Okay, so a little thought on the whole Branch welcoming his brothers back into his life?

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore the idea of his brothers apologizing and taking responsibility on the abandonment Branch felt for over 2 decades. I love them trying to be better and hugging it out and the such.

But honestly? I kind of want just ONE fic where Branch has grown without them for so long that he’s at the point where he just does not need them present in his life anymore. He, at some point, has accepted that they were never going to be there and was no longer the same trolling they left behind. You know that one Bojack Horseman audio where it goes “I said I was sorry.” “And I don’t forgive you.”? That’s what I want. Just acceptance but not forgiveness because in Branch’s mind, there’s no point in forgiving a single action that happened almost 2 decades ago.

He doesn’t care anymore. He cried his tears and grief dry years ago. Branch has no need to grieve over a brotherhood that died years ago because he’s long accepted it.

It’s not really angst on Branch’s side, if anything it’s like an author’s note to a past chapter in his life before a new one begins again. It’s just a side note. He’s carrying on and thriving again. Good for him.

But to his brothers? It’s devastating to realize that the lonely baby they left alone in an almost empty pod had grown to live and love without them to the point that they really mean nothing to him anymore.
