At the clown’s words, Georgie’s expression brightens as pure happiness shines in widened brown eyes. A toothy grin spreads across his face and the boy bounces excitedly.
“A balloon? For me? Gosh, thank’s Mr. Pennywise!”
So oblivious he was to the clown’s motives, small hands immediately reaching out so Georgie can take the balloon carefully from the clown’s hands. Childish innocence shines from Georgie’s smile as he speaks again once he has a hold of the balloon.
“I’ll keep it forever and ever!”

The hesitation that lingered in the young boy vanished the moment the clown appeared, a happy laugh escaping Georgie. The child reaches behind him and picks up the bag of popcorn.
“Hi, Mr. Pennywise! I left my boat at home cause it’s not rainin’! You can’t float a boat without water!” He laughs again and places the bag of popcorn at the entrance of the sewer drain. “My mommy took me to the store yesterday and I got this for you! I hope you like it! I made extra sure it was circus popcorn, just like the ones you get at the circus!”
“–Very wise! Not so much fun if they don’t f l o a t! And you could fall into the sewer and be stuck down here like me–!” The clown laughed this off like it was a clever joke, and not a sad fate, separated from everything IT loved.
Because, well, IT wasn’t. Not remotely.
Pennywise reached up to accept the offering, “–How c o n s i d e r a t e of you! I think you’ve earned a balloon–!” IT piped and as IT pulled the bag of popcorn into the sewer it pushed a bright red balloon carefully out of the drain so it didn’t pop. Pennywise held onto the end of the string so it didn’t fly off.

“M-Mr. Pennywise? A-Are you down there?”
It was a day or so after Georgie met the clown in the sewer, and of course being his age, he was intrigued by this, as well as worried about the clown’s circus that had blown away in the storm.
He peeks into the sewer drain with a quizzical expression, grip tightening on the edge so he doesn’t slip where the rain has made the road slick. Brown eyes are wide and filled with a childlike curiosity that was something reserved only for Georgie.
“I-I brought you s-some popcorn! Y’know, c-cause y-your circus got blown away i-in the storm!”
The drain was black and quiet as Pennywise debated whether to answer the boy. IT had planned to eat him in their first encounter, IT’S eagerness had almost given away IT’S plans, but ultimately Georgie had escaped because he moved faster that the clown had anticipated and walked away with his boat unharmed, forcing the creature to seek breakfast elsewhere.
And because of that, Georgie had the wrong impression of the monster, instead of fearing IT, he was curious. Pennywise could easily turn this around, use the boy’s escape as the foundation of trust so It could lure him again…But after IT’S successful hunt, the creature had a full belly and plenty of meat to last a few days still. No need to be concerned about hunting at the moment.
But there was still a year in IT’S feeding cycle, Pennywise could eat him yet.
“–Did someone say POPCORN? My f a v o r i t e–!” The monster turned IT’S eyes blue and stepped into the light with a bright, welcoming smile, “–Hiya, Georgie! No paper boat to fall into the sewer today–?” IT asked with a teasing giggle.

he looks down at the half-finished boat and chews on his lip, thinking.
“well...” he starts, hand patting the floor still, as if he enjoyed the sensation and repetition of it. “billy says all boats are called she. so this one can be s.s. heather !” his excitement grows once more at his decision, small body bouncing up and down as he giggles lightly.
“this one can be yours! i’ll make my own boat later!”

“D’you want one?”
It’s asked innocently enough, brown eyes peering up at the girl with childlike naivety only found in one Georgie Denbrough. The six-year-old holds out a half-finished paper boat to the girl, free hand patting the hardwood floor absentmindedly in a nonsensical pattern unknown to anyone but Georgie.
the older tozier sibling turns on the heels of her boots rather quickly at the question and instantly glances down at georgie with a soft look in her eyes. ❝ sure, but only if ya wanna make one for me. ❞ heather responds in a gentle tone of voice, one she found most suitable for the situation as she kneels down and reaches her hand out, tapping the child’s current work in progress with the tip of her acrylic nail.
❝ boats usually have a name, whats this one? ❞

He gets excited at the mention of his older brother, head raising quick and brown eyes shining brightly. He bounces in his seat and giggles, hands patting the floor as he goes.
“Y-Yeah!” he says happily, toothy grin contagious. “Boats are really cool! Daddy told me an’ Billy we can get one later in the summer when it isn’t so rainy!” He turns his attention back to the paper and starts to fold the sheet into the beginnings of a boat, humming as he goes. He didn’t outright say anything, but the compliment from the other made a look of pride appear on the boy’s face.

“I’ unno why girls like all that make uppy stuff,” he says as he scribbles away on a piece of paper with a blue marker. Lower lip is chewed on by crooked teeth, making Georgie look quite the picture.
“I think they should like boats.” It’s said matter of factly, as if the boy was completely set on this idea. His speech impediment doesn’t help his case much, but Georgie pays no mind.

he scrambles to find his jacket - a gift from bill after his surgery - and struggles to put it on, tongue poking out between his lips as he wrestles with the piece of clothing for a moment before stumbling over to richie, one arm in the sleeve, the other - which happened to be the prosthetic - horribly tangled up in the coat.
“i’ll get it on the way there!” georgie decides, the young boy marching past richie with a determined look on his babyish features. nothing, not even a prosthetic arm, would stop this young boy from having an adventure.

youngest denbrough clings to richie’s leg with a bright laugh of pure glee, big brown eyes peering up at the older boy.
“hey, richie?” lisp marred the other’s name, but georgie didn’t move to correct himself. “could we go to the barrens today?” despite georgie’s near-death encounter with the thing from the barrens - which ended with the loss of his left arm - the seven year old was ever curious of the area his brother and friends call their home away from home.
between georgie’s incident and tracking down that clown to kill it ( as well as dealing with your own problems at home ), you find the barrens to be a getaway ; a break from real life. georgie’s never come with you or the others down to the barrens before as he was always considered too small and even more so after losing an arm. however, nobody has ever told you no you can’t take him. it was just recommended that you don’t, never a definitive no.
so when the boy clings to your leg, filled with curiosity and bright eyes, a grin stretches across your features. ‘ get your jacket, mi amigo. if anybody asks, i’m taking you on an adventure. ’ maybe not the best choice of words as your adventures have gotten people hurt in the past, but you’re going to make extra sure georgie isn’t one of those times.
