I'm having such a hard time because I see these other (genuinely awesome beautiful drawings) of other people's modern au's that get 100s of notes and I don't get more than a few.

I don't want to come off as ungrateful for the few people who genuinely do like my au (the few people who consistently like/reblog/interact. I have your usernames memorized ily). But since I've been getting more asks unrelated to the au's I've been having a hard time. I enjoy the attention but the modern au is a huge passion project and I feel like it's just often tossed aside.

I figure people might just not like modern au's or humanized characters, but then I see others get hundreds of notes and I can't help but think "what am I doing wrong?"

Idk what I hope to accomplish here. Maybe in hopes I'll get more interaction? I don't want to come off as desperate but it's hard to want to share when I feel like those posts are overall ignored. I don't want to be so needy but at the same time I feel the need to know that my art reaches someone, that it's interesting, that it's good. That people want to see the other things I'm passionate about. At this point I feel like I'm just over here with my practically OC's playing dolls alone. Interspersed with answering asks about canon revalink.

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

Mod AU thoughts and questions:

1. Link would eat that nasty ass pumpkin ramen. Mimi wants to pay him to eat hers but he does it for free.

I headcanon Revali and Link had this interaction before Link realised what he got himself into and that Revali is going to quite the rito to handle:

Link: It's getting late Revali, and it's also getting pretty cold. Also looks like I'm I won't be able to travel back now either, so looks like I'm staying in the Inn.

Revali: Oh no that won't be necessary, you'll be spending the night in my hut, and sleeping in my hammock.

Link: But you only have one hammock there right?

Revali: You'd be correct.

Link: So where are you going to sleep then?

Revali: In my hammock.

Link: Hmmm...wait, but doesn't that imply that-

Revali: (Begins removing his armour) Exactly. Now get in, and before you ask, your compliance isn't a factor.
