On my KNEES begging Hermes to help find my lost package. My favorite author sent me an ARC of her new book, but it was marked delivered yet never arrived to my home. So my ARC is floating somewhere where it’s not supposed to go and USPS says they can’t do anything since it does say delivered (😒)

#it was my first physical arc #and I love this author so so so much #so I was devestated when there was no package #and just to have usps say ‘well it says delivered so we can’t do anything now’ is fucking heartbreaking #I messaged the author already to tell her #but it’s just so discouraging now #literally don’t know what to do besides wait until I can file a claim and light candles to Hermes #so big boy- I am BEGGING (and I’ll have offerings later)

Not witchy related but-

Our hostess and my sister always talk romance books together since it’s what they read. One time, I was asked what my book was about, and before I could even start talking about it, they continued over me about one of their reads. So I just kinda stopped talking about my books since I don’t really relate to them (I usually read fantasy and sci-fi).

My friend, my sweet sweet yet poor friend for having to deal with me, has so gracefully handled all my book rambles without any clue as to what I’m talking about half the time. But she always just nods and hears me out and idk, it’s so simple but it always makes my day 😭

#I’ve straight up vented on books TWICE now and I’ll drop thoughts as I read too #and it’s just the acknowledgment I think #like I hear her out with her hobbies too #so it’s nice to also be heard out in return! #idk it’s just such a simple thing but it makes me happy #because I love talking about my books too but it’s disheartening when I’m not even considered #all bc we don’t read the same genre

It’s been a while, but I finally lit incense again, made an offering to my gods, bought myself flowers, and did a lemon protection spell to help cleanse and re-protect myself and my energy.

The incense I burned has followed me about the room. There’s no fans, no air on since it’s a fresh night and chilly inside already, nobody walking to disturb the smoke. Just straight up incense wafting my direction in the room- I definitely had some bad vibes to get rid of

I feel like I was peak prosperity when I was in college because every time I was sad or felt off, I’d literally bake. I come home, and I’ve got no functional oven so it’s been a year since I’ve baked something and it’s so upsetting.

I used to make BOMB chocolate chip cookies, strawberry white chocolate cookies, lemon bars- I mean, I worked with so much cleansing and protection ingredients because I had the time and resources to bake. Now I’m struggling to find ways to find my magic again in ways that don’t involve baking and it’s so hard- because I love to bake so much 😭

#personal rant #just thinking abt it because I’m making a lemon cleanse for work #and I realized that I haven’t felt so- refreshed since uni #and the only difference is that I haven’t baked #I cook yeah- make coffees as usual and teas #but I haven’t baked my famous lemon bars in so long #I mean- my friends FLOCKED to my place whenever I baked because it was so good #I had a friend say she dreamt about my lemon bars for a week #and I feel so robbed that I haven’t made any 😭 #about to break into my sister’s house to bake I guess

Came to the craft store for candles to replace some on my altar with, left with plenty more extra items than I needed (the washi tape was on sale okay-)

Asked my gods today for help and cast a little charm on my tea to jumpstart the recovery from this cough I’ve had- tell me why I’m sitting at my desk and my cat won’t stop staring at my altar. She was just sitting in front of it and looking up at it 🥺 my sweet bby is letting me know that the gods have stopped by, I’m sure

You know I’ve been gone a while when I had to update my bio so it shows I’m 23 now and no longer in college (graduated last may) 😅😅

Trying to make a comeback because I’ve gotten way too many signs to go back to my roots and my work. Baby steps, but hopefully this blog will revive and stay alive!!

Are you a student and you don’t wanna buy a copy of Homer? Are you new to Hellenic Polytheism and don’t know where to start? Here’s some of my trade secrets that I now give to tumblr. 

Good old Theoi.com there’s NOTHING online even close to Theoi.com for sheer number of sources, references, and places to get started with research. Almost every primary source (Including Homer and Orpheus) is here to read in your browser. If you’re here just for Homer, Theoi.com uses T. Murray’s translation for The Iliad and the Odyssey. 

The Chicago Homer – has The Iliad, The Odyssey, Hesiod’s Theogony and Works and Days, The Shield of Herakles, and of course The Homeric Hymns, in Greek and English. This is helpful if you need specific lines. If you’re here just for Homer this is Lattimore’s translation of the Iliad and James Huddleston’s Odyssey.

The Hymns of Orpheus in the original Greek and Thomas Taylor’s (clearly superior) translations as a handy dandy PDF for your searchable pleasure.

Greek Religion Dictionary by J. Greg Deane has a glossary of most of the terms you might need. 

This Date Converter type in the day/month/year and click “Attic Calendar” and this gives you the modern Western date and the date on the Attic calendar (as in the calendar of the region of Attica Greece/what a good chunk of ancient Greece used). If there’s any festivals on this day, it’s usually pretty good at explaining what they are, though it’s missed some in the past. Because the Greek calendar is LUNAR, the dates move every single year. (when I’m bored I like to check my anniversary in a random year to see if it was a festival or not)

Update: I am on the mend. I’ve been able to eat and not feel sick. I’ve had two actual semi-full meals today instead of the barely-nibbled snacks I’ve had for the past three days.

Life is great. I love the gods. I owe them better tasting wine as soon as my check goes through

I’ve been dealing with some minor but annoying health issues and totally just unceremoniously cracked open this wine can I forgot I had and poured it out for the gods at my altar, hoping, PRAYING somebody would answer and take this annoying thing away 😭😭

#literally how I fought depression in college #I’d get dressed up and put on makeup that made me feel nice #and I’d either just go out to get coffee and study #or I’d sit in my room and just do work there #but the act of getting dressed up just felt nice and made me feel better
