just a little ramble about inspiration:

i sometimes get burnt out when im only doing original art so its nice to do fanart every now and then. i was such a big steven universe fan back in the day, it was such a big inspiration for me as a young artist. i lost interest years ago but it still is important to me, just as important to me as invader zim, adventure time, regular show, and all of the other cartoons that were formative for me.

i think some day soon we are due for a steven universe renaissance, where we re-evaluate what worked, what didnt, and its cultural impact in a nuanced way (LILY ORCHARD WHEN I GET YOU). i hope with the SU renaissance, people start making gemsonas again. that was my absolutely favorite part of being in the fandom, gemsonas were what make me take character design seriously.

enough of my sappy ramblings, i also like steven universe bc the diamonds are morally fucked up milfs, and thats how i like my women.

PLEASE HELP

I'm a disabled trans woman. My dad is temporarily unable to work and so my mom is our family's only breadwinner.

And her employer stole her entire last paycheck.

And things have gotten worse since. After a mental health crisis caused by this situation, mom spent three weeks sitting and lying in the same position - and had to be hospitalized for infected bedsores.

She still hasn't fully recovered, and she's looking for a job, but this will take time. But we're almost there. Last post

Okay so we're on the final stretch. Mom has recovered and she has found a job abroad and she's leaving soon. However, she needs to be able to buy medication for her job. These include both her anti-anxiety and blood pressure medication, but also painkillers that she needs since the accident in February.

We have about 27 dollars left. (And obviously mom will be paid only a month from now, and unlikely she will get an advance...)

Tomorrow I'm gonna go to the nearest town to pawn off some tools, but that obviously won't last us very long. So if you are able to, please donate. If not, please share.

It is Catholic tradition to honor the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary. These are seven moments in the life of Mary in which she felt immense pain, often symbolised by seven swords piercing her Immaculate Heart. The second one was the Flight into Egypt, detailed in the Gospel of Mark.

Today, thousands of Palestinians are attempting to make that flight. As Christians, we must see Jesus in them. We must see the Holy Family in each and every person pleading for their families' lives on GoFundMe. Thousands are trying to escape through the Rafah border, and the clock is ticking. Time is of the essence.

Ronza’s fundraiser ‼️

Ronza is a Palestinian refugee living in Brazil. She is gathering funds to evacuate seven members of her family to Egypt. Including:

Her father, Dr. Sameer Abujayyab. He is 59 years old. He is a doctor and chairman of the non-profit organization, Society of Physically Handicapped People since 1994. He was afflicted with polio at the age of two, so he decided to become a specialized doctor in spinal cord injuries. He returned to Palestine in 1992 and began his work as a doctor.

Her mother, Nawal (59 years-old)

Her grandmother, Refa became a refugee for the first time in 1948. She was 11 years old, now she is 86. Before October 7, she was still strong, but now because of difficulty finding good food, clean water, and her medication, her health has deteriorated. She left her house in agony, crying - Ronza is worried that she can’t bear this severe situation.

Ahmed, Ronza’s youngest brother, is 22 years old. After graduating from University in 2022, he dreamed of building his own startup, and now his goal is just to survive.

Ronza’s other siblings Zuhdi (27) and Lozan (26) are recently graduated Architectural Engineers.

Ronza’s cousin, Doaa (28) is a software engineer. “She is very smart and motivated; this war cost her a lot, her dreams, and her job.”

The costs to evacuate through the Egyptian borders are exorbitant. The expenses of travel for 7 people is $6,000 per person to leave Rafah crossing. They are requesting our help to raise $44,000 to get Ronza’s family out to a safe place.

i love how garnet and pearl are just continuing to use the name of their infamous guerilla military organization while their current jobs are fighting lv4 rpg monsters and giving each other basket weaving seminars. and steven has no context for this and just thinks of "The Crystal Gems" as basically the name for his mom's side of the family. so he walks up to lapis and says "you should hang out with me and my treehouse friends, the Viet Cong!"
