Pairing(s): Mike x Reader. You’re Brenner’s bio kid.
Warning(s): Brenner I guess, child experimentation
A/n: a little short, sorry. Sorry if there are any mistakes. I’m writing this on the fly nothing is planned it’s just BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM. Please like, reblog and comment :)
——————————————————
You remember one specific test your father did.
”I need you to focus, Y/n. Can you feel them? Your brothers and sisters?” Came Brenner’s voice.
Your eyes closed as you reached out to each of your siblings, feeling their emotions but soon focused on Eleven and you frowned. She was sad. She felt alone.
“I- I can’t… the others… they blend together.” You spoke.
“So you’ve singled one out?” He asked curiously.
“Eleven.” You said. “She’s… sad.”
You opened your eyes when you heard him mutter something and watched as one of the men left but shortly returned with Eleven by the arm.
“Focus, can you still feel her?”
Your eyes closed again as you reached out to her, only her sadness, now mixed with worry, was amplified.
You ripped the sensors off your head, breath heaving as you felt tears roll down your cheeks.
“Fascinating…” your father spoke and coaxed you out of the room, wiping your tears before hugging you. “You did so well, Y/n.”
You closed your eyes once more, this time reaching out to him.
You felt nothing.
~~~~~~~~
“You’ve been zoning out a lot recently.” Mike frowned, taking your hand in his. “What’s going on?” He asked, obviously worried.
“Everything is just… flooding back. Some of it is still fuzzy.” You said, nuzzling into him.
“Your memories of the lab?” He asked and you nodded. “Papa was… nicer to me. He never even put me in solitary! The others noticed though. One day the stronger ones surrounded me and beat me up. Papa was furious. It had only happened once before, to El. Once it happened to me… their screams were so loud.” You started to sob.
“Hey- hey, I’m right here.” He said, holding you closer to himself.
“I escaped with El a-and… I couldn’t feel them anymore. They were gone.” You hiccuped. “They we’re all gone.”
He didn’t know what to say so he just held you there against his chest and let you cry.
~~~~~~~~
Cry.
It’s the first thing you did when you pulled yourself out of the tunnel after Eleven.
Her eyes held such fear a child her age shouldn’t have to and you held her close.
“Gone?” She asked softly.
“Yes,” you sniffled. “I can’t feel them anymore. They’re gone.”
