Malik’s eyes widened at the claim. Fuck. Seriously?
He couldn’t help the small groan of frustration that left him. ”…I wasn’t having a panic attack,“ he replied with a shake of his head. "I’m fine.”
"That's good," Rishid answered honestly. "It's odd she would think you were in so much distress..." Isis was prone to worry, not baseless claims. "Perhaps you should call her and explain the situation to her?" Rishid offered, "it would calm her."

Worship with Both Hands
Over the years, Bakura had become indefinitely used to their visits to Luxor. It happened, perhaps once or twice a year. Malik would be needed for clan business, or so he would say, and yet so much of the visit would be taken up with reunion. With family. With Malik throwing his arms about his sister’s waist, and the strong clasp of Rishid’s hand in Malik’s. It was a family matter.
Bakura felt distant from it. The soft-voweled arabic, strange on his ears, and the familiar heat of a Kingdom that had long crumbled.
With Malik away on business, or reuniting with his siblings, Bakura found he had little to do. The sands outside were the same as ever, but the sun burned quickly in his skin, he looked out of place, and he didn’t speak the language. Instead, he spent his time wandering the Ishtar family home.
Strange to be somewhere so royal. Lush well-fed garden, the palatial gleam of white-washed walls, and glasswork, lazuli-blue, and lapis-green, in faience-patterns framing doorways, and shuttered windows. Mornings spent spent wandering the cool hallways, and afternoons spent lounging absently by the pool in the atrium.
It was strange how much one could long for evening, when Bakura would catch Malik’s mouth with his teeth, kiss him like the long suffusing warmth of sunset. The quiet way missing someone turned into touch, and laughter.
So yes -- Bakura had grown used to Luxor, and it’s place in his life. Was pleased by it, as much as quietened by it. It was important to Malik, and in its own way, important to Bakura. However, the days were still long, still hot, still cramped with boredom, regardless of how opulent the home was.
And never let it be said Bakura could not be self-sufficient.
Today, he had managed to not only scale most of the house without either leaving the property, or using stairs, but he had also found a cache of treasure, safely stored in Rishid’s office, and was now inspecting the gold within with hungry attention. Of course, there was no need to steal from Malik’s family, no need to offend, Bakura only meant to look.
Only look. Every intention to carefully return the find to its home, and replace each lock. Making it look like he’d never even been there was as much a challenge as the initial break-in.
Only look, but Bakura recognized the heavy shape in his hands. The gold eye of wadjet. The careful angles of the horus crown. Atem’s crown. Crowned to a peace that still drew a gush of hate and blood from Bakura’s chest. He stared at it, holding it gingerly in his fingertips.
No, not the same-- the wings were gone. Bakura held the crown in one hand, and rummaged through the treasures, and found the horus wings entirely absent. A low considering hum rumbled through Bakura’s throat, shifting about on the floor, still tightly holding the crown.
He had meant to only look, but- gathering the crown up under his shirt- that felt like an ambitious thing to ask of a Thief King. Carefully returning the office to its prior state, heart beginning to thunder in his ears, Bakura backpaced to his room with Malik, and only once that door was safely shut, did he pull the crown out once again.
Lying across the bed, crown held aloft, Bakura stared at it with hungry eyes until the deep amber of late afternoon turned ruby-like as the sun was swallowed into the mountain ranges. Malik would be home soon, and the gold was a little warm, a little cool, a little heavy in Bakura’s hands.

Ryou also took notice to the casual half-joking statement with a slightly raised eyebrow. It was bizarre to say the least. For once, the stronger reaction was for someone other than Atem. Though, it wasn’t like he was going to point out the obvious. He was sure Bakura noticed it even faster than he did.
When Bakura said his farewell, he gave a silent nod. He turned his body towards the building but paused mid-pivot when he heard his name.
He blinked, eyebrows automatically furrowing at the question. His gaze was pointed at the pavement. Let Bakura crash with him?
Ryou should have automatically said no. He owed Bakura nothing. Even calling Yuugi for Bakura was extremely generous on his part. However, what was more frustrating was his hesitation to deny Bakura. Why the hell was it so hard to keep the bastard out of his apartment? It wasn’t like he liked Bakura’s company!
He opened his mouth to speak, but no sound left his throat. His lips turned into a small frown–more frowning at himself than at Bakura–before he finally managed, “I’ll have to think about it.” It wasn’t a yes by any means, but it was far from a no.
It wasn’t a yes, but it wasn’t a no, and Bakura - even distraught - was accustomed to worming his way in through the smallest gaps in defences. Waving a hand back at Ryou, Bakura flashed a half-hearted grin, a mostly snuffly ‘see you round’, before padding off towards a very different part of town.
Of course, he knew where fuckface lived. Of course he did. Malik and Bakura had made a point of that much. It felt hollow reflecting on it. Bakura didn’t feel like his old self, or new self, or any self. Just carved out. Maybe it’d feel like something filling that with blood, but the presiding craving he had was to just--
Eat like an entire tub of ice-cream.
Bakura stood in front of Kame Game Shop, and finally - hissing with a whistle of air between his teeth - pushed into the shop and stalked towards the counter expectantly. How did one even go about staying at a place? With Ryou, Bakura just crashed in, demanding and rude.

Perhaps it was the difference between subtitles, but Bakura had been at least sort of enjoying the flick. It didn’t seem like the acting could be that bad, but then again -- Malik was a snickering mess, which was definitely ruining the watching experience. The underlying commentary as well. Malik kept side-glancing and remarking at Bakura, who flashed a testy look back, and then refocused on the movie.
Stretching slightly, legs tensing and arching over Malik’s lap, Bakura tipped his head back to drink more of the kefir, licking flecks of white off his lips as he did so.
Malik’s strange imports were rarely of interest to Bakura, and try as Malik might, but introducing Bakura to some of Malik’s childhood dishes had gone over ‘poorly’ to say the least. They had, as it turned out, markedly different tastes. Bakura liked meat, and fish, raw vegetables, and sour fruit. Malik had a sweet tooth, an interest in spiced lentils, and loathed citrus ferociously, and absolutely.
Kefir, as it turned out, was a comfortable compromise. Bakura loved it. Not too sweet, not too sour, just cool and pleasant. A better texture than hummus, and baba ganoush, less irritating flavours too. Kefir was a hit.
“M’comfy,” Bakura countered, licking at the rim of the container with ill-disguised relish.
My Name is Kefir
Malik was distracted with the B-movie action flick that was playing on the TV screen. He gave a small snort of amusement at the obvious bad acting and cheesy, over-the-top dialogue. There were Japanese subtitles underneath, but he honestly didn’t need them. He could understand the English just fine.
There was a half-eaten bowl of popcorn on the coffee table and he sat with Bakura’s legs draped over his lap. “Can you believe this shit?” he asked with a snicker. “Cobra Attack?” He grinned, teeth gleaming under the dim light. “I can’t tell if this is supposed to be a cheesy movie or some horrible shounen anime!”
He glanced over at his partner who seemed to be currently occupied with a cup of Kefir yogurt. Unlike eating it like any civilized person, Bakura was attempting to slurp out the contents of the cup like a drink.  He raised an eyebrow at the slight, his lavender eyes glowing with amusement. “You know you could just get a spoon, right?”

Malik’s breathing had picked up tenfold through their kissing and heavy petting. Everything about this felt amazingly good. Not only that but right in a way he couldn’t explain. He almost wondered if they had they had done this in a previous lifetime.
He drew back when he felt the push on his chest. His heart was hammering against the soft palm of Bakura’s hand. His face was flushed, breath coming out in heavy pants. Gods only knew just how out of sorts his hair looked at the moment.
Malik’s eyes burned with an intensity that was entirely breathtaking. The lavender practically glowed darker even under the lights of the room. He wanted Bakura and it bled out of his body language.
He seemed to snap out of his lustful trance once Bakura spoke again. He let out a breathy laugh and sat back of his hunches to give Bakura some space to recover. “I’m one of a kind,” he remarked arrogantly with a grin.
There were only so many people entitled to Bakura’s story. To the shape, and river of his life, as it ebbed and drained and overflowed around him. Malik, oddly enough, was someone Bakura wouldn’t expect to fall into that category. He was so young, and so alive, and so- so new.
It had been longer than Bakura thought since he’d been surprised by anything new.
Bakura watched Malik strain to catch his breath, felt it under his palm, and -- shivered. Hard.
There was a brief, delicate moment, when Bakura moved forward very slightly, tongue running over his lip. Eager to reinitiate, and eager to burn, but, then it bled out-- Malik laughed, and Bakura laughed with him, and the heat of Malik’s body let Bakura out of its grasp.
Sitting up slightly, tossing hair out of his eyes, Bakura grinned back at Malik, eyebrow raised. “I’m glad I met you,” Bakura said, far too honest, but his mood was easy, generous at the moment. It had been so long since something new had ever caught Bakura.

Is it me, or does Bakura as a rp character seems to attract assholes?
There’s a fair few amount of shitty people out there who enjoy acting out their shittiness, living vicariously through characters who are assholes as an excuse. It does the rest of the yugioh rp community a disservice.
That being said, I am spitefully reblogging.
I have no idea if this roleplay blog is trying to be cute, or transphobic

“I’m dead to him @hostofthering.”
Attention Bakura Ryou Blogs!
Tumblr media
As you may or my not know, I am doing Inktober.  And I have this idea for the next week’s drawings, it will hopefully be kinda stupid funny.
I need at least 4 or 5 pairs of Ryou+Yami Bakura pairs.
This is where you come in.  Your Ryou muse must be comfortable saying “You’re dead to me.” To a Bakura.  So if you don’t mind me drawing your Ryou/Bakura then please do the following:
If you are a “Ryou”, please reblog this post with:
“You’re dead to me” @thetagoftheBakura.
If you are a “Bakura”, please reblog this post with:
“I’m dead to him” @thetagoftheRyou.
If you are either/ neither but do not want to participate, but like the idea, please give a blank reblog.
I leave it up to you guys to make sure the other person is ok with being drawn.  Different verses are accepted, but must have a humanoid form.
I’m looking for muses with a potentially distinct style of cloths or behavior etc, so I’m not drawing the same Ryou/Bakura over.  So if your Bakura wears like…a jumpsuit or a Ryou covered in paint, I’ll love little features like that.
After Sunday, I will chose my pairs, and I will be sending each of the Bakura’s a message asking them: “What is your reaction to your Ryou saying you are dead to them?”  And I’ll need a simple reaction response.  Your response may be considered in that day’s ink.
I hope this works!
THANK YOU!! =3=
This is call out is open until Sunday evening.

duelingdestiny:
Atem almost stopped at Bakura’s laugh. That one he hadn’t heard before. Bakura sounded pleased. He had been the one to pull that laugh out of him, and frankly, there wasn’t even that much pulling to be done. Making Bakura laugh and smile was EASY. “I suppose, it’s your spine.” He teased. “Personally I would just figure out how to rob my substantial bank account.” Was he baiting him? Possibly, but he would gladly give Bakura money if he had the need.
Bakura’s answer had Atem tilting his head. “What do you mean you keep getting pulled back here?” He asked curiously. “Home can be a very tricky thing to find sometimes.” His smile was warm as they continued on.
He did stop in his tracks this time at Bakura’s question and it was Atem’s turn to laugh. He shook his head. “Oh gods what a question.” Before Bakura could think he was mocking him Atem continued on. “Of course I believe in ghosts. I would say that I have seen a few in my time.” He admitted. “Why do you ask?”
At the threat, Bakura went quiet, watching Atem warily. The laughter had been easy, but where trading threats and grievous bodily harm was normal once, now Bakura was clearly unnerved by it.
He thought Atem might have been teasing. He hoped so. Atem was smiling, and Bakura tentatively returned to conversation. Still, he glossed over Atem’s threat, focusing in on Atem’s answer. The laughter was surprising, and Bakura was already closing up--
“Oh. Good,” he nodded at Atem. “It’s hard to explain why I keep coming back here, without--” Bakura gestured with one hand, twirling it in the air, “sounding kinda superstitious.”
He tilted his head, brushing his hair back over his shoulder. “This isn’t home, but it feels like being here is the way back,” his gaze slid off into the middle distance. “Even when I try to leave, I seem to just- find my way back. Like there’s something left unfinished, and I can’t leave until I find out what.”
He rolled his shoulder. “This city is drawing me for some reason, and- not like I have much else to go on, so I’m trusting my instincts.” Then he glanced over at Atem. “I’m not crazy,” he stated firmly, “just... lost.”

duelingdestiny:
Atem remembered the way, but only to a certain point. He had followed Bakura before, but they had never actually made it all the way to his flat. Atem always managed to get Bakura back to his house before he got too far, so naturally his panic spiked thinking that Bakura might have gotten so far ahead that he wasn’t going to be able to catch up with him.
In fact, Atem was so intent of catching him, that he actually walked right past the bench Bakura was sitting on. He backed up and breathed out a deep sigh, trying to catch his breath. “Oh thank all the gods.” He said moving to sit down, as far away from Bakura on the bench as possible mind you. “I…I came to apologize.”
He turned a little so he could see Bakura. So Bakura could see that he was serious, not that he was even certain if that would help, but it was what he could do. He just waited hoping that Bakura would at least listen to what he had to say.
If Atem hadn’t shown up - and frankly, Bakura didn’t remotely imagine Atem would - Bakura was already planning on various hiding places he could stow for a few nights. Longer, if need be, although the thought made Bakura’s lip curl back. Still panting, softer now, Bakura didn’t immediately register Atem was walking past.
Then he was. Bakura squinted, and Atem back paced.
Bakura turned a little so he could swipe at Atem if he needed to, but Atem was pretty far away on the bench. Outside of immediate swiping distance anyway. And Bakura was still tired.
“Apologize?” Bakura couldn’t help but cough out incredulously.
But Atem had shown up, looking apologetic, and rueful, and Bakura’s ankle ached, and his lungs burned, and Bakura did have a limit to poor choices. He gathered himself politely, schooling his features into neutral, and open acceptance.
“Okay,” he nodded. “Let me catch my breath.”

Atem’s brow shot up. “I suppose if you have a specific need for my things then you’re welcome to them, but if it’s a matter of money you could simply ask? It would far easier than trying to drag the couch down the stairs.” Atem lips twitched at the idea of Bakura single-handedly trying to drag his large reclining couch down the stairs but if anyone could do it, it was Bakura. Atem was certain of that.
There was a satisfaction to seeing Bakura choose to walk through the park. To see that he was still cautious but definitely not afraid. He walked carefully. Gauged his surroundings, kept his eyes on Atem. He had to appreciate Bakrua’s vigilance.
“Indeed.” Atem agreed with a smile as Bakura made his way inside. Atem loved this park and it was the reason he had picked his flat in the first place. He liked looking out the floor to ceiling window in his eighth floor flat to see the trees swaying against the wind.
“So…” Atem said attempting to figure more out about what exactly had happened to Bakura but not wanting to push too hard. “How long have you been in Domino?”
That drew a bright cackle from Bakura, throwing his hand back to appreciatively laugh. “Ah, but better to ask forgiveness than permission,” he pointed out. Still, slinking through the park, alert but comfortable in the environment, Bakura picked at plants as they passed them.
“Not sure, obviously,” he tilted his head back to study the sky above them. “At least a year. I’ve thought about leaving, it doesn’t feel like home, but...” Bakura clicked his tongue. “Lots of things, really. It’s difficult to leave, and I keep getting pulled back here...”
He glanced over at Atem, eyes narrowing very slightly with interest. “Do you believe in ghosts?” he asked abruptly.

Atem laughed. “I honestly don’t.” It was the truth. Bakura could take everything and he gave him the key. There was nothing he could do about it. “I suppose I’m trusting you, which may be an awful idea.” He sighed and pushed his bangs out of his face. “But I don’t think it is, and I’m pretty good with hunches.” Atem smirked over his shoulder.
“We can either walk through the park which will take a couple of blocks off the trip, or we can walk around.” He offered. He knew that perhaps Bakura would feel closed in by the confines of the park and Atem wasn’t in a hurry to get home anyways so he figured it would hurt to give him the option.
It would be interesting to see which Bakura picked. The Bakura of old would have chose to go around. Too many things could corner you in the park, but this Bakura seemed at least a little at ease, but still just as cautious. Atem honestly couldn’t even hazard a guess as to what the other’s answer might be so he simply stopped at the gated entrance to the park and waited for his answer.
“...what if I needed to steal your stuff,” Bakura pointed out, now becoming almost playful. He raised an eyebrow at Atem, but still shrugged at him, flicking his hair back over his shoulder. Frankly, Atem’s trusting attitude was practically throwing warning bells in Atem’s face like a mismatched choir. “For the record, this seems like a pretty good way to lure unsuspecting victims into a park in the middle of the night.”
Despite that, Bakura merely snorted, and trotted towards the gated entrance. Cautious he might be, and yes, he was keeping an eye on Atem, but as Atem put it -- Bakura had a hunch.
“Quicker, and nicer walk,” Bakura said by way of explanation.

duelingdestiny:
Atem nodded. “Thank you.” He wanted to say the same to Bakura but in what world did Bakura have a home? Atem felt the anger bubble up in him again and he REALLY wanted to punch someone in the face. His first through was Anubis. If anyone had anything to do with this, he assumed it was that smug ass.
His smile was back in full force as Bakura took the key. At least now Bakura HAD it. Of course, the thief was stubborn and Atem wondered if he would even use it, but the temptation was there that much was for certain. He just hoped that Bakura wouldn’t be in complete dire straits when he decided to finally take him up on the offer as they say.
“Of course. Like I said, I am not pushing you into anything.” He promised once again. He stood up discarding his own bag before setting off the way he came. “It’s not too far.” He promised waiting for Bakura to join him. “About six blocks into town.
If Bakura knew Domino, he would know Atem’s flat was located in the nicer Part of town. A couple of blocks away from Kaiba Corp. in one of the new high rises over looking the park.
“Good,” Bakura nodded. It would not turn out well for anyone to push Bakura; what he would do, he didn’t know, but he knew it would be something regretful. Trotting after Atem, and finally falling in alongside him, Bakura followed him.
Cautiously, maybe. He was watchful of Atem, and slightly at Atem’s back, so that if need be, he could lunge towards, or away from him. But still, Atem had mostly shown kindness, and the edge of Bakura’s guard soothed.
“Nice area,” he commented. So Atem was rich? That explained a lot. Perhaps it was inherited. How else would someone live so near Kaiba Corp? The key was almost a heat sink in Bakura’s pocket; it would be easy to rob Atem. Still, he doubted that fell under Atem’s claim of if Bakura needed anything.
Cautious, probing, Bakura pointed this out: “We did meet when I was robbing a vending machine; how do you know I won’t just take all your shit?” It was a test, that much Bakura knew, but what he was testing, even he wasn’t fully sure.
