Summer is upon us, and with it comes one of our favorite events, one of the things that make our fandom truly special: our rarepairs!

Whether it’s some of the minor pairings from the very show, or one of the characters from the show meeting another from one of the actor’s movies - or the actual rare pairings, two characters from different movies meeting, being best friends, being partners in crime, or falling in love in a shared universe… The Hannibal fandom would not be the same without these incredibly creative combinations. And the best thing is that… the limit is your imagination!

For the third year in a row, we’re hosting #EatTheRare! From July 22nd-29th, create anything  (fic, art, gifset, edits, crafts, etc!) based on the fandom’s rarepairs and original characters based on the actors, as long as it has never been posted before and it fits the theme, and post it with the hashtag #EatTheRare.

My goofy self forgot to post the chapter link in case anyone on Tumblr is reading this. So…here ya go! Chapter 3 features a tournament, a horse, and a date.

Chapter 3: The Prince’s Wolf

The sound of the breath being knocked from Charles’ lungs was all the encouragement Nigel needed to forget about his throbbing ribs and lunge forward. He’d already unseated Joles and Ethan easily during this training session, the other squires not daring to challenge him.

          In the seven months since Adam’s birthday, Nigel had trained hard. He pestered Harlan for advice on his stances and attacks. He watched the other boys closely as they scrapped, noting weaknesses and faults in their defenses. He memorized every challenge and victory he earned, so he could show Adam how he’d won over dinner or during their reading lessons.

          Now, it was becoming easy to win. Only Charles, with the tattered ear and sneering smile, could still best Nigel on occasion. 

          But not today.

          Not with Adam clapping happily beside Harlan in the courtyard. Cheering for the Wolf and calling out that he should keep his shoulder up. Charles hit the ground hard when Nigel threw his shield into his faulds, causing the boy to buckle.

          Nigel was on him before he could roll over, blade pressed to the soft spot beneath Charles’ chin.

          “Yield.”

          “You fight without honor,” spat Charles. “Like an animal.”

          “Yield,” snarled Nigel. “Or I’ll take your other fucking ear.”

Summary: Nigel’s all but left for dead and to clean himself up, but the sounds of someone’s violin playing keep him grasping to life and healing up just fine. So much so, Nigel goes next door to find out who saved inadvertently his life.

The next day, after setting Adam up with work to do from home, Nigel moved his pots and pans and rest of his food over and then his clothes, and personal effects. It wasn’t a lot. He put everything where it belonged and kept his clothes in Adam’s father’s room, as not to get in Adam’s way.

Adam had added Nigel to the chore chart, dividing it up evenly, and even printed a copy of his daily and weekly routine to put on the fridge. He felt good about everything so far. After finishing up the work for the club, he walked over to his beau. “I like working from home, but I think once a week, I’ll need to go to the club to verify that the lighting and sound are still working as they should. D-Do you need any help?” He had to remember to ask people that, since he often forgot.

“I got it, darling.” Nigel smiled over at Adam, putting dishes away from the dishwasher. “Thank you. I agree, once a week, at the most, if that’s what works for you.”

“Yes, I think that’s the best arrangement.” Adam went to the closet in the kitchen and pulled out a broom and dustpan, so he could sweep while Nigel tended to his things. “Oh and you’re welcome.”

They cleaned up and Nigel smiled to himself how it all felt very domestic. “I put my place up for sale.”

“That’s good. The market is doing well at the moment,” Adam stated, putting away the broom and then he marked off the chores with a dry erase marker. He felt very comfortable and happy.

“I’m not worried about it, I have you, the club. It’s just more money.” Nigel had a lot more than he let on to, but he didn’t flaunt it around.

Adam cocked his head curiously at the comment. Why wouldn’t Nigel worry about how much his home sold for? “I can help with it if you need me too. Money is always important. I have savings but not nearly enough.”

Will has to operate the spore drive and he starts seeing things. He seems to get glimpses into universes that are not his own. Like seeing the imposing Doctor from the sickbay covered in blood, his hands in the cavern of the dead body of Captain Lorca.

This is some preview sketches for a story of mine that I’m still finishing up for @hannibalcreative‘s MythsofBlood. The story features Aiden from Blood & Chocolate paired with Nigel from Charlie Countryman. In it, Aiden is playing an Icarus sort of character trying to catch the sun(or, rather, sun god Nigel). 

The first has Aiden with scars because he’s had many attempts by that point. I kept his wings vague because he goes through a few different styles. Starting with wax and progressing towards wood, cloth, leather, and gears. 

In the second, I based Nigel off of Apollo statues. He’s lucky he got as many clothes as he did! XD 

And the third is a very sketchy Nigel crying over Aiden being on fire while Aiden speaks soothingly to him and is just happy to have caught up to him.
