Late to this, but honestly your art work is absolutely perfect, not all of the pro Palestinian art may be appropriate for a conversation with a younger audience, but with what you have created and share will create the ability to communicate. I just want to thank you!

I'm not Palestinian but I have seen at least some Palestinians online /encouraging/ people to draw characters with flags etc. it doesn't seem disrespectful to me. I agree with the other asker that people are just going to all have different opinions and that's ok.

that's exactly why I drew it, after seeing posts like that! previously I thought it would be inappropriate, that's why I've waited so long to draw anything. it's largely on twitter I've seen that type of encouragement though and maybe not everyone feels the same way...that's okay I think! thank you I'm gonna keep it up!

Your art is not inappropriate!!!! You're helping how you can, by raising awareness. I don't think it's trivializing anyway, but regardless you didn't make them to minimize the issue but the opposite. I think it's pretty stupid to get on someone's case because of their art style being too "cute" to talk about a serious issue because art is subjective, like what makes one piece too cute and another one fine? Anyway, thank you for using your art and your voice to keep Palestine on people's minds. PS Hello Kitty DOES say acab she told me

Honestly I think you're not going to find two people who think the same about it. On one hand using popular characters to gain attention for the problem is a way of spreading awareness on the other hand what is it saying about the subject. In the case of hello kitty says acab, not much. I'll agree on that much with the other anon.

You're sharing links to information so honestly I think you're doing your best. I don't know it's the best way to help but I will say people assuming it was made in bad faith are looking for reasons to get mad.

thank you for your input, I really do appreciate other perspectives on this. I truthfully wouldn't have drawn them if I didn't see palestinians on twitter encouraging it from artists. I only want to do what I can with my small platform and limited skillset.

in the future I'd probably write a longer description encouraging people to donate, it slipped my mind because on twitter that's hard to do with the limited word count.

if others could weigh in on that I'd appreciate it. there's threads circulating on twitter currently encouraging people to draw their faves with flags which is what spurred me to join in - if my style or character choice felt inappropriate I'll take them down. I never want to water down the message of something so serious, I just want to use my platform the way I know how.

Don't you think those Miffy and Maisey posts are a little 'hello kitty says ACAB'? I appreciate the links- but people are dying and to see it being aestheticised, the plea for peace turned cutesy marketable rebloggable, like yeah, I definitely feel that's insensitive

I was worried about that myself, I'll take them down if you'd like. I never want to use an issue like this to promote myself. I've seen palestinians on twitter encourage artists to use their voice in whatever way they can, regardless of style or skill level, and my art has always been very cutesy with children's characters as the subject. if anyone else thinks they feel inappropriate I'll remove them. I'm not selling them or profiting from them, just using them as a means to spread links.
