Separation to Conform For sale: Broome Shinju Award winning photograph 2016. $500 per copy at only 50 copies 900x600, signed, numbered 1of and laminated story+bio! Separation to Conform! This piece is my interpretation of our Indigenous history. The pindan on my face represents our connection to country, the Depth of our history to our mother earth. The red under my eyes represents the blood that has been spilt throughout our history. The white represents white society. The zip I glued to my face represents the separation of culture. And the zip over the lips represents being silenced and having to conform to white society! (this is not photoshopped- this pic is me, I am the model- nothing is super emposed.... I painted my face - the top half using ordinary mud mask mixed with pindan to create the earth- firstly painting the top half of my face black then put the clay on and waited for hours for it to dry- then painted the lower half of my face white and glued the zip on using spirit gum!) #myculture #australianart #onlineartgallery #onlineart #art馃帹 #mixedmedia #lovebeingcreative #
