UFC’s Masvidal tells Khabib manager Ali Abdelaziz to ‘get off whoever’s D*CK you’re hating’ in game cover row
UFC ‘BMF’ Jorge Masvidal has reacted furiously to an apparent taunt over his “double-digit losses” by Ali Abdelaziz, amid calls for Khabib Nurmagomedov to become the cover star for a new UFC video game.
In a thinly-veiled jibe featuring a mock-up of Nurmagomedov on the front of the box for the forthcoming UFC 4 on PlayStation, Abdelaziz insinuated that creators EA Sports’ current unknown cover star was unworthy of being the face of the game because of the losses they had accumulated during their career, adding that his client’s perfect record made him the superior option.
Masvidal seemed to take Abdelaziz’s attack personally with a typically forthright tweet alongside an emoji featuring a rat and what appeared to be a reference to Nurmagomedov’s manager being named as a double agent for the FBI and NYPD in a 2013 book, echoing an outburst by Conor McGregor when the former champion called Abdelaziz a “f*cking snitch terrorist rat.”
“This should be the new cover,” announced Abdelaziz, producing a piece of fan art showing Nurmagomedov as the figurehead of the game.
This should be the new cover This man never lost I know who will be on the new cover One is good but another has a double digit loses EA sports people sucks @TeamKhabib pic.twitter.com/9byCV9TcMY
— Ali Abdelaziz (@AliAbdelaziz00) June 20, 2020
You should get off of whoever’s d**k you are hating on now. You talk a lot. That’s an understatement you are a certified informant 🐀
— Jorge Masvidal UFC (@GamebredFighter) June 21, 2020
“This man never lost. I know who will be on the new cover. One is good but another has double-digit losses. EA Sports people suck.”
Masvidal, who has 13 defeats from 48 fights and beat Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in New York in November, did not reply to Abdelaziz directly but appeared to be hitting back when he tweeted: “You should get off whoever’s d*ck you are hating on now.
“You talk a lot. That’s an understatement. You are a certified informant.”
Fans will have to wait until UFC 251 on July 11, which will feature Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman in the headline fight in Masvidal’s welterweight division, to discover the identity of the fighter on the cover, with featherweight great Amanda Nunes and middleweight champion Israel Adesanya also rumored to be in the running – although their records would rule them out should Abdelaziz’s claim be accurate.

Demand for US dollar as world’s reserve currency ‘seems to be waning’ – Deutsche Bank
The currency markets are currently facing “multiple cross-currents” on rising global concerns over a potential second wave of Covid-19, said Deutsche Bank’s chief Asia macro strategist Sameer Goel.
According to him, the “big question” for investors right now is whether the US dollar should be trading at a safe-haven risk premium.
Goel told CNBC that since March investors have been favoring the greenback over its peers in the Group of 10 countries, in part due to “emergency dollar demand” as the world went into a synchronized shutdown to stop the spread of the pandemic. As investors typically flock to the US dollar in times of uncertainty, in part due to its position as the world’s reserve currency, “that emergency dollar demand seems to be waning.”
Furthermore, “the exit strategy for the US, if anything, looks poorer than it is for the rest of the world,” Goel said referring to the lifting of lockdown measures and the reopening of the economy. “Our mobility tracker suggests that, [the] bulk of Europe, for example, is opening up faster than [the] US is.”

China’s digital yuan could replace bitcoin & end US dollar hegemony
On Monday, the US dollar index stood at 97.503 against a basket of its peers. Earlier in June, it was trading at levels below 96.5.
Asked about the outlook for the Chinese yuan, the strategist said the fundamentals for the currency in terms of the underlying balance of flows are “very much getting more favorable.”
The onshore Chinese yuan was last trading at 7.0804 against the greenback, having seen levels around 7.11 earlier in June. The offshore yuan changed hands at 7.0744 per dollar, compared to levels around 7.12 seen earlier in the month.
Goel pointed out that as China progressively opens up its financial markets, and is being included in various indexes, and introduces more local currency-denominated assets, the “portfolio flow story incrementally does become more positive” for the yuan.

With economy imploding, US losing its superpower status to make room for Russia and China, says Max Keiser
“We’ve seen yuan being relatively sort of stable and within a range, and that is partly to do also with … a lot of dividend payments and the fact that obviously there was a lot of noise along the US-China axis as well… Of late, we have seen that it feels like at least the phase one trade deal seems largely secure, for now.”
Goel still warned that the “drag” and headwind ahead for the renminbi primarily centers around concerns ahead of the US elections, where more tensions between the two countries could raise the yuan’s risk premium. “I think that’s the one thing which is holding back the (Chinese) currency,” he said.

Taking aim at Trump? WHO chief says politicization of Covid-19 has ‘exacerbated’ global health crisis
Using the coronavirus to score political points has only made the global health crisis worse, the World Health Organization’s director-general has claimed, in what some have interpreted as a broadside against Donald Trump.
The politicization of the pandemic has “exacerbated” the effects of the disease, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during an online conference on Monday, warning that the virus was still spreading.
We know that the pandemic is much more than a health crisis, it is an economic crisis, a social crisis and in many countries a political crisis. Its effects will be felt for decades to come.
Adhanom Ghebreyesus didn’t get into specifics while speaking to the health ministers of the UAE, Sweden, and Norway during the virtual summit, but it appears many took his remarks as a not-so-subtle slight against US President Donald Trump.
Without naming President #Trump , #WHO Director-General – Tedros Ghebreyesus says that the ‘politicization of the #coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated it.’ He also adds – there is a lack of global leadership that is needed during this crisis to unite the world. @WorldGovSummit
— Sameer Hashmi (@sameerhashmi) June 22, 2020
Trump announced at the end of May that he would cut ties with the WHO, accusing the organization of doing Beijing’s bidding and failing to enact reforms following the outbreak of Covid-19. The US leader claims that China pressured the health agency to mislead the world about the coronavirus after the first outbreak was detected in Wuhan in December.
Washington’s decision to pull its funding was condemned by China and even prompted US ally Germany to express concern about the potential “backlash” it would have on international health.

Trump’s cut-off may be the euthanasia WHO needs
Adhanom Ghebreyesus’ comments could mark a widening rift between his organization and the US. The WHO chief had previously praised Washington’s “immense” contribution to global health and called for cooperation despite Trump’s move to quit the UN body.
There have been nearly nine million Covid-19 cases registered worldwide since December, resulting in around 468,000 deaths, according to a tally maintained by Johns Hopkins University. Some countries, such as South Korea, have reimposed measures to stop the spread of coronavirus following a second wave in new cases.

‘I’ll take this’: Russian figure skating ‘striptease’ star Tuktamysheva does bikini dance on boat as ‘compensation for lockdown’
Russian former world figure skating champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, also known for her ‘striptease’ routine, has showed off more of her moves by dancing on a sun-kissed boat as she overcomes the restrictions of quarantine.
The 23-year-old posed for two photos in Calvin Klein swimwear on a flight of stairs leading into the sea before dancing in a shirt to the approval of some of her following of more than 184,000 on following.
Tuktamysheva, who has set pulses races during lockdown by dancing on social media and taking part in a glamorous photoshoot on FaceTime, declared: “If this is compensation for the missed spring, then I agree.”
Having demonstrated some of the secrets of her trusted triple axle move on Friday while telling supporters that self-belief was critical, Tuktamysheva provided a self-reflective post a couple of days before her boat trip.
Looking out to sea from a bench, she said she had been looking at old notes she had made on her phone about “what I love in people and what I hate.”
“I re-read it and realised that at least in some ways I remained stable,” she added. “I love kindness, sincerity and honesty and I hate hypocrisy and narcissism.
“This is just part of the list, but they are the most important things for me regarding people. What traits are important for you?”

Outcry & cheers as Teddy Roosevelt statue in NYC to be dismantled over ‘depicting black & indigenous people as racially inferior’
The New York mayor ordered the removal of a statue of Theodore Roosevelt on horseback, flanked by a Native American man and an African man, arguing it feeds into racial stereotypes.
“The American Museum of Natural History has asked to remove the Theodore Roosevelt statue because it explicitly depicts Black and Indigenous people as subjugated and racially inferior,” New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement on Sunday.
De Blasio noted that the city authorities sided with the museum, calling the idea to get rid of the “problematic” statue, “the right decision” at the “right time.” The NYC mayor was apparently referring to the Black Lives Matter protests, which have seen activists taking out their anger on statues they see as celebrating the legacy of racism.

Turning tables: Conservatives ‘call’ to cancel Yale for being named after slave trader
The museum said that it does not plan to ‘cancel’ Roosevelt altogether. After becoming president in 1901, Theodore Roosevelt, known as Teddy, championed the nation’s conservationist efforts, providing federal protection for over 230 million acres of public land. While his statue will be removed, the museum will seek to honor his legacy by naming one of the halls after him, the museum’s president, Ellen Futter, told the Times.
The statue’s looming removal has been backed by the 26th president’s descendant, Theodore Roosevelt IV, who heaped scorn on the statue, which was unveiled in 1940, saying it does not reflect his ancestor’s values.
The announcement has triggered pushback as well as praise online.
Teddy Roosevelt has nothing to do with the Confederacy.
None of this has to do with the Confederacy or racism.
They want to rewrite America’s history.
Soon they’ll be teaching that an androgynous, pansexual, gender-fluid humanoid named “Pat” was the first President.
— Errol Webber For Congress (CA-37) (@ErrolWebber) June 21, 2020
Some cried foul over the move, noting that there are other historical figures far more deserving of the ‘honor’ of being knocked off their pedestals.
Again! And notice the pattern: No one is smashing FDR or LBJ statues even though they were far greater bigots than Teddy Roosevelt https://t.co/OqeUGiYiki
— Dinesh D’Souza (@DineshDSouza) June 21, 2020
Others suggested that by removing the Roosevelt statue, the NYC authorities are taking a step down a slippery slope.
Now they’re removing a statue of Teddy Roosevelt.
Remember when President Trump was mocked when he suggested removing statues and monuments was a slippery slope? https://t.co/Mjkwd1qbYA
— Benny (@bennyjohnson) June 21, 2020
“We have officially entered French Revolution territory. If the radical left mob takes full power the heads of statues will be replaced with the careers of those who dare counter them,” Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union, the oldest conservative lobbying organization in the country, said.
So now Teddy Roosevelt will be taken down. We have officially entered French Revolution territory. If the radical left mob takes full power the heads of statues will be replaced w the careers of those who dare counter them.
— Matt Schlapp (@mschlapp) June 21, 2020
US President Donald Trump, who earlier berated the “unhinged left wing mob” for “desecrating… our beautiful monuments,” spoke out in defense of the Roosevelt statue.
“Ridiculous, don’t do it!” he tweeted.
Ridiculous, don’t do it! https://t.co/VYez8p9AJh
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 22, 2020
Some, however, said the decision, made amid ongoing protests, was long overdue.
I can remember walking by this statue as early as middle school and thinking “Wow, how has this not been replaced?” It’s not because it’s Teddy Roosevelt it’s because…well look at it https://t.co/sZSYnGRgE1
— Benjy Sarlin (@BenjySarlin) June 21, 2020
While the majority of early ‘victims’ of the protesters’ holy war on historical monuments were Confederate generals, the crusade has recently expanded to include figures such as the 18th US president, Ulysses S. Grant, who led the northern Union soldiers in the American Civil War and helped bring an end to slavery.
The Grant statue was toppled in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Juneteenth along with that of Francis Scott Key, the lyricist behind ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’.

‘They hate America’: BLM protesters earn scorn for tearing down President Grant & national anthem lyricist statues
Both sculptures were defaced with graffiti, denouncing the men as “slave owners.” While that was true for Key, who owned multiple slaves, many netizens were baffled over the treatment of Grant. While the general did own one slave who he was given as a ‘gift’, he freed him shortly afterwards.
