oh, 100%! imo, it looks like an indulgent "i am really fond of you" smile.

I have no idea where this "Tommy doesn't smile at Buck" idea came from, because since 7x03, there has not been a single damn episode they share in which Tommy hasn't smiled at Buck at some point. 7x03: He and Buck smile at each other once the rescue is over. 7x04: He smiles during the Harbor Tour several times. He smiles during the basketball game when he sees Buck and Chimney. He smiles a hell of a lot in the loft kiss scene. 7x05: He smiles during their date. He smiles during the coffee scene several times, including the biggest, scrunchiest smile when he agrees to go to the wedding with Buck. 7x06: He smiles at Buck when he sees him at the bachelor party. He smiles at Buck when they're in the hospital room. 7x09: He smiles at Buck while he's getting his medal.

And now I’m having feelings about how Buck and his cooking as an expression of care. I love that he’s canonically a good cook, but he just does not go to the effort for everybody. Even when his parents were in town, it was takeout lol. Their relationship has improved but he still wouldn’t invite the possibility of their criticism (even if personal taste is always fair), especially since it’s something he learned from Bobby. Something that Bobby has given his official Good Grade on. He cooks for the people most dear to him, and Tommy’s now included in that. 🥰

And now I’m picturing him, in the Fanfic Gap of Bobby’s hiatus recovery, cooking for Bobby all this super-healthy cardiologist-approved stuff, watching the vitamin K and all, and Bobby being deeply touched but also trying really hard not to be like… butter, please? Istg it’s genetics over lifestyle Buck, please can I have some salt? I’ve just been stressed out nearly constantly for my whole entire life but good news I’m retired now, a cheeseburger isn’t going to kill me!

Like wherever they end up staying until they find or rebuild a new home, Buck’s gonna be all up in that kitchen, and Bobby’s going to be seeing a lot more of Tommy as a result, and trying to get Tommy on his side, but it’s a fool’s errand, Tommy will eat whatever extremely health-conscious meals Buck comes up with in solidarity and give him the soppiest heart-eyes because he sees how much Evan worries and this is something that he can actually do to help, to show his care.

Athena’s just like “you are so sweet but if you rearrange my cupboards I’ll grab you by the ear and you won’t soon forget! Take your patient and adoring boyfriend out somewhere not here!”

(What if Buck offers them the loft for the time being and “temporarily” goes to stay with Tommy?)
