You have 24hrs to (emotionally) prepare, as promised-
Can I just say, right now, I'm at almost 8k words for chapter 16. More than half of it is just Nico being emotionally tortured. I don't know how I'll transition from this to something fluffy and sweet for Mother's day.

Funny story. This happened to me just yesterday.
So I get home from work. I'm lying in bed with my quilt all the way up to my nose. The only difference yesterday from any other day is that I laid down with my head positioned where my feet would usually be. That's the only difference.
I'm quiet, just scrolling through my phone. For context, I had our dog, Snowball, in my room. He's chilling as well. At around 7 p.m., my older brother comes home. Snowball doesn't react. He just continues chilling on the floor. So, eventually, my brother enters my room (w/o knocking, of course) and greets Snowball immediately (as usual). He looks at where my head would usually be if I'm lying down, and he asks Snowball, "Where's your sister?" And I thought at first he's just being his annoying self, but no. He legit thought I wasn't in the room. He looks at my office chair, behind my drawer, I'm not there. I haven't moved ever since he entered the room. Only my eyes are following him. This goes on for about more than 10 seconds before he eventually looks at the foot of the bed and sees my head. And this "apex predator" screamed. 🤣 And it's one of those high-pitched my-soul-jumped-out-of-my-chest screams. 🤣 So yeah, I would say the first info is true.
So, something I learnt the other day. So, you know how dinosaurs supposedly can't see you if you stand still? Well that myth is based on real-life lizards/etc and how eyes in general work. So, once my dad starts infodumping, here comes some other cool information. We, humans, can in fact, also not see something unless it's moving. We fixed this by having our eyes constantly shake. And then our brain compensates for us, so we don't have to have shaky vision.
What if aliens don't have this? Like. What if they find out when one of us was looking at something in the distance, and they walk around this thing that's in front of them, and the alien is confused so they bob their head and oh, there's a thing there, but how did the human know that, and then we explain and they're like, horrified.
Humans are apex predators. They can hunt in packs. They can hunt in pairs. They can hunt on their own. They're persistance predators, which is unheard of. They get stronger when they're mad or scared. They have this thing called 'body language' which acts like a type of hivemind, even if they'll claim it isn't. And. They can see you. When you're not moving. They can still see you. If you ever find yourself in a fight against a human, for whatever reason? Run. Run as fast as you can. And hope, pray if you have a religion, that they won't follow.

Yeah. That moment is just for Jason and Nico, and Aeon respects that. He might not even be on the door. He's just out there waiting for Nico should he break down. Because it's starting - Jason's the first to go amongst his friends, and Jason is Nico's best friend. He can't take away Nico's pain, and he definitely can't shoulder it. He can only support him throughout this long period as Nico buries his friends and family one by one.
Death isn't quite as Jason imagined. He had pictured it in his head decades ago: his bed was surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Piper was there as well, looking as beautiful as the day he met her.
'You can let go now, Jason. It's okay,' she said softly. He didn't need her charmspeak to convince him that it was okay to let go; he knew it was. And so, he did.
Except this was a vision. A vision that shattered decades ago. Piper wasn't his wife, and he was no one's husband. On his death bed, there was no wife. But there was someone else’s husband.
"You can let go now, Jason. It's okay," Nico whispered to him, his cold, delicate fingers brushing against his cheeks. He looked as beautiful and as youthful as ever - but of course he did; he was immortal now.
"I'm afraid," Jason admitted, trembling bony hands clasping Nico's. "I'm afraid to go."
He wasn't afraid of death, no. He was afraid of his judgement.
"You're going to Elysium, I promise. You won't lose your memories." Because that was Jason’s only fear - losing his memories of this lifetime. "I'll be with you. Every step of the way."
It wasn't the reassurance that he was going to Elysium that made it easier to let go. It was the promise that Nico would be with him that convinced him to let go.
As Nico coaxed him to his eternal sleep, Jason continued to stare at his beautiful face for as long as he could. 'You can let go,' Nico said. Indeed, he could let go now. Of his life. Of his love.

I've been listening to AITA reaction videos all day while working, and I notice that there's this trend (don't know if TikTok specific) of telling these stories while doing makeup. I can't do makeup. H-o-w-e-v-e-r. I type fanfics. So I told my friend,
"So I don't know if this is done before, but just imagine if I do an AITA post or story time of (my) Asian family trauma growing up (and present) with the fanfic WIP in the background as I'm typing it. Imagine there's an audience who view the videos. Imagine, okay? Their reactions might be like, 'Damn girl, I don't know what tea I wanna know: the tea of your story or the tea of YOUR story??? I wanna know what the beef is with your family, but guuuurl, what the hell is Nico thinking in this chapter??? And Alabaster and Percy, haven't they made enough mistakes as your grandparents???'

Alabaster: No.
Claymore: Okay.
Alabaster: Well sh--, I didn't point a gun. Continue.
Tumblr media
For context, Alabaster, Hazel, Jason, and Reyna are having a discussion in this scene, and Claymore’s just listening until, well (points above).

Nico, who has been moving around all night, suddenly stops and turns to look at his fiancé, who immediately breaks into a smile when their eyes meet (like Aeon always do, every time, without fail). But for some reason, perhaps because Aeon is like the calm amidst the chaos, that moment is the one which made Nico 100% he's going to marry this man.
Just Nico and Aeon having dinner with Nico's family. Aeon's leaning in the doorway, taking in his fiancé with the softest look in his eyes, and just thinking, "Damn. This gorgeous man is going to be my husband."

I actually don't. I've been giving hints in the Record series. 👀
I had an idea of a part 2 for AKM, set maybe two to three years later, and it involves Alabaster, the Mist, the 7 archangels and fallen angels, blah blah. I told my friend and I got slammed down because I "haven't even finished AKM and now want to dig another grave".
