1/19/17 Snow Tubing on Mount Peter Snow tubing is quite fun, and especially good for people like me who are rather unathletic in nature but enjoy being outdoors Fun fact of the day: Megan and her friend continually were throwing snowballs at each other. On our second to last turn going down I decided to get involved because I found the most perfectly round snowball. When I picked it up I did so super delicately as to not break it, and threw it at Meg, hitting her in the head. What I found out was that it was actually an ice ball, and it hurt a ton. Sorry Megan :(

Past bucket list experience- visit to Venice
July, 2015
Tumblr media
Venice was, by far, my favorite place I saw in Italy. Everything about Venice is stunning. The streets are all cobble, windy, and almost everything is artisan made. It feels at times like a completely different world. There are virtually no cars, and walking, biking, and boats are the primary mode of travel. It is, however, incredibly easy to get long in. The maps of the place are vague, google maps is inaccurate, and even those who live there at times do not have full knowledge of the area, or there is difficulty when translating. Riding in a Gondola would probably classify as a top ten happy moment for me. Everything about Venice is perfect, and the pictures have no chance of doing it justice. Everyone should put going to Venice on their bucket list, but here is a bit about my experience there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Island of Burano, which is known for its artisan lace. I bought a pink scarf from there with lace finish. The small colored houses reminded me of pictures I have seen of where my family is from Cuba.
Tumblr media
Gondola ride after leaving Burano.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I literally ran into my friend Becky while we were both on our way to Murano, which is known as the Glass Island, so we got to spend some time together on the island!
Tumblr media
My last night in Italy consisted of Me, Krissy, and Olivia walking around. The R necklace I am wearing I bought at the Rebecca store in Florence. I was very sad to leave Venice, and Italy in general. There are still so many more cities in Italy I wish to see, but I think Rome, Florence, Pisa, and Venice gave us a good head start.

Past bucket list experience- visit to Rome
July, 2015
Tumblr media
Side note: that is krissy’s beautiful finger, as well as her beautiful picture
Just as Krissy got a graduation trip to Paris/ London, I chose to visit some places in Italy. The first of these places was Rome. Which was incredibly cool. One of my favorite parts of it was the way that the ancient landmarks are intermittent with modern restaurants, architecture, etc. Seeing the Pantheon, the most well preserved building in history, was especially cool as it predates Christianity and is in the center of a string of restaurants, stores, and across from a beautiful fountain. While in Rome we checked out the Borghese Gallery, where I gained a newfound appreciation for the work of sculpture, and we also got a sneak pic of a fashion show that was going to be taking place in the Gallery in the near future. Rome was very cool, but it was probably my least favorite of the major places we went in Italy. I’m not usually one to complain about tourists, but it seemed to have more tourists than Romans, and at times that made it feel in-genuine. Also, one of the things I was looking forward to most was making a wish in the Trevi Fountain, but it was under construction at the time and I was unable to do that. Still, Rome is beautiful, historically incredibly, and an experience I consider myself blessed to have.
Tumblr media
The Spanish Steps, where we sat and took in all the beauty!
Tumblr media
The most delicious gelato ever. Fun fact: I’m still wearing that second bracelet as I type this right now. I was also wearing all throughout my second trip to London.
Tumblr media
The Pantheon, which I believe is my favorite part of Rome. My family ate at a little restaurant next to it, and I tried gnocci for the first time. Believe this shot was taken from the seat. Next to us was the SINGLE most obnoxious woman/ couple I have ever overheard. They were very drunk and just saying very silly things about the struggles if being them. It was pretty amusing for us to listen to, as none of us were intoxicated, and acted as just another reminder of how silly people get sometimes. Then, a few days later, we overheard them speaking to a street artist, and I had to snipe a picture of them so I would never forget how much they made my family laugh. See below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Top of Giardino degli Aranci, where I saw a million bride and grooms come and stand on top of this, and was terrified that they would fall every. single. time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trevi Fountain under construction :(
Tumblr media
The Colosseum!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Colosseum is incredible. All I can say.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Rape of Persopina is my favorite statue I have ever seen, as I cannot imagine crafting such detail into marble. In this photo, you can see the pressure with which Pluto grabs Persopina at her thigh, pulling her away from her world. If you look closely, you can also see a tear streaming down her face as she fights and pushes away from him. As a big fan of Roman and Greek mythology, I respect its accuracy, and appreciate the craftsmanship that must have gone into making this statue.  Betcha Squidward couldn’t do that--maybe spongebob though.
Fun facts:
1. I have a lot of trouble when it is very hot out because my body does not sweat so I simply overheat, and while we were visiting the Roman Forum I almost went crazy
2. When we went inside a museum around the Roman Forum we all sat on this giant rock and proceeded to get yelled at viciously as apparently it was the foundation of a thousand year old building--whoops
3. We almost got kicked out of the Roman Forum because my brother started talking back to that guy who yelled at us because there was no sign saying do not sit on it, so it was just a giant rock. Stupid Americans for sitting or stupid museum owners for not putting a do not sit sign on a rock that looks a lot like a bench?
After leaving Rome, we went to Florence!

Visit Philly
1/15/2017
Tumblr media
My visit to Philly is the first thing, of hopefully many, I have completed since making my bucket list! My sister and I drove down to Philly to help her friend out by photographing a cover for her new album. (Look out for her on itunes--Kat Pace!) Kat used the opportunity to direct us through Philly and see a few of the major things. My favorite thing was Dilworth Park, which apparently has a newly added garden. I fell in love with it. It also is the current spot where the “LOVE” sign can be found, so we got to see that. Aside from those two things, we got to see City Hall, and we also checked out the Porch on 30th Street outside their train station, which was slightly reminiscent of Grand Central in New York. Lastly, we got to see all the vendors at Reading Terminal Market, which reminded me a lot of Quincy Market in Boston, and have a Philly Cheesesteak as well!
As we entered West Philly, we a lot of really cool street artwork. I hope to come back in the summer to experience it walking around when it’s a bit warmer outside. The first thing we saw was the 30th Street Station, and the Porch on 30th Street, which is a little outdoor area next to the station that is quite adorable, and has a great closeup view of the skyline.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naturally, being the child that I am, I jumped on the swing set.The porch also has little colored tables and a cute sign that says XOXO. Though it was cold, the day was beautiful. You can see the skyline and all the buildings from this spot.
After we drove away from the station, we went towards Central Philly. We passed the museum driving, and I believe I am coming back to Philly on Friday, so hopefully I’ll be able to check that out then!
The first place we went in Central Philly was City Hall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently having William Penn at the top of their highest building in Philly is kinda a big deal. According to Kat, when a skyscraper was built higher than City Hall (where Penn is at the top) all of their sports teams started losing. Which a good thing, because I hate the Eagles. Unfortunately for me, the tallest skyscraper put a tiny William Penn statue at the top of their building so he would still be on the highest point in Philly, and they started winning again. Soclose.
When you walk around City Hall, it is clear just how old the architecture is based on its designs. It was a really cool experience going to one of the oldest places in the Country. In that last picture, that was where Penn planned to make the center of Philadelphia, which is located in the opening of city hall, adjacent to four different exists to four different streets. The picture before the one of my feet is one of those exists.
Leaving City Hall we made out way to the park behind it, Dilworth Park. The Garden section I fell in love with is new, but I could not be more excited to have gotten to see it. It was stunningly decorated for the Holidays. Anyone who knows me knows I love public/ community gardens, and greenery in general.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In some incredibly convenient gift from up above, this also happens to be the temporary location of the LOVE sign. I say convenient because by this point in the day we were absolutely freezing and wanted to go inside, so having it  nearby was perfect.
To finish out mini excursion, we went to Reading Terminal Market, which is an indoor market full of local vendors. And we got cheesesteaks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOOKKK at all that cheese whiz.
I have a scheduled plan to go back to Philly on Friday, and I hope to make at least one day trip down there during the Summer. My high hope for Friday is that I can see the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and during the summer I hope to see the Magic Gardens. And of course, to see everything else Philadelphia has to offer, such as art, history, culture, and amazing architecture.

Visit DTS
1/12/2017, Visit to Belmar and Asbury Park
Tumblr media
The second my friends and I realized it was supposed to be about 60 degrees, we planned a trip to the beach. Not to go into the water, but just to prance about, get outside of our hometown, and soak in some vitamin D. Belmar is one of the closest beaches for those living in Northern New Jersey (us), but more importantly it is the home to the delicious Playa Bowls. Now they are opening all around Jersey, with one near us in Montclair, and one in Rutgers as well, but the original ones is located in Belmar. Asbury Park is one of my favorite shore spots, as well as the favorite of many others. The boardwalk is long, and filled with art, and even has a skatepark at the end. One of my favorite restaurants is nearby, called PORTA, which is famous for is rustic design and the doors outside reading “Eat,” “Drink,” and “Be Honest.” The Stone Pony is also in Asbury Park, which has played all of New Jersey’s elite, such as Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. The Casino was being renovated, but the outside of it still looked fresh. As soon as the sun went down the temperature did too, but still, it was a beautiful day to walk on the beach!

Past bucket list experience- second visit to London
March, 2013
Tumblr media
My return to London took place a little less than two years after my initial trip. My sister decided to study abroad there her second semester of sophomore year, and for those who may not have already noticed, we are quite close. That being said, I jumped at the opportunity to go visit her while she was abroad with my dad during my sophomore year of highschool’s spring break. It was cool traveling with just my dad, though it was not cool sharing a room with him while he snored louder than a dinosaur having a nightmare.
Day one was super fun because it was March, and I had not seen Krissy since early in January. Saying it this way does not sound like very long, but it felt like forever! She gave me some birthday gifts from Primark, so when that comes to America and I brag that I knew about it first, I did--thanks to Krissy. We ate at some weird restaurant that had a ton of fish, and just generally caught up. My dad had never been to London, so we checked out River Thames, Big Ben, and Parliament, of course.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day two we checked out the National Gallery of London, which is still one of my favorite museums. Based on the fact that I had no pictures inside from the first visit and no pictures inside from this visit, I’m going to make a bold assumption and say no photography is allowed! I got to see some work of my favorite artist--Seurat-which was the Bathers at Asnières. I also got to see my favorite Van Gogh piece, which is totally lame, but it’s Sunflowers. Aside from that I saw amazing pieces from Michaelangelo, Botticelli, Da Vinchi, Velazquez, Rafael, Claude, Rembrandt, Monet, and all of the other TMNT.
Tumblr media
While pictures cannot be taken inside, this lion is lying outside the museum, and me and krissy got this cute pic. Ignore my paint stains on my pants, I was active in backstage crew at the time, and everything I owned had a little paint on it.
The next day was Easter Sunday, and luckily most of London was still open. This was probably my favorite day from my second trip in London.
Tumblr media
I made several jokes about the queen doing her daily actions here, such as “The queen eats here,” “the queen poops here,” and “the queen showers her.” I also took the opportunity to be super goofy.
Tumblr media
This picture above is probably one of my favorite pictures ever. The picture below is something I hope to one day have the opportunity to do to the balls of the Bull on Wall Street.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This picture is the single reason I think I look like my dad, and the picture below is the single reason I have never taken a picture like that again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We decided to go for a spin on the London Eye, which provides one of the best views in all of London. Above is a picture of me, my dad, and my sister enjoying the views.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This day was particularly fun, as it was the first time I ever had a legal alcoholic drink! AKA that beer me and Krissy are holding. Also, I am currently wearing the second bracelet you see in the second picture, still on my left hand. I don’t think I’ve taken it off very often since I got it the summer of 2013, minus a few month period earlier this year when I accidentally left it in my shower one day when it slipped off and kept forgetting to put it back on. I also still own that necklace, jacket, and scarf, and wear all three fairly often. Once again, I love bracelets and some things never change. Krissy also still wears that silver link bracelet, which she had had since she was in elementary school.
The following day we checked out the Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe theatre, the Millennium Bridge, and Saint Paul’s Cathedral. The Tower of London is one of my favorite historic spots, complete with a torture chamber.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tell me that face doesn’t SCREAM jewel thief? I think Becky circa this trip is pretty fun, in my opinion.
The Globe theatre is awesome even though the original burned down. We got to sit down in the seats and took a tour, which was great, as me and Krissy are big Shakespeare buffs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Millennium Bridge was exciting for me as it is the bridge the death eaters destroy in Harry Potter. It also leads directly to Saint Paul’s Cathedral, which is absolutely stunning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Me and Krissy have this habit of always matching, as you can see here.
On my last day of visiting London, my dad took Krissy and me to go see the West End’s (London’s version of Broadway) production of Les Miserables. We are all huge theatre geeks, and Les Mis happens to be the longest running show in London, like Phantom is in New York. The performance was honestly not as good as it would have been if it were on Broadway. It was the first time I had ever experienced a professional’s voice crack in the middle of the show, and it happened on more than one occasion. Still, it was amazing to see their longest running show, I happen to love Les Mis, and I will always remember the tears streaming down my face when Marius sang Empty Chairs At Empty Tables.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seemed like such a sad goodbye, but worry not we are reunited, and have been since June of 2013.
Let us all appreciate my stylistic choices of this trip.
Fun facts:
1. I was sick for most of this trip
2. I opted out of some sightseeing that I had already done during my first trip since I was sick, such as skipping seeing Westminster for a second time to sleep in on my second day there
3. My mom was so sad that I missed our usual Easter ritual to go to Europe because it meant neither me nor Krissy would be home for Easter
4. This inspired me to study abroad, which I plan to during the Spring of my junior year if all works out
London remains one of my favorite cities, and I hope one day I have the opportunity to return once I have seen more of the rest of the world.

Past bucket list experience- first visit to London
July, 2011
Tumblr media
For me, London was huge. I have always been a huge Harry Potter fan, and growing up it was the one place I wished to see most in the entire world. My first trip was a short two day excursion as a side trip to my sister’s high school graduation present--a trip to Paris. Surprisingly, we did a lot of fun stuff in that two day trip to London. Here’s a little bit about it. (fair warning, this was between 8th grade and highschool AKA not my finest years :)
Attempting to do any major city in two days is incredibly exhausting, but it was a bit nice having a break from being in Paris and not being able to understand anyone. Day one consisted of your average and necessary moves, such as taking a picture in a photobooth and passing where the queen lives.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day one also consisted of us going to see the National Gallery of art and Westminster Abbey, though I do not have pictures from those places for some reason. I have been to London twice now, and have yet to see the changing of the guards. Guess that means I just have to go back--that’s just too bad.
Our first day was significantly colder than we all had anticipated, so we all bought what I would like to call ~tourist chic~ sweatshirts to wear around for day two.
Tumblr media
Day two was filled with fun stuff such as visitng Hamley’s, which is a giant toy store. Above you will see me enjoying the Harry Potter Noble Collection set.
Tumblr media
Behind me and my sister in our prime less cute years is Tower Bridge, which I was disappointed to find out is not the one that is constantly falling down, despite being directly in the center of London. We also checked out the Tower of London, which is absolutely awesome.
Tumblr media
This was probably the point where I peaked in life, taking a picture going through the 9&3/4 Wall outside of Kings Cross Station. When we found out this existed we actually entered the station and found platforms 9 and 10, expecting it to be legitimately between the two, which it is not. Probably not our brightest moment, but they were super eager to please me as I had waited my whole life for this, and we were all exhausted.

Past bucket list experience- visit to Paris
July, 2011
Tumblr media
Ever since my older sister was little, she had always wanted to go to Paris. I’m not exactly sure why, but she was obsessed with it. Not that I can blame her, now that I have gone. In Paris, one feels absolutely beautiful. It is unlike anything I have ever experienced, there is simply so much beauty to it that it makes one feel special. It’s a difficult feeling to explain, as feelings so often are, but I have never felt it anywhere else (although Venice was close, but c’mon, it’s Venice!) Here is a little about our trip:
The flight to Paris was long and it dropped us off early in the morning, leaving us jetlagged. My sister immediately fell asleep, while I went with my mom to find a place to exchange some money. Somehow, I inherited lack of jetlag from my mom (which I guess makes up for the fact that she gave me a poor set of directions) so staying up longer wasn’t too much of a problem. Very little was done on the first day minus some close exploring.
Day two we checked out Shakespeare and Co. as me and my sister are huge Shakespeare fans, and love the general aesthetic of antique book stores. We also visited the Luxembourg Gardens, which I immediately decided was my house. I must say, my comedic career probably peaked on this trip.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I am typing this, I have a black bracelet on and a yellow bracelet on, and I’m glad to see some things never change. I also still love bracelets. hehe.
Day three was the worst day and also the one my family still talks about the most. We went to see the Louvre. Yes, the Louvre is an amazing art museums. It is also mostly sculptures, which as the time I was not sophisticated enough to appreciate (I am very fancy now, let me tell you), and the Mona Lisa is honestly underwhelming. Overall, my favorite part of it was seeing the outside and the Venus de Milo, which is actually pretty cool. I think if were to go today, the situation would be different and I would love the museum and do it at a more human pace than how my mother was leading us, but I digress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you can tell by these fake smiles, we pretty much all wanted to die. My stepbrother Travis couldn’t even fake a smile, but I truly respect past me, Krissy, and Olivia’s efforts.
Day four was probably my personal favorite: Versailles! This place is stunning, and I promptly informed my family that I had moved from Luxembourg to Versailles. Growing up I had a weird fascination with Marie Antoinette, so seeing this place was pretty cool for me. I also knew she had a reputation for being a ~loose~ lady, so I made a joke and forced my sister to (I think illegally) take a pic of me with her bed so I could caption it, “This is where the magic happens” on facebook. Because this was pre-instagram of course. The joke still lasts to this day, and whenever we see a famous bed we remark “this is where the magic happens,” and the photo of my first college dorm was also captioned the same thing. Another great reminder that some things never change.
Tumblr media
I think this was supposed to be a cool pic of me walking away, but instead it’s an awkward picture of me posing as if I were walking away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ that’s the “this is where the magic happens” picture. It came out poorly, but the memories are there forever.
The next day we checked out the Champs-Elysees and all its fashionable glory, as well as the Arc de Triomphe but this picture is all I have to show for it:
Tumblr media
Look at all the French flags though–so pretty!
The following two days we spent in London, which was my first visit there.
When we returned from London we decided to do Notre-Dame! and the Eiffel Tower! In one day! This was honestly so stressful and exhausting, and going to the top of Notre-Dame is rough, but the view is the most beautiful in all of Paris, I’d say. Don’t get me wrong, the top of the Eiffel Tower is beautiful as well, but it is a little saddening when there is no Eiffel Tower to look at because you’re on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cannot seem to find any pictures of us from the top of the Eiffel Tower, but I’m honestly not sure if we took any considering it got dark out and while you’re on it it’s hard to tell what exactly is going on in pictures. We lost my stepsister Olivia while we were on it and could not find her for a while.
After we left the Eiffel Tower everyone was starving, so we found a small cafe that gave us a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower, specifically me, as I was facing it. We sat at two small round tables of three, and I can distinctly recall me and my sister Krissy reciting the Fresh Prince of Belair theme song as the Eiffel Tower twinkled in the background. Probably top ten happiest moments of my life.
Fun facts of this trip:
1. The last day it rained so hard those cute shoes you can see me wearing at Luxembourg were destroyed. And they were Krissy’s (sorry kris!)
2. Travis was being the worst, as he usually is when we vacation as a family anywhere that is not tropical, and every time he would be nasty I would correct him by going, “but what he really means is, Becky is the greatest and I love her so much!” or another compliment or positive thing about me. He still hates when we bring this up.
3. The first underground transport system I ever learned to navigate was that of Paris.
I would happily go back to Paris, and would highly suggest it to anyone in the entire world.

Favorite Places- Upstate New York
Among all the places I frequent, visiting my friends house in the Catskills has easily risen to my favorite. It feels magical. The mountains are beautiful, the houses are far apart, and its a great escape from my every day suburban life at home. There is something about being able to listen to music as loudly as you want whilst enjoying a great view with even better people that I simply have not been able to enjoy anywhere else but here. Their house is decorated pristinely, with a lot of wood to match its surroundings. It looks straight out of a magazine, and I’ve joked (probably more often than is necessary, but that is probably because I am not 100% joking) that I want their mom to decorate my future home as well. Between living in suburban New Jersey, going to school in a fairly Urban town, and living with my moms side of the family that is slightly less outdoorsy than my dads, I have had few chances to experience all the beauty that the mountains can bring. Luckily, sometimes I get to go Upstate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first four pictures are from a recent trip Upstate, with the last two being from last winter. Regardless of when I go, though, the scenery never ceases to amaze me. The last picture above is the view from my the porch of my friends house. Waking up to that is quite possibly the most peaceful experience in the world, and I’m lucky they invite me up to experience it with them.
Even in the summer, though, the Catskills never fail to be stunning. This first picture is the same at the one above, the view from their porch, but with a bit more greenery due to the fact that it was taken on a foggy summer morning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the weather cleared up a little we made our way over to a farm where they made fresh pizza from scratch and for $20, one can eat all they want. The latter two photos were taken at Crazy Lazy Acres Farm, where they took us for a lovely hayride.
Every time I get the chance to go Upstate I do my best to take it, and I hope one day to have a small place in the mountains myself. I could safely classify Upstate New York as one of my favorite places.

The Bucketlist
Howdy! First post. As stated in my about me, this is primarily a blog that I will add to tell stories as I check off my bucketlist over time. My bucketlist is filled with many different types of things, some that some may think are not bucketlist worthy, but I suppose that’s why each person should make their own! I do not consider myself a particularly deep person--I enjoy keeping things light hearted and fun. I’m in college, I go out, am in a sorority, love my family and friends, and all in all relish in your regular young adult debauchery as much as the next guy. I also happen to love nature, traveling, experiencing and learning about different cultures, and seeking greater understanding. Many see these as opposite, but I do not see it that way. I earnestly seek for the best of both worlds type of situations, as though some people think the two are mutually exclusive, I believe life is about balance. My goal is to be on my death bed knowing I had a great time while I could, saw and experienced all the wonderful things the world had to offer, lived through the crappy stuff life will ultimately bring, but did it surrounded by people I love. I’ll keep a page with the entire bucket list, and as the items are completed I’ll link them to the post in which I discuss them. Without further ado, my bucket list:
