I don’t have time to draw it right now but while driving home from the winco I saw a happy mustached man pedaling a bike, towing a cart built to look like a chariot, inside of which stood what I can only imagine was his completely expressionless 13 year old in a makeshift corinthian helmet
This is the English word I want to get tattooed on my wrist. It means “to keep breathing even though the water rises all around you.” English is such a mystical exotic language. They can fit so much meaning into so small a word.
imo one way Dune is healing cinema is that it relies on dramatic irony rather than shock value. we all know how it ends because Paul literally tells us in Part 1. no plot twist, no Super Sudden Unexpected Character Death, even events that were major surprises to the Atreides characters were events we watched be planned out and knew would happen. and I just really love that. Dune really went 'I'm gonna spoil this whole story for you and you're gonna fuckin like it.' and we did! RIP to Disney's Star Wars sequels and to Game of Thrones but Dune is different.
you ever think about how Zuko had 3 years to come to terms with the fact that his father never loved him and Azula had like. two hours. like Zuko had this whole dramatic character arc where he struggled to do right and Iroh was there to support him meanwhile Ozai was like yeah here’s a hollow title shithead. gonna go burn the Earth Kingdom without you lol. if i got done dirty by my dad as bad as Azula got done i’d start shooting lightning with my hair down too.
