i kinda don’t get people who characterize maccready as like… secretly generous, or having a heart of gold or anything. like don’t get me wrong i don’t think he’s downright malicious or anything, but the dude is absolutely a selfish jerk once you get past the charming facade. that’s the part that’s compelling!

like, he’s nice enough and open enough with the player once you get high enough affinity with him, but his reactions to player actions still point to him being a jerk overall. the sosu just happens to be in His Circle of people he can be vulnerable with. that includes you, his son, and maybe daisy. everyone else can kick rocks, the same way it was in little lamplight

he HAD to grow up with that kind of “us vs the world, every man for himself” mentality in the capitol wasteland. doing so otherwise gets you killed or taken advantage of, which is just protracted death anyways. having grown up in a place where slavers run rampant, people are all pushing each other further down just to boost themselves up and live one more day, and it’s literally impossible to make renewable food sources because the ground is so poisoned i genuinely don’t blame him for ending up a little tight fisted. the fact that he was the mayor of little lamplight just meant that he ended up being able to accept a few people as His To Protect instead of being a total lone wolf.

the way he reacts to the players open generosity isn’t just for show, he Actually Dislikes when you give stuff away without expecting anything in return. you might need that thing and now its just gone!! that person might see you as a sucker! you give an inch and they’ll take a mile! and it makes sense for his character to be like that considering everything. i don’t get why people want to change that into him just being kind of tsundere.

i understand that having your babygirl blorbo comfort character be a canonical asshole in ways that aren’t just kinda charming can be offputting, but like…. the way he treats the sosu is a very notable exception to the rest of his life & it’s a much more interesting dynamic imo. especially if you’re playing a goody two shoes martyr. but that’s just me

Fallout should really get more into the micro mutations that the radiation has caused. Like both with already mutated creatures and non-obvious ones.

Psykers, Night-kin, tunnelers and multiple other variants of mutated things exist so why can’t humans with other slight mutations? We know that radiation and FEV have affected how things have evolved, so it’d be really easy to say that these tribes or factions can do this cause they are slightly mutated to better fit their environment.

Perhaps Mojave people that live in very high areas have just noticeably long limbs due to all the climbing. Perhaps those who live in dark areas have larger pupils and borderline night vision. Perhaps rando NPCs that just mention having webbed hands cause their families live around water.

Like I’m not saying a bunch of new mutants or factions but just like humans who are more obviously slightly mutated.

#i think with humans already being able to meet most needs its unlikely any crazy mutations might happen #but i can see humans evolving to be able to consume more raw or irradiated meats #the thing with more drastic mutations is those without the mutations would have to die because of the lack of mutation for evolution to work #survival of the fittest n all that but even humans with less fortunate genes would surely b able to survive off the remains of the old world #BUT!! what would be cool is if certain areas would require such mutations to reach so like maybe there are mountain dwellers #and they're the only ones living up in the mountains cuz their mutations enabled them to reach that area and they bred from there #a faction thats obsessed with selective breeding to make a “perfect” human the way fev wanted to would be cool tho #interesting concept tho realistic mutations are something id love for them to consider in later games!!! #fallout

it's worth considering that the director said the makeup was toned down 1) so that Walton Goggins could still act with his face/be expressive, and 2) even with the makeup used it was REALLY hot under that latex. I would have loved gnarlier makeup but I can't imagine being in heavy prosthetics filming in a desert for 18 hours a day in the summer like that sounds horrible (and also they're supposedly adding an in-lore explanation as to why he's not as ghoulified as expected)

i love harold and gob and nasty ghoul designs SO MUCH but i also think think there are multiple practical reasons on why they turned down the body horror for the ghoul character on the fallout show

for one i am SO STOKED that they are using special effects and facial prosthetics and makeup for him instead of cgi!!! but- this also means in order to see the actor's expression and not have him be constantly uncomfortable it has to be less detailed especially in comparison to fo3 ghouls

also i've seen quite a few comments saying "if u like his design ur STUPID" or "must be new to fallout if u think that's a ghoul" which is just... feels like fake fan accusations come on guys.

he's a gunslinger bounty hunter THAT ALONE IS COOL AF and his design still looks pretty canon to how fo4 ghouls look and even tho some ppl don't like fo4 designs they still are canon in the lore now so it's not necessarily the make up design that's the problem

I AM NOT ONE TO DEFEND PRIME OR BIG COMPANIES but i also think the actors and artists involved are doing a good job so far and goggins isn't too bad looking ghoul wise imo
