The fondness in Jon's voice when he says, "that'll be our Gerard." makes me want to scream because they didn't even know each other and yet Jon likes him. Jon doesn't speak about anyone like that. Jon has heard enough about Gerry in the tapes and notes that he's formed an opinion of him. He says "our Gerard" the way others speak of a family member. In the same way someone would loving call a cousin a brat. Jon likes Gerry.
I love that Alice and Gwen are lowkey playing a game of chicken with each other rn to see who’s gonna mention the Horrors first
Like I don’t think they’re necessarily aware of what exactly is Going On with each other but there’s some kind of recognition that something is Not Right and idk what to do with that
tma AU where Gertrude actually TELLS her assistants shit about the rituals (Emma is dying in a ditch or something idk) and Michael, being loyal to a fault and desperately self-sacrificing, still sacrifices himself to stop the great twisting because like, SOMEONE needs to save the world and he's already marked by the spiral so he rationalizes it as fitting.
ANYWAYS once he's transformed into the distortion he still harbors no real ill will towards Gertrude (barring the fact that she did fuck up his ritual) so, still being lovely and sweet Michael, he comes into work like "hey,,,, do you still need an assistant,,," and Gertrude is obv skeptical at first but then she realizes that hey, i've got a bunch of files that need to be "organized" and looky here i've got just the right spiral avatar for the job! So she hires Michael back as a "filing assistant" and Elias can't do shit except slowly pull out his hair follicles one by one in sheer annoyance
(Sarah Carpenter, ofc, being the lovely fanon-designed badass bitch she is, barely even realizes Michael's different. "Oh ur hands are weirdly sharp now? Sounds great for cutting bread!" And Michael, no longer needing to eat bread, fails to see the usefulness of this. But it's alright, they get lunch together sometimes)
Fast-forward to when Gerry comes to see Gertrude about his mother's book, he stumbles across this spiral avatar going absolutely APESHIT on Gertrude's filing system and he's like "uhhhh u gonna fix that?" and Gertrude's like "dw about it :) Michael's got :) a system :)" and the eye-aligned part of Gerry is crying a little. But hey, the distortion acts as great fast travel to New Zealand and China and North America so really he can't complain THAT much.
(Is this a fix-it AU? Kinda. Does Gerry still die? Honestly I'm on the fence about that. I love having him around but at the same time there's no real reason that he would SUDDENLY learn about his cancer and also survive it just because he and Gertrude have gained a crazy fun and funky travel partner. But maybe Gertrude doesn't put him in the skin book anymore, because she's all-around a nicer person in this AU. so he gets his rest <3 )
tldr; Michael Distortion works as a filing clerk in the archives, and he messes up the filing system so bad that when Jon is hired as head archivist he Just Gives Up.
