The superpower of being of Eastern-European descent is that you are absolutely immune to anyone trying to convince you that Russian imperialism is somehow benign, lesser than other kinds of imperialism, etc.

Lots of you who don’t have that should maybe listen to people from those countries (and even more so than those of us several generations into the diaspora, people living in them right now) about why that is! Because it’s clear that even experiencing other kinds of imperialism from other countries doesn’t inoculate you against the brain worms involved here. A lot of you are just total suckers for the idea that any imperialism that is not from the U.S./Western Europe or that positions itself as in opposition to those countries, is somehow OK or not-imperialism or a lesser form of it.

And not only is that just…not true, it also makes it clear that a lot of you don’t understand the root principles behind why imperialism is bad in the first place. If you can only see it as bad when it’s Country A doing it to Country B, then you don’t really get it in a more fundamental way. You’re not the “postcolonial,” “anti-imperial” thinker that you like to believe you are.

I know I'm preaching to the choir and it's been said before but since I looked through the files and so know that at this point after 6 patches Halsin, who started out as an NPC, now has the same level of romance reactivity in the game as Wyll, whose content has been lacking since day 1 despite being an Origin character...

Even if you assume there is some margin of error with going through the files like this it still gives, yet again, a pretty good picture of how bad Larian treats their one black companion.

I haven't done the Halsin romance so I don't know how his cutscenes stack up against Wyll's but it bears repeating that Halsin started out as a more involved NPC and Wyll, one of the main characters, after 6 patches still has only 1 romance greeting (that a lot people don't even know exists because it's bugged), maybe got new goodbye kisses at the Morphic Pool like everyone else but idk either 'cause that is also bugged, has one or two lines of dialog in the epilogue that call back to his proposal but, you guessed it, that is also bugged, and then the rolling around kissing in Act 3 still looks bad and still fades to black despite every other romanceable character getting at least one fully animated, naked sex scene. Oh, and him being the only romanceable companion who can't be kissed in epilogue could've been fixed by now but apparently Larian didn't have the bandwith for that after animating kisses for two months.

And that is just looking at the romance part of it all.

It's bad. It's just bad.
