dress, in order to blend in with all the other girls for hire in the club. Paired with some heels and expensive looking jewelry, then you were off to the club, the poison sitting comfortably in your bra for later.
Getting into the club was a lot easier than you thought it would be. The staff entrance was completely unguarded to your surprise, so you just stepped right in.
The music blared loudly as you waltzed through the club. Servers with trays of expensive liquors and lines of cocaine, definitely not somewhere you'd want your future senator. You smiled to all the men you made eye contact with, waving to a few and trying to keep your cool while searching for your target, but before you could find him two familiar faces came into your view. You immediately groaned and walked towards them.
"Well if it isn't the Sprite twins!" They both looked at you, utterly confused. "Y'know.. Lemon and Lime, like Sprite? What? Do you prefer 7Up or something?" One of the men cleared his throat and grumbled, "It's Tangerine." You couldn't help but stifle a laugh. "Oh I'm sorry! Tangerine... That's a bit of a mouthful isn't it? I mean of all the fruits you could've picked you chose Tangerine?" He rolled his eyes, as the one you remembered to be Lemon laughed along with you, nodding in agreement. "Says you Blondie. A little boring innit?" You scoffed and mumbled a whatever. "Anyways, why the hell are you two here?" Lemon spoke up this time. "Senator candidate Brown." He stated simply, and Tangerine elbowed him in the side and furrowed his brows, "Just tell the girl the whole mission why dontcha!"
You found it funny how his mood was so terrible. "Well then i believe we have the same goal, just don't get in my fucking way and we'll be all fine and dandy!" You sent a smile and walked away, hearing Tangerine mumble an 'all fine and dandy yeah right' as you were off.
After making a few rounds through the building, you laid eyes on the target, taking two glasses off the waitstaffs tray and sitting next to him. "I couldn't help but notice you looking at me from across the room..." You grinned through your teeth, handing him one of the glasses you were holding, then using that empty hand to rub his thigh.
After that not much small talk had to follow before he was whisking you away to a private room. "Would you like a drink hun?" You asked as you walked over to a side table in the room with a few glasses and a bottle of whiskey. "That sounds lovely doll," he replied as he started to remove his coat and tie, taking a seat on a couch in the room. You poured a drink and walked over to hand it to him, but pulled it away from his grasp before he could grab it. "Ah, this is your reward dear. You gotta take that shirt off first..." you played with his collar as you spoke, then stepped away so he could unbutton it, and while he was distracted you spiked his drink.
"Good boy.." you leaned forward to kiss his neck and handed him his drink. He drank it all down in one go, and the poison started working immediately, causing him to start choking and gasping for air. "Aww poor thing can't handle his liquor," you faked a pout and laughed. "Sick bastard..." Now for your great escape, you surveyed the room to find some kind of window or door to the outside to leave through so you didn't have to sneak past the two men guarding the door from the outside.
You spotted a window across from you and ran over trying to wiggle it open, but to no avail. The damn thing was sealed shut. Unknown to you, the twins had their own plan to get to him up their sleeve.
The brothers both headed towards the stage where they had a few fog machines, replacing the liquid in them with an anesthetic, then they both threw on a gas mask and turned the machines on. How the two worked was in now way conventional, but it worked for them and that's all they needed. Soon enough the gas reached the men guarding the room you were in, and the sudden thud of them passing out alerted you.
As you looked in that direction you spotted the gas seeping through the cracks in the door. "Fuck, fuck, fuck!" you muttered and grabbed a blanket to cover your nose and mouth to wait out the gas airing out. Soon enough the twins had entered the room, and to their surprise you were sitting calmly in the room with their target unconscious. "Is he uh... dead?" Lemon asked. You just nodded, trying to minimize your breathing to the best of your ability. They both closed the door and draped blankets around the cracks of it to keep the gas out, then removed their masks. "Bloody spectacular!" Tangerine shouted angrily. "We needed the cunt alive Blondie!" he groaned. "Oh... well I didn't, so my job here's done if you'll just excuse me-" you got up to try and leave but Tangerine stopped you. "Ah, if you leave now you'll pass out before you reach the door." You huffed and held a hand out, "Then I'll be taking one of those masks please and thanks."
"No way in hell love, not until I figure out what the fuck we're gonna do about this." You whined at his response. "Oh c'mon I didn't want to fight anyone tonight, especially the both of you, so please just let me walk." The twins shared a look, then Tangerine looked back to you. "Give me your worst doll, you aren't leaving just yet." You sighed and shook your head. You took a couple seconds to think of a plan of action, then suddenly lunged at Tangerine, giving him a good punch to the gut and reaching for his mask, but you were stopped in your tracks when you heard a gun cock from behind you. "Sorry Blondie, but he's right, we can't let you go just yet.
"You can't just keep me here! My handlers going to get nervous if I don't go back to my hotel within the hour. I bet she'll send back up too then your ass is grass." Tangerine snickered at your plea, "Lemon, go handle the bouncers outside, and lock the doors. I'll keep an eye on the lady." And with a quick nod, Lemon put his gas mask back on and stepped outside, then Tangerine readjusted the blankets in the cracks of the door.
"Go sit on the couch." He ordered and you groaned. "Next to the dead guy? Yeah pass I'll take the bed." You waltz over to the bed and kick off your heels then take a seat. You considered all possible options to slip by before Lemon had a chance to get back. "You might as well come take a seat with me since I'm going to be forced to stay here for a while," you spoke calmly and looked up to him, giving a doe eyed expression and a bit of a pout. Then just like any other man you ever tried to manipulate on the job, he complied and sat next to you.
"It's quite the gruesome line of work for such a pretty face.." you spoke softly and grazed your fingertips up and down his thigh. He grabbed your wrist and pulled your hand away. "Could say the same for you." He spoke quickly, using as few words as possible to get his point across. You could tell he was struggling with you so close to him and it made your sticky situation all the better. "So Tangerine... what's the idea behind the name?" you asked and turned from having your back against the headboard to facing him. You had to admit he truly was attractive. "Well Tangerines are sophisticated, easily cross hybridized. Adaptable, like myself." You giggled at how serious his response was, not thinking he'd have such a good explanation for a fruit.
"I still think lime would suit you more, my Sprite joke was funny," you smiled, and gently tried to move your hand back up his thigh again. This time he didn't budge, allowing the contact, although he didn't respond to you. "Y'know this line of work gets lonely, why won't you talk to me? When's the last time you had a real conversation with someone that wasn't Lemon?" You saw as his jaw clenched, he seemed irritated, not because you were bothering him, but because he knew you were right, he did want to talk to you. Suddenly he untensed and let out a deep sigh.
Letting his guard down. Perfect. "Not for a long while. Other than Lemon I don't really speak to people outside my job. The job I'm currently on and trying to not get distracted from, thanks." You frowned and went from gently grazing his thigh to placing your hand down, softly brushing your thumb over it. "It's probably more lonely working solo though," he was beginning to open slowly, deciding to not see you as a threat, but an acquaintance. "It is lonely, sometimes I regret this line of work. Wish I had a normal, boring, actionless life." You both progressively moved closer as you continued to chat.
It was hard to find someone going through the same thing you were since it was rare to meet people who would even begin to understand living your life as a weapon, but he did because he was the same. Tangerine was comfortable, but internally cursing his brother for taking so long and leaving him to keep his cool with you. Same as you, he couldn't deny your charm.
You suddenly leaned in all the way kissing the man in front of you, a hand on his cheek and the other slowly inching up his thigh. You could tell he was shocked by the delay in kissing you back, but something in him couldn't push you away. Both of his hands reached up to your waist, one staying there and the other making its way up your back. The kiss was over as soon as it started, with you reaching you hand on his thigh up into his waistband, pulling his own gun on him.
"I'm really sorry about this, I did enjoy our little chat." He was completely and utterly shocked. He was mad at himself for letting his guard down, but more upset that you tried to get close to him to catch him off guard. “Give me your phone.” you ordered and he looked at you dumbfounded. “I said give me your phone!” and he shuffled through his pockets and pulled it out. “Put in your password.” and he complied then handed it to you.
You opened his messages and put in your phone number, sending yourself a text, then tossed it on the bed. Tangerine tried to reach for it back, but you stopped him. “Sorry hun but I cant let you move.” you grabbed your shoes off the floor, not letting the man leave your sight, then leaned over and gave him a peck on the cheek, grabbed his mask, and put it on before backing out the door.
As you stepped out, you were met by Lemon. “Move a single muscle and I’ll blow your brains out.” you held the gun to the side of his head, and he froze. “Good.. now you’re going to let me go, and don’t worry about your brother he’s perfectly fine, just pussy whipped.” you gave a small chuckle and ran out the door to your car making your escape.
Once Tangerine could grab his phone he opened it to see a contact name, ‘Blondie😉’ and a message you sent to yourself.
“xoxo😚”

2,036 words
previous part / next part
"Fun huh?" Steve asked. "I guess I could have a little fun."
"That's the spirit Stevie boy!" you cheer and wrap an arm around his neck, leaning into him due to the fact you're a little off balance. You bring the joint in your hand up to his lips, and he takes a hit. Surprisingly he didn't cough, so that raises a question. "You smoke pot before Mr. Perfect?" one of the new friends you had made asked before you could. "Well I definitely used too, but now that I've realized how many responsibilities I have I've kinda stopped all together." He stated a little more honestly than you thought he would, but of course he had who knows what in his system right now.
After a few more trips back and forth from the bar, you and Steve had both come to the conclusion you were ready to begin your walk home. Your head was rested on his shoulder and you sleepily mumbled to him, "Steve, remember how I said we could walk home?" you asked looking up to him, your face almost pressed against his. He nodded and looked to you confused. "Well I don't wanna walk anymore," you pouted up to him. Although Steve came around to having fun, he did however limit everything he took about half the amount that you did, so no he definitely wasn't sober, but he could function fairly well. "Well I don't trust myself to drive still, so I guess I'm just going to have to carry you home." He shrugged you off of his shoulder and got up, holding his hand out to you, and you happily took it.
Next thing you knew, you were on his back, arms wrapped around his neck loosely enough for him to not be choked out right now. You waved goodbye to your new friends and you were off! Walking down the road at night was surprisingly calming. Well, Steve walking you down the road that is. Your head was rested on your arm that was laid on his shoulder. "Hey Steve? How come you were so persistent with being with me today?" you ask. Although you were happy to go along with whatever antics he had followed you through tonight, Steve wasn't really someone you considered to be a friend. More of an acquaintance really. "I dunno, I guess I just felt like I had to shoot my shot with the mysterious pretty girl," He spoke blatantly, which caught you off guard. "Oh so thats what you think about me, is it?" He just laughed at your response, and shook his head. "Well I wouldn't say that, at least not anymore."
"Then what do you think of me, Harrington?" You're now looking up to the stars, taking in the cool early spring breeze. "Well, you're very headstrong, but still caring. You're passionate, and can definitely get quite rowdy, and you hate my music taste." He finished and you playfully slapped his chest. "This again? I already told you I don't hate your music, It's just something I wouldn't pick." As he continued to walk the both of you home, he found a pebble on the ground that he would kick as he stepped forward, and the both of you watched as it rolled across the gravel ground, then slowed to a stop just to be kicked again. "What do you think that mysterious pretty girl thinks of me?" He asked you, now curious if what he was playing at was a lost cause.
"For starters, they definitely didn't think they were going to like you. You came off as a little full of yourself, but with looks like that in the kind of circle you were in it didn't seem too far fetched, buttttt they also think you're charming, and kind, and a good role model for their brother that always drags you into whatever shit he dug his nose into." He smiled, but from the position you were in, you couldn't actually see it, you just felt the tensing of his cheeks from where yours rested against his. "Do you think they'd want to go out with him again?" he asked, "Like actually go out though, a one on one thing not just my guest to a party?" You stayed silent for a second, pretending to think on it. Obviously you knew your answer, and it was a definite yes, but you had to keep him on his toes. "Hmm, I think they would like that, were you thinking of asking them?" He nodded and laughed, "Yeah I was actually.. Can I take you out sometime? Maybe we could actually go catch a movie or something," he spoke a little softer now, you could tell by his tone he was a little nervous, even though you practically already said yes. "I hear the breakfast club's good," you laugh. "So is that a yes?" "Yes, Steve. It's a yes."
Now that you've reached your house, you realized that you have no idea what you're going to tell your mom when Steve comes in to spend the night, unless you don't have too. "Steve, what time is it?" you asked, and he checked his watch. "11:25, why?" You immediately jumped off his back and crept under a bush, stumbling a bit and dragging him down with you. "Dustin gets picked up from Mike's at 11:30, so mom's probably going to leave the house right about-" You were paused by your front door closing, your mom was walking out the door to her car. "Right now." As she started the engine and drove off you jumped up and grabbed his hand, running messily toward the door. You quickly unlocked it and pulled Steve inside. "If you're gonna stay over, she can't know you're here." You ran to the kitchen and grabbed a pen and paper, writing a note saying that you had gotten home, but you were tired and decided to go straight to bed. After setting the note down on the counter you had Steve follow you to your room.
"Hey I'm gonna change into some pajamas, do you want me to try and find something for you?" he was a little baffled by how quickly everything just happened, and he just nodded and sat on your bed. You sifted through your drawers looking for whatever sweats and t-shirt you could find that would fit him, and tossed them in his direction, then picked out stuff for yourself. "Ok you can try that and let me know how it works." He gave you a thank you and headed toward your bathroom, which he already knew the location of since he came over often for Dustin. You changed quickly then jumped onto your bed, still dazed from everything you had taken that night. As the thoughts rolled through your head, you were thankful that Steve had invited you to the party, and you probably wouldn't have been so open to the idea of going out with him without the added 'liquid courage'.
Steve knocked on your bedroom door, and you signaled he could come in. "So, do you think Iron Maiden suits me?" he asked, referencing to the band shirt you had put him in. "Oh definitely, with a face like that a good music taste would make you even more popular with the ladies." You giggled and patted a spot on the bed next to you, and he sat down. "More popular with the ladies, or with you?" he asked inching in closer to you, which made you heat up a bit, pushing him back. "I said what I said, don't read too close into it Harrington." He held his hands up in surrender and smiled brightly. God that smile had your heart doing backflips, and it felt even better knowing he was smiling because of something you had done.
"Well you wanna put on a movie?" he asked pointing to the tv you had set up across from your bed. "Oh sure! You wanna pick one?" You stood up walking to the stack of vhs tapes you had next to it. "I have The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Thing, Cujo, Creepshow, Re-animator-" you read off the boxes you had stacked nicely on your tv stand, "Anything that wont give me nightmares?" Steve got up to look at them as well, standing closely behind you. All you could hear was your heart racing, and you didn't realize your mom and Dustin had gotten home. He reached and arm around you to look through your tapes, and suddenly someone had barged into your room. None other than your shit head of a brother. He stood in your doorway staring blankly.
"Dustin! How many times have I told you to knock before you barge in my fucking room!" you shout, that being the only thing you could've possibly said in this moment. You ran over to the door ushering him inside before shutting the door behind him. You grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him close to you. "A single word from you to mom and I'm telling her you've been snagging from the rainy day fund for comic books." He grabbed your wrist, removing it from his shirt, and took a moment to take in what the fuck he just walked in on. "Steve?" was all he could mutter. "Hey buddy," he smiled and waved. "Don't hey buddy me, this isn't what I thought you meant by getting to know my sister!" he shouted, and you placed your hand over his mouth. "Dustin please be quiet, I'll take you and your friends to the arcade, a-and pay for your games! Just please don't get me caught."
His confused expression was now replaced by a smug one. "Is that alcohol I smell? A hint of weed too? Wow Y/N I could really get you busted for that huh. Two arcade trips, plus lunch and ice cream after, and you have to drive me wherever I wan't for a week." You look at him angrily. "Well don't be unreasonable, Dustin." He smirked and looked back and forth between you and Steve. "Oh I don't think I'm being unreasonable, and if you can't drive me around I bet Steve can, can't you buddy." You rolled your eyes and looked to Steve who gave you somewhat of a sorry smile. "Okay fine. BUT you better make sure mom doesn't come in here like your life depends on it, you hear me?" He held his hand out to shake yours, "Pleasure doing business with you." You shook his hand and before he could go you stopped him, "Oh and while you're at it bring me your ghostbusters tape, thanks bye!" You shoved him out of your room and closed the door.
"You like ghostbusters right, or is that one too scary too?" You asked Steve, brushing off what just happened. "You told him you want to get to know me huh?" He sat back down on the bed and rubbed the back of his neck, "Well I couldn't just tell him I wanted to take you out, but I guess we're a little passed that now, aren't we?" You laugh and sit next to him, once again. "Oh, me sneaking you into my bedroom and my brother finding you? Sounds like a casual Saturday night for me." Before you could continue Dustin banged on the door. "I knocked this time i better not see any funny business!" He shouted before walking inside. "Oh my god Dustin what did I say about the yelling!" He tossed the ghost busters tape to you. "Oh, relax. Moms out cold and we both know she could sleep through the apocalypse." You sigh and shoo him out of your room now that you have what you asked him for. "Alright, alright I'm going, but I swear to god if I hear anything gross going on I'm kicking both of you out of the house." He then pointed to Steve, "And you. Don't be weird its my sister you're dealing with." and without another word he left.
"So, ready to watch a movie?"

previous part / next part
As Dustin stayed back in the car, you couldn't help but try and figure out what was going on. With Lucas by your side the both of you discreetly watched the conversation go down through a window facing your drive way. "What do you think they're talking about? Dustin looks so.... serious, and with Steve of all people I don't think I've ever seen him wear a straight face in the vicinity of him." You ask Lucas, but never peel your gaze from the window.
"Wait, wait, wait. He's smiling now! Did something change?" You prodded at Lucas again, and with no response you look to the boy, a little confused. When you notice an expression of fear on his face you follow where he's looking and realize your mom had pulled in front of the house, since the driveway was full with you and Steves car's parked there. "SHIT!" you blurt out, leaping from the window and running to the door.
As your mother got out of the car, she immediately walked up to Steve's car and knocked on the passenger side window, where Dustin was still seated. He jumped at the sound of the knock, and Steve just stared at the woman. Your mothers attention was immediately diverted to you when she heard you slam the front door. "Dustin! I told you to not hold him up and come inside!" You shouted to your brother, trying to play off the fact they were both still in the car in your driveway.
Although you all knew no harm was done during your little outing, your mother was constantly worried sick about your wellbeing, so knowing you went out without telling her where you were going, put you and Dustin both on the chopping block. "Oh hi Mom! So glad you're home, I'm just trying to get the kids ready to go to the Wheeler's when Steve stopped by, and you know Dustin, he loves the guy!" You laughed, hoping she wouldn't see through this 'mere coincidence.' Steve and Dustin both got out of the car, and Dustin hugged your mom before running inside.
"Oh , Steve! How have you been my boy!" The woman cheered, waltzing over to Steve to give him a tight hug. "What brings you over so late?" She asked. At this point Steve panicked a bit, unsure of what to say, until it finally hit him. This was his chance to take you out, and there was no way you could pass him up, because if not it meant she may not believe your little fib. "You were actually just the woman I was hoping to speak with!" He smiled. "You see, I would love to take your daughter to a movie tonight, theres a night showing of The Breakfast Club at this new theatre. It's a grand opening type thing since the old one burned down with the mall." He spoke smoothly, as if he had used this lie time and time again.
You looked at him confused, but let him continue. "What a gentleman," Your mother smiled and pinched his cheeks. "Oh Y/N dear, what do you say? It sounds like the two of you would have fun!" She grinned from ear to ear, getting excited by the thought her 'baby' may finally get themself a boyfriend. "If you'd let me, I'd love too, but someone still needs to take the boys to Mike's" you smile nervously, still baffled by what Steve had just convinced your mother. "Don't worry about them dear, I have them covered, you two just have fun!" She cheered, and went into the house to get Dustin and Lucas.
"You'd love to take me out? Really, thats your master plan Harrington?" you giggled, and moved closer to him. "Well I don't see your mother questioning anything," he shrugged, and headed back to his car. "Well, are you coming or not?" He glances over to you, and pats the top of his car. "You, Steve Harrington, are going to take me to a late showing of The Breakfast Club?" you asked. "Well I actually have no idea what's showing tonight, but I do know theres a party tonight." He smirked, but it morphed into a frown, when he was met with your deadpan stare. "Yeah, sorry Steve, but I don't think your little parties are really my kind of scene." You admit, and although you weren't opposed to hanging out with him, going to a party full of all the people you went to school with, all the people that talked behind your back, didn't necessarily sound ideal. "Oh, c'mon Henderson! It'll be fun, I'm sure you'll find a crowd somewhere!" He pleaded, and with a quite audible sigh, you nodded your head and got in the car.
The drive there was particularly fast, since you lived in a pretty central area, and nothing in Hawkins was ever very far from one place to another. As Steve parked around the block, since just about every park-able space was already taken, you could already hear the music blaring. Looking out the side mirror you could see the house in the background, people littered all over the front lawn, almost flooding out of the big house the party was being held in. Just seeing the crowd made you nervous, and you were prepared to just go home. "Hey, trust me the minute you get in there you're going to be so worried about the music draining out your thoughts, you wont even acknowledge half the people that are there." You could tell he was trying his best to be comforting, due to his tone, and it actually did make you feel a little better. You got this Y/N just tune everyone out and focus on the shitty music.
As you got out of the car you took a deep breath, and without another word walked over to the party house, and Steve just followed close behind you. The closer you got the more the bubblegum pop music rang though your ears, and you could feel yourself settle a little. Walking inside you realized no one was was really paying attention to who was where, and they were just trying their best to enjoy the night, however they saw themselves doing so. You eyed the kitchen and immediately swapped your route to make a straight shot for the countertop stacked with liquor and booze these students most likely stole from their parents cabinets. You grabbed a plastic cup and poured in whichever cheaply labeled clear liquor was closest to you into it. Then before taking a sip you mixed it with whatever punch was in the bowl beside the glass bottles.
"Woah there partner, you just got here don't go crazy on me." Steve laughed, getting himself a glass of punch as well. To your dismay, you figured out the punch was already heavily spiked, and didn't realize that til you already filled a cup full of it. "Don't worry about me Harrington, I can handle myself in a crowd just fine, and this is to loosen me up partner," you giggled waving your cup up when you referenced your drink, then took another, somewhat large, sip.
"What's going on in the backyard?" you asked, looking out the windows. "Well when it gets all noisy, people are probably doing keg stands or jumping into the pool from the roof..." he tried to say as nonchalantly as possible, "but since theres no crazy screaming, I can only assume it's mostly the stoners." He finished and took a sip of his drink. Something in that statement peaked your interest, so you immediately darted for the backyard, Steve tailing you, so you didn't get lost in the crowd. "Ahhh, now this is more like it," you sigh and survey the surroundings. It was way more calm then it was inside. People just hanging out in respective corners of the yard, smoking who knows what, and one group with their own boombox peaked your interest, since the music they were playing was much better than whatever was on inside.
You decide to walk up to them, if you were at a party, you may as well befriend some of the guests, and these guests specifically seemed like they'd be your kind of people. You sat down on the grass mid conversation, not speaking since they were. Soon enough they stopped speaking though since Steve was standing behind you, almost looming over you and the rest of the group. "Hey we don't want any trouble man." One of them said, and Steve just laughed. "Not here to cause any man, just looking after this one." He pointed to you and you waved, smiling big. "Hi! I'm Y/N and I like your music!" you were quite giddy, which was an expression Steve would liked to get used too. You went to take a sip of your drink, and the next thing you knew it was empty and you looked up to the man standing over you holding your cup out. "You don't think you could top me off, could you Harrington? I can handle myself with these kind gentlemen." You smiled, and didn't move your hand until Steve took the cup from you. Not without an eye roll and a scoff though.
"So boy's what's goin on over here?" you ask, trying to join in whatever the topic of discussion was. "Hey, you're Y/N right?" one asked you. After looking at him for a moment it hit you. You knew him as well. "OMG! You're.. Gareth? You're in my study hall!" You reach your hand forward to shake his, but instead he fist bumps you. "Yeah that's me!" He then introduces you to the rest of his group, but of course one man needed no introduction. You knew him because he's been a Senior since you were a Sophomore, 'something Munson' you thought. "Didn't really see this as your kinda scene," you admit, looking around the group. "Well Henderson, I didn't expect to see you here either," The Munson kid, or I suppose adult, snapped right back.
"Your beverage M'lady," Steve said handing you your drink back, now full of the same punch you had earlier, although after taking a sip it was minus the extra whatever you had added in. "Thank you Stevie, now take a seat I like these guys." You pat a spot on the grass next to you and he complies. "Hey Munson, you don't happen to have weed on ya by any chance, do you?" you asked, honestly a little surprised by your own words. Sure drinking and smoking wasn't new to you, but it definitely was to do it in front of so many people. You were a senior, so obviously you came by these things from time to time, but it was always something you did by yourself, kept to yourself. "Who would I be if I didn't," was al he said, before pulling out a little container, filled with pre-roll's. Steve was beyond shocked by your behavior, especially knowing your family this was a reach for you, or at least he thought it was. You aren't really the readable type so even if this was your casual Saturday night, he would've had no idea.
You smiled widely and reached over to take one, but looking up to the curly haired man for the okay before actually taking it. As you pressed it between your lips, you asked a question while fishing through your pockets for a lighter. "Hey, Munson. Don't think I caught a first name." You stated, still fishing for a lighter. "Well it's Eddie, and don't worry doll, I gotcha." He took a lighter out of his jacket pocket and lit the tip of the joint in your mouth. Steve was baffled, awestruck, not once in his life did he think he would be sitting here with you. Looking at his expression made you laugh, and with the laugh came some coughing from the smoke you were yet to exhale. You immediately chugged the rest of your drink to ease the burn. "Hey chill out big guy, you think it's weird that i know how to relax outside of babysitting my brother?" He nodded blankly. "Y-yeah a little.." you lifted up the joint to him, "Just let yourself calm down Steve," you plead. "Oh no I'm alright with one drink, I'm driving you home." you pout and lean a little closer. "We could always walk! I live not too far, just crash at my place so you don't need to go all the way home, it'll be fun!"
"Fun huh?" Steve asked. "I guess I could have a little fun."

Restless // steve harrington x reader drabble
Tumblr media
a/n: hi guys!! i am oh so tired and sleep deprived so instead of sleeping im writing a short fic for no one but myself… but im also posting it. i truly am sorry if this is horrible i actually haven’t slept in 36 hours. OH AND PT 2 OF INTIMIDATED IS IN THE WORKS!!!
summary: you’re steve’s partner and after seemingly getting no sleep for a few night, he begins to grow concearned
warnings: mild swearing
enjoy!!
1,552 words
You were tired and there was no denying it, but for some reason the past few nights sleep was coming by scarcely. Sure you couldn’t think of a logical explanation as to why, however you weren’t falling asleep and it was beginning to become an issue. You began falling asleep at ungodly hours, if you even slept at all, and it was driving you crazy.
You continued to go on with your daily life half-asleep and although it was a little more difficult, there was nothing you could do about it. As you got out of bed after laying there for hours, with nothing to do but toss and turn with hopes of falling asleep, you could feel your body react to the lack of sleep. Your limbs were endlessly sore and you felt as if the more you kept walking the closer you were to just collapsing entirely. After getting yourself dressed and ready to begin another long and exhausting day, you walked to the kitchen to throw some food together before you left for work.
Work was never unbearable since you enjoyed your job at Family Video, but acting like you were perfectly rested for Steve and Robin made it a little more difficult. You hauled yourself to your car and began your quick drive, feeling your eyelids grow heavy at any moment you didn’t have your full undivided attention on the road. As you pulled in to the employees lot, you notice a familiar car pull into the space next to you, and an undeniable head of hair come out of it. Seeing Steve always brought a smile to your face, even when you felt like you were on the verge of completely falling apart.
As you got out of your car you moved as if your limbs weren’t your own. Your motions were sluggish and lazy as you headed toward the back door of the establishment, waving to your boyfriend as he waited in place for you to catch up to him. The smile he gave in return didn’t hold up for long due to the fact that as you got closer the bags under your eyes grew more visible, even with the attempt of covering them up with some makeup before you left the house. “Hey, Y/N. You sleeping ok?” he asked out of concern. The same question he has asked the past few days prior, and of course your shot back the same response you always did. “Never better!” you tried to give your best convincing smile as you picked up your pace heading inside to be greeted by Robin, who had already started preparing to open the store.
“Hey Robin!” you tried your best to say cheerily, and the girl peeled her focus from the tapes she had been putting on shelves to you, and Steve who now stood behind you. “Well if it isn’t the dynamic duo!” she cheers walking up to the both of you. As she got closer she immediately grabbed your face and inspected it closely. “Not to be rude or anything, but are you sure you’re getting enough sleep? The bags under your eyes have grown from cary-on’s to check-in’s…” she stated, giving a sympathetic smile. You just nodded and moved from her grasp. “Like i just told Steve, never better,” you sighed, too exhausted to try and sound like your usual upbeat self.
You brushed passed the two and walked straight to one of the computers, doing your daily check for overdue, or almost due returns, writing down all the account names and numbers so you would remember to call before the end of your shift. As you continued to search through dates, Robin anxiously glanced to Steve then tried to signal to him that she was worried about you. Steve pretended to clear his throat, “Uh Robin you don’t happen to know where the water bottles in the back are do you?” and with that he had grabbed her and pulled her into the back room with him, now out of earshot of you.
“I’m not going crazy right? Y/N looks like they haven’t slept in a millennia.” Steve muttered, looking to Robin for some sort of confirmation. “Anyone and their grandmother could tell there’s something going on.” Is all she replied with, leaning on the wall behind her. “And i understand if she doesn’t wanna talk about it, but i doubt she should be working right now.” Robin finished. “I know right!” he said a little louder than he would’ve liked, but you were so out of it you hardly even noticed they were no longer chatting behind you. Steve stepped a little closer to Robin so he could speak quieter. “What should we do? What should I do?” he almost whispered, as his mind raced. All he could think about was all the terrible possibilities that could lead toward your current state. “Like I'm supposed to know! You’re the one dating them,” she sighed.
They both sat in silence for a moment, considering all of their options, until Steve’s face lit up as he had an idea he was sure would work to get to the bottom of this. Robin looked up to him in anticipation, waiting for him to spill whatever ‘genius’ plan he had just now concocted. “Well my parents are never home what if we just ask to have a sleepover? I mean if she’s spending the night with us she’s sure to crack. Right?” he asked pleadingly, hopeful that if Robin agreed this may actually work.
“That may not be a horrible idea…” she paused to think for a moment. “But! it’s obviously been a long week for her, maybe you should just do it on your own? I mean if i were here i’d love nothing more than to cuddle up to my handsome boyfriend and finally fall asleep after being away for decades.” She spoke seriously up until her last sentence, switching to a mole joking tone hugging herself and swaying when she mentioned ‘cuddling up to their handsome boyfriend.’ “Robin this is serious! I’m really worried.” Steve pleaded, only to receive a slight chuckle and nod from Robin. After shooting her a serious glance, she had stood up straight and moved her hands fo his shoulders. “This is me being serious Steve, I think what Y/N needs right now is a calm night with you.” she stated firmly, and Steve nodded in agreement. “Sleepover it is!”
As the both of them returned to the front of the store, both sets of eyes landed on you. Slumped over the counter, your head lazily resting in your palm as you stared off in the distance. Steve swiftly walked up behind you and placed a hand on your lower back. “Hey, love. Do you maybe wanna crash at my place tonight? I’ll get take out and we can watch whatever movie you want!” He spoke to you cheerfully. You stayed in the position you were already in, debating on how you should respond to the offer. “Oh i don’t know Steve…” You mumbled, and he placed his hand on your cheek turning you to face him as he leaned in closer. “C’mon babe, I’m like soooooo missing out on my Y/N time right now, and I’d love to have you over.” he begged, and who were you to turn down such an adorable pout. With a groan you respond, “Sure Steve, I don’t see why not.” you replied, bringing your focus back to your job, instead of looking dazed out the window.
Of course that wasn’t the exact answer he had hoped to hear from you, since he was truly being honest when he said he needed some ‘quality Y/N time’, but it was a yes nonetheless, and with that he was content.
The rest of work flew by particularly fast, partially because in the state you were in you had almost completely lost your grasp of time, but even more than that you were eager to get the hell out of there. As the three of you finished closing up, Steve outstretched a hand to you. “Your chariot awaits,” he joked, and you looked up to him confused. “Oh come on, let me drive you we can pick up your car in the morning.” He smiled sweetly, still waiting for you to place your hand in his, and after pausing for a moment you took his hand and headed out the door. You both said your goodbyes to Robin then loaded into Steve’s car.
The drive to Steve’s was peaceful. Your head rested tiredly on the back of your seat as you looked out the window, while Steve’s hand rested on your lap. As you pulled into the drive way, you could feel yourself get blinded by the light he had in his driveway, covering your sore tired eyes with a hand, looking away. Steve couldn’t help but feel saddened by the fact you appeared to be acting as if everything was normal, yet clearly were in pain from how much you needed some rest.
He quickly got out of the car and went around to your door, opening it for you and allowing you to step out. You weren’t on your feet for long due to the fact once you were steady Steve scooped you up in his arms and carried you towards the door. You couldn’t help but giggle as he lifted you off the ground. “Steve what are you doing?” you ask, pressing your head into his chest, allowing him to feel the vibration from your laughs throughout his whole body. “Can’t I treat my love like a princess from time to time?” You just keep your head buried in his chest as he takes you to the door, fumbling with the keys in his pocket for a moment before getting the door open.
As he carries you inside he remains careful of how he's walking with you in his arms, walking sideways to fit through narrow halls and what not until he reaches his room. Steve places you down on his bed ever so gently and kneels down to you, removing your shoes before tucking you under the covers. "Steve I can take my own shoes off y'know" you mutter, confused as to why he's treating you like this. He quickly moved to your bedside, sitting down in the open space next to you, and rubbing up and down your arm with his hand. "Look, i totally understand if somethings bothering you and you don't want to talk about it, but Y/N I can tell how tired you've been, and I just want you to be able to relax and get some rest." he admits sheepishly, sending you the warmest and most comforting smile he could muster.
You reached up to his face, resting a hand on either side as you pulled him in for a quick kiss, and he obviously longed for more due to the fact he remained in the same spot once you pulled away. "I'm sorry i haven't been honest about it, but in all honestly I don't know what the issue is. These past few nights I've just been so restless. Every night, tired as ever, I'll try and fall asleep but i just find myself tossing and turning until the sun rises." you looked down to you lap, fiddling with the blanket Steve had draped over your body. Now it was his turn to cup your cheek, and stare happily into your eyes. "Thank you for letting me know love. I'm sorry you've been struggling and I didn't try and help sooner, but I'm here now, and I can assure you that laying in my arms has never failed to lull you to sleep." He grinned confidently, and pressed a kiss to your forehead. Now how about we get you changed out of your work clothes and just skip the movie and get some rest? Does that sound good?" he asked calmly, not wanting to push too far, but hoping you would let him just help you sleep.
You nodded and rose from the bed, helping yourself to Steve's dresser drawers. Wearing his close wasn't a strange occurrence, and if anything he loved seeing you pick out whichever shirt or sweater of his looked the most comfortable and slipping off your clothes to replace them with his. He found comfort in you, and tonight he was praying to whatever god is out there that you would be able to find comfort in him and get a good nights rest. Once you were changed you looked over to your boyfriend, just staring up to you in adoration from his seat on the bed. "As much as I love you Steve, I don't want to lay on your scratchy work shirt." You giggled, tossing him a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt to change into as well. "Oh right, sorry." he meekly grinned and took the clothes to change into.
Once you were both prepped and ready to sleep, you couldn't help but to throw yourself onto Steve's comfy bed, relishing in the scent of it, the scent of him. You hadn't realized how much you missed laying in bed with him, how much you missed being near him, and so you were forever grateful he decided to speak up and ask you to come over. Steve had turned off the lights in the room, then proceeded to get under the covers next to you, immediately bringing you into his chest. You happily allowed him to pull you closer as you got comfortable, resting your head on his chest. The soothing sound of his heartbeat, and the slow rise and fall of his chest was pure bliss, and you couldn't believe you hadn't wanted to stay over sooner.
As your eyes fluttered shut for the final time that day, Steve had one hand rubbing soft circles into your back, and the other was brushing his fingers though your hair. As the rest of the world faded out all you could do was sense him. The gentle movements of his hands, the beating in his chest, the small and simple sweet nothings he whispered to you, and the gentle kisses he occasionally placed on your head. And it was as if a miracle had come to life, and you found yourself sunken into a deep and peaceful sleep with the man you love.
Steve was your miracle, and he loved you.

now playing: THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING BY NANCY SINATRA
"Hey do you wanna uh.. do you wanna tag along?"
The idea hadn't even crossed your mind since you knew the boys, Dustin especially, loved their 'Steve time' but once he actually asked you to come with, you couldn't help but to say, "Sure why not!" Cheerily you move your weight from leaning on the doorframe to your feet and make your way to his car, where the boys were still arguing over who gets in the front seat. "Hate to break it to ya kids, but Steve ever so kindly asked me to come with and I sure as hell am not squeezing in the back with one of you." you stifled a laugh as both of them frowned and climbed in the backseat, not wanting to protest since it was your money they were going to try and spend on just about anything other than what it was supposed to be for.
As you looked back to the house, Steve was still standing on the porch, surprised you'd even accept. He thought to asked just to be nice, but didn't really see you as the type to want to get out of the house more than you needed too. You let out a loud whistle to get his attention. "C'mon Harrington the car wont drive itself," instantly pulling him out of his thoughts he heads towards the car, opening the door and sitting down, initiating you to do the same.
Once he puts the keys in the ignition and starts to pull out of your driveway you decided to take a look around the car. The space is new to you so you decide to observe it, take everything in. " You got any cd's?" you ask. There's never a silent moment when you're driving, always having something playing when you make your way around town. "Oh yeah you can look through the glove box and pick one out," he stated, gesturing to its location with his hand, but keeping his eyes on the road.
As you shuffled through them, nothing really caught your eye, instead a laugh caught in your throat. "What?" he ask's a little confused at why you're holding back laughter while looking at the cd's. "Sorry, it's just pretty much all you have is the beach boys and wham!" He rolled his eyes and closed the glove box. "Well if you don't like my music you don't have to listen to it." He let out a bit of a nervous laugh. He knew the music you were into, and he could only assume just by your appearance that you didn't rock out to 'wake me up before you go-go.'
"Well don't get butt hurt, I'm just teasing," you reopen the glove box to look again, then pull a random one out, giggling before you could even make your point. "Just because I'd never own a.." you had to pause to let out a few laughs once reading the cover of what was in your hand. "a Nancy Sinatra cd, doesn't mean it's bad music." Steve jokingly pretended to be hurt and took the cd from your hand. "If I'm giving you a free ride, you aren't allowed to laugh at Nancy Sinatra!" You held your hands up in surrender as your laughing fit finally calmed down. "Fine fine you're right that was rude of me. Please allow me to play it." you gestured and took it from his hand, opening the case then placing the cd in the cars stereo and hit play, listening as 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' comes on.
Lucas and Dustin both just watched the two of you interact, dumbfounded by the fact you two were getting along? Of course they both knew you and Steve weren't complete strangers, i mean hell you fought off a giant flesh monster together with fireworks! But that was just about all the communication you've ever had other than crossing paths for the occasional pick up and drop offs of Dustin. Lucas slowly leaned toward Dustin to whisper in his ear. "Dude, your sister looks like she's kinda... enjoying herself?"
Steve wasn't wrong about the fact you don't get out much, other than driving kids around, school, and occasional errands you really didn't do much, or hang out with many people. I mean you were just the loner. The scarily intimidating loner. You didn't get invited to parties, or participate in sports. You just kept to yourself, and you didn't mind it all that much. That is until you did... Being the loner can get lonely right?
"There's no way... Surely they're just amusing him right? I mean I know Y/N doesn't really have friends, but they know how to start a conversation. Probably just bored or something." Dustin whispered back to Lucas, reassuring him that there's no way in hell you of all people are happy to make small talk with Steve. According to Dustin you and Steve live in completely different worlds, and watching those worlds mix when their lives weren't on the line was beyond strange.
Soon enough you arrived at the ice cream parlor, but of course the boys had ulterior motives, since the second Steve parked they both sprinted out of the car to the comic book store a few buildings down. "Jesus these kids are too much," you sigh and unbuckle your seat belt. "I guess this is the part where we chase after them?" Steve replied unbuckling his seatbelt as well. "Eh, might as well let them look around for a bit, but if they spend all the money i gave them you're paying for ice cream," you grinned. "Somehow i sensed I'd be paying anyways."
The both of you got out of the car and decided to just wait outside until the kids were done. "So Steve, you follow them around so you can fight off the monsters they snuff out, or do you actually like them?" you asked, and he looked down to you, deciding if he should answer honestly or joke about it. What would she want to hear? He thought. Going with the latter he responded, "I mean wouldn't you constantly tail them if it meant you got to be a badass monster slayer?" You raised a brow and retorted, "I wouldn't go that far, you 'slay monsters' like a little league player." He pretended to be hurt and held a hand to his chest with a gasping. "I'll let you know I was the best little league player in all of Hawkins back in the day." The both of you let out a few laughs and the banter carried on until you decided to check the time and realized it was about to get dark.
"Shit," you muttered, and glanced to Steve who seemed concerned. "My mom's gonna be home in 30, and she has no idea we're out. If she gets home and see's my car but an empty house she's gonna lose her shit!" You yelled, and headed straight inside to find the boys shuffling through racks of comic books. "What the fuck is taking you so long?" you ask, visibly irritated. "Calm down Y/N we're just looking around!" Dustin replied. "You were 'just looking around' for almost twenty minutes! If we aren't home before mom you can kiss your little game night goodbye." Dustin immediately looked out the door window and notice the sun beginning to go down, signaling to him it was at least 6:30, and messily put everything he was looking at back on the rack and ran out, Lucas following suit. "Sorry!" The boys shouted in unison to the man behind the counter before they were out the door. You just gave an apologetic smile and shrug before you were out of the building as well.
"Damn, you can get them moving quickly. It takes me at least five 'can we please go' 's before any of them listen to me." Steve stated, almost impressed at how easily they'll listen to you. "If you want them to listen you need to threaten to take away privileges or else the little shits think they can do whatever they want." You respond, walking toward the ice cream store instead of the car like everyone else, and they all looked to you confused.
"What? we came here for ice cream didn't we? It'll take 10 minutes to get home and we have about 25 until my ass is grass, so we may as well not go home empty handed." You state as you walk inside. The boys cheered and headed toward the door, Steve holding it open so they can run in, and then walked in behind them. "Ok, figure out what you want quick we don't have a lot of-" before you could finish your sentence, Steve was already telling the worker everyone's order, and surprisingly got everyone's correct.
"You never told me you were a mind reader Harrington." You laughed, then pulled out the money you had swiped back from the kids after leaving the comic store to pay for everyone. "Well first off, sadly I am no mind reader, but serving all of you at scoops three times a week makes it easy to remember what you always get, and don't worry I can pay," he pushes your hand aside and pulls out his wallet, as the server sets the group's order on the counter. "Oh please, there's no way you'd want to pay for Dustin's fifty thousand toppings, just let me do it." And before he could say anything you had already handed the cash to the server.
Steve didn't respond. In all honesty he was unsure how too. He works a stable job and is used to practically buying everything for the kids whenever he takes them out, but maybe he could get used to your company, and you insisting to pay. "Come get your shit kiddos!" you call to them and they happily came over to pick up whichever scoops of ice cream they could identify as their own. You grabbed your order afterward and Steve took his, then the four of you headed back out side.
"Oh, I didn't even think to ask if they're allowed to eat in your car." you stated, stopping in your tracks. "Well it wouldn't be the first time." is all Steve replied with before unlocking the car and getting in. As you were walking to sit in the front Dustin swiftly beat you to it, slamming the door shut and locking it from the inside, then he stuck his tongue out at you. "Dustin I already said that I'm not sitting in the back seat what the hell is your problem?" you asked, trying not to raise your voice so much since you're in public. "You snooze you lose!" He shouted so you could hear him through the shut door. Normally you would figure out how to get him out of there, but knowing you're on a time crunch you decided to let him have it just once and sit in the back with Lucas. "Fine, whatever..." you sigh and get in the car.
While on your way home, the cd you had put in earlier was still playing and all of you ate your ice cream. You decided to make some small talk with Lucas about what was new in the comic store, since Dustin was happily chatting with Steve in the front. It was sweet how much Dustin adored Steve. You never had anything against Steve, sure you could only assume at one point you would've been the butt of all of his jokes, but just as the populars liked to make fun of the losers, you from time to time would find yourself laughing at him.
Something had changed though, and you could tell. Slowly King Steve just faded into Steve and you were content with the fact he could be the providing Dustin with a role model. It was no secret the both of you had an absent father, but there was something about Steve that filled those shoes in Dustin's eyes, and for that you were forever grateful.
Whilst chatting with Lucas in the back seat, Lucas couldn't help but notice Steve's repetitive glances at you through the rearview mirror, and he was surely going to tell Dustin once they got home. That was until Dustin spoke, "Hello? Earth to Steve!" drawing out his words, bringing everyone's attention to the driver, as a faint redness rose to his cheeks. "Would you chill out Dustin? I'm trying to drive here." he responded almost coldly, upset that Dustin brought the fact he was completely zoned out to everyone's attention. "Well obviously you aren't trying hard enough, you just passed my street" Dustin retorted. "Shit." was all he could mutter in response, as he took a U-tun and pulled into your driveway.
Everyone thanked Steve and began to get out of the car except for Dustin, who grabbed Steve's arm to keep him from leaving just yet. "What the hell is your problem?" the boy asked, genuinely confused as to why Steve seemed so dazed. "What are you talking about?" Steve replied. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. Not only did you invite Y/N to come with us, but you were all over her the whole time!!" Steve sighed and shifted in his seat to face him. "Look, I'm sorry I thought it was a good idea to get to know my best friends sibling, I wont push further." Dustin was immediately content with the fact Steve referred to him as his best friend, and felt bad for nagging. "No you're right I'm sorry, I suppose I should get used to the both of you being friends, Y/N is actually your age after all.."
Sure just getting to know you because you were Dustin's older sibling wasn't the only motive he had, but he knew what to say to keep the kid from pushing. He had really enjoyed the short conversations you had with him, and it kept him longing for more, wishing and begging for more. Something inside you drove him crazy and he wouldn't rest until he could figure out what it was. Maybe there was just something going on with the Henderson's that made him feel like himself because lord knows he wouldn't be where he is today without Dustin, and maybe one day he could say the same about you...

Intimidated: Prologue// a Steve Harrington x Dustin's sibling! reader
Tumblr media
not my gif!!
a/n: Greetings! This is my first fic in a while so i hope it serves you well. I have been finding so many Steve fics where he's dating Dustins older sibling, and I think they're the cutest thing in the world, so obviously I had to write one of my own. This is a first part in what i hope to make a series, since my ideas always flood the page... so enjoy!
warnings: i like my fics real fluffy so not much just mild swearing
summary: you're Dustin's older sibling and although Steve is never someone you'd find yourself talking too, he happens to keep showing up in your home to visit his best buddy, so obviously some introductions (and maybe unexpected connections) are made! This is a bit of a background chapter just to get an understanding of the readers relationships to the characters so that i can get into the good stuff >:)
THERE ARE NO SEASON 4 SPOILERS!! but season 4 characters may appear or be mentioned among further installments! This story takes place after season 3 around the time the main kids would be starting freshman year! OH AND you're a senior at Hawkins high.

now playing: STILL LIFE BY IRON MAIDEN
"Y/N IF YOU DO NOT TURN THAT MUSIC DOWN IM COMING UP THERE AND UNPLUGGING IT!" You couldn't help but stifle a laugh at your younger brothers protests. He had Lucas over to play games on the Atari he had saved up for, and finally had the chance to buy, and boy was he excited. Its not every day mainstream items made their way to the store shelves in Hawkins. "YOU KEEP COMPLAINING AND I'M UNPLUGGING YOUR PRECIOUS CONSOLE!" is all you said back. The only reason you were listening to your music so loud in the first place was to drown out the boys shouts, but of course Dustin didn't like that, and next thing you knew he was banging on your door.
As you get up to unlock the door, Dustin shoves right past you on a mission to reach your prized record player. "Dustin what the fuck!" you state as you reach a hand out grabbing him by the wrist and stopping him in his tracks. "HEY!" is all he can say before he looks up to you, not wanting to press after seeing the glare you were giving him. "Barge into my room again and you aren't going to your little playdate tonight." He just scoffed and rolled his eyes, so you pressed further twisting his wrist in your grasp. Not enough to hurt him badly though, and Lucas just stared blankly in the hallway, not daring to step into your room. "Now get out, and if you want the music quieter try and stop shouting... please?" you softened your grip as you spoke, and Dustin gave what appeared to be an understanding nod, so you let go. As Lucas let out an audible sigh of relief, Dustin let out a soft giggle before sprinting to unplug your record player and took a straight shot for the door before you even realized what had happened.
"DUSTIN! GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT!!" you yelled chasing him through the house, as he ran screaming. Luckily your mom wasn't home or else you'd both be in trouble from the noise and knocked over items in your wake, but as of right now dustin was the only one about to have his ass handed to him. When you finally got him cornered all the way downstairs into the kitchen you grabbed him by the face and looked him dead in the eyes. "Dustin Henderson you know what happens when you go in my room, and not only did you welcome yourself into my room, YOU TOUCHED MY SHIT!" he just stared at you blankly as you were fuming, but then you heard the doorbell.
"Lucas, honey could you get the door please?" you say kindly, but your expression never wavered, and although you never turned around to look at him he just nodded and complied. All of Dustin's friends liked you, some adored you even, but they all also mutually agreed to never fuck with you because they would rather die than be in Dustins position right now.
As Lucas swung the door open, none other than Steve Harrington stood in the doorway. "Oh hey Lucas!" you could hear him say cheerily. Rolling your eyed you sighed and let go of your brother, as he internally thank the heavens Steve happened to make a guest appearance, whilst rubbing his jaw to soothe where your grip just was. "Oh goodie, Harrington decided to show up," you scoff, now leaning on the counter, where you were visible to the open doorway. "I'm kind of in the middle of reprimanding your bestie back here if you don't mind." Steve just looked at you confused until Dustin walked up behind you and gave an exasperated wave. "Hey Steve.." he said quietly, unsure if he should even be interrupting, or just wait for his sisters reign of terror to fall back on him.
"Well then I'm sorry to interrupt, but Dustin told me you were going to let me take the kids for ice cream." he said unsurely, rubbing the back of his neck. If anyone was intimidated by you it was definitely Steve Harrington. Although he's only really known of you since the events of Star Court Mall, there was something about you that made him always want to walk on the other side of the hall when he passed you, but that wasn't a bad thing in his opinion. Whatever it was that was steering him away from you ended up drawing him in closer. He found your hard exterior fascinating, and even though it made him nervous in your presence he found it endearing.
"Oh he did now?" you angrily turn to your brother. "I don't recall him asking. Do you remember asking me, Dustin?" He gulps and after being frozen in fear for a moment he shakes his head no. You finally allow yourself to calm down from the events prior and rest a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Dustin, did you really have to call him just to go get ice cream? I could've taken you y'know." You gave a bit of a softer smile now. Although to the outside eye, your arguments with your brother may seem very heated, you both knew you loved each other, and getting under the others skin was something that happened often and the both of you normally brush it off before it gets too extreme.
"Now since you made him drive all the way out here to take you, i don't see why not, but you have to say sorry. Oh and bring me something home, okay?" He nods and mumbles, "I'm sorry Y/N..." "For?" you press. "I'm sorry for going into your room without permission, and for unplugging your record player." You smile, satisfied with his response, and then go digging through your pocket for your wallet. "Ok I'm giving you a whole ten dollars, so you better not make Steve pay for the two of you. Oh and while you're at it try and get some real food so I don't have to make the two of you dinner when you get home." You held out the ten dollar bill and Dustin happily took it from you, prancing to the door.
You follow behind to say a few words to the two boys at the door who just stood and watch the scene, sharing a few glances as it all unfolded. "Okay! you boys better behave and stay out of trouble," you look up to Steve. "And please don't be afraid to scold them i know they can get a little out of control, but they better come home in one piece because if something happens under your watch, it happened under my watch, so don't make me regret trusting you." Steve just nodded silently, and the boys ran out to his car arguing over who got to sit shotgun. Steve looked almost scared to speak as he just stood in the doorway, mouth agape as if there was something he wanted to say, but couldn't get out the right words, until..
"Hey, do you wanna uh.. do you wanna tag along?"
