Current challenges:
There should be inside leg panes but I'm afraid that the way I UV mapped it, I may not be able to put them in
Weights are not quite right
Don't know how to paint it to be fabric-y and beautiful 🤔
I don't have ANY Tudor or Jacobean shoes CC installed. Time to panic

3D panes (dont mind the left leg I'm going to mirror later). Possibly a waste of polys but I think it's really pleasing?
Except I had a small breakdown just trying to decide how to depict the front (button vs. buttons vs. lacing etc.) that I'm going to wait on a pattern book from the library to continue
Tumblr media
Should I attempt to make the panes actually 3D??

I just finished watching the full-length version of Charles II: The Power and the Passion and it just made me ache remembering how hungry I am for 17th century menswear CC, especially 1666-1690s menswear...

So I have three files uploaded today. First, I converted Horse Ranch facial hairs to skin details for all genders. However, I also noticed EP14BeardMustacheRW is not available for feminine frame Sims, so I quickly made a mesh for it based on the Growing Together beard. It's not perfect but fits OK without major glitches!
You can download any of the following from SimFileShare that fit your needs. They all require Horse Ranch:
EA Horse Ranch facial hairs as Skin Detail (mouth crease) for all genders
Facial Hair, EP14BeardMustacheRW for male, feminine frame Sims
Skin Detail (mouth crease) version of EP14BeardMustacheRW for feminine frame Sims of all genders

I'M DOIN IT but I don't know if it's worth the polys...
(also I'm starting an #isaax rambles tag so you can blacklist if you are just following for CC and don't want to hear my screams into the void hahaha)

Should I attempt to make the panes actually 3D??

I started making a James VI/I hat (big mistake for a total newbie mesher asdklfdjs;flds) but my nightmarish struggle to find just normal late 16th/early 17th century breeches without boots makes me think I need to attempt that next? (The legendary simverses has two but I'm starving for more options...)

ZxTa's ArisDoublet TSM De-Striped (Outfit)
I love @zx-ta's conversion of the The Sims Medieval ArisDoublet, and decided to try my hand at painting over the doublet stripes, creating a neutral base for recolors.
isaax_ZxTaArisDoubletTSM_Solids contains 24 swatches of various solid colors. isaax_ZxTaArisDoubletTSM_Patterns contains 11 swatches of hand-drawn patterns based on various early 17th century paintings. But I am the most proud to share PSDs for recolors!! Both the original plumbbob buttons and a new style of buttons are available. I hope someone out there can put it to good use!
I used Academia gradients for many of these colors.
Notably lacking damask and brocade among the patterns, as I'm not sure how best to draw those. I may offer some later!
The mesh is not included! Download: Tumblr, or direct to CurseForge.
Download recolors at SimFileShare.

Is there a Discord around here where noob CC creators are welcome to spam really dumb basic questions like "why is my specular map broken"?

Villiers Lace Piccadill (Necklace)
My very second completely-from-scratch mesh, a piccadill (wired lace collar, evolution of the ruff) based on ones worn by George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham, in several 1620s portraits.
Download at SimFileShare.
More previews and info under the cut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used some Historian gradients for creating the 8 colors included: whites with variants of painted-on shading, blacks, an off-white, gilt thread on white, and a suggestion of a gold wire supportasse showing through the lace.
It also has a small neck band painted onto the skin to help hide the seam where the piccadill meets the neck.
709 verts/619 polys, all LODs. Disabled for random.
There is both a necklace version and a right brow ring version, in case you want to try wearing it with outfits that are set to hide necklaces. However, both use the necklace texture space.
Clips with many hairs and most everything else known to man. But I made it to fit zx-ta's TSM Aristocrat Doublet conversion when the Sim isn't animating wildly, and it also fits other outfits like Admiral, simulatedstyles 16th century gown, etc. so hopefully you can find something to wear with it.
I've also uploaded a PSD so you can play with recolors if you like! Please go nuts with this and recolor, reuse, fix, chop up as you see fit. I'm so proud I've managed to make this.
You can also peruse my George Villiers folder and tag.

I updated my Villiers Goatee (fixed a missing swatch, oops, I'm so sorry! Please redownload!), created Skin Detail versions of the Villiers Goatee so that female sims can wear it, and also made an accessory to go with.
Download the Villiers Goatee at SimFileShare.
Villiers Mustache Extension (Accessory)
You can't model a facial hair to both stand away from the face and have transparency. So to get this delicate brushed up effect, I've created an accessory that fits to the Villiers facial hair (and also the Cats & Dogs mustache, which it was based on, as well as several CC facial hairs based on that mustache) and adds wisps.
104 verts/132 polys, all LODs. Your choice of Left Bracelet, Right Bracelet, or Glasses. You can mix and match colors! Dye half your mustache pink!
Download at SimFileShare: Accessories
Villiers Goatee as Skin Detail (Mouth Crease)
Converted the Villiers Goatee to a Skin Detail (Mouth Crease), too, so that Sims of all genders can wear it. This requires the original Villiers facial hair.
Download at SimFileShare: Skin Detail
You can also check my whole George Villiers folder and tumblr tag.
I've shared the piccadill he's wearing in the first screenshot here.

While I was messing around with beards in Sims 4 Studio, I realized I should convert the other EA facial hairs we've gotten to skin details for all genders.
So my Beards As Skin Details have been updated. SDX 18 and 19 facial hairs have been added to the basegame package, and High School Years and Growing Together have been added.
You can peruse the whole folder of EA Facial Hair converted to Skin Detail (Mouth Crease) on SimFileShare!

Villiers Goatee (Facial Hair)
Aaaa! My biggest project to date and I actually succeeded!!! A facial hair for male sims, both masculine and feminine frames. 🏳️‍⚧️ It's made from the Cats & Dogs and City Living facial hairs, mesh edited and joined.
471 verts / 772 polys, all LODs. EA match colors using Aveira's gradients. Disabled for random.
Download at SimFileShare.
There's also an accessory for this facial hair, and a skin detail version for all genders.
Update 2023 June 26: Fixed some errors and totally remade the fem frame because I couldn't fix the weights. The fem frame is 477 verts / 776 polys.
Update 2023 June 29: Fixed a missing hair color! Oops! Also added a thumbnail.
ETA: Buckingham's wearing this ruff by @strangestorytellersims.
You can check out my whole George Villiers folder or tumblr tag, too.

Pride Swatch for Dog Handkerchief
Happy Wrath Month!
One of those things where I’m sure someone must have already done this and much better, but I couldn’t find it so I made one. It’s an additional swatch for the Cats & Dogs dog clothing handkerchief, for both large and small dogs. The small dog’s has been very slightly mesh edited (only for this swatch, does not overwrite).

Hi! I love your cc and i was just wondering if youd make the 3d warts for other places on the face and body?
I would be willing to give it a shot! I'm sick right now so it wouldn't be soon, but if you are interested in specific other placements I could try. I'm a noob and placements off the face would require me to figure out how to import weights for other parts of the body, but I'd still attempt it!

Note
the warts look cool! niche content but definitely useful for specific sims :) I haven't done weight painting myself but I'd search the s4s forums for 'weight painting' 'weight paint values' etc - seems to be specific values you need to use that determine whether something is affected by sliders and animations or not. you could also maybe transfer weights from something that already works correctly - piercings?
Thank you!♡ I sure had a time learning to transfer weights. But I eventually got the nose side wart assigned 100% to the NoseTip bone and the eye wart assigned 100% to the R_LoLid bone.
But the nose tip wart is 100% assigned to the NoseTip bone, but doesn't deform with the detail edit mode nose tip slider. Which baffles me because... I don't think there are any more nose bones besides NoseArea, NoseTip, NoseBridge, and the nostrils??? I transferred from the Sim head mesh and the tip of the nose is just NoseArea and NoseTip. orangemittens's list also doesn't have any other bones listed that seem like they'd be right...
And actually, EA's NinjaHood, Roosterman, Rebreather etc. also clip with the detail edit mode nose tip slider, so maybe this is just an unavoidable issue?
If anyone out there has seen or made CC that successfully deforms with the detail edit mode nose tip slider, please point me at it and I'll study it!

3D Warts (Skin Detail Moles)
Made yet another extremely niche thing for that one Sim... three different 3D warts: nose tip (Skin Detail, Mole Left Cheek), left side of nose (Skin Detail, Mole Left Lip), and right lower eyelid (Skin Detail, Mole Right Cheek).
One of my first forays into messing with Blender so they’re not perfect. But they do pick up the Sim’s skin color and mostly morph/animate correctly with the face. Maybe if I ever figure out what I’m doing I’ll make improved versions!
Download at SimFileShare.
More blather and demonstration of an issue with the nose tip wart under the cut.
All three warts are 48 polys each.
The nose left side wart and the right lower eyelid wart animate and morph pretty well. But for the life of me I couldn’t get the nose tip wart to morph with the Detail Mode nose tip slider. It does morph with nose length, curve, size sliders.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If anyone wants to educate a poor noob on how to set weights(?) to have it morph correctly, I’d be in your debt! I got no idea what I’m doing here.
