I do!
I basically wrote down all the angst I wanted to read and made a thick gooey self indulgent milkshake...
It's not my finest writing, I've grown in terms of storytelling since then, but I think I did a nice job at capturing the emotions I wanted present.
I should write more pony fic. I have a story idea about Tempest Shadow that's been sitting in the to-do pile for *ages*.
“So how many of you follow the King of Iron Fist Tournament? You know with Paul Phoenix and Marshall-” [loud audience applause] “It’s fun! It’s fun right? Well this time it will be The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4. A lot of people don’t know this, but they wanted me to be in the first tournament.” [audience laughter] “No it’s true it’s true! I used to do Tae Kwon Do before I did radio and when Heihachi, can we get a picture of Heihachi?”
“…..Oh he still got that hair? Huh…. Well so when he announced the first King of Iron Fist Tournament everyone told me; oh you should join and compete! But, you know. Its the first time it’s happening. You don’t know who’s going to be there right. Someone like The Killer could’ve shown up. You never know! So I didn’t join but you know I keep up every time. I did Tae Kwon Do right, but I was a big fan of Kazuya and his uh uhm Karate style. Very impressive. You know Kazuya Mishima?” [middling applause] “No? So he was Heihachi’s son and the heir to the Zaibatsu. He died 20 years ago fighting in the second tournament. If I’m being honest.” [break to sip tea] “If I’m being honest, I think Heihachi might’ve had a hand in it. ALLEGEDLY, allegedly. But, you know.”
“So the news is Kazuya Mishima is in fact alive and will be competing in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4”
I know it sounds a little silly to say "huh, when you make art, people see it and are inspired by it" because, no duh, but like... its weird to me! I'm used to art I make falling into a big open pit where nobody sees it, to such a degree that I've gone through a whole character arc of conquering the emotions present and becoming content with that...
So it does genuinely feel weird to have people actually like, see stuff and then like it and make stuff as a result. Good weird though.
I gotta make more art I think. I need to drive even more people crazy.
See if I knew I had the power to drive you to madness I would have pushed myself to write more about them past the one fic and this comic. I didn't know I was out here feeding a hungry population
Kind of hilarious to me how poorly the title "Mob Psycho 100" localized to English-speaking areas. To someone whose first language is English, it scans as:
Mob (Yakuza, Mafia)
Psycho (violent person with "crazy" behaviors)
Thus: a particularly violent member of organized crime.
But in Japanese it scans as:
Mob (background characters in crowd scenes in manga or anime)
Psycho (short for psychic)
Thus: a psychic who looks/acts like someone you'd never pick out of a crowd scene in a comic.
do people not understand the concept of consent anymore? when the whole debate on AI voices started up and voice actors were saying it was bad, everyone started going "ummm but what about Hatsune Miku??" like it was some gotcha, when no, actually, Hatsune Miku is not bad because she was made with consent. the issue is not "people's voices are being used to make art and that's bad", the issue is "people's voices are being used to make art WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION, AGAINST THEIR WILL. WHICH IS BAD."
if somebody at work steals your food, the issue is not that somebody ate your food, the issue is that somebody ate your food WITHOUT ASKING YOU AND OBTAINING YOUR PERMISSION FOR IT. if they ASKED you, and you said sure you can have some, then there is no issue. and JUST AS IMPORTANTLY, it ALSO means that it is an INSANE leap to assume that this means from now on everyone should be able to take everyone's food whenever they want because there's nothing inherently wrong with it and "well this person said yes so I'm going to assume everybody else will also say yes". my god. do we all collectively need to sit down and watch a dvd on how to learn to share and gracefully accept when people say they don't want you to do something
