Spotlight: Weather-Talent

This weeks spotlight is on the Weather-Talent fairies. Weather-talent fairies are responsible for charting the weather in Pixie Hollow, like fairy meteorologists. Their jobs are difficult since much like everything in Neverland, the weather can have a mind of it’s own. The weather-talents use kites to measure the winds to help them chart weather patterns. But on windy days, I hear it’s fun to catch a ride on the tails of their kites as they soar high above Pixie Hollow.

Spotlight: Glissandra

Today’s Spotlight is Glissandra! Glissandra is our very first fairy to be featured in our spotlight. Glissandra is a light-talent fairy who was briefly featured in “Fira and the Full Moon.” She was also featured in the book “Welcome to Pixie Hollow” where she got her own bio. It reads:

“Glissandra is an unusual light talent. That’s because she loves rainy days! Glissandra enjoys the soft, gray light that shines through the clouds. She tells her friends she thinks it’s “poetic.” She also loves making rainbows after a storm. But Glissandra’s favorite thing about rainy days is the sight of raindrops hanging from a spiderweb. The way her light glistens off the droplets would bring a smile to any fairy’s face!”

Spotlight: The Pixie Dust Well

This weeks spotlight is the pixie dust well. The pixie dust well is the dust that the tree creates falls into. The dust will flow further down the tree into the dust mill which is at the roots of the pixie dust tree. The pixie dust well is where new fairies get their first scoop of pixie dust and discover their talent. The pixie dust well has only ever appeared in the movies, since in the books the fairies get their dust by grinding up Mother Dove’s molted feathers.

Spotlight: Pixie Hollow Games

This weeks spotlight is the Pixie Hollow Games (the special, not the event itself.) The Pixie Hollow Games, or PHG for short, came out in November 19, 2011 and was a 24 minute special that aired on the Disney Channel. The movie features brand new fairies Chloe (Voiced by Brenda Song, the VA of Anne for those who are fans of Amphibia) who is forced to team up with Rosetta to compete in the PHG. The PHG is a series of gaming events that pit the different talent guilds against each other. This special also introduced us to the Storm-Talent Fairies, Rumble and Glimmer.

Did you know that this special was originally going to be the fifth movie in the Disney Fairy franchise? However the studio couldn’t make this idea work as a movie, so they turned it into a TV special instead.

Clank and Bobble are my favorite tinker-talent sparrow men. These boys need more love!

Clank is an amazing tinker-talent.

I just want to point out one of my favourite scenes... You know...

"We're gonna build a boat!"

And whose idea was it to build a boat? Clank's! He's the one who came up with it in the first place! And then he leads this whole team of fairies of all different talents as they build a boat big enough for all of them to comfortably fit in, in a matter of minutes!

Look at him! He's so COOL! I love how you can hear him instructing everyone, asking for more materials, & keeping everyone on track throughout the scene! It really shows how smart & talented he is!

To have the bravery, brains, & kindness to lead a team of non-tinkers in building a boat is just amazing. I love Clank so much & I'm so proud of him. 💚✨

Spotlight: Animal-Talent

Fly with you! For this weeks spotlight, we’re going to focus on the animal-talents! Animal-talents, as the name suggests, works with the animals of Pixie Hollow. Animal-talents can speak to every animal and understand them Whether or not the animal in question wants to listen to them is another thing. Only animal-talents can navigate the underground tunnels that go throughout Pixie Hollow and they arrive knowing how. They’re also responsible for taking care of Mother Dove since she cannot leave her nest and because the fairies love her.

In the movie series, animal-talents were one of the talent guilds that got to travel to the mainland to change the seasons. It also appeared that they took care of the animals and taught them how to behave. In the books, the animals were pretty independent, only calling for the aid of the fairies if an emergency arose.

Spotlight: Fairy Tale Theater

Fly with you! For this weeks spotlight, we’ll be focusing on the Fairy Tale Theater seen in “Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure.” Fairy Tale Theater is a place located in Havendish Stream. Fairy Tale Theater is where all the fairies would go to watch the story-telling-talents perform. Though only featured in the movies and online game, there was a similar activity described in the book “Tink, North of Neverland” where the fairies would gather in the courtyard outside of the Home Tree after dinner and listen to the story-telling talents there.

Despite only appearing in the second Tinker Bell movie, it had a more active role in the online game. Plays could be performed by the players, despite their talent. They could even buy costumes for the plays.

Spotlight: Shoe-making-talent

Fly with you! For our very first spotlight post, I’m sharing with you an interesting talent that goes almost unnoticed. The Shoe-making-talent.

As the name suggests, Shoe-making-talents make shoes for all the fairies and sparrow men of Pixie Hollow. Because fairies don’t typically fly, shoes are lightweight to make flying easier. They can also be intricate, fancy, and delicate since to fairies shoes are more for show then practicality. Not that all their shoes are fancy though.

The only known fairy with the talent was Temma, who is unfortunately drowned in her debut book, “Fairy Haven and the Quest for the Wand.”

Fly with you! I was thinking of doing something a little different then what I have done in the past. I used to create my own headcanons about Pixie Hollow and the Never Fairies and even though I still do, I want to branch away from it.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve just accepted that movie canon and book canon don’t have to make sense and it’s fine. They don’t have to connect, they can both exist separately and still bring joy and inspiration to all of its fans.

So now I want to do a weekly blog post highlighting Pixie Hollow. It can be characters, places, talents, whatever! So I hope you enjoy this new chapter in my tumblr. I’ve got other Disney Fairies projects planned, but I’m not ready to share them yet.
