I was able to watch some of Bisan's live earlier too! She spoke about how many in Gaza are seeing what is happening across university campuses and they're so happy/cheerful about everyone coming out to support Palestine and to protest Israeli war crimes and the ongoing mass genocide against Palestinian people. She emphasized for us, as a global community, to keep going -to keep protesting, to keep boycotting, and to keep making an impact -and then I saw that she posted this video, and I wanted to talk about it here too because yes -we will never stop talking about Palestine.

History of Step
What is Stepping?
What is Step?
Stepping or step dancing is “a percussive dance in which the participant’s body is used to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand-claps,” writes the African American Registry.
Step has its origins in Africa, as dancing has been a large part of traditional African culture for centuries.
Calling Step a "bizarre silent dance without music" has to be one of the wilder antiblack racist descriptions I've ever heard of stepping lmao. Anyway if you see the video, it's step!!! They're stepping!! It's a Black American form of dance!!

Every Friday, Yemenis gather by the millions to protest the genocide in Gaza. This Friday, they chose to honor college students protesting the Gaza genocide with slogans like: "Stand your ground! Yemen stands with you! For a free Palestine!"

nabi musa (prophet moses) mosque/maqām in jericho governorate, palestine. local muslim tradition holds that moses was buried here. where exactly this tradition comes from is unknown.
every year, one friday before good friday in the greek orthodox calendar, a yearly pilgrimage from jerusalem to nabi yusha takes place, after which a festival in moses's honor is held. this began in the mid-19th century, though palestinian tradition holds that its origins lay in saladin's recapture of jerusalem from crusaders in 1187. this continues to hold symbolic importance today. the structure itself was likely built by mamluk sultan baybars eight decades later.
since the 1967 occupation, the pilgrimage was prohibited for 20 years (most likely due to association with the 1920 nabi musa riots) before being permitted again. since then, it's been prohibited on and off - most recently after the second intifada in 2000, before being renewed in 2007.

do you find palestinian voices to be unbiased?
you do understand that everything the settler entity that is israel has done to us and our personal experiences with the occupation is what very much shapes our opinions and views right?

The  The Rapid Support Forces (Arabic: قوات الدعم السريع) which are attempting to seize power in Sudan took part in the  Khartoum massacre on 3 June 2019.
Feminist activists, protesters and revolutionaries were particularly targeted. Using the classic tactics of Junta patriarchy, the RSF displayed and paraded as trophies the panties of the activist women they had captured and raped. This act of public humiliation is meant to de-politicize women’s struggle and reduce them to their sexuality. To replace their flag with their underwear. They gloat over displaying the most personal, intimate, private garments of activists who had dared defy the government.

i hope that the discussion about student protests does not get reduced to "privileged rich kids faffing around at an ivy league school." setting aside that tenuous claim, over the last week, protests have erupted over the entire country. a few days ago, riot police beat, pepper-sprayed, and arrested NYU faculty shielding students; protests started at the university of southern california when the admin cancelled the valedictorian's speech; encampments appeared at the university of southern carolina, UT dallas, the university of maryland, the university of new mexico, IUPUI, virginia tech, the university of virginia, the university of illinois, the university of north carolina — chapel hill, the university of pittsburgh, uc berkeley, the university of michigan — ann arbor, MIT, emerson, tufts, the university of rochester, rice, swarthmore, the new school, vanderbilt university, with students arrested; students protested or walked out at miami university, northwestern, temple, the 5 claremont colleges: pomona, pitzer, scripps, harvey mudd, and claremont mckenna, stanford, washington university in st louis, students were arrested at ohio state, students were confronted by riot police at cal poly humboldt, after which they occupied campus, students were arrested at the university of minnesota — twin cities, after which faculty walked out; and yes, there are protests at the other ivies, most notably yale, with students facing mass arests after encampments, but there is also an encampment at brown, protests appeared at cornell, princeton faculty issued a statement of solidarity while students are preparing an encampment, and harvard banned the undergraduate palestine solidarity committee. there are thousands of students who are protesting for palestine across the entire country, facing harassment, arrest, and suspension in return
