umm. so the circus arc is worse then I remember lol. but its definitely up there in the kinda gruesome horror i was into as a kid.

sorry but the tonal dissonance between this arc and the weston arc "I can't believe you killed someone..." is really ugh... what a downgrade

ok so ciel is shocked while watching the horrific "circus act" the baron is putting on with the children, but its only when a kid is tied up to a table with a knife headed straight towards him that ciel commands sebastian to stop it :/

o!ciel literally months earlier towards joker:

this stung even more, since moments before joker expressed genuine sympathy towards him for his circumstances, and oc immediately uses his class to shut him down. while rc only said that line to sebastian who he has a grudge against for, yknow, eating his soul.

(also its clear that o!ciel was being defensive because of trauma was starting to kick in, can't see why not r!ciel would do the same)

everytime someone talks abt misogyny in fandom and how no one can talk about female characters, there's inevitably some person that goes "yeah every single female character to ever exist are all written terribly and thats why no one focuses on them 💔 such a shame 💔" then you go on their account and their favorite character is a male bg character with 3 speaking lines and they've made like 7 AUs so that man can be shipped with himself

It's like giving them everything to shine but not letting them shine enough next to their male counterparts. you pretty much nailed it on the head! honestly it wouldn't bother me so much that the female characters are so centered around love, if we had equal treatment from the men- that love is a serious aspect of their character (vincent, undertaker, joker, o!ciel, soma?) but it's always something they're willing to discard and use for their goals, rather being a goal in of itself.

which is why the fandom replies with such shock or doubt whenever vincent mentions love, but it makes perfect sense to me! we treat undertaker and vincent motivations as so mysterious when love as the answer is right there! but "love" would be too basic and simple motivation for them (unlike the women i suppose...) despite having evidence in the series that "love" can make a person's actions incredibly twisted and selfish. for both female and male characters, its never so much about the love, but what they're willing to do with it.

i know yana doesn't plan to write a romance in kuro and said she doesn't like writing romance because she isn't good at it but... it sure is something that so many of the female characters have love as their main motivation (ie. madam red, lizzy, beast, sieglinde's mom?) in a way it's yknow... hmm...

#love shouldn't be a demeaning aspect for female characters #(because at this point too many of them have it) #but it should be one that lets us understand them more fully #not flatten them #same goes for the male characters- why do we deem this aspect of theirs trivial #kuro #misogny #🍅🍅🍅 #b.txt #miriamladyvoid

confession: I lowkey didn't connect that mey rin shot peter -> peter crashed through the window -> woke elizabeth up -> tanaka went to cover it up.

as a kid, i thought that peter ran into the manor -> about to run into elizabeth's room -> tanaka came and crushed his skull with his bare hands. i was like oh-kaaay! 😳 old man's still got it.
