these are just my interpretation. feel free to add anything if you’d like.
willow: this song is about lust and desire. there are plenty of references to lyrics she’s written about joe in the past - “wherever you stray, i follow” reminds me of “can i go where you go?” the lyric “show me the places where the others gave you scars” as if to say when you’re in love, you want all of that person - the good and the bad.
champagne problems: taylor referenced this one in her instagram post; this song is about college sweethearts who have two very different plans on the same night. that is, he’s planning to propose, and she’s planning to end things. “you told your family for a reason, you couldn’t keep it in…” “now no one’s celebrating.” the lyric “what a shame she’s fucked in the head” addresses how marriage is something that’s expected of women and when they don’t want it, it’s like there’s something wrong with them.
gold rush: this song has “i’m highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you” vibes. even when you’re in love, it’s easy to convince yourself that you’re not deserving or that you’re not good enough for the person. it’s obvious she thinks highly of the person she’s singing about. in daylight taylor describes their relationship as “golden,” and likewise in gold rush, she’s metaphorically saying she hit the jackpot.
the taylor swift fandom is so wild, I saw taylors insta story and was like ah her a cover of her song is in her favorite show :) good for her :) then an hour later I come on tumblr and I was just
when taylor releases a cover of her song under a fake band name and pseudonym just so the little shits who are holding her discography hostage can’t profit off of it
