Tips for Senior's
Spend time with friends and family. - Although it may be tough, make sure to spend lots & lots of time with friends & family members. This is your last year of high school and then you'll be on your own. Whether that includes going to college, joining the service, etc. You might be away from home for a while and probably won't get to see them a whole lot.
2. TAKE PICS WHENEVER!!!!!! - Like I said before, this is your very last year of high school so you'll want to capture as many memories as possible. From senior prom to homecoming games, you'll end up looking back at these photos and wonder where the time went.
3. Occassionally check on college application status's - During you're junior year, you are going to want to start applying to a number of colleges and this is the year where you'll find out whether or not you got into those schools so it's important to keep up with those status's.
4. start filling out things like FAFSA and work on saving money - FAFSA ( Free application for federal student aid ) is very important because this is where you'll get a lot of your money for college. You'll also want to apply for scholarships and sometimes, you'll even get a scholarship from your school ( Ex. Academic, sports, music, etc. ). It's also important that you save money so that way you'll have extra money to put away for college or things you might need. Some ways to save money are to get a part-time job, set up saving goals, etc.
5. Don't wait until the last minute to order stuff - This is very important because you're going to want to do this before graduation. The minute you know something about things like your cap & gown, you'll want to save money so you can pay for your cap & gown when it's time to buy them.
6. Order your announcements in advance - Just like with your cap & gown, you are going to want to order your announcements as soon as possible. Of course, you want to wait until you have all the correct & right information about your graduation to order your announcements. You will also want to send them out about 2-3 weeks before graduation.

Do's & Don'ts of Junior year.
Here are some Do's & Don'ts for your junior year of High School.
Don't: Take it easy - Consider your junior year a warm up for senior year. Now is the time when you will be taking the ACT/SAT & this is also where you really need to focus on your grades. Also, this is the time to be looking at & applying to colleges.
Do: Attend College fairs - I didn't do this my junior year of High School and I still regret it. These college fairs will have all sorts of information about the colleges & classes, you'll get to meet some reps, and maybe even get some tips on applying to colleges.
Don't: skip the ACT/SAT - Most days, a lot of colleges require you to get a certain score on either the ACT or the SAT so don't skip these tests. Taking these tests and getting a certain score could possibly determine what college you'll be going to. Also, a lot of schools require you to take either tests at least once before you can graduate.
Don't: avoid teachers and counselors - Although teachers and counselors can seem annoying sometimes, they only want to help you succed in life and that won't work if you avoid them. Most teachers and counselors are able to help with things like school work, tutoring ( if needed ), and they might be able to even give you a letter of reccomendation for college.
Do: start saving money - This is the time where you need to start saving money for things like college, tution, housing, etc. Try getting a part-time job or doing some things to earn extra money like mowing lawns, delivering newspapers, babysitting, etc. That way, by the time you get to college, you can put all that hard earned money towards your future.

Sophomore year Tips.
Here are a few tips I have for sophomore year of High School. I hope these help any sophomore's out there.
Don't pull all-nighters - It's never a good idea to pull an all-nighter because first of all, you will possibly end up messing up your school schedule. Second of all, you will be exhausted the next day and that won't be good for you because if you end up falling asleep in class, you might miss something like notes for a quiz or test, a homework assignment, or insturctions for an assignment. The last reason why it's never ok to pull all-nighters is because you will be very grumpy the next day.
Get a planner to prevent procrastination - it's important to have a planner because it can help you keep everything organized. Sometimes, it can be hard to keep track of assignments, especially when you have multiple classes. A planner is amazing to have because then you'll be able to keep track of your assignments for your different classes.
Start making your college list - I know this sounds like a big one but trust me, you are gonna want to do this because when you get to your junior year of HS, that's the year you'll want to start applying to colleges.
take an AP class - You'll want to do this if you want to study math, science, or history majors when you head off to college and this is important because this will give you college credit, which means that you most likely won't have to take the same class in college that you took your sophomore year.
start applying for scholarships - you'll want to start applying for scholarships during sophomore year because you'll want to have enough money put away and saved for when you head off to college.
I know these aren't a lot of tips but I hope these help any sophomore in High School.

Tips for First-Time freshman's
Being a first-time High school student can be hard for a number of reasons. I should know, I was terrified on my first day of high school. If it wasn't for my cousin sharing these tips that she used during her freshman year, I think I would have been utterly lost. Here are 6 tips for freshman's going into high school.
Learn the school - This usually works when you attend open houses before and sometimes even after school starts. Usually before school starts, you and your family would attend an open house and this is where you would get your class schedule, meet your teachers, and if you're lucky, you'll get a tour of the school.
Stay organized - It is VERY important that you stay organized for school. This includes going school supply shopping and buying supplies like paper, pencils & pens, a new backpack, a binder, etc. Sometimes, even doing things like decorating your locker, notebooks, binder, etc can help keep you motivated to keep things organized. It sure helped me freshman year.
Get involved - Sometimes, getting involved with a sport or a club can be helpful for a number of reasons. First of all, it can help you make new friends. Second of all, particpating in sports and clubs can actually look good on things such as college applications. It shows that you like to get involved with your community.
DO NOT SKIP CLASS - This is probably the most important tip I can give you. Skipping class is NEVER a good idea. It may seem cool and you might think it will make you popular but it will do nothing but get you into trouble. When you don't show up to your class, you are usually counted absent and you are only allowed to be absent so many times before you & possibly your parents get into trouble. Also, if you were to ever get caught skipping and got something like a suspension or a detention, it would go on your permanent record and a bad HS record is NEVER good to have when applying to colleges in the future.
Ask questions in class - This is important because it can actually help you every time. Some people are scared to ask questions because they are either shy or are afraid they will look dumb but if you don't ask questions, you most likely won't get the help you need whether that's with an assignment or on a quiz so always ask for help.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK - This may sound like a tough one but it's very important. Homework is very important because it's apart of your school cirricullium. When you don't do your homework for a class, you will most likely get low points on the assignment which will cause your grade to drop. Now, there are exceptions like if you suffered an emergency or if something serious happened that caused you to not be able to do your homework but using excuses like "I was up playing video games" will NEVER work.
I will be posting tips for sophomore's, Juniors, & senior's so don't worry. Also, I hope these tips will help any freshman who is struggling with going into High School.

Introduction.
Hi everyone. My name is Brooke and I wanted to introduce myself. I am a senior in high school and will be graduating in about 5 weeks. I started HS back in August of 2019 and have attended my freshman, Junior, and senior year at U.S. Grant High School.
The reason I didn't complete my sophomore year at Grant is because my parents and I decided it would be best if I was homeschooled due to COVID & issues with bullying. I did half of my freshman year at Grant in person and then had to finish the year online due to COVID hitting us.
Sophomore year, I was of course homeschooled and struggled quite a bit with my classes and school work. I did end up passing my final exams and finished my sophomore year with a bang.
My junior year, I went back to Grant and completed the whole year in person. That year, I was actually apart of a couple clubs like an LGBTQ+ club and the newspaper club. I did struggle with making and keeping friends but I did meet some great people who I'm still friends with to this day.
Now I'm in my senior year. Because of the school shooting in Texas last year, I didn't really want to go back to school in person. My school offers an online program called E3 online learning so I've been doing that all year. E3 is actually amazing. I have amazing teachers, the classes are so easy, and I literally get to work at my own pace so I finished my first semester of work before winter break and I recently finished my second semester of work about a month ago so now I am just chilling and getting ready for graduation.
