The America Conflict, Part 2
The Californian Civil War
As the Provisional Government began to crumble, so did its State Allies. The first to fall to similar factionalism as the central government was California, leading to the government splitting between the Provisional State of California (Loyal to the Provisional Government) and the Free California Republic (with the support of the Liberal wing of the government).
In the north, Arnold Schwarzenegger and his supporters continued to fight for the Provisional Government of the United States, swaying many of the Constitutionalists and Conservatives in the State and California Senate to their side.
In the south, ex-governor Jerry Brown leads coalition government of Liberals and Federalists. Their goal is to see California become a free power and an Independent player in the Civil War, not shackled by the mismanagement and ineffectiveness of the Provisional Government.
This split created two weak and ineffective governments, both of which were openly hostile to the Socialists that previously held roles in the California Senate. When the Free Republic attempted to fortify San Francisco, the Local Divisions blocked their entry and declared the Californian People's Republic.
Across the state, those disgruntled with the Californian Governments rose up in support of the Revolutionary Movement led by Peter Camejo, and a third faction entered the fray.
In the isolated deserts of Nevada, the remaining loyal soldiers of the United States Army sat in defense. Area 51 was buzzing with activity as loyalist commanders and politicians selected General Tommy Franks to lead the isolated Junta. This remnant army would be a scourge to the people and militaries of the neighboring states for years to come.
In Arizona, the Navajo Nation swiped up other minor reservations into itself before declaring its Independence and Neutrality in the Californian Civil War. Led by Joe Shirley Jr, the Nation's policy certainly leaned more towards the Free Republic, but by being neutral, he gained concessions from all factions around him.
The Californian Civil War would go on for years, and is often seen by historians as a minor tangent when talking about the wider American Conflict, but in many ways it was a Civil War within a Civil War: All factions would focus almost entirely on each other throughout, with little outside conflict until California was nearly consolidated.

The America Conflict, Part 1
On May 8th, 2004, President George W Bush declared that the National Guard of the United States is now to be under direct control of the Executive Branch of Government. This announcement is made due to a variety of factors, including the extreme violence in Florida during the 2000 election and the recent Terrorism in the Nation. The Senate protested, but instead of listening, Bush ordered the senate dissolved.
Some States, however, did not accept this. On May 10th, the Illinois National Guard marched on Springfield, declaring the Bush Regime illegitimate and proclaiming the formation of the Provisional Government. The Senate, already in fear of a Purge by Bush, joined them.
Over the next few days, various states chose to side with the Provisional Government. Some, like Texas and California, declared a temporary independence and pledged loyalty to the Provisionals as allied states, but most have little choice but to join completely.
In Mississippi and Alabama, the situation was very different. Although the consensus within the states is that Bush had overstepped, the governments of both states had a deep disliking of the "liberal controlled" Provisional Government. They instead formed their own emergency government in the Free States of America, with Florida as an allied state.
In cities across the United States, Socialist paramilitaries seized the opportunity to take up arms against their Capitalist overlords, taking control of Rust Belt and East Coast cities. Though their numbers were small for the moment, the collapse of supply chains brought thousands to their cause.
After mass defections, the Provisional Government and Allies managed to push the Bush Junta to the outskirts of Washington DC, but victory was not assured. As the Provisionals gained power, so did the factions within it.
The Right wing faction, led by Newt Gingrich, wished for leniency for Bush's supporters, as well as a return to the old Constitution. They also wished to negotiate with the Free States of America to allow a slow reintegration.
The Liberal faction, led by Jerry Brown, wished to arrest swathes of Bush's supporters and generals, and a reforging of the constitution with more rights to the states. They wished to invade the Free States of America, and only accept unconditional surrender from the Southern Traitors.
And the Center faction, led by Al Gore, wished to toe the line between these two to hopefully avoid splitting the fragile government.
By the time the Provisional Army had reached the outskirts of DC, the tension between these groups had reached a boiling point, but only time could tell who would end up on top in a second power struggle.

The only real way I can see this happening is if the Catholic Church was more lenient and less corrupt in the first place.
If this were the case, a fairly large amount of European conflict in the 16th and 17th centuries could be avoided, and the idea of nation-states would have to evolve from some other place than the Treaty of Westphalia.
We might see Feudalism and Absolutism reign longer in Germany and Northern Europe, as the German Peasants' War wouldn't happen (at least in the same scale that it did in OTL)
Maybe I'll make a scenario on this later, but its a fantastic idea!
Tired of sci-fi alternate histories where the Nazis won. Has anyone ever written an alternate history where the Protestant Reformation never happened?

Premier Molotov Timeline 4: The Yugoslav Conflict (1997-1999)
Ethnic Tensions after the death of Tito in 1980 have led to chaos.
Although President Nijaz Duraković has tried his hardest to keep control, many politicians openly call for the Decentralization of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and some radicals even believe that the only way forward is tot disestablish the nation completely. These tensions culminated in 1997, when Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia declared the Yugoslav Confederation under the leadership of Franjo Tuđman. With the support of the United Kingdom and France, it seemed like a shot worth taking.
Yugoslavia had been in an alliance of European non-alligned socialists called the Venice Pact, along with Greece (led by Aleka Papariga) and Italy (led by Armando Cossutta). These allies assisted the Government by sending troops and supplies.
The Hungarian Chairman Gyula Thürmer offered intervention in exchange for partial control of Hungarian majority areas in Vojvodina, which Duraković reluctantly accepted.
After 16 months of fighting, a peace agreement was made: Yugoslavia would give more autonomy to the republics, Bosnia would be split, and the Capital would be moved to Sarajevo.
The conflict would be remembered in Yugoslavia as an unneeded tragedy, where Nationalism triumphed over the Brotherhood and Unity that was so core to the nation.
Government Casualties: 8,466
Confederation Casualties: 12,955
Foreign Casualties: 985

Premier Molotov Timeline part 1: 1970 Europe Map.
The year is 1970 and the world is very different.
After the death of Stalin in 1953, a power struggle broke out within the higher offices of the Soviet Union. Lavrentiy Beria was ousted after only a few months in power, and Khrushchev was forced out of politics by a group of hardliner Marxist-Leninists, Vyacheslav Molotov becoming the leading figure of the regime. After a "Final Purge" of revisionists, Molotov took up the cause of the Interventionists, dedicating his premiership to spiting the West whenever possible.
Now, after 17 years of on and off blockade, West Berlin has been ceded to East Germany in exchange for a free Visa for all Berliners, a blank cheque as far as the FRG treasury is concerned, a 10-mile DMZ on the soviet side of the border for 20 years, and a ceasing of all support for the Turkish Communists.
More to come, every country has lore so feel free to ask!
