Like, I love McDanno, but even without it going there, I still really appreciate and love their friendship and that they're not afraid to love each other as friends, either.

Okay, I gotta be honest, the almost pirates of the carribbean music is throwing me off.

The way Danny always dances with Grace is just adorable.

Okay! And having kissed and dances with Catherine, Steve is now dancing with Danny. I have never seen a show do this with the two main male leads before. Never.

Interesting how much Danny wants to know where Steve is standing with Catherine... his protective instincts are just awesome regardless of whether you see it as romantic or romantic or whatever.

But I am intrigued as to why he's so happy at the idea of Steve proposing. Is this forced cheer? Does he really think she's gonna say yes? Can he not imagine someone not saying yes to Steve? Is he just happy that either way Steve will have an answer?

Danny spilling the beans to the team... okay, that seems ooc for him. Danny are you trying to sabotage? Are you unable to cope with your own feelings? What is going on?

(He's also assuming that of course she'll say yes to Steve despite the fact that before Steve mentioned proposing he was worried she was gonna run off and break his heart again)

I genuinely like Catherine as a character, and wish we had more strong female characters in the show. But I just don't see her and Steve working long-term.

They actually seem to get along best when they only see each other occasionally. And that's okay. Some relationships ships are like that. It doesn't mean they don't care about each other.

But it's obvious that they don't get enough from their relationship with each other - they need more than that.

I think it can also lead into an interesting discussion of relationships and how society prioritises romantic and sexual relationships.

Because by this point, while I adore Mcdanno, I'd also be happy if they never get together romantically/asexually, but comity to each other. This is my person who I can't imagine life without.

And DADT is a whole nother aspect to consider when looking at Steve's character.

I need to go back to when it was airing (as I'm only watching now) and see how that lines up with the repeal of DADT, but so much of Steve's character makes sense when viewed with that in mind.

Including the way he relaxes when Catherine is around because his beard is intact

In like, the first or second episode, Steve tells Danny that when he says "book 'em, Danno", it's a term of endearment.

Endearment!

He's been calling Danny by 'terms of endearment' their whole relationship. He is not subtle.

Okay, I just have to comment on the fact that Steve and Danny do more communicating about where they're gonna live and the future of their lives (see Danny and Steve talking about the possibility of Danny leaving when Rachel and Stan wanted to in an earlier season) than Steve and Catherine do.

Whatever they have going for them, Steve and Catherine are really failing at the communication thing.

I know the bit at the end suggests Catherine's on a mission or being coerced or whatever - not unexpected, either, that there's something else going on - but I just find it weird that, for a couple, all their decisions are made individually.

Even the fact that Steve just accepts she's leaving and her reasoning without any discussion of trying to figure things out together.

It suggests an incompatibility despite whatever love they may have for each other.

(Also knew she'd be leaving as there was no Catherin in the opening credits)

Danny is gonna be so pissed when he finds out.

Some H50 Season 5 thoughts...

I adore Steve and his 'adoption' of Nahele

Couples therapy, need I say more?

The stakeout in the apartment is gold, but honestly - Steve holding a cat still wins that episode (especially since Mr Pickles looks quite similar to my furbaby)

Steve and Danny defeating the cartel members off-screen is BAMF

But I'm really not happy with Danny just shooting the guy - for a number of reasons. Not just morally, but it seems out of character both for Danny and for Reyes. Yeah, Reyes guys were dead, but that's no reason for him not to still fight - it just seemed strange to me how it went down... it seemed forced rather than flowing

Having seen more and how it comes back into the plot, I now see it as as bit of a forced plot point

Which also didn't seem to be a plot point even the show wanted to dwell on seeing as they fixed it all in one episode that seemed really rushed to me

Happily just pretending that whole episode didn't happen (18) - although I'll take the Steve and Grace scenes

Steve crying over all the kids killed by the serial killer is just 😘

Love the fact that Kono gets herself to shore after being lost at sea - the show is light on great female characters but at least they get Kono right. But I found it weird that Steve didn't steal a chopper to go looking for her when told he couldn't.

Okay, I knew the Charlie storyline was coming seeing as I spoiled myself, but it was still really emotional

Final ep was great. Action. Drama. Etc. And of course Danny went up in the helo with Steve. That wave looked amazing. And I love how Chin just sticks to his morals the whole way - Gabrielle can't even tempt him.

100th ep - just brilliant. Beautiful. Steve was amazing. Etc. Could do a whole post just on this ep. Loved the ending.

I found it😳 years ago, I saw this pix of Scott after his knee surgery on Livejournal (yeah, I know. definitely dating myself and how long I’ve been in the fandom) and then I could never find the photo again.

This weekend, I stumbled across a spam site with stolen bits of interviews—and this photo!! If anybody can give me a photo credit, I will be glad to add it. (not going to link the website, cuz I’m like 90% sure the site has malware. Fortunately, I have a junk laptop I keep for just such occaisons—and it was too old to get infected😂😂😂)
