answering some questions about carousel!

what time is this set in? carousel is set in modern day, and the main cast (the marauders) are ages 16-17. the next generation is not yet born.

is this magical? no, this is a muggle au. magic does not exist, though the purist ideas of certain families (e.g. the blacks) are still alive. voldemort is a muggle extremist who wants to rid all middle- and working class families (despite coming from a poverty background himself), though his power is not yet great enough to do real damage.

what about hogwarts? hogwarts is a normal - if not eccentric - high school in hogsmeade, london, where talented children from all backgrounds go to learn and grow under the rather odd professor dumbledore. 

how will magical aspects be carried over? i’m going to use remus lupins lycanthropy as an example here. although he obviously cannot be a werewolf in an otherwise ordinary world, one could exchange that illness for another similar - you could say that he has a terminal disease that causes him to have various time off school. my character, sirius, has a pet dog called padfoot, which replicates canon where he is an animagus. you can change your characters as much as you would like.

how will time progress? we will likely discuss this as more people join the group, but for now, time will likely be progressing in line with the actual calendar, unless someone raises an issue with that. this is very chilled, so it doesn’t matter too much if we change some things mid-way.

what are we supposed to do? roleplay-wise? just have fun. make dumb textposts, post pictures of other characters, or start some pointless drama for those reality tv brownie points. seriously, so long as you try to involve other people and stick to your characters personality, you can’t go wrong.

who has the best ass? uh, sirius, obviously. why is this even a question??

welcome to the carousel, the modern marauders roleplay!

in this modern era, tumblr roleplay, multiple accounts playing different characters from the much loved marauders era will come together in one, big, tumblr-esce mess!

this roleplay is still small and fairly private, so in order to join you must message the creator nico, or @ratg3nder, and discuss the points with them. please remember that this community does not support jkr, or her actions, and many of us, nico included, are a part of the queer or trans community. 

this will differ to canon in many ways ...

this is set in a modern-day, non-magical village called hogsmeade somewhere i london, where the marauders are entering their sixth year at the not so ordinary hogwarts high school. 

we do not have much of an end goal here, as it’s more for the purpose of having fun and entertaining, but we will think of different events and scenarios to keep the drama up. there will likely be a heavy focus on music. for the most part, however, just keep in character and have fun!

shipping must be respectful to the other members ...

if you would like to have your character pursue a relationship with another, please discuss it with their admin first off, and find something that works for you. bare in mind we do not support any incestuous, paedophilic or abusive relationships here! ships such as snily are heavily frowned upon, but not banned. just keep others thoughts and opinions in mind before making any final decisions - we don’t want any disagreements over stupid things like otps.

like i have stated before, this is simply a fun way of escaping reality and writing stories, all while making friends. we expect at least one post in character per week (though you can message us if there is any issues), and some attempts to get involved with other role-players. there is no point in role-hogging. if you ever feel unsafe or unwelcome with any member of the community, contact us immediately and we will help sort it! this is a safe space for everyone, no matter what.
