The Bella's house is haunted by the ghost of a girl who died there in the 80's . They have a seance. Things go very badly...
Rating: M for vivid description of violence
Words count: 3k
Trigger warning: cruent deaths, mention of blood
(I’ve been meaning to tell you)
I think your house is haunted
Beca had moved in the Bella’s house and had been living there with the other girls for just one week when she started to notice there was something weird going on in that place.
At first, she thought it might have been one of the girls – definitely Amy – who was playing tricks on her; it was just annoying silly things, really, like misplaced objects, doors that opened and closed on their own or songs that mysteriously changed to Cindy Lauper while she was listening to her Spotify playlists. All things Amy could have managed to do with little effort.
What made Beca question her believes were the events of that day she was sick and decided to stay home while all the girls went to class and then to rehearsals. She was home alone, so nobody could be pranking her, but strange things continued to happen – doubled even.
It started with her headphones; Beca could swear she’d left them on the desk, next to her computer, but when she came back from the bathroom they were gone. The brunette looked for them everywhere and finally found them in the fridge
“Mh, weird” she mumbled to herself, making her way back in her room to start working on a new mix.
Halfway through her mix, her laptop started to flash and then it showed statics
“What the fuck!? Come on you can’t die on me right now” lamented Beca hitting her laptop, she took her brand-new iPhone 5 and saw it was doing the same thing “what the hell is going on?”
She threw the phone asides and stated that she was delirious, probably due to the fever, so she decided to make herself one of Chloe’s infusions. Beca put the boiler on the stove and started looking in the cabinet for the infusion, when the home theater they had in the living room started to blast Time after Time.
“Who’s there?” she called out but didn’t get an answer. If she was honest, she’d admit she was starting to freak out a little bit.
The brunette slowly entered the living room to see that nobody was there
“That’s not funny” she called out, doing her best to hide the shake in her voice “Amy I saw you, you can come out” she tried, but again, no answer. She gulped and went to turn off the stereo, then slowly sat on the sofa to calm down, but the boiler’s whistle made her jump
“Fuck” she spat out marching to the kitchen.
Beca took a deep calming breath pouring the boiling water in her favorite mug, put the boiler away and sat down to enjoy her drink. The warm bitter liquid running down her throat was starting to relax her and free her lungs, she put down the mug and rubbed her face with both hands, when she heard the mug crashing on the floor.
Chloe opened the door and the first thing she saw was a baseball bat moving in her direction. She dodged it and saw a very startled Beca holding it
“Beca what are you doing?” she squeaked
“I- sorry I thought…” trailed off the brunette letting her weapon fall and tiredly hid her face with her palms
“Hey, what’s going on, how are you feeling?” Chloe asked removing Beca’s hands “Oh my god, Bec, you’re burning up! Let me take you to bed”
“I broke a mug” mumbled Beca while Chloe was helping her under the covers “and my phone” she added
“Your phone is working…” stated Chloe showing it to her “don’t worry for the mug, now try to get some rest” she whispered tucking a lock of brown hair away from Beca’s forehead.
Beca let out a heavy breath and briefly considered telling Chloe what she went through
“Chlo…”
“Mh?” the redhead asked turning around with a soft smile
“Thank you” mumbled the brunette before rolling on her side. “Ghosts don’t exist you’re just delirious” she told to herself before falling asleep.
 “You’re such a loser”
“You will never be one of us”
“There’s no place for cowards in here”
“Ahahahah”
It was night, the cold air was making Beca shiver. The area of porch she could see from her bedroom’s window looked different than usual and she couldn’t recognize any of the voices laughing at her. She wasn’t looking down from her window, she was standing outside the window. She was barefoot.
“Come on, we don’t have all night!”
Beca swallowed hard, her head was spinning, she slipped.
Beca woke up in her bed, damp with sweat, her – now working – phone pointed 4AM, she groaned and went back to sleep.
Weeks passed and then months, objects kept disappearing and appearing in weird places and Beca made sure to never be alone in the house again, but she never talked to anyone about what happened, she was too embarrassed about it – ghosts don’t exist.
One evening, after helping Jessica find her bracelet that ended up being in a plant near the bathroom, she decided to talk to Chloe about it.
“Hey Chlo, can we talk for a moment?” she mumbled, still uncertain about saying it out loud
“Sure, what’s up?” asked the redhead putting aside her Russian lit book
“I uhm… this might sound weir but…” she trailed off
“You know you can tell me everything, right?” assured her Chloe leaning in to grab her hand
“I – not that I believe in this kind of things, but uhm… I think there’s a ghost in the house”
Chloe’s face fell and she cleared her throat sitting back straight “Yeah, that’s Molly” she said casually, going back to her reading.
“WHAT?” gasped the brunette
“Molly” repeated Chloe “she died here in the 80’s” she explained
“You don’t actually believe she- she’s living with us, right?” stuttered Beca
“Of course, she is-”
“What are we talking about?” interrupted her Stacie
“Apparently we have a ghost” explained Cynthia-Rose who happened to hear the conversation
“Cool, a ghost story!” gasped Stacie excited “wait, I’ll call the others”
They moved in the living room after Stacie gathered all the girls and Chloe started telling the story
“In the 80’s this house was the sorority house of the θγτ. Those girls were known to be the cruelest sorority Barden had ever seen. They always made their new members prove their worth through impossible dares, like eating worms or doing dangerous things. Most times the new girls run away crying and were thrown out of the sorority, but there was this girl – Molly – who wanted to be part of the sorority more than anything. She was willing to die for it-”
“How did she die?” interrupted Beca, her throat felt tight and her heart was beating incredibly fast
“It was initiation night. They gave her a dare, a test of bravery…”
The crunching of chips coming from Amy destroyed the mood Chloe was skillfully setting with her story
“Amy, would you mind!?” lamented Cynthia-Rose
“What?” asked Amy stopping with her mouth full of chips
“We’re kinda in the middle of something here…” added Ashley
“Go on” spurred her on Stacie
Chloe cleated her throat “they told her that to be a member of the θγτ she had to walk on the ledge from side to side of the house only wearing her nightgown. They knew she was scared of heights, they probably thought she would have given up, but she tried anyway…”
“fuck…” whispered Beca, she had chills thinking about her dream
“She fell” added Chloe in a sad voice
“Do you want to contact her?” offered Lilly in her usual creepy tone
“Yes! Let’s summon a ghost” squealed Stacie
“Dude, no!” gasped Beca horrified
“What? You scared Mitchell?” challenged her the tall brunette
“I’m not scared” retorted Beca
“Come on, it’s Halloween week, it’ll be fun” tried Jessica and the girls agreed. Beca didn’t like it, she didn’t like it at all.
Lilly seemed to be rather expert on the field. She made them move the furniture and drawn a pentagram on the floor in the middle of the living room, she turned off the lights and placed five candles, one on each point of the circled star. The girls were sitting in circle around the symbol while Lilly placed herself in the center and started saying something Beca assumed to be in Latin.
Suddenly a gust of wind turned off all the candles and the room feel silent
“You girls shouldn’t be playing around with seances” Lilly said in a demoniac voice and someone, probably Jessica or Ashley – Beca wasn’t sure – screamed. Some of the girls turned on the flashlight on their phones and they could see Lilly standing up, with her hair down on her face.
“Shit, she looks just like Samara” said Amy
“You foolish girls, must pay respect to the rituals” Roared Lilly
“Fuck, is she possessed?” gasped Cynthia-Rose
“Lilly that’s the best Halloween prank I’ve ever seen” laughed Stacie “You look disgusting”
At that Lilly howled in rage turning to Stacie and showed her face, her eyes were completely white, and her body was still facing forward while her face was turned to look at the brunette. The girls screamed and moved away but Beca noticed Chloe was still on the pentagram
“Chloe what are you doing?” she shouted to her
“Molly” tried the redhead swallowing hard
The monster turned to face her and Beca grabbed Chloe’s hand to drag her away. Molly grunted and started to walk towards Stacie, in the meantime someone had turned on the lights and Beca could see that Lilly wasn’t wearing her clothes anymore, she recognized the white gown she was wearing in her dream.
Molly reached Stacie and cornered her
“Please, please not my face! Or the boobs, please-” begged the girl, but the spirit reached out to her throat and ripped her trachea out making blood splash everywhere. All the girls screamed in horror crying out Stacie’s name and the lights went out again.
The Bellas ran away in different places of the house and Beca had no idea where the others went, except for Chloe who had never let go of her hand. She had dragged her in a room and locked the door behind them, everything was dark and Beca could barely make out the silhouette of Chloe’s face.
“I can’t believe Stacie is dead” sniffed Chloe
“Yeah, that’s crazy” murmured Beca letting the redhead hug her
“I’m glad you’re her with me” she breathed out
“Me too, I can’t imagine being alone right now” confessed the brunette and Chloe pulled away from the hug
“No, I mean… I’m glad that it’s you” clarified the redhead looking into her eyes
Beca swallowed hard noticing how close they were and in the dim light she could see Chloe’s eyes looking down at her lips for a moment. It’s funny how you throw all cares to the wind when you think you’re about to die. Beca leaned in and kissed her. Chloe responded instantly pressing her against the door and slipping her tongue into Beca’s mouth. Her hands were desperatcely gripping at Beca and for a moment the brunette thought that maybe this was worth dying for.
Their kiss was interrupted by Cynthia-Rose pointing a flashlight at them
“Finally!” she cheered making them jump “we need to go to the basement, unless you have something better to do…” she added in a judgy tone
“Why to the basement?” asked Beca clearing her throat “of all places…” she added with a shiver
“To fix the lighting maybe?” retorted Cynthia-Rose
“Okay but why can’t you go?” asked Beca hissing when Chloe hit her with her elbow
“Because the black and the queer characters always die first in horror movies, and if you didn’t notice, I am black and a lesbian! So, I’m definitely not going there alone” explained the girl
“Of course we’re coming with you” agreed Chloe.
“Lock the door” intimated Beca once they entered the basement. They reached the electric cabinet and Beca pointed the light of the phone to it “you know how to do that?” she asked
“Yep”
While Cynthia-Rose was working on the cables Beca let herself get lost in the comfort of Chloe’s body pressed up against her back and the girl’s fingers intertwined with her owns. It caused a weird warm sensation, like if it didn’t matter that there was a murderous demon around the house and that they were all going to be slaughtered by it.
When the lights started working again the girls turned around to find Molly covered in Stacie’s blood standing in the middle of the room. Beca whimpered and pressed herself more into Chloe who had pretty much the same reaction, while Cynthia-Rose threw her flashlight to the monster hitting her in the face and gaining them some important seconds
“Go go go go go!” she shouted, and they started to climb the stairs.
As soon as Beca and Chloe were out of the basement door, it slammed shut behind them trapping the other girl inside. They could hear her scream and hit the door trying to open it, so they started doing the same until Beca couldn’t hear her anymore
“Chlo…” she tried, but the red head wouldn’t stop “Chlo-”
“We need to get her out of there Beca!” she cried
“Chlo, it’s too late… she’s gone” she sobbed “we have to go” she added grabbing Chloe’s hand again, but this time it wasn’t enough to calm her.
They started to run towards the door, when the couch slid between them and their target, they turned around to see Molly slowly approaching them.
“You don’t belong here” thundered Molly tilting her head “you didn’t complete the ritual”
“Yes, yes she does” gasped Chloe placing herself in front of Beca “Bree didn’t want her at first, but then she was okay with it”
“Chlo what are you doing?” whispered Beca, but the monster suddenly turned around and walked away “what the fuck?” breathed out Beca in confusion.
They saw Cynthia-Rose crawl out from the basement and ran to help her
“How are you what did she do to you?” asked Chloe helping the girl up to her feet
“Slowly, slowly, I’m injured” she gasped showing them a bleeding wound on her hip “she pushed me downstairs, I must have caught a nail or something”
“Come on, let’s take you to the bathroom, Chloe has a first aid kit” said Beca pushing the girl’s arm around her neck to help her stand.
On their way to the bathroom, they found Jessica with a tear-stained face standing next to the staircase that led to the second floor, Chloe moved to hug her and saw Ashley’s lying on the floor with her neck broken and some limbs twisted.
“Fuck” sadly whispered Cynthia-Rose rubbing her face with her palm
“Lilly was following us upstairs, Amy got away” sobbed Jessica “I couldn’t leave her”
“It’s okay, come here, it’s okay" tried to comfort her Chloe.
The group made it to Chloe’s bathroom and the redhead was trying to medicate Cynthia-Rose as best as she could
“What else did you see in horror movies?” asked Beca
“About ghosts? They’re usually here because they have unfinished business- ouch”
“Sorry" whispered Chloe
“ ‘s alright. But those were movies I don’t know- OUCH!”
“I’m done" promised Chloe getting up
“I don’t know if it applies to real ghosts” added Cynthia-Rose
“It’s all we have" huffed Beca “I need to try, and we still need to find Amy"
“I’m coming with you" said Chloe
“No, it’s too dangerous I don’t want you to get hurt”
“You’re not going alone” argued Chloe and Beca gave up
“Alright. Jessica, you stay here with CR”
Beca and Chloe started to wander around the house, looking for Molly
“Why did you think the ghost was after me?” whispered Beca
“Her name is Molly” corrected her Chloe “and I don’t know…” she trailed off
“You mentioned Aubrey, did she tell the ghost- Molly, to haunt me or something?” suggested Beca
“What? No" gasped the redhead “I just assumed because she’s been here the whole time I was in this house, but since when you moved in, she seemed to be… more nervous” she explained
“I had a dream about her" confessed Beca “I mean I was her. In the dream. The night she died… I think she just wants to be accepted"
They heard a loud noise and suddenly stopped swallowing hard
“we should check that” said Chloe in a tiny voice
“I hope it’s Amy" huffed Beca nodding
As it turned out it was Amy, but she’d just been thrown against the wall by Molly.
“Amy” shouted Beca without thinking, letting the ghost know they were there
“Beca, finally! Save me, I’m too important to die" screamed Amy trying to free herself, but the monster shoved a hand in her chest ripping her guts out.
“No!” cried Beca “stop it, what do you want from us?” she shouted at the ghost
Molly let Amy’s body fall to the ground and started to walk towards them again.
“You did not respect the ritual" she kept saying, the lights were flashing like crazy and there was wind coming out of nowere
Beca took a step forward “what ritual? What are you talking about?”
Molly pushed her asides and took Chloe by the throat. The redhead gasped trying to free herself from the bloody hand chocking her, but it was pointless
“You must complete the ritual!”
“I’ll do it! I’ll do your ritual” volunteered Beca
Molly instantly let go of Chloe and turned to the brunette
“Bec no" begged Chloe trying to catch her breath
“You are a Bella now!” she declared, confusing both Chloe and the ghost
“I, as co-captain of the Bellas, declare that you have passed the test and are a Bella. You’re one of us" she gulped, her heart was beating so fast it was hard to breathe, like if she’d run a marathon. Chloe had reached her and was standing beside her
“And I, as the other co-captain, approve that" confirmed the redhead.
“Thank you" whispered Molly.
Suddenly the lights stopped flashing and everything seemed to be back to normal. Lilly’s body fell to the ground with a thud and Chloe immediately moved to go check on her but Beca stopped her
“What if she’s faking it?” questioned the brunette
“Why would she fake it?” pointed out Chloe and went to kneel down besides Lilly.
“Is she…” asked Beca
“She’s breathing” assured Chloe relieved
“We should call the police” suggested Jessica once her and Cynthia-Rose joined them.
The police was still taking their depositions and Lilly was taken away with an ambulance, it was clear that the girls couldn’t have been killed by a person, but the policeman refused to believe their ghost story and kept asking them if they’d taken any drugs or were drunk. He kept bringing up an animal attack, almost like if he was trying to convince them.
Chloe went to sit on the porch next to Beca, both wrapped in those panic blankets they’d only saw in movies before that night.
“You saved my life" she stated humping her with the shoulder
“Well, you tried that first” answered Beca looking down at her feet “I noticed you stepping in front of me"
“Yes, but it turned out she was never after you… she just wanted the head of the sorority to accept her"
“If I only figured that out earlier Amy would still be alive, maybe Ashley too" sniffed Beca
“Hey, look at me” told her Chloe reaching out to gently tilt Beca’s face towards her “it’s not your fault, okay? If anything you saved the rest of us. If it wasn’t for you I…” she trailed off shivering at the memory of that cold hand around her throat
“I’m glad you’re okay" whispered Beca with teary eyes before leaning in to kiss her.

Bechloe Week 2020 – Day 8: Wedding
The Wedding
Nate’s wedding day is finally arrived! Beca and Chloe's morning after and some unsolved family business.
I'm sorry if this is ridiculous 🙈
Rating: M
Words Count: 1.5K
Read here or on AO3
Beca always loved waking up into Chloe’s arms; the warmth of the redhead’s body pressed against hers and the sweet scent of her skin surrounding her. Beca usually let herself indulge in it, until it became too much and had to move away and be her grumpy self, pretending to hate being touched. This time was different though; this time their naked bodies were intertwined together and Beca didn’t have to pretend. She didn’t have to protect her secret, Chloe knew Beca loved her and Beca knew that Chloe felt the same. So Beca pushed her face further into Chloe, inhaling deeply. Chloe let out a soft hum and tightened her arms around the brunette’s middle.
Beca smiled into Chloe’s skin and blindly started to pepper lazy kisses on her Chest and neck, the memories of their night together giving her a sense of calm. Chloe’s nails lightly scratched at her back making her shiver and push her head back. The redhead took the opportunity to place a soft, lingering kiss on her lips
“Good morning” mumbled Chloe against Beca’s lips
“Morning” smiled Beca finally opening her eyes to see Chloe looking at her with a fond smile
“You’re so cute” whispered Chloe brushing a lock of hair away from Beca’s forehead, and the brunette let out a strangled growl hiding her face into Chloe’s neck again. The redhead giggled and gently kissed her temple “I wish I could lay here with you all day”
“What time is it?” huffed Beca, knowing very well that they had to get up and start getting ready for the wedding
“it’s...” grunted Chloe reaching for her phone on the nightstand next to Beca, hovering over her “oh, sorry” she said when she noticed she’d literally pushed her breasts in Beca’s face
“Oh, I don’t mind” smirked Beca, moving her hands on Chloe’s side, at the height of her ribcage, to keep her there. Chloe chuckled and stared at her biting her bottom lip as she was considering something
“We have to get up though” she sighed “it’s almost half past eight”. Beca groaned at that but let go of Chloe to let her move away from her body. She kept her eyes on Chloe as the girl stood up.
Beca felt every inch of her body catching fire while her eyes traced every curve of Chloe’s naked body, her toned abs and perfect legs, but what turned Beca on the most was the lust she could see in Chloe’s eyes and the girl’s smirk when she noticed Beca staring at her
“Come shower with me” she offered with a hypnotizing look to which Beca could have never said ‘no’ to.
It turned out to be the best shower of Beca’s life. It begun with Chloe pushing her against the shower’s wall and getting on her knees, she brought Beca’s right leg over her shoulder to open her wider and buried her face between Beca’s legs. After making her come, she rose to her feet and started to spread soap all over Beca’s body, making her turn to face the wall. She started rubbing her back and hips, going down to squeeze her ass, before moving around her body, to pay attention to her front. The redhead pushed herself against Beca’s back while massaging her breasts. Beca rested her forehead on the wall before her when she felt Chloe’s hand traveling down her body to reach her center. The redhead took Beca’s left arm and pushed it against the wall, while bending her slightly further, Beca did the same thing with her other arm to brace herself and Chloe pressed their bodies together and started to trace slow circles on Beca’s clit, while gently nibbling her ear. Chloe made Beca come two more times before even allowing her to touch her.
The ceremony was on the beach and the bride was barefoot under her long, cream dress that was shorter on the front – almost too short, for Mrs. Beale’s likes – while Nate was wearing black converse under a white tuxedo. The unconventionality of their clothes was far from being what upset Chloe’s parents the most that day.
During his vows, Nate talk about how he was so lucky to marry his best friend and Beca felt her throat tightening, she slipped her hand into Chloe’s and leaned in to kiss her cheek, but she noticed it was wettened by tears
“Hey” she whispered, having to clear her throat “are you okay?” she asked worried while whipping tears away from Chloe’s face. Chloe nodded trying her best to hold her sobs
“I just-” she squealed “I just love you so much” she breathed out in a way lower tone, but a loud sniff escaped her. Beca dragged Chloe’s face towards hers and kissed her deeply, hushing a sweet “I love you, too” when they parted.
They must have missed the rest of the vows, because now Nate was lifting his bride to be in the air, and they were sharing a not-T rated kiss in the general disapproval of both of their family and the whistles of their friends. The priest had to divide them and remind them they weren’t married yet. Beca chuckled shaking her head.
After the ceremony, Chloe’s mom approached them, she seemed very upset, frustrated even. Chloe swallowed hard, bracing herself
“Why do you have to always make everything about yourself?” she spat out
“What? I-”
“I noticed, you know? During the vows you were trying to draw attention so that everyone could see your inappropriate kiss”
“Our kiss was inappropriate!?” spat out Beca incredulous
“Becs” shushed her Chloe, but Beca was furious
“No, Chloe. It’s obvious that she’s just trying to take out on you her rage because God forbid her perfect son did something that upset her”
“Beca, please” begged her the redhead, literally holding her back by the arm
“Hello guests, can you all come around here” asked Nate, speaking through a microphone “specially my mother, who is as always tormenting my poor sister. Mother please get off her case” he chuckled, but it was clear how serious he was
“Nate, son. You’re drunk, give me that” begged his father
“No father, I am very sober, and I’ve been waiting this moment for so long” he said “finally, there’s nothing you can take away from me. I had to wait this day to tell you to go fuck yourself because I was afraid that you would have somehow stopped my wedding” he paused looking at Serena, who was looking at him with a proud smile on her lips “but now we’re married and I can finally tell you, that you both have made my life a fucking nightmare”
Chloe was looking at him in shock, dropped jaw and widened eyes. She’d never considered the pressure he was under; she only noticed the praises he got, the ones she could never have.
“If it wasn’t for Chloe, and then Serena, I don’t know how I would have survived. So, since this is a speech of thanks, I want to thank my sister, for being always there for me and for suffering through this week with you, just to attend my wedding, thank you baby sister, I love you” he ended looking at Chloe before literally dropping the mic and accepting Serena’s hug before shouting “let’s go swimming!”
Beca and Chloe reached Nate who was undressing, and Chloe hugged him tightly “I love you, too” she squealed
“nice speech, dude” praised Beca gently punching his arm, a little embarrassed by the abs showing through his open shirt, but then the sight of Chloe slipping out of her dress made Beca’s mouth go dry
“Come on Becs, swim with me” offered the redhead biting her lip
Beca never thought she would add ‘bathed in the ocean in underwear’ to the list of things she’d done, but by now she was used to the idea that Chloe could make her do just about anything.
It took Chloe five whole minutes to get bored and decide to make Beca add something else to her list
“I want you” she whispered to Beca’s hear, making her choke on hair
“We are in public” hissed the brunette looking at her with wide eyes
“I miss your fingers” teased Chloe “I want them inside of me” she added before swimming away from Beca
“Beca” called out Chloe, almost like an order, and Beca struggled to reach her. When they were – according to Chloe – far enough from the group, the redhead wrapped her arms around Beca’s neck and her legs around her middle, pressing her pussy against Beca’s pelvis, waiting for Beca to give her what she wanted.
Beca licked her lips looking into Chloe’s eyes, her hands were already making their way around the girl’s ass, squeezing it gently and making Chloe hiss “be quiet” ordered the brunette, letting her fingertips slide beneath Chloe’s costume
“uh-uh” promised Chloe closing her eyes and bending her hear to rest on Beca’s shoulder, just for it to shot back up when her back arched as Beca slipped two slender fingers inside of her.

Bechloe Week 2020 – Day 5: Fake Dating
You put me on and said I was your favorite
Set in Barden years. Chloe brings Beca to her brother’s wedding as her (fake) date and things escalate pretty quickly.
(Part 2/3 of Fake Dating)
p.s. sorry for stealing some characters from Gossip Girl...
Rating: E
Words Count: 4.3K
Read here or on AO3
“Why didn’t you tell Nate we’re faking” asked Beca while the two girls were getting down the bus
“I don’t want to force him to lie for me” explained Chloe “oh look he’s here”
Beca fondly looked at Chloe drop her luggage on the ground and run to hug her brother, who lifted her from the floor and spun her around. She slowly approached them pulling both hers and Chloe’s baggage behind her
“So, who’s this lucky plus one? Why didn’t you tell me about them?” she heard Nate ask
“Hello” she said shyly
“Beca?” he gasped “you- Chlo why didn’t you tell me about this?” he questioned looking both happy and surprised. Chloe babbled something trying to shut him up, but it didn’t work, he was too excited about the news “I’m so happy you two finally got together. Chloe is so in love with you, Beca! She never shuts up about you” he laughed
Chloe forced out a weird laugh and pushed her bag basically in his face “why don’t we go now? We don’t wanna be late” she retorted before turning to Beca “he only said that to be nice” she told Beca, clearly embarrassed.
When they got to the hotel, Serena – a tall, blonde (incredibly beautiful) woman – greeted them giving them both two cosmopolitan and a hug. Beca hated hugging strangers, but she guessed it was part of the deal.
“Chlo, this is the key of your room, so you can go leave your stuff and refresh before dinner. Oh, and drink up, I need you to get to my level, babe” she winked smacking Chloe’s ass. They seemed to be pretty close even if Chloe only ever referenced to her as Nate’s girlfriend when talking about her with Beca.
“You and Serena are pretty close huh?” casually asked Beca while they were unpacking their bags
“Yeah, her and Nate have been together since forever – king and queen of prom when they were seniors – she’s like a sister to me” answered the redhead with a smile
“Mh”
“What?” laughed Chloe
“Nothing, I mean it’s not like I’ve smacked your brother’s ass” mumbled Beca
“Aww baby, are you jealous?” beamed Chloe stopping her unpacking to get closer to Beca
“I’m not jealous… it’s just that- I thought it was rude to act like that in front of your girlfriend” spat out Beca already cursing that one cosmopolitan that was already letting her tongue loose
“Possessive much…” stated Chloe raising and eyebrow, but she had the hint of an amused smile on her lips
“Whatever, I’m gonna hit the shower or we will be late” dismissed Beca locking herself in the bathroom
“How’s the bed?” asked Chloe, throwing herself onto it and startling Beca
“Dude!” she gasped rolling on her side to give some space to the redhead “get dressed, they’re waiting for us” she scooted her. Beca was used to have a half naked Chloe around; nudity was never an issue to the redhead, but every time the girl got to close to her – like she did now, wearing nothing but a robe – Beca became incredibly flustered.
Chloe groaned rolling on her side, the fluffy white material slightly shifting to show more of her skin, and Beca had to turn her head to look at literally anything else; she felt that it was disrespectful to look, even if Chloe didn’t mind, she just couldn’t. Maybe it was the fact that she wanted it so badly, to make her think it was something forbidden, something wrong; the fact that she wouldn’t just see her half naked, but that she would actually look at her, in a non-platonic way, one you shouldn’t really look at your friends.
Chloe had rolled on her stomach and was keeping her upper body up on her elbows “so, girlfriend, are you ready to meet my family?” she joked poking Beca’s side. The brunette took a deep breath before turning to look at Chloe and, as she feared, her stare fell down the girl’s exposed cleavage and she cursed herself
“Can you please put something on” she begged, forcing her eyes to look up at Chloe’s face. The smug amused smirk of the redhead made Beca’s stomach twist; she wasn’t sure if se wanted to kiss it or punch it away, all she knew was it was incredibly sexy, and infuriating and she needed it gone
“It’s so funny how embarrassed you get” teased the redhead getting up
“Shut up”
In response Chloe let the robe slip down her body and walked to the closet completely naked
“Oh, for fuck’s sake” cursed Beca under her breath getting up and turning towards the door
“Why are you so uncomfortable with nudity?” innocently asked Chloe giggling, but Beca ignored the question
“I’ll wait for you outside”.
“When the elevator started going down, Chloe turned to look deeply in Beca’s eyes “are you sure about this? Last chance to bail out” she said worrying her bottom lip. She wore a pastel blue dress opened on the back, that reached her ankles and black heeled sandals that matched her handbag. Beca was wearing a pantsuit – picked by Chloe – with a lacey top and high heels.
“I’m all in” assured Beca offering her a smile and her hand to take. The ding of the elevator informed them they reached the floor, Chloe smiled and laced her fingers with Beca’s before stepping out of the platform.
Beca could feel Chloe’s body go rigid as soon as they set foot inside the dining room, so she squeezed her hand. Chloe squeezed her hand back.
“Chloe, honey, come here, give me a hug” Beca heard from across the room and felt Chloe’s hand slip from hers. A blonde, thin woman with icy eyes approached them and wrapped Chloe into a flash hug – Chloe had hugged her for longer after not seeing her for one weekend – before looking at her with furrowed brows “Who’s your friend? I thought you’d bring your boyfriend”
Chloe cleared her throat looking at her feet for a moment and Beca intertwined their fingers again and took a step forward “she’s Beca, my girlfriend” informed Cloe with a smile. Her mother rolled her eyes at that
“You’re still keeping up with this thing?” she asked in condescension, making Beca want to fight her.
In that moment a man with white hair and blue eyes appeared next to Chloe’s mom, coldly greeting the redhead, who responded with a hushed “hi dad” and a half smile
“Hi, I’m Beca, Chloe’s girlfriend” introduced herself the brunette, doing her best to offer a polite smile to the couple of assholes in front of them. She liked the way it rolled on her tongue – Chloe’s girlfriend – she liked it a lot.
“Mh” grunted the man “I see, so you’re still…” he trailed off, almost disgusted.
“Are you trying to ruin your brother’s celebrations?” asked her mother outraged
“I-” started Chloe mortified, but Nate jumped in ending the conversation
“Hey, let’s go sit down starters are coming” he announced
“Are you okay?” asked Beca worried
“Yeah, all good” lied Chloe taking a seat at Nate’s table. Her dimmed eyes were so odd to Beca; Chloe was the most radiant person she knew, she was a literal sunshine – her personal sunshine – she thought, and seeing her like that deeply hurt Beca.
Before the dessert, it was tossing time. The maid of honor and best man’s toasts were pretty funny and Beca noticed Chloe’s expression soften a bit at the anecdotes about Nate, but when it was Mr. Beale’s turn Beca felt like murdering him right there. As if his stupid speech about how proud he was of Nate – for all the wrong reasons –  he decided to end it in the worst way possible “…Serena, we knew you would have been part of this family since the start, but now I can finally tell you, you are the daughter I always wished I had.”
Serena forced herself to keep her smile on place until the man stopped smiling at her and then leaned towards Nate to whisper something to him, who had a stern look on his face and was slowly shaking his head.
Beca’s focus was completely on Chloe, who was downing the remains of her champagne glass with watery eyes, so she didn’t notice the couple approach them.
“Hey you” cheered Serena lowering herself to their level, her hands affectionally placed on Chloe’s shoulders “I want you to meet my friends”
“I’m sorry for the toast” Beca heard Serena whisper to Chloe
“Don’t worry about that, it’s not your fault” told her Chloe with a bitter smile
“If he only knew…” laughed Nate “do you remember when we had that pregnancy scare at sixteen because you forgot to take the pill” he added putting his arm around his fiancé
“Well, I did take a pill, but it was the wrong one” she laughed “Not to talk about all the people I slept with in college”
“Yeah, that’s something I don’t want to talk about either” laughed Nate lightly jabbing her side. He noticed the confused look on Beca’s face, so he explained “We broke up after high school, Harvard-Yale relationship wasn’t working, but she agreed to pretend she was still my girlfriend at family events because my parents loved her”
“And then we stopped pretending because we still loved each other” she added “the thing with your parents is that you have to make them believe that you are as they want you to be, baby” she sweetly explained to Chloe, who looked at her hand, always laced with Beca’s
“Yeah, I know… it’s just that I’ve never been good at pretending to be someone I’m not” she sadly stated briefly looking into Beca’s eyes taking her breath away. The were faking it though, right? They weren’t together, Chloe was just pretending to be in love with her.
After the dessert Chloe was introducing Beca to some old aunt, when her father approached them “Nate thinks my toast was disrespectful” he said, almost like he expected Chloe to tell him it was okay
“You only said what you thought…” breathed out Chloe
“I mean, it was a bit rude” jumped in Beca, fire still spiking through her veins from the rage she’d felt
Mr. Beale raised an outraged eyebrow at her, but then decided to ignore her and address Chloe again
“You know Chloe, you should grow up” he said “The only reason we went along with this” he gestured at them “when you were in high school, was because we thought it was a phase” Beca frowned at his words “If you wanted to be an independent woman” he carried on with disdain “you should have taken the path I had set for you, but since you’re good-for-nothing, you should start to look for a man who could provide for you, you won’t look that pretty forever” he stated and turned to leave
“You know, Mr. Beale, your daughter is the best person I know; she’s kind and selfless and has the biggest heart I’ve ever met. She would always go out of her way to help others and she’s sweet and funny, she’s always so cheerful and radiant that her presence makes my life better…” she trailed off clearing her throat “if you’re not proud of her, then you’re the problem. If you can’t see how wonderful she is, then there’s something wrong with you and I honestly feel sorry because you’re missing out” she spat out, making some guests – and the hosts – turn to look at them.
Chloe’s father looked at her with a horrified expression, he opened his mouth to reply, but then closed it and decided to just leave. Beca turned to Chloe to apologize but the redhead launched herself at her and hugged her tight, whispering “thank you, I love you” in her neck
“I love you, too, Chlo” she said back, wrapping her arms protectively around the redhead.
“I can’t believe you had the guts to face that asshole of my father” praised her Nate. He had insisted that they joined him for the after party, even id Chloe had told him they were tired from the travel and Beca had supported her.
“Yeah, honestly I don’t really know what happened to me” she laughed scratching the back of her head
“It happened that you’re my knight in a shining armor and you had to defend me” giggled Chloe snuggling closer to her; she was two drinks in and she was starting to be even more touchy than usual, normally Beca would have pushed her back, not because it bothered her, but because she liked it way too much and started to get uncomfortable, most of all because – even if she wasn’t drunk – this behavior was partially caused by the alcohol.
But right now, they were pretending to be together, they were supposed to be touchy and snuggly; considering that Nate and Serena didn’t take their hands off of each other since the night started, and the blonde was sitting on his lap, Beca thought that they should have stepped up their display of affections too. She wrapped her arm around Chloe, tugging her in closer to herself on the bench they were sharing
“maybe my love for you gave me the courage to face him” she said looking into Chloe’s eyes, hoping that her cheeks would remain of their natural color. Suddenly Chloe leaned in and gently kissed her, even if she was tipsy, Beca noticed her hesitate for a moment after the initial pec, to give the brunette the opportunity to pull away from her, but Beca pushed her face forward to properly kiss her.
Beca never imagined their first kiss to be like this, she thought they’d talked some more before or that she would have some kind of warning, and she most definitely didn’t expect for Chloe to be half drunk for it. But Chloe’s tongue was lapping inside of her mouth and the girl’s fingers where tangling in her hair, so Beca decided to lose herself in the kiss and shut her brain off.
“How long have you guys been together?” asked Serena when they parted
“Huh?” hummed Beca trying to take time, she didn’t remember them talking about it, she knew they needed a damn backstory
“Looks like it still feels like the first time when you kiss, it’s sweet” she explained with a smile
“Yeah, look who’s talking” spat out Chloe, making everybody laugh
“How are you? You should drink some water” stated Beca one they got back to their room
“I like it when you take care of me” mumbled Chloe accepting an untapped bottle Beca was offering her
“You know it wouldn’t be fun to go at brunch tomorrow with a hungover girlfriend” joked Beca
“Mh. Or maybe you do it because you love me” smirked Chloe
“Go brush your teeth” dismissed her Beca
“Can I hug you?” asked Chloe once they were both in bed
“Yeah” conceded Beca moving her arm to welcome Chloe against her side
“Thank you Becs, for everything” whispered the redhead before falling asleep
Beca fell asleep thinking about the kiss they shared, the way Chloe’s lips moved against hers and how good her hands felt against her scalp. About the shiver that run down her spine when Chloe softly hummed into her mouth and the soft smile on the redhead’s lips when Beca kept placing some soft pecs on her mouth before parting completely. She couldn’t wait for their next kiss.
“Chlo, how long have we been together?” called out Beca from the bathroom while brushing her teeth
“I kissed you backstage after we won the finals” winked the redhead appearing in the mirror next to Beca.
After brunch, they were in the garden talking to a sweet short woman with red hair turning to grey – Aunt Margaret – who was telling them how nice they looked together, she was Chloe’s favorite aunt “You are a sweet little angel, Beca. I’m glad my baby girl finally found someone who really loves her”
“If you really love each other why don’t you kiss” shouted a grumpy kid, almost mad at them
“Nicholas, apologize to your cousin, that’s not a nice behavior” scolded him Margaret
“They are lying, girls only fall in love with boys” he spat out
“Look dude, I’m sorry to break it to you like this” started Beca bending towards him “but we are in love and we don’t have to prove it to y-”
“I don’ believe you!” she screamed to her face
“Okay, I’m taking him away, sorry sweethearts”
The two girls went to sit cuddling under a tree “wow your cousin is really something, huh” laughed Beca
“Do you think we’re not convincing enough?” asked Chloe worried
“What? Dude, we’re literally cuddling under a tree, what’s more romantic than this?” asked Beca smiling fondly at her while tucking a lock of red hair behind Chloe’s ear. Their actions definitely didn’t match their conversation. “Hey, listen, he’s looking at us right now- no, don’t turn. What do you say, should we show him a kiss?” asked Beca with a smile
“are you serious?” asked the redhead lighting up when Beca nodded to her “okay, let’s keep it pg though, or my parents will banish us from the wedding” he giggled
“I’ll see what I can do” joked Beca leaning in
The kiss was short and way more chaste than the one they shared the night before, but Beca loved it just the same.
“And how did you two fell in love?” asked Astrid, they were sitting on a table talking to some family members Beca had already forgot the names of. Margaret was there too, nobody was rude to Chloe when she was there – Beca liked her – they were under assault, but all the questions were lovely, or at least polite
“Well… I think the right question is how didn’t everybody else” laughed Beca, cringing at the how cheesy she sounded, but she couldn’t help it; with Chloe believing she was acting, she was finally free to confess all her feelings for the redhead, and it felt so fucking good “I mean, constantly being with her it was inevitable, really”
“To me it was love at first sight” said Chloe “I saw her walking around the activities fair and I lost my mind. I knew we had a connection before she’d even talked to me” she added squeezing Beca’s hand fondly “then we sang together for the first time, and I knew my heart belonged to her” she confessed, looking right into Beca’s eyes
“Aw you two are so cute” cried Sharon – or Shana – Beca wasn’t sure, she was still looking into Chloe’s ocean eyes
“You know what else is cute? Those baby farm animals…” babbled Beca, not making much sense. Chloe’s smile fell
“I am sorry I jest remembered we had a surprise for Nate, I should go get it. Becs can you come help me please”
“Yes, sure” shot back Beca jumping on her feet.
“What’s wrong? Did I say someth-”
“I can’t do this anymore Chlo” blurred out Beca and saw the utter panic on Chloe’s face “I- no sorry, it came out wrong” she quickly clarified “I said I was gonna do it and I will, I’m staying until the end, no matter what’s your answer, but I need to ask you” she took a deep breath “do you have feelings for me or are you just really good at faking it?” she breathed out
Chloe’s eyes filled with tears “I haven’t faked for a single second” she whispered “I’m sorry for not telling you I didn’t mean t-”
Beca interrupted her by crushing their lips together in a desperate kiss. Chloe quickly took charge of it and pushed Beca up against the door of the bathroom they locked themselves in. Wandering hands found their way under baca’s top, making her moan softly against Chloe’s lips. The redhead started to kiss Beca’s neck and lightly suck at her skin, careful not to leave any marks.
Beca felt like if someone set her on fire and all she could focus on were Chloe’s hands and lips moving over her body.  When the tip of Chloe’s fingers started to pull Beca’s light dress up – this time it was Chloe’s turn to wear a pantsuit – they heard a knock on the door. “Fuck” breathed out Beca, when Chloe’s hands disappeared from her trembling thighs.
“One sec” called out Chloe rushing to fix Beca’s hair
“Chlo, I just wanted to tell you that it’s kinda obvious what you’re doing in there” hushed Nate from the other side of the door
“Shit” whispered Chloe turning red
“At least they’re convinced now” joked Beca with a smirk
“Shut up!” laughed Chloe
“Chloe you can come out now, there’s no one here” informed them Nate, so Chloe opened the door and they stepped away from the bathroom
“Who do you think heard us?” asked Beca
“I don’t know, nobody was here when I passed by and heard you were having fun” he smirked “I thought that living with other people you’d learned how to sneak around”
The day felt incredibly long; Beca felt incredibly uncomfortable in her ruined underwear and Chloe didn’t make things easy for her, suddenly slipping her hand under the hem of her dress to gently caress her thigh while Beca was talking with some random family member. The worst thing was that she did it with the most innocent face and it was driving Beca completely nuts.
When they finally got in their room Beca was about to explode. Chloe slowly locked the door behind her and started walking towards Beca, who was already sitting on their bed. Chloe fitted perfectly between Beca’s legs, her hands loosely cupping Beca’s jawline while she was looking up at her. She bent down to place a sweet kiss on the brunette’s awaiting lips before whispering “are you sure about this?”
Beca put her hands on Chloe’s hips and pulled her closer “I’ve never been so sure of anything” she assured.
Chloe gently pushed her back, starting to crawl on the bed with her, until Beca’s head was resting on the pillow and Chloe’s knee was pressing between her thigs. They started making out and Beca was desperately trying to take Chloe’s clothes off
“I thought, you didn’t like nudity” she giggled making Beca growl and mumble something that sounded like a shut up. The redhead decided to give in, because she was just as desperate as Beca was, and started undressing herself. When Beca tried to do the same she stopped her “no wait, I want to take that off too, if it’s okay for you” she asked and Beca nodded.
Once Chloe was in her underwear, she moved to kneel between Beca’s opened legs, hands on both of her thighs. She started to push the dress up, eyes dark and hungry traced every inch of pale skin that was revealed, until she tossed the dress away and lay on top of the brunette to kiss her again.
“You are so hot” mumbled Chloe against Beca’s mouth
Beca just hummed at that and let her hands go to all the places she’d always felt guilty about staring; now that Chloe was grinding down on top of her and grunting or panting, almost moaning, depending on where Beca’s fingers touched her, it didn’t feel wrong anymore, Beca felt like nothing in her life was ever so right. She unlocked Chloe’s bra and helped the girl get rid of it, before gently pushing her up to kiss and lick at her breasts
“Beca” moaned Chloe when the brunette sucked a nipple into her mouth. Chloe’s right hand was in Beca’s hair, while she used the other to support her body “God, I love you so much”
Beca immediately stopped to look at her face “say it again” she begged
“I love you” whispered Chloe “so fucking much” she added with a smile
“I love you, too” breathed Beca before kissing her hard.
They quickly got rid of their remaining clothes and Chloe pushed a leg up against Beca’s center, making her hiss, and lowered herself onto Beca’s one, after the girl had bent it up for her. Chloe started to ride both of their orgasms, tension building up when Beca picked up the peace Chloe was setting. It didn’t take long for Beca to come undone, with Chloe’s thigh deliciously sliding against her clit and the girl’s wet cunt rubbing against her thigh. Beca’s moans, and her body’s reaction sent Chloe over the edge too. The redhead started to lazily place sloppy kisses on Beca’s mouth and slid two fingers between her folds, just to bring them to her lips and make a show of sucking on them, making Beca moan at the sight.
“I need to taste more of you” she said, before going down between her legs and start eating her out.
Chloe’s tongue between her thigs felt better than anything Beca had ever felt. Her body arced off the bed, to push harder against Chloe’s face, who was eating her pussy like if it was her favorite food. The second orgasm hit Beca even harder than the first one and once she’d ridden it out, she had to stop Chloe by pulling her head up, because she didn’t seem to have any intention to stop there.
“You hungry huh?” cockily breathed out Beca with a smirk
“Been waiting to do this for a while” confessed Chloe digging her teeth into her bottom lip, Beca grabbed her and kissed her again, tasting her own cum on the redhead’s lips and tongue.
They made love again and again, until they fell asleep into each other’s arms – and between each other’s legs.

“What would you want to do me a favor?” asked Chloe with a childish smile on her face
“Depends on the favor” replied Beca nonchalantly
“I need you to be my date”
Beca looked away from her laptop and blinked at Chloe “are… are you asking me out?” she stuttered, her shocked expression make Chloe giggle
“Not for real” she explained, unknowingly crushing Beca’s heart “I need a date for Nate’s wedding, so my family won’t get on my case for not having a partner” – Nate was Chloe’s older brother, Beca had met him once, he seemed nice and they were very close.
“Wouldn’t it be better to bring a dude?” she asked, still a little shocked
“They know I like girls too, Beca” frowned Chloe
“yes, I know, but they’re not particularly happy about that” argued the brunette raising her eyebrows
“Just one more reason to bring a girlfriend” winked Chloe.
Beca knew Chloe didn’t have the best relationship with her parents; they’d always made her feel out of place, inadequate, not worth of their name. Her father was an important lawyer and her mother was one of those annoying heiresses, who did nothing other than organize fundraises and boring events. All they cared about was appearances. Nate was three years older than Chloe; he was blonde – like their parents – tall and handsome, captain of the lacrosse team – all the girls in high school were at his feet – and first of his class.
Nate was the perfect son who always makes his parents proud. Chloe, on the other hand, wasn’t so keen to please them, she followed her heart; she wasn’t top of her class – not that she were terrible either – was part of the glee club, instead of the debate one, as her father had wanted, and preferred to hang out with the outcasts instead of those snob popular girls her mother always insisted should have been her friend, since they were the daughters of her friends and belonged – like them – to the high society.
That’s why Chloe’s parents threated her like the black seep of the family. They made her feel so insecure that she used to think there was something wrong with her, to the point that she used to dye blonde her beautiful red hair, just to look more like them.
Nate was the only one who made her feel loved; he always took her side against their parents and find the time to listen to her when she needed him. He was the first one she talked about her doubts towards her sexuality and then the first one she came out to and he reassured her that it didn’t change anything about her and that he would always love her, no matter what. Chloe remembers him picking a ferocious fight with his father when he was trying to force Chloe back in the closet when she finally came out to their parents too, worrying that, even if it wasn’t an issue to them, other people might have treat their family differently knowing about Chloe’s tendencies.
However, Nate got into Harvard – to follow his father’s steps – when Chloe was still in her sophomore year, leaving her alone to deal with her parents, who always told her how much they wished she could be more like her brother. When she didn’t get into Harvard, they treated her like a failure and, even if they didn’t really disown her, it was a mutual silent accord that their interaction would have reduced to the bare minimum once se would have gone to Barden.
Chloe opened up with Beca about this last summer, when the brunette asked her why she never went home for the holidays and Chloe told her that, even if she was really confident and proud of who she was now, going home always brought back those old feelings and insecurities.
Beca knew that Chloe was asking her because, more than a date to save face, she needed a friend to support her, but she really didn’t think that pretending to be the girlfriend of the girl she was desperately in love with was the best idea.
“I can ask Stacie, if you don’t wanna come” huffed Chloe and something inside of Beca snapped. Her stomach knotted with jealousy, if anyone was going to pretend to be Chloe’s girlfriend in front of her whole family, that was gonna be her and certainly not Stacie.
“Okay, I’ll do it” she spat out “but you owe me, big times”
“You’re the best!” squealed Chloe hugging her “we need to set some rules” she added
“Rules? What rules?”  asked Beca in confusion
“Rules like, how do we act with each other, set some boundaries and safe word”
“A safe word” repeated Beca
“Yes, something you can say if you get uncomfortable and need to take a break” explained the redhead “I know my family can be a lot, you probably will need it” she added in a sad tone
“I’m gonna be fine” assured Beca offering her a gentle but sure smile “I think we would rather need a backstory, like how we met, who asked whom out… stuff like that”
“We can use our story, I think it works… and obviously, I’m the one who asked you out”
“Hey!” lamented Beca offended “what do you mean obviously? I could have asked you out too”
All it took for Beca to stop complaining was Chloe raising a questioning eyebrow and Beca awareness that, in fact, she didn’t ask Chloe out, despite her huge crush on the redhead.
“Back to the safe word, it should be something you wouldn’t normally say in a sentence but that you can manage fitting into a dialog-”
“Like I love you?” interrupted her Beca, making Chloe glare at her
 “What about… baby farm animals?”
“Baby farm animals?” gulped Beca “how am I supposed to use that in a sentence?” she complained
They moved the conversation in Chloe’s room, so that they could talk freely without being disturbed by any Bella.
“We should talk boundaries; as you know, I am a pretty expansive person, and my family knows that too, so it would make sense if my girlfriend was too, but I want to make sure you’re okay with some things…” started Chloe; they were sitting on her bed one in front of the other, knees almost touching.
“Such as?” tentatively asked Beca starting to sweat. The whole thing was starting to feel way too intimate for her; being locked in Chloe’s room, talking about how expansive they should have been with each other in front of her family. Hear heart was starting t race at the thought of Chloe treating her as like her girlfriend, so she reacted in the only way she knew: closing off and being dismissive, afraid that Chloe could find out how much she was affected by their conversation.
Beca had asked Chloe to make it quick, with the excuse that she had a lot of work to do on the mix for their setlist, so the redhead had started shooting questions at her
“Hand holding?”
“Obviously”
“Hugging?”
“Yeah, I can live with that” lied Beca, already in distress. She could barely survive their platonic hugs, she didn’t want to think about what a ‘romantic’ hug between them could do to her
“Sharing food, feeding each other?” continued Chloe, without missing a beat
“I think we already do that on daily basis” stated Beca tilting her head
“True. So you’re okay with me sitting on your lap too, pet names?”
“Ugh, seriously?” asked Beca feign disgust, but the serious expression on Chloe’s face made her clear her throat “Okay I can accept baby an babe” she conceded
“Okay…” pouted Chloe
“Oh my god, how did you want to call me?” laughed the brunette
“My little munching” beamed Chloe
“Absolutely not” spat out Beca terrified and they both laughed
Chloe became suddenly serious and looked into Beca’s eyes taking a deep breath “what about kissing?” she asked tentatively, worrying her bottom lip
Beca hesitated. “I mean, I guess… if we have to” she mumbled, feeling her cheeks heating up
“We totally don’t have to” assured the redhead “I mean, it would be easier to convince them that we love each other if they saw us kissing, but we don’t have to prove anything to them” she added with a hint of sadness in her eyes. Beca just wasn’t able to say no to Chloe
“Okay, yes, I can do this. I can kiss you” accepted B hiding her bright red face under the palms of her hands
“Don’t be so nervous about it, do you wanna practice?” asked Chloe taking Beca’s hands away from her face to let her see the ironic way she was wiggling her eyebrows
“Dude, no! what the fuck” spat out Beca, jumping off the bed
“I was joking” laughed Chloe
“Yeah, well. Are we done here?” asked the brunette, feeling a sudden need to run away
“Yep. Thanks Bec, you can go now” dismissed her Chloe.
It was gonna be a disaster. Beca knew she was going to die as soon as Chloe’s lips would touch hers. To be honest, she didn’t even know if she could survive at the fact that Chloe would introduce Beca to her family as her girlfriend.
The following days they went shopping to find some dresses for the wedding and the wedding related events they were going to attend during the week they’d spend together at Chloe’s childhood house.
Beca hated shopping, and she hated the idea of wearing a dress, but she decided to let Chloe chose – with some limitations – what she would have liked her girlfriend to wear at her brother’s wedding.
To Beca it had a bittersweet taste; she couldn’t say she didn’t love to spend time alone with Chloe, trying out clothes in the redhead’s room and already pretending to be a couple, even if there was no one to watch them, just as an inside joke between them and to practice for the wedding.
“Babe, what do you think?” giggled Chloe turning on herself to fully show the dress she was wearing to Beca
“You look amazing, baby” joked back Beca “seriously, I thin we found the dress” she said in a more serious tone
“Thanks” smiled Chloe approaching her. Beca swallowed hard imagining a million different scenarios of what Chloe was going to do once she’d reached her – most of which ended with them kissing.
When Chloe reached her, she gently pushed a lock of brown hair behind her shoulder and let her finger trace Beca’s arm “you look amazing too” she said staring into deep blue eyes “we really are a beautiful couple” she joked, letting Beca breathe again.
It hurt. To know that it was all pretend, that Chloe wasn’t her girlfriend and it was just a joke for her, but Beca found that she couldn’t get enough of that game and wished it could last forever, because it did hurt, but it hurt so good.

Bechloe Week 2020 – Day3: Drunk Texts
We were bound to be together
An au where Beca didn't get together with Jesse and that allowed her relationship with Chloe to grow.
or
The way Pitch Perfect 1 should have gone ;)
Set during Beca’s first two years at Barden; everything goes as it should, nothing angsty happens and everyone is happy. Just a sloppy falling-in-love story between two college girls, told through their drunk texts, kind of...
Rating: T
Words Count: 2.5K
Thanks to @viharistenno for being my beta
Read here or on AO3
She took my arm, I don’t know how it happened
After Hood Night, Beca was lying on her bed; the weird buzzing in her brain caused by alcohol made it hard for her to fall asleep. She wasn’t used to drinking and partying with strangers until late night, but she had to admit it wasn’t the worst thing she’d done. That Jesse seemed nice after all, a little pushy maybe, but Beca knew she needed a push sometimes, maybe she should give him a chance-
Her phone buzzed on the nightstand
CHLOE BEALE: Im so glad that I met you xx
BECA: Yeah, you kinda mentioned that…
Beca bit her bottom lip and a bright smile formed on her face. There was something about Chloe, that didn’t make Beca want to push her away. On the contrary, it was rather a pull, that made Beca want to get closer to her.
She placed the phone on her stomach, letting out a heavy sigh, smile still present on her lips. Beca couldn’t believe she actually auditioned for an acapella singing group, just because a crazy – naked – girl told her to, after crushing her shower and forcing her to sing with her; it was a situation that normally would have made her run for the hills and yet, she went to the audition – and she got in – and to the following party. Beca didn’t even know how that happened, Chloe had dragged her into this whole new world, and she was kinda okay with that.
It confused Beca; for the first time her instinct didn’t tell her to push this person away, it told her to get to know her better, to become her friend, but most of all Beca wanted Chloe to like her, she wanted to impress her. She checked her phone to see if Chloe had texted her anything else, but there were no new messages, so she let out another sigh – a disappointed one this time – and put the phone away.
Maybe Chloe was still with shower guy, they seemed to be pretty close at the party. Her stomach twisted and Beca huffed again; the way Chloe had grabbed her arms and how close she got to her while talking, gave her some vibes, for a moment she’d thought that the redhead was flirting with her – a thought she wasn’t completely opposed to – but then she saw her with that guy while she was busy talking to Jesse, and kicked herself for being so delusional, she was well aware they were having sex in the sowers, they were obviously together.
Beca shook her head and rolled her eyes to herself, turning to her side to try to sleep.
I felt it in my chest as she looked at me
CHLOE: Admit you had fun tonight! :P
Beca was a bit more tipsy than usual – okay, let’s say she was drunk – but it wasn’t her fault; Amy arrived there with the clear internet of getting the brunette drunk that night. She dumbly smiled at her phone and almost gave in, but then she remembered their bet.
“I don’t know why I let you drag me to this stupid party” she spat out when they arrived at the ΣΒΘ frat house.
“Come on, I bet you’re going to have fun” cheered Chloe making Beca roll her eyes.
“I doubt it” stated the brunette.
“We’re here bitches!” screamed Amy going straight for the alcohol table, followed by Stacie.
When her head started to spin, Beca realized that maybe she’d let Amy fix her one drink too much, but she didn’t care, not when Chloe was leaning in so close to whisper things in her ear – shout actually, to be heard over the loud music – and had one arm wrapped around Beca’s shoulders; the weight of Chloe on her felt amazing and the way Chloe looked at her made her heart do funny things in her chest.
Beca definitely blamed it on the alcohol, but deep inside she knew it was the same feeling she had the first time they met at the activities fair; that smile Chloe gave her and those blue eyes, so deep that Beca felt like she was drowning in them, knocked all the air out of her lungs and she felt her heart racing.
Even if she did run away that time, Beca just couldn’t stop thinking about her, until that girl jumped in her shower, making Beca incredibly frustrated and embarrassed. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t help but looking – more than once – at the girl’s naked body and her mind wandered without her permission. Chloe was undeniably beautiful, and her confidence made her even hotter.
Beca should have known then that she was gone, but – always oblivious to her own feelings – it took her several weeks of parties and rehearsals to know that she had, in fact, fallen head over hills for the redhead.
Suddenly Beca felt Chloe stepping away from her and saw the girl launching herself into Tom’s arms. The brunette found herself downing the remains of her drink and accepting a new one from Amy. The rest of the night is still a blur, she vaguely remembered Jesse helping her through her dorm room door and saying good night, at which she believed she grunted before the guy closed the door behind him.
Beca frowned at the memory and looked back at her phone; there was a new message on the screen
CHLOE: you disappeared tho. Stacie said you left w Jesse :(
BEC: yoy wr wit Tom
CHLOE: I told you I was going to say hi and when I came back you were gone >.<
BEC: are u tofether?
CHLOE: No, I’m alone
BEC: no I mwan ar you datingm
BEC: ?
Chloe started typing and deleting and Beca started to freak out; she’d known this girl for less than a year, she saw her with Tom from day one, she had no right whatsoever to be upset about them dating, even if Chloe had been sending her mixed signals from the start and was annoyingly touchy and loving and not-so-unintentionally made Beca’s head spin more than alcohol did
CHLOE: No, he’s not my boyfriend. We used to be fwb but I ended it a while ago because I started to like someone… :)<3
Just keep your eyes on me
The following day Beca felt like shit; her head hurt, and she felt nauseous, that’s why she was immensely grateful to Chloe for dragging her to that stupid party the night before their special rehearsal’s session.
“Remind me to kill you when this is over” she lamented when Chloe greeted her with her usual bright smile – the girl clearly didn’t drink as much as Beca did the night before – and a quick hug
“Can’t wait” winked the redhead, making Beca’s blood boil in her veins.
Chloe really looked amazing that morning and was clearly making an effort to be noticed by the brunette; she managed to make even that idiotic hostess choreography look beautiful. It wasn’t just the dancing, Beca found every movement Chloe made incredibly sexy, maybe because of that half confession she had made the night before, or maybe because Beca knew Chloe was doing it on purpose; she knew it because Chloe basically never dropped her eye contact with Beca, almost like she was trying to cast a spell on her, and maybe she did.
“You’re on a mission today huh?” Beca hushed to her during a break
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” answered Chloe wearing a shit eating grin
“Well, better for me then, I’m enjoying the show” she shot back without thinking too much about it and regretting it right away, but the fire it lit in Chloe’s eyes told her she’d said just the right thing.
“What’s with all this eye fucking?” suddenly spat out Amy, making the room giggle. Except for Beca who became bright red, and Aubrey who cleared her throat glaring at Chloe, who innocently smiled biting her lip.
“Did you finally hook up or something?” asked Stacie in amusement
“Can we focus on the damn choreography?” asked Aubrey grinding her teeth.
Deep in her eyes, I think I see the future
Beca’s plan was simple: to go to college for one year, convince her dad that she tried and have him send her to Los Angeles the following year to finally start working towards her dream of producing music. However, something along the way went incredibly wrong, or rather incredibly right, and now all she wanted was to stay there with those nerds who somehow became her family.
The look on Chloe’s face when they won the finals made Beca realize that her future wasn’t in LA, her future was right there with those girls, with Chloe. In that moment Beca felt like she belonged there; she saw her next few years at Barden, with the Bellas, and in the hug they shared, Beca felt that Chloe would be part of her life forever.
The girls celebrated in the Bellas’ sorority house and they all, even Aubrey, got incredibly wasted. Most of the girls had already moved there from their dorms and wouldn’t have to go anywhere after their party.
During the night Chloe made sure to let Beca know, more than once, how sad she was that the brunette had decided to really leave for Los Angeles in the end, instead of moving in with her, and she never left her side the whole night. They drank together and laughed and danced, and they almost kissed, but Chloe pulled away last minute confusing Beca. When Beca asked her why, Chloe mumbled with watery eyes “you’re leaving, what’s the point?”, but immediately cleared her throat and dragged Beca to dance with the others. In her inebriated state, the music and Chloe’s body moving rhythmically against hers, were enough to distract Beca from that statement. Only later, walking back to her dorm, it carved its way back into her mind.
BEC ♡: I not gng to LA
CHLO: ???
BEC ♡: im stang heee
Chloe’s reply was a string of emojis Beca was too drunk to interpret followed by
CHLO: yoy styng w the bellassssss
BEC ♡: im staying fr you
CHLO: were gnna be cocaptnsss!!!
  This woman is my destiny
Beca’s second year at Barden started out completely differently from her first one; she was living in a sorority house along with eight other girls and was co-captain of the acapella group she led to victory the year before.
Her relationship with Chloe evolved in a strange way; they acted like a married couple now, but they never crossed the line, both too scared of ruining what they had. With Aubrey gone, the Bellas were their responsibility and Beca knew that was what mattered the most to Chloe, so she chose to focus on their acapella group. For Chloe, not because she was scared of fucking things up, obviously.
Their mutual pinning was clear to all their friends; some of them – Amy – teased them  about it, while others desperately tried to help them figure it out.
One night, during one of their let’s-get-drunk-because-why-not nights, they were playing truth or dare
“Beca” started Stacie “truth or dare?” she asked with a wicked smile, making Beca sweat
“Truth…” tentatively answered the brunette
“Do you have more than platonic feelings for anyone in this room?” asked Stacie raising an eyebrow. Chloe held her breath at that and Beca was the only one to miss it, too occupied freaking out
“Dare” blurted out Beca “dare, I meant dare!” Beca’s heart started beating dangerously fast, hoping that Stacie would have let her change her reply, but the girl’s eyes twinkled and Beca knew she’d fallen right into her trap.
“I dare you… to kiss the girl you have the biggest toner in the world for and release us all from this ridiculous sexual tension you two generate” commanded the tall girl rolling her eyes.
Beca felt all the air leave her lungs. Everything was silent around her and all she could hear was the uneven beating of her heart. She swallowed hard looking at Chloe to see what her reaction had been and the girl’s hesitant smile calmed Beca a little.
Beca wasn’t one to back down from a challenge and the alcohol in her system only made her more competitive, but most of all, there was nothing in the world she wanted more than to finally kiss Chloe, so she crossed the circle they were sitting in to reach the redhead on the other side of it. Chloe was biting her bottom lip in anticipation and Beca could see in her eyes that the girl wanted to kiss her just as much as she did.
Beca gently rested her palm on Chloe’s cheek. They didn’t speak, but they didn’t need words to communicate; their eyes were saying all they needed to say. They expressed how much they both wanted to do this, but only if the other was okay with that, and that it was going to be okay. They completely forgot they weren’t alone.
Beca leaned in and kissed her, Chloe wrapped her arms around Beca’s neck and pulled her closer, letting out a sigh that made Beca’s heart flutter. They stayed there, kneeling in the middle of the living room, kissing slowly and deeply, their lips moved together as if they were dancing. Beca wasn’t sure who deepened the kiss, but as soon as their tongues touched, a million fireworks went off in her brain, covering the sound of their friends whooping and clapping and wolf whistling – Amy – and making her forget her own name.
Beca couldn’t have enough of Chloe’s lips. When the kiss ended and Chloe tried to move away, Beca desperately chased her mouth and started kissing her again, gaining a chuckle from the redhead. The two girls were only separated by Amy accidently bathing them in tequila while waving a bottle in the air, shouting that they had to drink to that.
After two – or was it three? – Bhloe drinks, as Amy had named them, Beca was still snuggled up next to Chloe. They shared some quick kisses during the rest of the night and when they decided to go wrap it up, Beca really wasn’t ready to sleep. All she wanted to do was kiss Chloe all night long and the morning after, and for the rest of her life. When Chloe pulled her in for another kiss, she was happy to welcome Chloe’s tongue in her mouth again
“Good night, baby” whispered Chloe against her lips before leaving.
Beca was lying awake in her bed; she could still feel the ghost of Chloe’s lips lingering on hers. She took her phone and started typing.
BEC ♡: I lied at trth o dre I dont have a tner for you
CHLO: Bec…
*CHLO IS TYPING*
BEC ♡: Im crazy abt yoy! youre my destiny

Bechloe Week 2020 – Day 2: “He bit me!”
Peanut
This is a very short fluffy au where Beca and Chloe live together as girlfriends and have a little kitten that Chloe brought home from the animal’s shelter she volunteers in...
p.s. I am sorry...👀
Rating: M(ish)

Betaed by @viharistenno <3
Read here or on AO3 or not at all cause this is ridiculous
“Aw! Son of a b-"
“Beca! You know I don’t want you to talk to my baby like this" scolded her Chloe.
“He bit me!” gasped the brunette.
“Oh stop it, my Peanut is the sweetest little angel-"
“He’s a demon” corrected her Beca.
“Beca, he’s a kitten, how can you be so scared of him?” giggled Chloe.
“I- I'm not scared of him, he’s just... mean. And he bit me!” complained Beca showing her offended hand to Chloe, which she took to examine.
“It’s just a tiny scratch, stop complaining so much" she dismissed her with a scoff, but she didn’t let go of her hand – any excuse to keep physical contact with Beca was good for Chloe and Beca had learned to be okay with that a long time ago.
“Yeah I’d like to see what you’d do if I bit you" scoffed the brunette feigning to be outraged. She blurted that out without thinking about it and didn’t realise what she said until she noticed Chloe biting her bottom lip and looking at her in a way that made her swallow hard.
“I mean, I wouldn’t complain about that...” smirked the redhead getting closer to her.
Beca didn’t know when Chloe let go of her hand to wrap her arms around Beca’s neck, but her hands were resting on Chloe’s hips now. The atmosphere in the room had definitely shifted, her fingers twitched in anticipation, knowing that Chloe was about to lean in and close the gap between them.
The kiss they shared was tender and chaste, until Beca playfully bit Chloe’s lips, smiling into the kiss before trying to part to say something stupid, but Chloe’s arms around her neck didn’t let her move away and the redhead’s lips were on hers again in a heartbeat, kissing her way more passionately than before.
Chloe’s reaction made something click inside her and she decided to take the lead kissing her harder. Beca’s left hand started moving up Chloe’s body until her fingertips gently brushed over Chloe’s jawline before she grabbed it to turn Chloe’s head so she could reach her neck. Her other hand moved around Chloe’s waist, nails digging into her lower back, to keep her close. When Beca bit down her neck Chloe let out a filthy moan that made all the hairs on Beca’s body rise to attention. Chloe’s hands slid up to bury themselves into dark locks and gently pulled, making Beca hiss and bite her again.
“I need you, now" breathed out Chloe and Beca started walking backwards leading them towards their bedroom, without stopping her ministrations.
Once they reached the bed Beca sat down and started unfastening the button of Chloe’s shorts to pull them down and away before standing up and spinning around, using the momentum to throw Chloe on the bed.
The redhead giggled and scooted over on the bed to lay her head on the pillow. Beca moved on top of her, hands running up and down Chloe’s sides until they slipped behind her shirt, lightly lifting it to reveal Chloe’s toned abs. The brunette lied down and started kissing the skin between Chloe’s pants and the hem of her shirt.
Beca started to push her shirt up to reveal more skin and not so gently bit down on Chloe’s abdomen.
“Bec...” hissed Chloe.
Beca smirked against Chloe’s skin when she heard the shiver in her voice.
“You’re so beautiful, you know that?” whispered Beca while her hands kept inching the shirt up, hungrily brushing over Chloe’s ribcage and up over her breasts, mouth following close behind, peppering kisses all over the newly exposed skin. Chloe’s body arched into her and she let out a pleased hum when Beca took a hard nipple in her mouth gently sucking on it, the hum suddenly turned into a sharp gasp when Beca bit on the bundle of nerves but quickly soothed it with her tongue.
The brunette sat up astride Chloe’s hips and took her shirt all the way off before doing the same thing with her own and lay back down on top of her girlfriend to kiss her deeply.
Beca had always hated Sunday mornings, until they had turned into her regular sessions of lazy make out and lovemaking with Chloe Beale. Beca now loved Sunday mornings very much and wished they could last forever. So she took her time enjoying the way Chloe’s body responded to her ministrations; they’ve been together for quite a while now, but for Beca, kissing Chloe still felt like the first time and she loved getting lost in it, in the way Chloe sucked her tongue into her mouth while her fingertips gently scratched at the back of Beca’s neck and their bodies deliciously slid against one another.
Chloe wasn’t complaining about Beca taking her time, but the brunette could feel her getting restless beneath her; nails scratching a little harder down her back and hips rocking upwards not so subtly anymore, were the telling signs that Chloe was starting to need more, so Beca drove their kiss to an end and slowly sat up again, gently dragging her hands over the redhead’s body and settled herself between her thighs. Chloe immediately bent her knees to give Beca more space. The brunette smiled at that and quickly kissed her again.
Beca kept leaving open mouthed kisses down Chloe’s body, occasionally biting her gently to keep up the joke and because Chloe’s reaction to that was intoxicating. When she reached Chloe’s pants, she placed a gentle kiss on her centre and felt the wetness starting to soak through the fabric. She bit her lip to stop the groan trying to escape from her mouth and moved to leave one last bite on Chloe’s inner thigh, gaining a strangled gasp that turned into a breathy moan – probably exaggerated just for Beca’s enjoyment – before moving back to where they both really wanted Beca to focus. Just when the brunette slipped two fingers beneath the soaked material to push it aside, a particularly distressed mew reached their ears.
Beca immediately jumped down off the bed and ran into the kitchen, where she found Peanut trying to get out of a cookie jar they had on the high shelf over the counter. She quickly grabbed a chair to pull him out and started cradling him like a baby.
“How did you get up there, huh?” she asked with that stupid voice everyone makes when they talk to puppies.
A very frustrated Chloe stormed out of their bedroom with the full intent to make a scene about Beca just leaving her hanging like that, but her heart melted at the sight of her girlfriend cuddling the cat she was so against keeping when Chloe brought him home from the shelter just a couple of weeks ago. She reached Beca and gently hugged her from behind.
“He was stuck in the jar up there" explained Beca in a pouting manner, while playing with the kitten’s paw and filling Chloe’s heart with love.
“What a dork..." she giggled before placing a soft kiss on Beca’s cheek.
“Hey! He's a baby!" defended him Beca.
“I was talking about you" laughed Chloe.

Bechloe Week 2020 – Day 1: Friends with Benefits
Call me friend, but keep me closer
Post PP3. Chloe is madly in love with Beca since college, now Beca is a famous pop star, but they still live together in New York while Amy left after finding out she was rich. One night they end up having drunk sex and the morning after Chloe doesn’t want Bec to freak out about it.

Big thanks to @viharistenno for beta reading this and fixing my mess! <3
Read here or on AO3
And I could lie, say I like it like that…
“Hey, are you awake? I was thinking that maybe we could, you know…”
“Yeah, totally. I was just calling it for today so… perfect timing” Beca said casually before hanging up.
Chloe put the phone back in the pocket of her coat and started walking home. She knew she shouldn’t have asked, but her better judgement weakened after a couple of drinks and she just really needed Beca. She felt lonely; at the party many people hit on her, but all she could think about was going home to Beca. She knew Beca didn’t feel the same way about her, so it shouldn’t have been a surprise that it didn’t feel intimate at all, because it wasn’t. It’s not like Beca didn’t care about her – Beca loved her deeply, just not the way Chloe wanted her to – they were just two friends with a deal. And yet, the way they talked about it, like if they were talking about watching a movie, hurt her immensely. The worst part was that she only had herself to blame as she was the one who suggested it after all.
It was the night they moved in the new house – a bigger one, with two bedrooms and an actual bathroom, provided with a door – they’d had a couple of drinks too much, to celebrate, and ended up having drunk passionate sex all night long. Chloe woke up the morning after in a state of bliss she’d missed for far too long – it was even better than when they won Worlds. However, the feeling didn’t last long because when Beca woke up Chloe could sense the boiling panic she was feeling. The brunette looked like she was about to throw up any second and Chloe felt deep inside of her it wasn’t because of the amount of alcohol they consumed the night before.
“Chlo, I… we- last night was-”
“Was fun, right?” she jumped in, forcing a bright smile on her face, to dissimulate the way her stomach was turning inside out. She knew it wasn’t what Beca was about to say but couldn’t handle to hear it – it was a mistake. So, she got herself together and spoke before Beca could shatter her heart completely.
“We should do that more often” she added casually, getting out of bed without bothering to cover up her naked body, hoping it would distract Beca enough to let her finish her act without the brunette interrupting her, “you know, to have some fun… until we find somebody…”
“You, you mean like…” the brunette stuttered.
“Friends with benefits” winked Chloe, smile never leaving her lips, no matter how crushed she felt inside. She knew she was getting herself into a shitty situation, but she wasn’t ready to lose Beca, she couldn’t afford that.
“Yeah that… that sounds good” answered Beca, surprise clear on her face, she seemed as shocked as Chloe was about her actually agreeing to that.
“Awes” Chloe swallowed hard “I’m gonna hit the shower” she stated leaving the room. It was a bad idea, but Chloe couldn’t deny she was thrilled at the idea of sleeping with Beca again.
The following times they hooked up were nothing like the first time – the sex was always great though, but Beca was different – she never kissed or cuddled her after like Chloe remembered so vividly her doing the first time, and she didn’t even stay the night in her bed. Every time Chloe found herself crying alone in bed, she swore she’d end it, still, she couldn’t stop. There was something about finally being fucked by those slender fingers she’d dream about so many times and got off to – even when she was with somebody else – that made it impossible for her to call their arrangement off.
“How was the party?” asked Beca when Chloe got home “I thought you’d spend the night with someone you’d met there”
“Nope” mumbled Chloe popping the last letter.
“Their loss.” stated Beca entering her personal space “Shall we?” she asked, before leaning in to press a kiss to Chloe’s lips. Beca had never initiated physical contact between them, it was a pleasant surprise to Chloe, until she tasted the alcohol on her lips
“Are you drunk?” Chloe asked frowning.
“What? No, I just had a beer to, you know, catch up with you” told her Beca grinning.
“We don’t have to if you don’t want to” Chloe assured her.
“Of course I want to” the brunette frowned “actually I was hoping you’d come home tonight” she confessed.
“You did?” whispered Chloe, with a hint of hope and disbelief in her voice.
“Yeah” Beca cleared her throat, “I’ve been pretty stressed out because of work lately, I could use your… help” she added smirking, already leading Chloe towards her bedroom.
They’d never done it in Beca’s bed before, but Chloe was too disappointed to notice, she was lost in her head; this contract they had hurt way too much. Knowing that to Beca this was just sex, a way to relieve some stress, knowing that she will never be enough for Beca to fall in love with her, and that she’d eventually fall for someone like she did with Jesse all those years ago pushed all of the oxygen out of her lungs. A thousand bells were ringing in her head, telling her to stop, but she couldn’t stop.
As soon as Beca’s shirt was off her brain shut down. It happened every time.
Chloe was hypnotized by Beca’s body, by being finally able to kiss her, touch her, to slip two fingers inside her cunt and make her come cursing and whispering how good Chloe was at that. It was intoxicating, to have Beca literally melting onto her hand. It was a drug Chloe couldn’t give up. She always needed more, needed it so much that it alone made all the pain worth it. She didn’t even need Beca to return the favor, but Beca always did anyway, like a good contractor who always fulfills their part of the deal.
Looking into Beca’s eyes while coming hurt too, but Chloe couldn’t help that either. Maybe because she was a sucker for pain or maybe because, in that moment, she felt a connection so deep with the brunette that made her feel like they were two pieces of the same puzzle finally clicking, like they belonged together. The way Beca looked at her made it impossible for her to look away.
The next morning Chloe woke up with Beca’s arm around her and their naked bodies pressed up together. “You’re still here” she mumbled lacing her fingers with the ones resting around her middle.
“Well, it’s my bed…” stated Beca, making Chloe’s blood freeze in her veins.
The redhead quickly sat up pressing the sheets against her chest “Oh sorry! Last night I passed out, I didn’t mean to-”
“Hey, it’s okay” assured Beca stopping her from getting out of the bed “I don’t mind” she added smiling.
Chloe relaxed and laid back down, Beca’s arm was still around her and the girl started to trace random paths on Chloe’s abdomen with her fingers, using the other arm to keep her head up and look at Chloe in a way that made it hard for her to breathe. It felt so intimate, to lay naked together without having sex, just looking into each other’s eyes.
Beca kissed her slowly and whispered a sweet “Good morning” against her lips, before getting up and walking to the shower. Chloe lay there staring at her leaving, with a bittersweet feeling in her chest; it was like watching her dreamlife from outside of a window, so close and yet unreachable. It was bliss and torture at the same time.
Chloe’s favourite moments were the times Beca asked for it: at first, she started to ask Chloe to ease her mind before her way too frequent flights to LA, to the point that, after a while, Chloe started to expect that when she knew Beca had to leave the next day. It became a sort of appointment they had, like the Wednesdays’ movie nights. Sometimes Chloe stopped at the store coming home from the vet clinic to buy a bottle of wine, other times she cooked a full meal to set the mood. It felt so natural that Chloe started to pretend that they were actually dating and every time Beca said something that brought her back to reality it felt like a breakup.
The feeling that she had to stop having sex with Beca before she drove herself crazy was a permanent thought in the back of her mind, but every time she decided to do so, Beca had this way of drawing her back in, as if she knew Chloe was drifting away from her and consciously decided to stop her.
They were watching a movie on the couch, as they did every Wednesday, when Chloe felt Beca’s foot move beneath the blanket and slide up to her knee. She looked at her and saw the brunette biting her lip in anticipation.
“I’m bored” complained Beca, trying to stop the smirk from showing on her lips. Chloe swallowed hard before licking her lips involuntarily.
“Come here” she commanded.  Beca didn’t need to be told twice, she threw away the blanket and moved to straddle Chloe’s hips, the intensity of her stare set Chloe on fire.
Beca’s kisses tasted of love and need, Chloe had stopped reminding herself a while ago about Beca not being in love with her, and it was so easy to pretend that she was, with Beca’s hips grinding down on her, while she kept kissing Chloe like her life depended on it.
They’d never had a full make out session before; sure, they’d share some kisses, mostly during sex, but Chloe never had Beca panting into her mouth and chasing her lips while she desperately tried to pull Chloe impossibly closer to her.
The burning in her lungs forced Chloe to break the kiss and look at Beca; darkened eyes and swollen lips, uneven breathing as she tried to take in as much oxygen as she could. She looked like she was about to say something, but then she didn’t. The soft smile on her face pulled a string inside Chloe’s heart and the redhead felt an overwhelming urge to confess her feelings. She knew it would have probably scared Beca and made her run for the hills, ruining everything. So she choked it down and instead flipped their bodies, pushing Beca’s back on the couch. The brunette pulled her down, welcoming her hips between her thighs and resumed their kissing.
Chloe had to suppress the need to tell Beca those three words every day since that night and she knew she couldn’t resist much longer, she had to tell Beca she was in love with her.

Three years after the USO tour Chloe’s at the bus stop and she sees a short brunette in the corner of her eye who instantly reminds her of Beca. They don’t really talk anymore and Chloe always wondered if Beca ever felt the same way Chloe did about her, but she never showed it.
❝ But we were something, don't you think so? Roaring twenties, tossing pennies in the pool And if my wishes came true It would've been you In my defense, I have none For never leaving well enough alone But it would've been fun If you would've been the one❞

Chapter3
I apologise for taking so long to post chapter 3, but this story is pretty personal to me and I didn't think it would have been so hard for me to write it honestly.
→ MASTERPOST
During the two weeks’ vacation in Florida, Beca and Chloe really meet each other and get a lot closer. Beca has to deal with Aubrey and some other known faces, along with new ones, which causes her a lot of social anxiety. This chapter is accompanied by various old songs so it’s a bit of a throwback (:

Summer after high school (When we first met)
1st of July 2010
As soon as they arrived to the hotel Beca wanted to go back home. Aubrey was already getting on her nerves, bitching about how much she hated the place. Like if Aubrey wasn’t enough already, Chloe had brought with her Tom and Stacie, so the group was now formed by four people other than her and Chloe – way too many for Beca’s liking – and on top of everything, the other guy of their group was super creepy and started hitting on her in the most disgusting way.
“Bumper leave her alone, she’s off limits” intimated to him Chloe and Beca smiled at her thankfully.
“This place sucks! There’s literally nothing here!” kept dramatically complaining the blonde.
“Why didn’t we go to Miami as always?” wined Stacie.
“Apparently this shithole is the only place Sheila’s new husband could afford" answered Aubrey with disgust “oh- sorry" she fake-apologized to Beca, Chloe glared at her but didn’t say anything.
Beca wasn’t quick enough to think about a comeback that Bumper added “It’s incredible how they could find the only place in Florida with nothing to do! Why do they hate us so much?”
Beca was actually glad there wasn’t much to do and, even if she planned to stay in her room the whole time, avoiding as much as possible socializing, she had to admit the place was nice; the beach looked amazing and it was right in front of their hotel, which had a swimming pool and a spa too, so she didn’t really know what the others were complaining about.
“I hope I will find some chicks anyway" she heard Bumper say.
“As if anyone would date you” dismissed him Aubrey.
“Who talked about dating?” he retorted.
“You’re so gross" hissed the blonde.
“Aw Aubrey, I know you only say that because you’re jealous” he lamented “but you know I see you as a sister... unless...” he trailed off and Aubrey almost gagged at that.
“in your dreams".
__Sometimes I get so weird, I even freak myself out
After leaving their things in the respective rooms and freshening up Beca was forced to go to the beach with her father and Sheila.
“Once we’ve figured out the place, you will be allowed to go around on your own" he explained.
“Dad, the beach is literally on the other side of the street" she complained.
Beca didn’t bother to put on a swimming suit since she was sure she would have been back in her hotel room right away to work on her mix – she was wrong.
They got on the beach and walked to their assigned spot, where they had two sunbeds and a sunshade.
“okay, can I go now?” she asked impatiently
“Honey, why don’t you stay here for a while? It’s so nice" suggested Sheila and Beca just rolled her eyes at her, sitting on the hot sand besides one of their chairs and putting her headphones on.
Beca noticed Chloe playing volleyball in the water with the others and found herself hypnotized by her; the way her arms and body moved swiftly to hit the ball, the way she smiled. Beca was sure, if she were to remove her headphones, she would have been able to hear her melodic laugh.
The teenager froze when she saw Chloe noticing her. She quickly lowered her eyes and fixated them on the sand but was still enough aware of Chloe to know she was getting out of the water and walking her way. When she was close enough, Beca looked up again lowering her headphones. Chloe didn’t bother to get a towel and Beca's eyes couldn’t help but follow the droplets of water running down Chloe’s body.
“Aren’t you getting hot?" Chloe asked making Beca’s face go bright red.
“no... I-what?” babbled Beca shaking her head. Chloe chuckled at that and sat down on the sand next to her.
“why are you still fully dressed?” she questioned, and Beca released the breath she was holding in.
“I don’t want to swim” she simply said, without giving the redhead much to continue a conversation.
“The others wanted to go explore this place, to see if we can find something to do, you wanna come with us?” she offered gently.
“Nah, I’m good" declined Beca.
“Okay".
Chloe got up and started walking towards her friends when she suddenly turned around “I’ll see you tonight then" she said smiling and Beca’s heart felt warm.
The brunette was still looking at Chloe when she saw Tom reach out with a hand and shamelessly clean the sand from her toned ass, making it bounce a little. Beca had to look away.
“Okay I’m gonna go back to the hotel" she announced, leaving before her dad could answer anything. She spent the rest of the day working on her mix.
“So... Beca, right?” asked Stacie not waiting for an answer “we’re going out tonight and you’re coming with us" she ordered. Beca instinctively looked at Chloe, who smiled brightly at her “it’s gonna be fun, I promise” added the tall brunette with a wink. Beca found herself walking to the beach with the rest of the group, Chloe never dropped Tom’s hand – not that she was paying attention to that.
Beca froze when she noticed a bigger group of people waiting for them. She really wasn’t good at dealing with many people at once.
“Hey guys, this is Beca" introduced her Chloe “Beca, these are Jessica and Ashley. They come here every year, so they know every corner of this place" explained the redhead “She’s Flo...”
Beca zoned out while Chloe was introducing her to everyone, she knew she wouldn’t remember any of their names anyway, and which one was Ashley again?
“...and he-" continued Chloe, gesturing towards someone attached to Stacie face. Beca reconnected to the situation just in time to see Luke grinning at Chloe “is Luke. You should know him, he goes to our school” before Beca could decide if she wanted to say that yes, she knew him, Luke smiled at her.
“Of course! I gave her a fake ID. Becky, right?” Beca faked a smile awkwardly.
“it’s Beca actually” corrected him Chloe.
The brunette barely said a word through the whole night. Ashley and Jessica took them to an old forsaken pier, where they stood chatting and drinking beer. Beca thought it was pretty dangerous to drink in the dark on a tiny strike of cement in the sea, but whatever.
“At the end of this pier there is an old dismissed firehouse, everything is dark around it" said Ashley.
“it’s the best place to watch shooting stars" added Jessica.
“that’s amazing, we must go one night!” gasped Chloe excited.
Beca was desperately trying to find something to say, but the more she tried the more her brain got stuck on every little thought, without being able to express any of them. She felt weird, it was like nothing she came up with was good enough to say it aloud; everything sounded too stupid or too lame to interest all those people.
“Oh my god, Beca would you shut up for a second? You’re filling my head with words” complained ironically – and over dramatically – Aubrey, making almost everybody laugh.
“Aubrey!” scolded her Chloe.
“what? It was a joke, she didn’t say a word all night, that’s weird" complained the blonde grinning.
Beca was spiraling and she even considered to tell the group she was tired and run away from the situation when Luke suddenly took out a joint “does someone smoke?” he asked to the group before lighting it up.
“Sure” she answered, glad to have something to calm her nerves just a little.
“You smoke?” gasped Chloe, making Beca’s anxiety hit a new high.
“I… no, I mean yes- just sometimes. Is that a problem?” she found herself babble, as if she had to give some kind of explanation to anyone about that.
“She hates when I smoke” cut in Tom blowing the smoke out of his mouth, before passing her the joint.
Beca took a deep puff thinking that she would never smoke in front of Chloe after she told her it bothered her – if she were her girlfriend, of course – but Tom didn’t seem to have a problem with that.
“It not a problem” softly giggled the redhead “I just don’t like the smell”.
On their way back to the hotel, all Beca could think about was what a waste of time it had been to go out instead of working on her mix. The night was somehow even worse than she had expected, and she was feeling rather nauseous for all the anxiety it changed her with. Socializing is the fucking worst.
Suddenly she felt Chloe’s hand slide into hers, so she looked up at her – she had slowed down to walk next to Beca at the end of the group.
“So, fake ID, smoking pot… maybe I should stay away from you?” joked the redhead.
“Oh yes, I’m such a bad influence” scoffed Beca immediately cringing at her own words.
“How are you?” Chloe gently asked in a way more serious tone.
Beca swallowed hard “I’m good" she lied.
“You know, Aubrey isn’t as mean as she seems, she’s just really insecure and thinks to look stronger taking others down" she explained – that’s not an excuse thought Beca – “she does that with Bumper too" added the redhead squeezing her hand.
“Yeah, it’s okay, I don’t mind" assured her Beca trying her best to smile.
 __
The next day Beca put on some shorts and her bikini top, but still sat the whole morning under her sunshade with her iPod, watching the others play.
The group seemed to have begun official, since they were all having fun together, even Luke was there. He and Stacie seemed to be very intimate, the guy didn’t waste any opportunity to playfully swipe her up in his arms and every time Stacie made sure to let her hands linger on his muscular arms or his toned abs.
The brunette took her phone to message Amy, who texted her the night before asking how the situation was, but Beca was too socially exhausted to answer at the time.
Beca:
Your Luke is here too. The guy is RIPPED!
 Amy:
:Q_______ don’t make me jealous T_T
TALK TO HIM ABOUT ME!
 Beca:
You know I don’t talk to people.
I think he’s hooking up with Stacie btw :/
 Amy:
Aw fuck! <\3
 Beca:
Anyway, the situation is balls! I hate everything about this fucking vacation!
She also got an SMS by Jesse that made her roll her eyes, but smile nonetheless.
 Jesse:
I miss you too btw <3
 Beca:
Shut up.
“Who are you texting?” asked Chloe peering over her shoulder “Jesse..." she answered herself “is he your boyfriend?” Beca instinctively locked her phone and put it away.
“What? No. Absolutely not, he’s not" she hurried.
“okay...” answered Chloe in amusement “boys only send me hearts when they want to date me though" she insinuated “and you told him you missed him"
“I didn’t, that’s the point” gasped Beca “he just assumed on his own" she complained.
“I think you like him" teased the redhead.
“I so do not” stated Beca blushing.
“Whatever, your face says otherwise. Come play now, you’ve sat here long enough" ordered Chloe and Beca found herself obliging.
“I don’t like him!” she repeated letting Chloe drag her towards their friends.
__Please take me away from here ‘Cause I feel like such an insomniac
On the 4th of July they organized this big bonfire on the beach, to see the fireworks and then spend the night there with lots of alcohol, drinking games and a stupid midnight swim – totally recommended to get eaten by a shark.
Beca was particularly grumpy the whole day, she couldn’t believe she was really going to spend the night with all those people she barely knew, after having spent the whole day with them already. She allowed herself to stay in the hotel for a little longer that morning, telling her father and Sheila she had a headache and would have reached them soon.
Beca was chilling under her sunshade when she noticed Chloe approaching her and lowered her headphones around her neck.
“Sheila told me you weren’t feeling good this morning, how are you now?” she asked and Beca could sense she really cared, for some reason.
“Yeah I’m feeling better now" assured her Beca with a small smile.
“Awes! So you’ll still gonna be with us tonight, right?”
The brunette rolled her eyes at that, she really couldn’t understand why Chloe cared so much about her going with them at this stupid party. “Yes, Chloe I’ll be there" she promised hating herself for not being able to say no to the redhead.
“Now come, we’re playing beach volley” added Chloe dragging her by the arm.
Beca could barely leave her iPod and headphones inside her sun bag, that was thrown in a match with Flo and Bumper against Chloe, Tom and Aubrey.
The brunette hated any kind of physical activity, but there was something about beating Aubrey – and Tom – that sparked a fire in her. She still found herself rooting for Chloe somehow, so she couldn’t find it in herself to strike the winning point and let the ball pass her. They won anyway because Flo saved it and Bumper finished the action crushing it at Tom’s feet. The look on Aubrey’s face was priceless.
“Did you miss that on propose?” joyfully accused her Chloe when she went to congratulate them for the win – she was the only one of her team to do that, since Aubrey was still yelling at Tom how big of a delusion he was.
“What? No!" she lied “now can I go listen to my mus-"
“Nope" interrupted her Chloe “now we’re swimming!” Chloe said taking her hand and Beca let the redhead drag her in the water, where Ashley, Jessica and other guys Beca couldn’t remember the names of, were waiting for them.
Shortly after Stacie and Luke reached them informing the group everything was set for the night.
After watching the fireworks Beca was ready to head home – she was ready to head home way before that – but Chloe convinced her to stay, offering her a solo cup with vodka mixed with something super sweet. It was gross but Beca drank it anyway – liquid confidence.
She was on her second drink when Stacie suggested to play ‘spin the bottle’ and everyone eagerly agreed. Beca didn’t, but she didn’t want to draw attention on her, being the only one who didn’t want to play.
“Okay the rules are simple" started Bumper with a serious voice, once they all sat around the fire “on your turn you spin the bottle and kiss whoever it points to. No exceptions or you must pay a pledge” he uselessly explained, since everybody knew the game. Beca hated this game.
“Girls don’t hold back. Specially if you’re kissing another girl, we all want to see that!” he added with a perverted smile on his stupid face.
Beca started feeling sick, she started to think about what she would have done if she had to kiss Tom or, even worse, what if she had to kiss Chloe? She didn’t want that to make things awkward and ruin what could become a good friendship between them.
The first one to spin the bottle was Flo – Bumper’s victim for the day apparently.
Bumper groaned loudly in disappointment when the bottle landed on Luke and the two shared a short kiss without losing too much time.
Beca’s heart was beating way to hard in her chest.
“This game is stupid, I’m out of here" she blurred out before getting up.
“Oh, come on! Worried your nerdy boyfriend would be jealous about it?” teased her Aubrey. Beca straight up wanted to tell her to go fuck herself, but she didn’t – for Chloe, obviously.
“He's not my boyfriend” she said leaving.
“Beca hey, wait” called after her Chloe following her. When Beca was positive they were far enough from the group, she slowed down and let Chloe reach her.
“What happened?” asked the redhead with those soft eyes Beca could clearly see, even in the dim light.
“Nothing happened. It’s a stupid game" she repeated “and I don’t want to kiss most of the people sitting there anyway so what’s the point?” “so there’s someone you do want to kiss!” pointed out Chloe. Beca’s stomach twisted at that “who is it?”
“Is it Luke?” she hazarded when Beca didn’t answer to her.
“That’s none of your business” growled the brunette, starting to walk away again “don’t follow me" she demanded.
Beca couldn’t sleep that night and she couldn’t even work on her mix as she used to most nights, she was too preoccupied obsessing over the fact that she was rude to Chloe for no reason. She just really wanted to go back home.
 __
The next day Beca didn’t want to go to the beach. She was sure Chloe hated her and didn’t have the guts to face her. She knew she had to, she needed to apologize to her, just like she did with Jesse before leaving for this hellscape.
“Dude, can we talk for a moment?” asked Beca before their chemistry class started. “What for?” asked Jesse. Beca guessed she deserved that.
“Look, I’ve been an ass okay? I was stressed out and took it out on you" she tried, but she knew the guy wouldn’t give in so easily “I like having you around, you’re like the only one I actually like having around. I miss you dude, I’m not good at this but school is not the same without you being my friend"
Jesse sighed loudly “okay weirdo, I’m gonna let this one go, but next time you pull something like that we’re done.” He threatened “now, what did you say about missing me?” he teased with a smug smile.
__Thinking to myself, hey isn't this easy? And you've got a smile that could light up this whole town
When Beca finally found the courage to go to the beach she even forgot to bring her headphones, busy rehearsing the speech she had prepared to apologize to Chloe.
She totally didn’t expect to find Chloe sat on the sunbed next to Sheila’s, waiting for her. Beca gulped and slowed down, her heart started racing and her hands were sweaty.
“Hey, Chloe... uhm" she cleared her throat, her speech suddenly disappeared from her memory. Chloe looked at her using a hand as a shield against the sun, that still passed through, forcing her to close one eye.
“Hey! You finally decided to join us huh?” she beamed at her and for a moment Beca thought her smile was brighter than the sun. Chloe wasn’t mad at her apparently, so Beca sighed sitting down next to her.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
“I was waiting for you" simply said the redhead.
“What about the others?” “they went surfing". Beca furrowed her brows at that so Chloe added “I’m on my period" “oh" was all the brunette could answer.
“I was thinking we could listen to one of your playlists, but I see you don’t have your iPod” said Chloe pouting a little.
“I- I actually have it. I just forgot the headphones”.
“Oh, you girls can use mine" offered Sheila smiling at them and Beca felt very confused at that.
“No, don’t worry, there’s no need to" tried Beca but the woman insisted, so Chloe took the white wire she was offering.
“I’m going to put my feet in the water" excused herself Sheila.
Beca plugged the earphones in and gave one to Chloe, who adjusted herself on the lounger she was sharing with Beca – even if there was an empty one next to them now. Beca pressed play to her ’09 – ’10 playlist. It didn’t take long for Chloe to take charge of the device and start go through the tracks.
“Oh my God, can you listen to one whole song?” groaned Beca, Chloe kept constantly skipping through songs.
“Sorry" chuckled the redhead “okay, I promise I won’t skip this one" she said when ‘When Love Takes Over’ started playing.
“I didn’t think you listened to this stuff” Chloe quoted her and Beca smiled biting her bottom lip “it’s so different from your other playlists”
“I’m trying new things recently. I like the beat; David Guetta is really talented” she explained.
It was so easy to be with Chloe without all those annoying people around them, Beca loved the way Chloe went through her playlists and the smile she had while they discussed music made Beca feel all warm inside, or maybe it was the fact that they were basically laying on top of each other in the small sunbed, both wearing nothing but their swimming suits, with so much skin on skin contact. Beca was just actively not thinking about that.
Beca tried not to read too much into it when Chloe declined Tom's invitation to sunbathe together – that totally meant “come make out with me for a while” – telling him she’d rather stay there with Beca, but when the redhead turned even Aubrey down, a small pleased smile made its way on her lips.
“Ugh Chloe, you’re really boring when you’re on your period” complained the blonde in front of everyone and Beca furrowed at her “dude, what’s your problem?” she asked and felt Chloe grab her arm “don’t” she whispered before getting up “I’m coming” she sung following Aubrey.
__Oh, her eyes, her eyes, make the stars look like they’re not shining
That night they decided to go to the abandoned lighthouse. The path was so dark they had to use their phone screens or lighters to see where they were placing their feet.
“You could have told us to bring some flashlight or something” commented Stacie. “Yeah, you’re right… sorry” apologized Ashley.
“Okay, what now?” asked Aubrey crossing her arms around her middle, when they reached the end of the pier. “We… lay down and watch the stars” answered Jessica, trying her best to maintain her smile in place – she was clearly struggling with Aubrey’s attitude – so Beca decided to back her up.
“Sounds great to me” she said laying down.
Chloe was the first one to follow her and decided to use Beca stomach as a pillow, making her gulp. Beca didn’t even notice how much Jessica appreciated her gesture, because she was focused on not breathing too much and bother Chloe someway.
One at a time, all the guys laid down beside them, in a Tetris way; each of them was using a part of someone’s body as a pillow – except for Beca, who only put her crumpled hoody under her head – The brunette noticed Tom resting his head on Chloe’s tights, just where her short summer dress ended – they totally had sex already – something about that, incredibly bothered her.
“You guys aren’t going to do it while I’m your pillow, right?” she joked awkwardly and Chloe giggled looking up at her “Don’t worry, we’ll behave” she assured her with a wink that made Beca’s insides melt.
The starry sky was beautiful, the stars shined so brightly in the dark surrounding them that they could spot several shooting stars. Beca was finally enjoying herself; no interactions, no Aubrey – she was somewhere far from Beca and was finally shutting up – if Beca focused hard enough she could pretend it was only her, the stars and Chloe. It felt so good to have the redhead lying comfortably against her, she let her right hand gaze Chloe’s arm, it wasn’t Beca’s fault, it was just their position.
What she didn’t expect was for Chloe to reach out to take that hand and hold it on her own stomach, Beca froze for a moment at the feeling of Chloe’s fingers intertwined with hers, even if that wasn’t the first time.
“Ugh! I’m so bored” wined Aubrey, making Beca almost groan while she rolled her eyes.
“Yeah me, too” agreed Stacie “if we don’t do something now, I’m gonna fall asleep”.
“We could sing something!” suggested Chloe, but the others completely ignored her suggestion.
“Isn’t there a club or something?” asked Tom sitting up.
“Yeah, I wanna dance with some hot girls” exclaimed Bumper getting on his feet.
“Well, there’s a crappy disco club, but there are mostly old creepy men there” hesitantly admitted Ashley.
“Anything would be better than doing nothing here” stated Aubrey getting up.
Beca noticed Chloe huffing and she spoke without thinking “I’m cool staying here, if you want to stay” she whispered to Chloe. The girl suddenly started to sweat, her heart racing.
“Would you do that?” asked the redhead in disbelieve and Beca smiled at her.
“Of course, dude”.
Chloe turned to the others, now all on their feet, waiting for them “You guys go, we’re staying here” she informed them. Tom crouched down to hover over Chloe’s face “you gonna be okay?” he asked and she nodded smiling at him. The guy gave Chloe a quick kiss goodbye before leaving with the others.
Beca was in her head. She thought she had to say something, not to make things awkward, but for some reason she couldn’t stop thinking about Tom; about the fact that, if Chloe were her girlfriend, she would have never left her to go clubbing – if it was up to her she would have stayed there with Chloe stargazing her whole life.
Chloe shivering brought Beca back to reality, she quickly reached for the hoody under her head and offered it to her “cold?”
“Oh, don’t worry, I don’t want to take it from you” declined it Chloe shivering again.
“Shut up, you’re shivering!” stated Beca putting the hoodie on Chloe as a blanket.
“What if you get cold too?”
“You are my blanket” Beca heard herself saying and she widened her eyes.
“Fair enough, but if you get cold, you’re getting it back” intimated the redhead, and squeezed Beca’s hand, she was still holding under the hoodie.
“Okay” agreed Beca – there was no way she would take that hoodie back from her.
“So… your parents let you sleep with Tom?” Beca asked out of the blue.
“Absolutely not” laughed Chloe “officially, I share my hotel room with Stacie. But he has his own room”. Beca bit her tongue for asking – yup, they were definitely doing it.
“Have you ever been with someone?” asked Chloe as if she could read Beca’s mind, it made Beca choke on air and it took her a few coughs to blur a simple “no”.
“What about Jesse?”
Beca rolled her eyes at that “I told you, he’s not my boyfriend” she repeated annoyed
“Stacie says the same about Luke” informed her Chloe and Beca snorted.
“I don’t l-”
“you don’t like him, okay” sighed Chloe “but I think he likes you”.
Beca fell silent for a moment, contemplating that. “It is possible, yes. But does it really matter if I don’t like him back anyway?”
They weren’t staring at the stars anymore; Chloe had turned on her side to look at Beca more comfortably and Beca felt like she was drowning in those ocean blue eyes.
“No” said softly Chloe “but you could like him and not knowing. If Aubrey wouldn’t have told me Tom was into me, making me consider the fact of dating him, we wouldn’t have been together for almost two years now” she added. Beca frowned, could she really feel something for Jesse without knowing it? – she had to admit, she was rather clueless regarding her own feelings. “But maybe that’s not your case” shrugged Chloe.
“You’re different” blurred out Beca and Chloe gave her a questioning look “from the girl I met at dinner” she clarified looking away, suddenly looking at Chloe was too much for her.
“Yeah, about that” sighed the redhead “I owe you an apology, I was kind of a bitch” she said screwing up her face.
“I think you made up for that” Beca chuckled “why did you act like that though?” she asked.
“it’s just that… my parents, they are…” she railed off, so Beca looked at her again “I don’t really like them, or their friends- sorry”.
“Oh no, trust me, no one likes Sheila less than me” scoffed Beca.
“But she seems nice to you, I think being with your father changed her”
“I think she’s just faking it for him” answered Beca, feeling rather uncomfortable talking about her.
“Trust me, I would notice that. I’ve known her my whole life” assured Chloe.
“Why don’t you like your parents?” Beca asked, desperately trying to change the subject.
“They’re just two selfish snobs, who only care about the appearances. Everything must look perfect on the outside, when the truth is that they don’t care about me at all-”
“How can that be true?” interrupted her Beca, genuinely finding it impossible for someone not to care about Chloe.
“They only care that I don’t embarrass them. So I put up with their façade in public, but I ignore them at home.”
Beca found herself squeezing Chloe’s hand in empathy, sensing the deep sadness behind her words.
“I’m sorry I ignored you too, to me you were only Sheila’s new kid” apologized Chloe “and I always ignored her too”
“I’m not her kid” clarified Beca, feeling uneasy “and you said that like if I was a new pair of shoes” she scoffed.
“No oh my god, of course. I- sorry, I didn’t mean it like that” rushed out Chloe “you’re so much more than that, Becs”.
Beca didn’t know if she blushed at that, but she knew for sure that her heart started racing again, so she cleared her throat to dissimulate it “why are you so kind to me all the times?” she asked, genuinely curious about that.
“why not?” asked Chloe smiling and Beca just laughed shaking her head.
“Why are you Aubrey’s friend then?” inquired the brunette. Chloe huffed loudly and Beca feared she overstepped – Aubrey was her best friend after all.
“We grew up together…” she started unsure “I don’t have memories of a time when I didn’t know her”.
Beca could understand that, even if she and Amy had opposite personalities, she grew to love her through time, so she figured it was the same thing for Chloe – Amy was way better than Aubrey though.
“I know she seems awful, but her parents are way worse than mine” continued Chloe “they put on her so many expectations, it’s so much pressure that I don’t know how she doesn’t crack under it” Chloe stopped to clear her throat “if she doesn’t reach their standards they call her a failure, she’s just a teenager!”
The girls talked until 2am before Chloe declared she was tired, so they went back to the hotel.
“Thank you” said Chloe taking off Beca’s hoodie and giving it back to her
“No problem” answered the brunette smiling gently “goodnight”
Her hoodie smell like Chloe now and Beca didn’t stop to wonder why she liked it so much, but she did. She made a mental note to always bring it along, just in case Chloe might need it again.
__My heart it pounds, yeah you got me
Beca wasn’t surprised when the next day Chloe spent more time with Tom, what surprised her was that she joined the group willingly and spent the day with them without hating it. She was pleased to notice that after a few days of knowing these people the effort she had to put in to socialize wasn’t that big anymore, things were starting to feel natural.
They decided – Aubrey decided – to go back to the club that night and Beca really hated the idea. She didn’t dance, no matter how hard Amy had tried, Beca decided that dancing just wasn’t for her.
“That place sucks so bad” said Aubrey for the millionth time and Beca was bold enough to ask her “why are we going then?”
“Because there’s nothing else to do in this fucking place” spat out the blonde rolling her eyes.
Beca found herself isolating again when they started a singing game where one player started singing a song and, on your turn, you had to sing another song starting by one word of the song the other player was singing. If you don’t sing on your turn, you lost.
Beca was close enough to hear them and had a song ready for each turn, she couldn’t help her smile when Chloe started to sing the same song she thought of. When Bumper interrupted her to keep the game going, Beca found herself missing Chloe’s voice for a moment and decided to distract herself not to think about that.
“Why don’t you come playing with us?” asked Chloe, making her jump; the brunette didn’t notice Chloe approaching her.
“I don’t sing” she blurred out.
“This is not a singing contest, it’s just a game. I know you would be very good at-”
“Chloe would you come play? Forget about her” scoffed Aubrey “she’s just being a weirdo as usual”.
Beca sensed Chloe tensing up, she knew the girl was ready to fight Aubrey about that, but she stopped her hushing out a quickly “don’t worry” before getting up from her beach towel “it’s not worth it” she added leaving.
It was shortly after dinner when Chloe showed up at her hotel room “You forgot this on the beach today” she said gently handing her the towel.
“Oh, thanks” answered Beca taking it with a smile and starting to close the door.
“Wait” stopped her the redhead pushing against the wooden surface “can I come in?”
“Sure” said Beca moving out of the way “if this is about what Aubrey said, I’m okay” she assured.
“It isn’t” said Chloe “I mean, yes that too, but mostly I came here to get you ready” she beamed out showing her the beauty case she brought along.
Beca arched an eyebrow “what for?” she asked slightly scared.
“for tonight”
“I’m not coming” scoffed Beca.
“Yes, you are! Beca please, we’re gonna have fun! Do it for me?”
So Beca found herself sitting on a chair in front of the mirror, with Cloe fixing her hair with a curling iron.
“Why do you care so much if I come to this stupid club anyway?” asked Beca struggling to stay still with the burning hot weapon so close to her head.
“I just enjoy your company” Chloe said casually “is it that hard to believe?”
“No, I guess” lied Beca – it was the most impossible think to believe for her, that someone like Chloe wanted to waste her time with her. She was obviously just being nice to the weird kid because she was a nice person.
Beca spent most of the night sitting on a short wall next to the dancefloor, if one could call it that; the ‘club’ was more a bar stand with a large space – probably a dismissed caravan parking site – they put a console, some speakers and stroboscopic lights in. the only good aspect was that they served alcohol without asking for an ID, but the place was depressing and the Dj sucked.
Next to Beca there was Lily – a girl of their group Beca never heard speaking, but who still interacted more than her – who didn’t feel like dancing either apparently. Beca didn’t talk to her, she kept sipping at her Rum and Coke in silence. Beca was definitely not watching Chloe dance against Tom, the way she dipped low and grind against him after rising back up, he was slowly moving behind her, eventually grabbing her hips or bending over to kiss her cheek, neck or anything he could find.
If you ask her, Beca couldn’t tell how, but when she saw the group come back from the dancefloor, she knew Aubrey was about to tell her something stupid, convinced to be extremely funny. “Wow Beca, you’re really having fun tonight huh?” she teased and the brunette just snorted at her, more bothered by the terrible work the ‘Dj’ was doing than by the cheap comments Aubrey could come up with.
She vaguely noticed Just Dance started playing. The mix she just finished making was ten times better than what they were listening to. For a moment she fantasized about taking control of the dj boot and play it, she had it in her iPod after all. Chloe taking her hand brought her back to reality.
“Let’s go dancing!” screamed Chloe, probably because she’d been dancing too close to one of the speakers, tugging at her arm.
“I don’t dance”
“Of course, you don’t” chuckled Chloe “come onnnnn” she whined.
“I don’t even like this song” tried Beca, putting down the empty solo cup she was still holding.
“Liar, I know you love this song, it’s in your playlist!” called her out Chloe “come dance with me, please”
Beca couldn’t resist that smile, her heart started racing; the brunette knew in that moment that she was doomed – she would have done anything Chloe had asked her.
Beca let Chloe drag her in the middle of the dancefloor and felt a shiver when the girl didn’t drop her hand when she started dancing. Beca was frozen, she had no idea what to do, she was the only idiot standing still, but couldn’t convince her body to start moving.
“Dance!” laughed Chloe, gently shaking her by the hand.
“I don’t know how to” she confessed.
Chloe moved impossibly close to her face and Beca’s breath got caught in her throat. “I’m gonna tell you a secret” whispered the redhead “nobody does” she said winking “just move with me”
Beca thought she was going to pass out when Chloe reached out to gently place her hands on Beca’s hips, bringing their bodies together, to rhythmically move against each other. Having the other girl so close made her heart beat unsafely fast. Eventually she started moving on her own to dance with Chloe; the way Chloe pushed her head up, sometimes running her fingers through auburn hair, was unfairly sexy. For the first time Beca didn’t second-guess what was going on; she just kept on dancing, resting her forearms on Chloe’s shoulders. The way Chloe’s looked oat her took her breath away; she blamed it on the alcohol and the loud beat, on the endorphins formed in her system because of all the dancing – probably everybody felt this intoxicated while dancing with someone – everything was normal.
__ She is like a melody in my head That I can't keep out
The rest of the vacation was a blur to Beca. Maybe it’s true what they say about time running faster when you’re having a good time. Beca wouldn’t say she was actually having a good time, she still hated hanging out with people she barely knew and had pretty much nothing in common with – and most of all she still hated Aubrey – but the small moments she got to spend with Chloe were enough to get her by.
Those times Chloe choose to sit on her lap instead of the empty seat that was too far from her, or when she randomly took her hand or started lightly brushing her fingertips on her harm in that relaxing way – that did everything but relax Beca, if she was honest – or even the casual touches, those Beca wasn’t even sure Chloe did on purpose. Those moments were all Beca could think about. Chloe was all Beca could think about.
It wasn’t unusual for them to listen to Beca’s iPod together while eating lunch or while the others went jumping from the riff; something that Beca found very funny, but that Chloe hated, so Beca decided to pass on that too, just to spend more time alone with the redhead.
“What is this?” Asked the redhead scrolling through the songs “Beca-mix_1"
Beca’s eyes widened and she jumped to take the iPod from Chloe, but she was too slow, and swallowed hard hearing the first notes of it playing in her ear.
“Did you make this?” asked Chloe in shock.
“Yeah...” shyly admitted the brunette.
“Beca this is amazing!”
“You like it?” asked Beca in disbelief.
“I love it!” gasped Chloe in awe “Beca, you’re so talented!”
“I- thank yo-"
“Did you make others?”
“No, I mean yes, but they’re crap. This is the first one I liked enough to save it" explained Beca scratching at the back of her head.
She had never let anyone listen to her mixes – not even Amy – and she’d never thought Chloe of all people would have been the first one to hear it. For some reason Chloe’s opinion meant the world to her, and the fact that she liked something she made, gave her a weird kind of high she’d never experienced before.
__Feels like I’ve waited so long for this, I wonder if it shows
One night, after they said goodbye to the others, the  core group decided to stay up until dawn instead of going to sleep, so they sneaked Luke – who always walked Stacie to the hotel to steal one last kiss – in and went on the roof of the hotel, that was full equipped with chairs, sofas and sunbeds. Beca opted for a hammock, while the others were gathering their seats in a circle-like form next to her.
“Scoot" intimated her Chloe wanting to fit on the hammock with her, but Beca didn’t move. “fine, I’m just gonna lay on top of you then" threatened the redhead trying to climb on the hammock and risking flipping it.
“Okay, okay. Jesus!” laughed Beca making room for Chloe next to her.
“Do you two need a room?” joked Stacie.
“I’m totally on board with that babe!” added Tom laughing.
“Who told you you’re invited?” teased Chloe with a smug smile.
Beca knew they were all kidding, but she couldn’t stop her face to turn bright red and her heart to beat so fast she was afraid Chloe could feel it hammer against her chest.
“Beca you wanna smoke?” asked her Luke lighting up yet another joint.
“No thanks, I’m gonna pass" she declined, for Chloe obviously; she didn’t want to bother the redhead, since she knew the girl couldn’t stand the smell of it. Beca didn’t know if she was hoping that Chloe noticed she was doing it for her or not, but when Chloe turned to whisper to her “it’s okay if you wanna smoke, it doesn’t bother me" she felt her stomach flip.
“Aw Beca, your alt girl days are ending already?” mocked her Aubrey.
“Aubrey why don’t you try smoking a little? It will relax you! And while you’re at it you can also try getting off my case for once?” she spat out.
“Woooooah" cheered Bumper and everyone – except for Aubrey, obviously – started laughing.
It didn’t take long for Chloe to fall asleep, Beca had put her hoodie on the both of them as a blanket and made sure not to raise her voice too much while laughing and chatting with the others. After a while the group started to run out of energy; Tom was checking his phone, Stacie and Luke were just making out and Aubrey was busy convincing Bumper that nothing would ever happen between the two of them.
Beca took the opportunity to lose herself in her thoughts; in the fact that, even if she’d always hated physical contact, to have Chloe sleeping cuddled up on her felt so nice. She didn’t want to elaborate the feeling, nice was enough for now, it was too soon to let her mind analyse the way her body felt warmer every time Chloe as much as looked her way, or the way her heart beat out of time. It was too dangerous to get an answer to why that happened to her every time Chloe was around.
She noticed the guys decided to go to give up, too tired to wait for the sunrise, and she decided to pretend she was asleep, not ready to give up laying there with Chloe yet.
“Chlo, come on, we’re going to sleep" tried Tom, but the redhead didn’t give him any response, other than a soft snore.
After a few minutes of trying, Aubrey got annoyed “let’s just leave them" she said, “I’m going to bed" and left.
Beca heard Tom standing there pondering the situation for a moment, before deciding to leave too.
The morning after Beca was awakened by the sun burning hot on her face; that and the hoodie worked together to generate an uncomfortable heat, making them both sweat. A soft groan escaped her, she didn’t mean to really fall asleep, she just wanted a few more minutes before waking Chloe up and going to their respective hotel rooms.
They had shifted during the night and Beca soon found out that she couldn’t move without waking Chloe up some way; the redhead was half on top of her, using her shoulder as a pillow and their limbs were intertwined. Beca’s left arm – the one laying under Chloe’s body – was numb, but somehow Beca didn’t hate any of that.
Chloe’s smell surrounding her and the weight of the girl on her made Beca feel things she’d never felt before. If it was anyone else, Beca would have rung for the hills, but there was something different about this girl, something special, that didn’t scare her. If anything, it made her feel brave.
Beca didn’t realise her hand was on Chloe’s hip, until the girl shifted beneath it while turning around, she turned too much and Beca had to catch her before she fell down the hammock. The brunette knew it would have given away the fact that she was awake, but she figured that falling down the hammock wouldn’t have been a really nice way to wake up.
“Nice catch" mumbled Chloe rubbing her eyes, still a little shook for her almost fall “were you awake?”
“Yeah I just woke up" confessed Beca “I couldn’t move though”.
“Why didn’t you wake me up?” asked the redhead still half asleep – she looked adorable.
“I don’t know, it seemed rude" laughed Beca.
__ I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by
The last day of vacation came way too soon. Beca spent the day with a heavy feeling on her stomach, due to the awareness that everything was ending. Back in Atlanta things won’t be the same as they were now, they were going back to reality, a reality where Beca can’t spend every day with Chloe listening to music and just being.
It was bittersweet to see her same gloom mirrored in Chloe’s behavior; it felt nice to know that Chloe was sad about giving up what they had now, but that only confirmed Beca’s conviction that everything was about to change for them.
The evening went by in the blink of an eye and the group was finishing dinner in the big hotel’s dining room.
“Are we going to stay up tonight? For real I mean" asked Tom chewing the last bite of his steak.
“Of course we are, that’s our last night" answered Bumper “but we have to sneak in everyone this time, I know Florencia will give in tonight" he added making the others roll their eyes.
“Leave that poor girl alone, she doesn’t know how to tell you anymore, she’s not interested” spat out Stacie.
“That’s the point, she doesn’t know how to say no anymore, so she might say yes" he explained wiggling his eyebrows.
“Ugh, dude that’s fucked up!” groaned Beca pushing her plate away.
“Are we going to sneak in some booze too or we gonna behave?” asked Chloe biting her lip.
“We’re obviously sneaking some alcohol in, Chloe. I can’t stand those idiots when I’m sober" scolded her Aubrey.
“Ugh true” laughed Stacie, igniting a general laugh.
This was one of the things Beca couldn’t stand about this group, they were always talking shit about people behind their backs and pretend to like them when they were around. It wasn’t even true that they didn’t like them, they just needed to be assholes sometimes and make fun of other people. Even Chloe let herself get involved in their behavior – something she had to do to adapt to the group, for sure – and that was probably the only thing Beca didn’t like about her. Beca was sure they did the same thing with her too and the thought made her feel sick.
That night there was an unspoken agreement between the girls, to keep Flo away from Bumper for as long as they could; he was harmless, but all of them knew how annoying he could get and they didn’t want Flo to give in just to make him stop – even Aubrey seemed to care about that and did her part.
As soon as they got to the roof, they rushed to find a seat.
“Becs, come sit with me?” suggested Chloe gesturing towards the hammock and Beca felt her stomach do that flip she was used to by now.
“No way!” shouted Bumper “the hammock is mine tonight! Miss Fuentes, care to join me?” he said all charming after occupying the hammock.
“She won’t. She’s sitting next to me" ordered Aubrey patting the empty chair next to her sofa, as if she was calling a dog.
Flo sat down next to her whispering a hushed “thank you".
Chloe ended up sitting on Tom’s lap and Beca curled up in a sofa a couple of seats from them.
They decided to play ‘never have I ever’ and Beca thought she was winning when she realized she hadn’t done most of the things they were mentioning; she only drank once when Chloe said “Never have I ever smoked pot".
She learned a lot of things she didn’t care about but that Amy would have loved to know; she learned that Aubrey got blackout drunk and spent the night with her face in the water, that Luke was actually pretty good in school and that Stacie – and Bumper apparently, but no one really believed him – was in a threesome once.
When it came her turn, she smirked devilishly, convinced that what she was about to say would have made everyone drink – something nobody succeeded with yet – “Never have I ever… kissed someone” she proudly declared.
The group fell silent for a moment.
“What?” spat out Aubrey suddenly, unable to keep her laugh in anymore.
“You can’t be serious” added Stacie shocked.
“I mean we can make up for that if you want, we have Bumper who would kiss anything as long as it moves" chuckled Aubrey.
Beca stood there while everyone was laughing at her, she didn’t know what the hell made her think it was something to brag about – to be 16 and haven’t kissed anyone yet – she felt her eyes sting, she knew she was about to tear up, but was trying to hold back with everything she had, she couldn’t give them any more reasons to laugh at her.
“I don’t think it’s funny" said Chloe.
“Come on babe, you have to admit it is a little funny" said Tom still giggling.
It made Chloe stand up from his lap and turn around to glare at him “okay, whatever, it’s not funny" he agreed, trying to get her to sit back on his lap, Chloe angrily freed her hand from his grasp and walked away from him, towards Beca.
“Can I sit with you?” she asked gently.
“Sure" quickly answered the brunette trying to make as much room as she could for Chloe to sit next to her.
“I don’t wanna play this game anymore” she declared.
“Babe I’m cold, come back here" complained Tom.
“You know I can’t stand you when you act like an asshole”.
It didn’t take long for Chloe to curl up into Beca while they were listening to one of Flo’s weird stories. Beca wasn’t listening to her at all, she was focused on the feeling of having Chloe curled up on her for the last time in who knows how long.
When the sun started rising, Beca felt there was something final about it. Her last sunrise with Chloe. It was like time was slipping from her hands and there was nothing to do about it.
“Shouldn’t we clean up this mess?” asked Chloe when the guys started to say goodbye to each other.
“People are paid to do it, Chloe” told her Aubrey in her usual smartass tone.
Beca had an earlier flight than the rest of the group because her father had to be back in Atlanta sooner, so she had to say goodbye to Chloe at the hotel, while the others got to take her same plane. Beca awkwardly waved the group goodbye before pushing her suitcase in the back of the taxi and when she turned around Chloe crushed into her, hugging her tight.
“Have a safe flight" she whispered in Beca’s ear.
“Yeah you too" told her the brunette pulling back from the hug with a soft smile.
When she climbed into the taxi Sheila was looking at her proudly “I told you, you were gonna become friends" she all but beamed.
“Whatever” huffed Beca before putting her headphones on. She felt bad about being rude to Sheila – that’s a first, she thought – but it lasted for almost five seconds, before she turned around to see Chloe waving her goodbye from the sidewalk.

"Fiction gives us the second chance that life denies us." — Paul Theroux
I started writing this story with this quote in mind, it is pretty much about a very important period of my life — or rather about how I wish things had turned out — I obviously adapted my story to the characters which inevitabily caused fiction and reality to blend in together.
I usually don't like canon divergent fictions, or at least I don't like to write them, but I needed to get this story out and that's the only way I know how.
There's a girl who gives a shit, behind this wall (you just walked through it)

I don't need much of anything, but suddenly…
“How does it feel to be / Different from me      Are we the same / How does it feel?”
That night Beca fell asleep with the smell of Chloe on her pillow, which made her heart do funny things in her chest.
Maybe Chloe wasn’t that bad after all.
Nothing changed at school between them, Chloe didn’t talk to her the next day or the following couple of weeks – not that Beca tried to talk to Chloe but, you know – Beca told herself she wasn’t disappointed at that. They weren’t friends.
 __
“Beca wait!" she heard Chloe call after her and immediately turned around to see the redhead running towards her in the schoolyard “hey! What’s up?” asked Beca unable to control her grin. Chloe offered her a pink ear bug, smiling brightly “I wanted to ask you what you think of this song, it came out yesterday I think".
Beca took the ear bug and put it in her ear, the song was already playing but she knew right away it was Airplanes by B.o.B. ft. Hayley Williams “you like Paramore, right?” Chloe checked and Beca was surprised that the girl not only recognized them from one of her playlists, but she knew them well enough to know Hayley Williams was the singer of the group.
Beca’s smile widened while she nodded “yes! And I think this song is really good" she answered looking at Chloe with surprise “what?” giggled the redhead “nothing...” said Beca looking at her feet “I didn’t think you liked this stuff" she admitted looking back at Chloe.
“And what stuff you thought I liked?” asked Chloe biting her lip “I don’t know... Britney Spears?” guessed Beca screwing up her nose and Chloe gasped “you don’t like Britney Spears?” she gasped in shock tugging at the ear bug wire to make it pop out of Beca’s ear “ouch! I didn’t say that...”
“Who else do you think I listen to? Let’s see" asked Chloe in somewhat of a teasing tone “I don’t know, I don’t want to get in worse trouble that I’m in already... just tell me you don’t listen to Mariah Carey please"
“Mariah Carey is the greatest singer of all times" stated an irritating voice interrupting them “Chloe, I’ve been looking for you everywhere. Who is that?” asked the blonde girl who joined them “hey Bree, she’s Beca... family friends” dismissed Chloe, putting her iPod away. Beca didn’t know why that statement stung so much, it was the truth after all, they only knew each other because their parents – not that she’ll ever consider Sheila family – were friends.
Aubrey – Chloe’s best friend, for what Beca could understand – looked at her from head to toe in disapproval, before turning back to her friend “come on, Stacie is waiting for us” she said walking away and dragging Chloe alongside with her.
“Bye...” Beca told to no one, since the girls were already gone. She went to class wondering if maybe she was wrong about Chloe and they could be more alike than she though, but even popular girls are allowed to like good music, right?
One thing was sure, Chloe wasn’t even remotely as mean as Aubrey was.
 __
At lunch Beca was glad Jesse decided to sit with Benji for once, instead of bothering her, so she could make a playlist of songs she thought Chloe might listen to, and one of those she thought Chloe should listen to.
Amy slept in and skipped school that day – something she did almost every Tuesday – so Beca didn’t have to worry about her either.
 __
“sorry if I stood you up at lunch" apologised Jesse wrapping an arm around her shoulders, knowing very well that Beca would have shrugged it off and be dramatic about him touching her. He giggled when she did just that “you weren’t at my table? I didn’t notice” declared Beca in a monotone voice and Jesse pushed her gently “stop iit" she complained pushing him back “Benji was upset about his chemistry test" he explained without Beca asking “but he got B+” argued Beca and the guy shrugged “it’s the lowest he ever got".
“Where’s Amy by the way? I saw she wasn’t with you at lunch either” he asked “are you going to walk me home?” queried Beca stopping on her tracks – it was a ten minute walk between her house and the school – Jesse shrugged again “if you don’t mind. I don’t have anything better to do anyway" and before Beca could answer, he added “I know you must have missed me today, so you’re welcome" which granted him another shove from the brunette.
“How come you're not wearing your headphones?” “my iPod died at lunch" “aw, because I wasn’t there to keep you company?” he teased “you’re an idiot.”
 __
The truth was that Beca craved more moments with Chloe, she was intrigued by her. Even if she usually was a pretty good judge of character, she was wrong about Chloe the first time and she still couldn’t completely figure her out yet. At school Chloe was a completely different person than who she was at home, she was nice to everyone and always smiling. And then there was that moment they shared in Beca’s room, that was what confused Beca the most, making her second guess all her assumptions about the redhead.
She wanted to get to know her better, but whenever Beca saw the girl in the hallways with her stupid friends she didn’t have the guts to say hi to her and just focused very hard on her steps to avoid eye contact. Beca hated to interact with that kind of people – she hated to interact with any kind of people – they acted like they owned the school and even if Beca couldn’t care less about that, she didn’t want to waste her time feeling judged by them or worse, letting them make a fool out of her. She really didn’t know why Chloe liked them, but again, she didn’t know Chloe at all.
Another month passed by. Beca never showed Chloe the playlists. It wasn’t important and Chloe probably wouldn’t care about that anyway.
 __
“Why is this playlist called ‘Chloe'?” asked Amy making Beca’s blood freeze “that- that’s nothing, why do you always touch my stuff?” she gasped struggling to take the device from Amy, who won the fight without any effort “Jonas Brothers? These songs are so not you" added the blonde confused “It’s just... stupid songs, so I gave it a common stupid girl name” she blurred out wincing at her own words.
Amy narrowed her brows “Isn’t Chloe the name of that redhead you met at those ‘fucking lame dinners' with your father and Sheila?” she inquired making the quote marks gesture while repeating Beca’s words “maybe... I don’t know” tried Beca but she knew she was screwed “Beca...” said Amy not buying it at all.
“Yes, it’s her, okay? I made a playlist of songs I thought she lik-" “you never made me a playlist” interrupted her the blonde “that’s different, she’s- that’s different” blurred out Beca. Amy finally decided to let it go with a shrug connecting her loudspeaker to Beca’s iPod, letting the music fill her bedroom.
 __
“Ugh! Why can’t I just stay with mom?” growled Beca “a couple of weeks at the beach are going to be good for you Bec, why do you have to fight me over everything?” asked her father “I don’t wanna come, dad I wanna work on my mixes, why don’t you understand that?” she whined and ran to her room smashing the door closed behind her.
Her father just informed her that in July they were going on a two weeks’ vacation someplace in Florida with Chloe’s and other two families the Beale used to go on vacation with every year. Beca didn’t have the time to be thrilled about it that she heard the name Posen being mentioned by Sheila. She didn’t even register the other one because she was already spiralling.
Posen like Aubrey Posen. The high bitch in charge at her school, Aubrey Posen. Chloe’s best friend Aubrey Posen. That couldn’t be a coincidence and Beca wasn’t willing to spend a single minute with her, let alone two entire weeks.
“Why is she like this Robert?” she heard Sheila question “what kind of kid doesn’t want to spend time on the beach with her friends?” at the world ‘friends’ Beca felt rage build up inside her – why was Sheila so fucking naive? – but it didn’t last long, because she heard her father sigh defeated “I don’t know honey, I’m afraid I did something wrong with her".
Beca put her headphones on trying to push back the tears that started falling from her eyes.
 __
“She doesn’t want me, does she?” mumbled Beca sitting on her bed, knees pushed tightly against her chest. Her father looked at her sympathetic, sitting at the edge of the bed “Your mom is...” he trailed off for a moment, struggling to find the right words “she is having a hard time and needs to be alone for a while" he tried his best to explain “but she loves you! More than anything” he rushed to add and Beca rolled her eyes.
Lately her father did nothing but take her mother’s side, funny thing is that when they were married, they couldn’t agree on anything. Ever. Beca supposed he felt guilty about her ‘midlife crisis’ since it started just when he asked for a divorce because he couldn’t keep going on like that – or maybe it was the fact that he was in a relationship with stupid Sheila for about a month before that.
Beca’s blood started boiling in her veins at the thought, it was his fault after all, he gave up on their family.
“I’m gonna go at Amy’s” she spat out jumping off the bed.
“Beca, I need you to tell me you’re coming to Florida” he repeated.
“Whatever” answered the girl before leaving the room. It’s not like she had a choice anyway, her dad was just trying not to feel guilty about yet another thing.
 __
“So, you’re going?” asked Amy passing her the joint. They were laying on Amy’s bed listening to music, as always.
“I have to" sighed Beca before smoking “I wish my dad was like yours, he lets you do everything you want" she wined “yeah he's pretty cool" laughed the blonde “or too busy to care maybe" she scoffed carelessly “dude, this pot sucks by the way" growled Beca giving the joint back to her.
Amy took another smoke before agreeing “I know, but I bought it from Luke" she explained “ugh, that dude is an idiot! He wrote ‘Meghan’ on my fake ID” complained Beca. The blonde stared lamely at her for what felt like forever, before cracking up in a loud laugh “Beca all fake IDs have fake names" she gasped trying to stop laughing. Beca looked at her blinking quickly before starting to laugh too.
“Anyway, he is an idiot yes, but he’s hot, so I don’t care" stated Amy “okay but never buy his pot again" demanded the brunette taking back the joint.
“So how are things going with Jesse?” asked Amy out of the blue “what do you mean?” “I mean you have this thing going on for a while now, when are you going to make it official? If you know what I mean...” said Amy wiggling her eyebrows, Beca felt slightly nauseous at that.
“There’s nothing between Jesse and me" she said defensively “oh come on Beca, you two are always attached to the hip!” growled the blonde “you don’t have to hide it from me" she said more softly “he's always attached to my hip I've got nothing to do with that!" spat out Beca getting up “I know you, you wouldn’t let him near you if you didn’t want to" pointed out Amy.
Beca knew her friend was right, she never let anyone get too close to her, but for some reason she allowed Jesse to do that and she had to admit she liked having his invasive ass around – not to Amy anyway, she was never going to admit that to Amy.
“That’s none of your business” she cut off rising the volume on her iPod to end the discussion.
 __
When Beca came back home she found a brand-new soundboard to connect to her computer – the one she’s been asking for and her dad always denied her – sitting on her desk.
It was the same way she got her headphones, she got into a fight with her dad about something concerning the divorce somehow, stormed out of the house and found them at her return. Robert knew it wasn’t the best way to deal with conflict, but he really didn’t know how to deal with a teenager in full rebellion mood, so expensive gifts were his go-to in these cases.  It wasn’t enough for Beca, but she decided to take what she could from this situation. She didn’t like to deal with conflict either anyway.
The girl spent the whole night trying all the functions her new device offered while thinking about Chloe. She spent most nights thinking about Chloe recently. She thought about what it must be like being at the verge of the high school social ladder, having everyone’s eyes on you all the times – a kind of pressure Beca couldn’t be able to stand, for sure – how it felt to be respected, feared even, by the whole school and mostly how would it feel to be bossed around by Aubrey all the times.
Aubrey gave Beca chills. It wasn’t that Beca feared her – she didn’t fear anyone – but there was something about her that made her stomach clench, as if she was under examination. She knew Aubrey judged everybody from her high throne and Beca didn’t think enough of her to care about that, but what scared the brunette was that Aubrey’s stupid opinion could affect what Chloe thought of her.
By the time sun started creeping up from her window, she had decided that suffering through two weeks with Aubrey Posen was a small price to pay to get to know Chloe better. Her social anxiety will have to come to terms with that.
Beca threw herself on the bed, cursing her decision to staying up all night on a weekday. Her clock showed it was half past six and she briefly wondered if she could push it a little and try to gain a ‘you can skip school today’ too from the argument she and her father had, but she knew Professor Mitchell considered school the most important thing ever, even over the peaceful atmosphere he tried so hard to maintain in their home. She groaned and set her alarm to an hour later before falling asleep in her outside clothes.
Of course, she didn’t hear the alarm going off and now she was super late. As she fumed to gather all the things she needed for the day she jumped at the sight of Sheila’s head peeking from her not-closed-anymore bedroom door.
“You’re late" she stated with that irritating tone Beca really didn’t want to hear first thing in the morning.
“I know that, thanks” spat out the teenager.
“Let me drive you to school” offered the woman now fully standing in Beca’s room.
“Absolutely not" said Beca without looking at her, still busy looking for her maths' notes.
“You left a notebook in the kitchen the other day, maybe that’s what you’re looking for" told her Sheila before leaving the room.
After getting ready Beca went to the kitchen and found the notes. Sheila was sitting at the kitchen table, probably waiting for her. Beca groaned “okay let’s go" as if she was the one doing the woman a favour.
Beca was sure it was a trap, so she rushed to put her headphones on to avoid any unwanted discussion about her weird behaviour or whatever. Surprisingly Sheila didn’t try to talk to her at all and when she stopped in front of Beca’s school she even offered the girl a sweet smile “have a good day”.
“Yeah...” murmured Beca under her breath before leaving the car.
 __
It was a shitty day, like if she was under a heavy cloud; she forgot to charge her phone, her head was killing her and Jesse didn’t shut up for one second all morning, not to mention math class – which was always a nightmare. Beca was about to commit murder when suddenly Chloe approached her at her locker.
“Hey" breathed out cheerfully the redhead and Beca found her breath catching in her lungs “I’ve heard you’re coming to Florida with us this year” she continued with her classic bright smile. Beca’s heart started racing and she was positive her face was red “I- yes, we- uh...” she rambled focusing, on nothing in particular, inside her locker. “I’m glad you’re coming" at that Beca forced herself to look at Chloe and try to mirror her smile.
“Hey babe" she heard Tom call from the other side of the hallway. Chloe turned towards him with heart eyes and accepted his kiss when he reached them. Beca felt nauseous watching that – she hated pda and cheesy happy couples.
When they parted Tom friendly nodded at Beca “hi, I’m Tom" “Beca" she said shaking the hand he offered her. Beca tried to smile at him, she really did, but all she could manage was a grimace. The girl was never so glad to hear Jesse’s “Beccaaawww" approaching her.
“Uhm, sorry, I have to go. It was nice meeting you Tom. Bye Chloe" se excused herself locking the metallic door and walking to Jesse. It was the first time she’d ever said Chloe’s name to her face and was still marvelling at the sensation it gave her, when Jesse started to throw a million words at her again, but she couldn’t focus on him at all. For some reason she kept replaying that stupid kiss in her brain over and over again.
“Earth to Beca?” called her Jesse snapping his fingers in front of her “what happened to you? You’ve been weird the whole day" he asked in a somewhat of a worried tone “I didn’t sleep" she told him “why not? You can talk to me you know” he assured her, but behind him Beca spot Amy in the distance shamelessly gesturing at her with her index finger entering a ring she was making with the other hand “gross...” whispered Beca glaring at her.
“What?” asked the guy confused “dude you need to leave me alone okay? You’re not my fucking boyfriend” she snapped making some students turn to look at them. Jesse was staring at her with a hurt expression and she regretted right away snapping at him – it was Amy’s fault not his.
“All right” he said raising his hands and turning no leave. Beca wanted to stop him, but she was too proud to apologise.
“Troubles in paradise?” asked Amy joining her “Amy fuck off!” “geez somebody woke up on the wrong side of life today" she exclaimed rolling her eyes and walking away, she knew it was best to leave Beca alone when she was like that.

High school au set somewhere around 2009 - it’s gonna be a multichapter but I don’t have a title for it yet… Avril Lavigne is gonna be the soundtrack for this 💜
Beca is an introverted fifteen years old who loves music and is about to start high school. Chloe is The Popular Girl™ and they meet because their parents are friends. There’s a lot of Jesse but Bechloe is gonna be endgame (obviously) It’s supposed to be a slow burn but i’m an impatient idiot so we’ll see about that…

Please tell me what is taking place (‘cause I can’t seem to find a trace)
“Bec, can you please be nice tonight? It would mean a lot to Sheila and me" repeated her father for the millionth time. Beca just sighed heavily at that and crossed her arms around her chest. They’ve talked about that ad nauseam, there was no way for her to get out of this stupid dinner at Sheila’s friends.
Sheila – a.k.a. the step monster – was the most irritating being on the planet. Beca was sure she only acted nice to her to make a show for her father and actually hated Beca just as much as Beca hated her.
“Oh come on sweetie, they have a daughter your age, I’m sure you’ll become very fast friends” she promised in that annoying high pitched tone she had “I don’t want to make any friends” Beca grumbled and could swear she heard Sheila whisper something to her father about her being weird and having no friends, but decided to ignore that.
She didn’t need new friends, she had Amy and that was enough – more than enough sometimes – Amy was a lot, mostly to someone as introverted as Beca, her loudness and recklessness were pretty hard to handle, but they knew each other since forever and Amy stood by Beca’s side during her parents’ divorce, which meant the world to Beca.
“Come on kiddo, I’m sure you’ll like her. She goes to Barden high, so you can ask her advices for next year" said her father turning in his seat after parking the car “so she’s older than me!” stated Beca “oh for God’s sake what’s one year, specially at your age?” gasped Sheila, her nice facade starting to crack at Beca’s brattyness “never mind" spat out Beca under her breath getting out of the car.
Her father stopped her when he saw she was about to put her big headphones over her ears “don’t make me take these away from you" he warned her with a glare, so she just snorted and left them hanging around her neck.
__
Beca suffered immensely all through dinner, Chloe – the girl she was supposed to become best friends with to please Sheila – was hideous, she barely introduced herself without stopping pushing the buttons on her Blackberry, obviously more interested in her text than in Beca. Her parents were two pompous idiots – just how Beca imagined Sheila’s friends would be.
As soon as they finished eating, Chloe left the table without even excusing herself, focusing on her phone again.
“Chloe why don’t you show Becky your room, honey?” encouraged Chloe’s mother “sure" answered the redhead without any kind of emotion and left.
Beca gulped, she didn’t know what to do – was she supposed to just follow her? Did she had to wait there for Chloe to come back and invite her to her room? – it was clear that Chloe didn’t want her in her room.
“Beca? Go" pushed her Sheila and the girl found herself following Chloe’s path, she thought she heard someone whisper “that kid is so weird" but she shook it off, too focused on how weird she felt to intrude into a stranger’s room like that.
It turned out that Chloe didn’t mind her intrusion – one could say she didn’t even notice it, if not for the short nod she gave Beca along with a “this is it" before sitting in front of her computer and spending the night chatting on MSN.
After standing awkwardly in Chloe’s room for some moments, Beca decided to sit down on a pink fluffy bean bag sofa and finally put her headphones on. She spent the night with her iPod Classic, as she did most of the times.
Beca had the time to properly look at Chloe, to study her – something she liked to do with people.
The sixteen year old was definitely a popular girl in school – definitely someone Beca would have never wanted to be friends with – she seemed to be coming straight out of Mean Girls – that stupid Lindsey Lohan high school movie Amy made her watch once.
A shiver run down Beca’s spine. She didn’t love the idea of starting high school at all, with all those jocks and beautiful girls who thought they were better than anyone else – Beca could totally see Chloe being one of them.
Chloe was undeniably attractive, the computer light flashing on her face highlighted the perfect traits of her face and the sharp angle of her jawline, her red hair was coming down in large soft waves and her soft blue eyes made her look like a Disney princess. Her slender fingers flew quickly over the keyboard of her computer while she replied to the dozens of beeping notifications blowing up on her screen. Beca had to look away, feeling a weird grasp at her stomach she’d never felt before.
__
To Beca’s displeasure these stupid dinner dates became a thing, and she was forced to see that girl at least a couple of days per month, even if Chloe seemed to have the power to defect those events, since she never showed up when the dinners were at Beca’s father’s.
Beca wasn’t sorry about that, she was just upset she didn’t have the same luxury.
Chloe smiled at her once, greeting her with a soft “hi" when the brunette went to her house to yet another dinner, and Beca kept thinking about how warm that made her feel for a long time – because it caught her off guard obviously, she wasn’t expecting that, it’s not like she stopped thinking about how beautiful Chloe looked when she genuinely smiled or why she smiled at her anyway.
__
Months passed and it came the time for Beca to start high school. Amy was out of her mind excited about that and it only made Beca more nervous.
Her first day – the first month even – could have been described with one word, better yet a name: Jesse.
Jesse was in most of her classes and for some reason he was obsessed with her. He managed to learn more about her in only the first week than most people have ever tried to know in her life – he asked so many questions.
At first Beca was annoyed by him and tried to avoid the guy every time she spotted his stupid face in the hallway or at the cafeteria, but it was pointless because Jesse always managed to find her. Amy even started to tease her about her new boyfriend and Beca hated it.
She started to get used to his intrusive presence somewhere during week two, when he casually mentioned a concert of a Sum41 cover band he was sure she would have liked.
It opened up a crack in the big wall she spent so long building up – obviously what Jesse was trying to do since day one – but she didn’t push him away like she would have done with any other intruder trying to tear her defences apart, she instead decided to show him something she considered super intimate and private, something she had never shown to anyone before, she decided to show him one of her playlists.
She even agreed to go with him to the concert – telling herself she really wanted to see the band and couldn’t go without the fake ID Jesse had promised her.
Thinking about it, it didn’t take a genius to understand Beca would have liked such topic. After all, the girl always wore her headphones and from her style – heavy dark eyeliner, pierced ears, studded bracelet and dark boots – it wasn’t that hard to guess her musical tastes either.
“I knew you liked Avril Lavigne” was his first reaction scrolling through the titles in her iPod, Beca blushed at that; there were many other artists on there, such as Linkin Park, Green Day, Evanescence, Blink182… and he decided to point out the one that meant more to her.
“I love her, I think she’s great" he added pressing play on Sk8er Boi “you kinda remind me of her" he shouted over the sound filling his ears. Beca’s eyes widened for a moment and she looked around the schoolyard to check if he had drawn any attention towards them, she still couldn’t believe she was letting him use her headphones.
__
“It’s Be c a, with one c" she repeated to the guy who was paying very little attention to her anyway – Luke apparently.
“All right guys, it’s gonna be 50 bucks each and it’ll take a couple of days” he said looking at them with a charming smile “to pay now" he clarified clearing his throat and Jesse rushed to pay him “thanks Johnny. I’ll reach out to you when I got them" he said before leaving.
“It’s Jesse…” sighed Jesse when Luke already had left.
“Dude, I’m giving you the money first thing tomorrow, don’t think I’m letting you pay for my ID" “I could’ve never thought something like that" he joked smiling at her.
Okay so maybe Jesse became her friend and maybe Beca liked that – not that she would admit it.
__
After a month Beca thought she was starting to get used to the whole high school thing and she had to admit it wasn’t as bad as she thought, classes were boring and had nothing useful to form her regarding what she really wanted to do in life, but at least she had Amy and Jesse to lighten her mood.
The brunette was walking down the hallway, headphones on as usual, when she saw Chloe. Beca’s breath caught in her lungs at the sight of the redhead leaned against her locker animatedly chatting with a group of friends. She looked so different from the girl she was used to see at dinners; she looked radiant, like a ray of sunshine. Beca could tell all her friends were hypnotized by her energy and enthusiasm.
The sudden collision with a guy running in her opposite direction brought her back to reality “Dude! What the fuck?“ she hissed, but the guy didn’t bother stopping to check on her, so Beca shook her head and walked to her classroom. She didn’t notice Chloe looking at her.
From that moment Beca’s high school experience became a little different, she was always looking out for any signs of Chloe, she turned her head at any glimpse of red hair around a corner or every time she heard a particular kind of giggle – yes, she stopped wearing headphones in the hallways just to hear that – she’d even learned the faces of those she believed to be Chloe’s best friends and, obviously, her boyfriend – Tom, or something.
During the course of the first semester there had been almost zero dinners and her father told her she didn’t have to attend them because he was sure she was busy with homework, so the only occasions she had to see Chloe were those when she ran into her at school – not that she cared – they never interact and Beca understood, Chloe was a popular girl and with that role you have to maintain the appearances, she couldn’t risk to be seen interacting with some freshman alt girl just because they ate at the same table a couple of times, it wasn’t like they were friends anyway.
__
Beca was nervous. She would have never expected to open her front door to find Chloe Beale standing in front of her. She felt her ears heating up when the girl smiled at her “h-hi… you’re here too” she babbled hating herself immediately, but Sheila appearing behind her to greet the Beale family gave her enough time to disappear into the kitchen.
Now they were in Beca’s room after dinner. Chloe didn’t feel as awkward as Beca did entering her room all those months ago – or as awkward as she felt right now, for what is worth – she immediately made herself at home sitting on Beca’s bed, bounching on it a little while looking around.
Beca blushed at the amount of posters – mainly Avril posters – hanging on her walls. Her room was much darker than Chloe’s and she was sure the redhead must have thought she was a freak.
“I like your room, it’s pretty cool" “…you do?” asked Beca in shock “yes! And your bed is so much softer than mine" added Chloe lying down. Beca was silent for a while, her brain was filled with so many thoughts she couldn’t speak, she’s never been good with words anyway.
Beca gasped when she saw Chloe stretch to reach for the iPod and headphones resting on her bedside table but couldn’t stop her from taking them.
“What do you always listen to anyway?” asked Chloe sitting back up “beside Avril Lavigne” she added with a giggle that made Beca feel more attacked than she should have, the brunette moved to sit on her bed next to Chloe and took the device from her, holding it protectively against her chest “stuff… you wouldn’t like it" she scoffed “try me" said Chloe tilting her head, smile still in place.
Beca couldn’t find it in herself to say no.
They laid on her bed with her headphones placed between them, listening to Beca’s playlist until Chloe drifted off to sleep. Beca kept laying beside her, looking at the redhead sleep on her pillow and completely ignoring the weird feeling she had in the pit of her stomach that was starting to be something not unusual when it came to Chloe.

Come home to my heart
“I think you should tell her, before it’s too late" said Amy with a casual tone and Beca felt that clamp at her stomach intensify, she scoffed “and what am I supposed to say? I’ve been in love with you for as long as I can remember but I’ve never had the guts to tell y-“ “Absolutely not!” Interrupted her Aubrey in a strict tone, she seemed mad even “she waited to hear that for so long, you have no right to say it now” she added. The three girls were waiting for the other Bellas outside the ‘House of Gowns’, a wedding dresses shop in Portland….
“It’s too late Beca, it would be incredibly selfish from you to throw this at her now that she’s getting married”. Beca wiped the stupid tear that had fallen down her cheek while Aubrey was talking and huffed “yeah, you’re right”. Suddenly they saw Chloe’s car arrive “don’t let her see you like this" suggested her former captain and Beca hurried to hide around the corner to compose herself. Amy shot Aubrey a disapproving glare before loudly greeting Chloe, who was getting out of the car with Jessica and Stacie. The other Bellas arrived shortly after and Amy made up a cover story for Beca’s delay, so Chloe decided to start without her.
When Beca entered the room, Chloe was standing on a dais, the white dress she was wearing was breath taking; it had a tulle corsage with a neckline that let uncovered her shoulders and a generous amount of her backside, embroidered on it there were several white lacy flowers that cover it up almost completely and some of them where also peppered across the gown, formed by many overlapped layers of chiffon. From the three parts mirror Chloe was standing in front of, the brunette could see that the flowery corsage was generous on her front too, it hugged her breasts in a heart shaped cleavage leaving her chest and shoulders on display. Though what really affected Beca was the way it lightened up Chloe’s face – or maybe it was the joyful expression and the twinkle in her eyes to do that. Chloe saw Beca’s reflection in the full-length mirror and immediately turned around with the brightest smile “Beca, you’re finally here!” she cheered “I think this is the one. What do you think?” she asked gesturing at her dress.
Beca felt the room spin. It was perfect, Chloe was perfect, she was everything Beca’d ever needed, everything she could ever need, and so much more. But she’d been too afraid to admit it to herself – let alone confess it to the redhead – and now it was too late, Chloe was getting married to that pompous marine and she looked so happy. Aubrey’s words kept echoing in her head; she knew, deep down, that Chloe always felt something more than friendship for her, but Beca kept pushing her away, too afraid that letting her too close, Chloe would have found out that she wasn’t worth it and would have left her heartbroken and vulnerable. She’d know for so long but didn’t do anything about it, and now it was too late, she had lost her chance – the only chance she could have at being truly happy.
She felt all the air being sucked out from her lungs “I can’t breathe" she whispered. The room kept spinning faster and faster around her, she had to get out of there. She turned around and sprinted for the door, not noticing the worried looks of her friends, nor the soft and confused sound of Chloe calling after her. The brunette pushed past the glass door and didn’t stop until she reached the wall of the building across the street. She leaned into it with both hands, trying to breathe.
All the Bellas, including Chloe, rushed behind her but the store clerk stopped the redhead “excuse me ma'am, but you can’t leave in that” he said pointing at the wedding dress, Aubrey momentarily considered to argue with him, but she figured it made sense and offered an apologetic smile to her friend before rushing out of the store.
“Hey midget” said Amy in the sweetest tone she could manage, gently resting a hand on her shoulder. Beca was desperately trying to breathe but it was like she couldn’t find any oxygen in the air around her, she was damp in cold sweat and her vision was blurry, she rested her head on the bricks in front of her, her heart had never beaten this fast in her whole life. All the girls were surrounding her, and she could feel their worried stares burning into her, she wanted to tell them she was okay, to go back to Chloe, but she apparently didn’t know how to form words anymore because all she could do was gasp. She wanted to scream at them to give her some space, to l- “let her breathe!” shouted Aubrey pushing the scared girls aside to gently grab Beca’s forearm, guiding her to sit on the ground and kneeling besides her. She gulped at how pale Beca was and grabbed her hand “it’s okay Beca, it’s okay. Just breathe with me" “I can’t Aubrey! I think I’m gonna die" she gasped looking at the tall blonde terrified “you’re having a panic attack, you’re not going to die" she assured her “you just need to breathe, everything’s gonna be fine" she added.
Nothing was gonna be fine, Chloe was getting married and there was nothing she could do about it, she couldn’t even tell her how she felt. All the feelings she kept inside for so many years were suddenly rushing out and for the first time she didn’t want to keep them in, just when she had to. Beca thought about all the times she could have confessed her feelings to Chloe, all the times she should have done just that, but she didn’t. And now that she had to keep them in, she suddenly felt the need to let them out. She was so mad at herself that she was shaking, her fingers gripping hard onto Aubrey’s like if it was the only thing keeping her alive. “I lost her" she whispered “she was never yours to lose, you idiot” a voice in her head told her. Aubrey remained silent, gently stroking her back and taking deep breaths as if she was in a birth class, trying to get Beca to do the same thing.
Chloe reached them running and thrown herself on the ground, almost knocking Aubrey down. She gently put a hand on Beca’s cheek making the brunette look up at her “Beca…” she pleaded, her eyes shining with tears she was fighting to keep in. “Chlo…” breathed Beca in surprise, her eyes widen like if she’d just saw an angel. Chloe pulled her into a tight hug and Beca let go of Aubrey’s hand to wrap her arms around Chloe. Suddenly she felt the oxygen fill her again, together with Chloe’s scent and her heart relaxed. Chloe’s always been her anchor; every time she felt overwhelmed by something or started spiralling, holding her tight, or even just thinking about Chloe, made Beca feel better, like she could face anything, but now she had to move on, she couldn’t relay on Chloe to ground her anymore. The thought brought her an incredible sadness and she started sobbing onto the redhead’s shoulder.
Chloe held her the whole time, until she sniffed and lightened her grip on the sweatshirt Chloe was wearing, but didn’t pull away. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make a scene" she sobbed and Chloe pulled back enough to look at her “I tried not to, this isn’t fair to you” she continued, and saw the tear strained face of the redhead shift in something that looked like pain, as if she’d just punched her in the stomach “no, it’s not” Chloe breathed out, suddenly pulling away from Beca and rising to her feet. She pushed through the shield of women surrounding them and only stopped because Amy grabbed her arm turning around “come on Chloe, the girl just gave herself a panicked attack trying not to tell you, you can’t be mad at her for ruining your day" she told her a little harshly “well that’s funny, since she’s always been a pro at not telling me how she feels" spat out Chloe freeing herself from the Australian and walking away. “Chloe!” Aubrey called out chasing her.
“She’s right" weakly admitted Beca pulling up her knees to bury her face into. Flo and Emily crouched down to comfort her, and Stacie leaned her back on the brick wall sighing “what a fucking mess".
They were near Chloe’s car, parked outside the shop, when Aubrey reached the redhead “hey, talk to me" she gently offered and Chloe quickly turned around, fresh tears streaming down her face “this is so unfair, Bree" she sobbed “I spent so long trying to move on, because it was hopeless waiting for her to come around! And it was so painful and so hard! And now that I’m finally happy, she does THAT!?” “I know, I know" simply stated Aubrey pulling her into a comforting hug, trying to hush her sobs “why does it have to hurt so much?” she mumbled against her and Aubrey sighed tightening her embrace. Chloe let her friend hold her while she cried, she was tired of crying for Beca, she didn’t think her heart could stand all that constant pain anymore.
Once her sobs calmed down the blonde pushed her up straight and wiped her tears with the palms of her hands, Chloe looked across the street “they’re all on her side" she huffed “no, they’re not! There are no sides here" tried to argue Aubrey, before turning to see that Amy was still looking angrily at them, arms crossed on her chest “Amy is…” Chloe scoffed matter-of-factly “well, I am on yours then" promised her the blonde.
“You need to stop blaming yourself, Beca! It’s not like you could have controlled it" repeated to her Cynthia-Rose. They were gathered at Ashley’s house, not far from the corner Beca had just finished crying on. “I know, but I still have ruined everything, intentionally or not. It’s over now and she’s right to be mad at me" retorted Beca, holding her head in her hands “I don’t think it is. Over I mean, I don’t think it’s over" intervened Stacie “sure, your timing sucks, but now that it’s out there, you might as well fight for what you want” she suggested “what’s the point? She hates me" lamented Beca and Stacie laughed at her, quickly clearing her throat when all the heads in the room turned to look at her in disapproval “Beca, I know love when I see it, and that reaction she had? That was it!” “guys…” interrupted Ashley “sorry. Aubrey texted the group chat, she said Chloe wants to follow the day’s schedule and meet us at ‘Queen’s Cakes’ in twenty” she informed them “she can suck it!” spat out Amy “Amy!” scolded her Beca “I’m the one to blame here, not her" she said and the Australian got up grunting. The girls made their way to the door “you’re not coming?” asked Emily to Beca “I think Stacie’s right" blurred out Lily.
Beca couldn’t believe she let them convince her to actually go after Chloe, but there she was, in a flower shop near the bakery her friends were in, looking for a bouquet.
“How’s Beca?” Aubrey asked Amy between tastes of fruity cakes “what, you care now?” scoffed the Australian without looking away from her plate “of course I care, she’s my friend!” hissed Aubrey offended “You have something with chocolate maybe?” requested Amy to the confectioner, completely ignoring the skinny blonde.
After picking the wedding cake, the girls left the bakery and found Beca waiting for them – for Chloe – outside. Stacie quickly grabbed Aubrey, who immediately come to attention at the sight of the brunette “I know you want to protect Chloe, but I think you should let them sort things out" she suggested and was surprised when Aubrey agreed. The Bellas let them their space taking a step back and looked from afar as Chloe tentatively approached Beca.
“Hi…” said shyly Beca “what are you doing here Beca?” asked dryly the redhead, so she offered the orange bouquet to her. Chloe suddenly frowned at that, almost outraged. “T-they’re Tiger Lilies, the flower lady said they mean ‘I dare you to lo-” “I know what they mean.“ interrupted her Chloe, “how dare you!? How dare you tell me something like this? When the whole time I’ve done nothing but love you and YOU were the one who didn’t dare facing her goddamn feelings!”, she was shouting and her voice was trembling, she grabbed the flowers from Beca’s hands and tossed them on the ground making her flinch “don’t you dare stand in front of me and demand something from me like I owe it to you” she sobbed, letting tears flow from her eyes.
Beca didn’t know what to say, she agreed with everything Chloe was saying – shouting – to her and her heart was breaking at the sight of the redhead falling apart before her eyes “please don’t marry him" she begged with a sob “why? I love him and he wants to start a family with me! Why wouldn’t I marry him?” she ragged at her “you hate what he does" spat out Beca “he risks his life to protect us!“ shot back the redhead “protect us?” scoffed the brunette “he follows orders without questioning them. I know you don’t buy that ‘exporting democracy’ bullshit! America, or at least those who give orders, don’t give a shit about other countries or people’s right, they want to colonize them, to take their oil! You always despised war, but now that you met him soldiers are suddenly heroes” Beca didn’t know why she was saying all that, it wasn’t the point, she didn’t care about any of it. The point was that she was in love with Chloe and couldn’t live without her.
“He loves me!” she sobbed “I love you!” shouted Beca and saw Chloe’s eyes go wild at that “I have been waiting for you for years after you and Jesse broke up. I was all but subtle while we were living together, but you always turned me down, and now?” she lowered her voice “now that I’ve finally moved on and I’m happy with someone else” it was clear how physically painful it was for her to force those words out “now you decide to finally tell me that you love me?” “…Chloe" breathed out Beca “it’s too late Beca, I’m done with this. I’m done with you" cut of Chloe wiping her cheeks before walking away.
A supercut of memories started flashing before her eyes “Hi! Any interest in auditioning for our acapella group?” “you can sing!” “you should audition for The Bellas” “I’m so glad that I met you" “I think we’re gonna be really fast friends" “Beca should take my solo" her tears kept falling like waterfalls “…is that I didn’t do enough experimenting in college” the visions increased in speed with every flash, “we should move to Brooklyn together" “it’s okay, we don’t mind sharing a bed, right Becs?” until it reached something that felt like an explosion and the imagine of Chloe kissing Chicago for the first time stood still before her eyes, she groaned desperately trying to get it out of her head.
The Bellas, except for Beca, went home with Chloe – at her parent’s house – and were trying to calm her down, but she was a mess. Chloe was sitting on the couch, knees up to her chest and a mattered tissue balled up in her hands and kept sobbing and ranting about how unfair it was from Beca to try and stop her from marrying Chicago, about how painful it was to pin after her for all the years the girl was with Jesse “I never asked her to break up with him did I?” she cried “She could have told me how she felt any day for about four years, why now? Why as soon as I moved on, she felt the need to tell me?” “maybe because she realized she was losing you?” suggested Emily but the glare Chloe shot her made her gulp and lower her head “I think she got jealous back during the use tour and-“ tried Flo “but she still hasn’t done anything about it!” Chloe interrupted her screaming with rage “she could have been in time back then, I would have ditched him in a heartbeat” she sniffed “uh actually, she wanted to tell you after her performance, but when she saw you two smooching she thought you didn’t care” mumbled Amy “then why now? Why should I care now?” “I think she tried to push it down and let you be with him, but now she realized she can’t do that" said Lily quietly, but loud enough for the girls to hear her.
Chloe buried her face in her hands groaning “why is this happening? I was supposed to be happy, not crying all the time! I don’t know what to do". “Look Chloe, I know people don’t like it when I drop my wisdom on them, but don’t you think that maybe you wouldn’t feel so confused if you were marrying the right person?” offered Amy, raising her eyebrows as if she was stating the obvious, and Chloe just stared blankly at her, with her reddened nose and puffed eyes. She was right, if Chloe had loved Chicago the way she loved Beca, she wouldn’t feel like this, sure she would feel sorry for Beca, she would cry with her and tell her how sorry she was and how important their friendship was to her, but she wouldn’t be so exhausted and destroyed, and she definitely wouldn’t be – in the back of her mind – trying to find a way to explain to her fiancé why she couldn’t marry him.
Beca had decided to lock herself in the flat she rented for the two weeks she and the Bellas were supposed to stay in Portland and help Chloe sorting out wedding stuff – their bridesmaid’s duty, as Aubrey called it – and had opted for a shower, hoping it would calm her down after hours of uninterrupted crying. It didn’t work and now she was laying front down on the couch, her damp hair wetting the shoulders of the oversized hoodie she was wearing, when she heard the doorbell “Amy go away, I told you I want to be alone” she lamented standing up and walking to the door, swinging it open.
Her eyes widened at the sight of the redhead standing awkwardly at her door, chewing on her bottom lip “Chloe" she gasped in shock, she wanted to ask what she was doing there, maybe even crack a joke about her getting lost or something “…would you let me in?” asked the redhead weakly “y-yeah, yeah, yeah, sure. Please come in" blurred out Beca clumsily stepping away from the door. Chloe step inside and closed the door behind her. The loft was huge and well furnished; it was one giant open space and from the living room she was in, with a large couch and flat screened tv, she could see the bed on the far corner in front of her, with black wooden headboard and white sheets, the kitchen on the other side, with a wide island and modern electronics and the only door – the bathroom she assumed – was incorporated into the wall art on the couch’s side. “Wow this place is amazing" she stated unconsciously, still looking around in admiration.
Before Beca could reply to the comment, she saw the redhead frown and followed her line of sight to the smashed headphones – her favourite ones – abandoned on the floor, and felt a jolt of embarrassment “what happened” Chloe asked looking back at her slightly shocked “I-I can’t listen to music anymore…“ she said swallowing hard “it reminds me of you” she admitted softly and looked up trying to keep in the new rush of tears forming in her eyes, tongue pressed hard on the front of her upper teeth as she breathed in through a bitter smile, Chloe’s frown intensified and Beca was scared she would have started yelling at her again “but… music is you life!“ she said in disbelief “you are my life!” Beca thought, and this time she knew she wouldn’t have been able to stop her tears from flowing “oh for fuck’s sake” she cursed under her breath turning around and pressing her hands over her eyes, annoyed at herself for not being able to control her emotions, and started sobbing again.
“Oh, Becs” she heard the redhead whisper shakily before feeling her arms wrap around her as she pressed their bodies flushed together. She instinctively relaxed into the hug and brought her hands down to Chloe’s arms, squeezing gently, then she felt the redhead place a soft kiss on her temple and her breath trembled. When Chloe started peppering slow lingering kisses on her cheek and gently squeezing the fabric of her hoodie, pressing more firmly her front into Beca’s back, the brunette leaned into her. Beca could feel every shallow breath Chloe was taking on her skin and forgot to breathe herself. She suddenly sniffed and wiped her face as best as she could with her sleeve, before tentatively turning in Chloe’s arms.
The redhead didn’t step away from her, so she slowly tilted her head up, carefully and Chloe stood still, waiting for those pink soft lips to kiss her. Beca stopped when she felt Chloe’s breath on her mouth, but the almost imperceptible tremor of Chloe’s body, made her lean in all the way. After the first soft bush of their lips, something snapped, and Chloe fervently depended the kiss. It was messy and harsh, desperate, full of anger and regret, teeth scraping at lips and hands frantically roaming over their bodies and into their hair. If any of them were able to think in that moment, they both would have thought that it was nothing like how they imagined their first kiss would have been, and they both imagined it countless times now.
Beca didn’t notice they were moving until her back violently collided with the pillar standing in the middle of the room, Chloe was aiming for the bed, but the column would have to do. She pushed the brunette up against the hard, flat surface and started to grind against the knee Beca promptly bent for her, her hands pulling at damp dark hair while she kept kissing her deeply. Beca was more gentle, but as desperate as Chloe, both her hands were on Chloe’s face, keeping her close, one of them slipped into red hair when she felt Chloe’s humid hand move past her hoodie and rise to grab her breast “is this okay?” rasped breathless the redhead against her mouth “yeah" assured Beca with a gasp, followed by a moan when the girl’s other hand reached her ignored breast, squeezing them together.
Suddenly Chloe’s body disappeared from hers and Beca’s eyes flew open for the first time in a while. She’d winced at the light, if it wasn’t for the mesmerising image of Chloe, flushed and out of breath, standing in front of her. The redhead’s look, when she slipped two fingers into the waistband of Beca’s leggings and waited, was so intense that Beca forgot how to speak and could only nod frantically at her, the second later her bottoms were gone and Chloe was kissing her again. She took one of Beca’s thighs and held it up around her waist with her left hand, while sliding the long and slender fingers of her right hand through Beca’s wetness. The girl abruptly broke the kiss to slam her head backwards against the wall supporting her, hushing out a breathless “yes" and Chloe took the opportunity to press her smirk into the newly offered skin to kiss and suck at her throat, before starting fucking her hard.
When Beca woke up she was sore, but in a good way, she could still feel the ghost of Chloe on her skin, she opened her eyes to look at the redhead, but all she found was white sheets and pillows. Her heart sink when she realized Chloe was gone and reality hit her like a bucket of ice; Chloe was getting married in less that a week, and last night was probably one last itch she needed to scratch before doing so. Beca felt tears burn in her eyes again and she let herself fall back on the matrass. She didn’t even bother to get dressed and went back to sleep. However, her depression nap was disturbed by an impetuous Australian, shouting and throwing at her what Beca believed was her cell phone “Midget where the hell have you been?” “Amy what the fuck?” she gasped sitting up straight holding the sheets against her still naked body “I gave you that spare key for the emergencies!” “this kinda is an emergency, if you’d bothered to charge your phone, you would know everyone is looking for you!”
Beca plunged in the charger and turned on her phone, 15 missed calls, 7 of which were from Chloe, 62 messages, 40 of which were from Amy, and two emails from work “what the…” she exclaimed under her breath. Amy throw some random clothes at her “get dressed we’ve got to go, wedding’s off"
“Why didn’t you answer your phone? I thought you got scared again and decided to run away" lamented Chloe holding Beca’s arms “I- you left without saying anything and I…” explained Beca looking down at her hands “I thought last night didn’t mean anything to you or that maybe you regretted what happened and left me" “last night meant the world to me" smiled at her Chloe “I went to talk to Chicago, I won’t marry him" informed her the redhead and Beca smiled brightly at her “so, does that mean..?” she trailed off leaning in and Chloe met her halfway. They shared a deep tender kiss, completely different from those they shared the night before, this one was full of hope and promises and love, Beca smiled into the kiss and Chloe couldn’t help but do the same.
When they parted Chloe tuck a lock of brown hair behind Beca’s ear “do you wanna go back at the loft? I really love that bed" she asked biting her lip and Beca smiled again “I love you“ she whispered and the look she got from Chloe this time was one of pure joy, one that Beca decided she wanted to see for the rest of her life “I love you too” said back Chloe before pulling her into another kiss.
Back at the loft, they took things slowly this time, taking their time to admire every inch of skin getting progressively exposed while they lovingly undressed each other.
“I’m sorry for fucking up your life" said sincerely the brunette, smiling at her exhausted in the afterglow “you are my life” told her Chloe rolling on top of her.

Being back felt weird. Right after signing with Roc Nation, Beca had to move to LA and her life was completely turned upside down from there; days and nights spent in the recording studio, private cars with darkened windows and unknown drivers who always knew where to go without having to interact, as if the car was driving itself, big parties and paparazzi following her everywhere. Right now, she was finishing her first tour in the United States, that lasted almost a year. It exceeded all the expectations, selling out in a few hours almost all the dates and spurring the label to insert additional concerts in the bigger cities – most of which sold out as well.
The grand finale of her tour was at the Madison Square Garden, which meant she was finally back in New York, the last place she was able to call home; not only because she spent more time around America – opening the concerts of big artists and making a name for herself before starting her own tour – than in her actual LA apartment, but because she had a constant feeling of transience, of never really belonging.
That’s why she decided to rent an apartment and settle down for a while – Rent because even if the label agreed on her ‘vacation’ on the condition that she kept writing music, they expounded her that the life she embarked on wasn’t a sedentary one – that and Chloe. Beca had missed Chloe like crazy and was set on finally facing her feeling towards the redhead. As soon as she got back, Chloe was all she could think about. It was like the city screamed her name; every corner, every street, every café and store were full of memories of when the two girls used to live together – with Amy – and share a bed, alongside with their whole lives. She couldn’t wait to see Chloe again and go back into their domestic routine, she wasn’t a fool, she knew things would have been different this time, but she knew Chloe missed Beca as much as she missed her.
Beca had texted the group chat as soon as they set the date, offering them VIP passes and – to whoever needed them – plane tickets to go see her in New York City. All the girls gladly accepted, happy to use it as an excuse for another Bellas reunion other than to support their friend.
After the concert Amy dragged them all to get drinks at The Brooklyner, as a tribute to the trio’s former shared apartment in Brooklyn – only that the bar was in the West Village and the drinks were way fancier than the ones they were used to take back then – so Beca didn’t have the chance to do anything more than saying hi to Chloe, just like she did with the rest of the girls when they all went backstage to quickly hug and prize her for the amazing concert.
Chloe could tell that something had shifted inside of Beca; the redhead saw Beca staring at her with purpose many times between the drinks and, to her surprise, the brunette never once shied away from the eye contact, sometimes she’d even offered a smug smirk to her after being caught, rising her glass towards the redhead or sipping from it while arching an eyebrow.
Chloe licked her lips before finally approaching Beca, who was leaning against the counter of the bar, drink in her hand. This was the first time they were in the same place after a long while and even if they’d managed to keep their friendship strong as ever even from afar, her body felt weird being close to Beca again, like if there was this static energy ready to burst out as soon as she’d dared to touch her. At the same time, she felt a pull, an irresistible uncontrollable pull towards the brunette, which only intensified with every not-so-subtle look that Beca threw her way during the night. So, she slowly shirked the conversation she was having with Jessica and Flo to enter Beca’s personal’s space, like she was so used to do, and see those deep blue eyes look at her up close.
Beca put her glass down on the counter and slightly turned her body towards the redhead, welcoming her presence.
“So, The Beca Mitchel” Chloe greeted her “looks like you’re a big deal now, huh” she joked, but there was a softness in her eyes she had no intention to hide – Beca was a big deal after all, and she was so proud of her – a softness she could see mirrored in the way Beca was looking back at her “so I’ve heard” snorted the singer casually resting her hand on Chloe’s arm that was resting on the wooden surface.
“I like this new you" offered Chloe with a sincere smile “I’m still me, Chlo" she assured her, gently taking a lock of auburn hair between her fingers and slowly running them down the perfect curls “I know” quickly replied Chloe taking the smallest step forward, the two girls were mere inches apart now, “but you’re… y’ know, more confident” she added swallowing hard, the air between them was tick and for a moment she forgot they were surrounded by all of their friends. Beca gave her the hint of a nod, as to say that she knew what she meant, and bit her lip before talking again, “it’s good to see you, I’ve been missing you" there was something in that simple statement, or maybe it was the intensity of her gaze, that made Chloe’s heart miss a beat “I missed you too" she said back with the brightest smile she could manage in her I-can’t-really-breathe-right-now state.
Suddenly a very drunk Fat Amy ungracefully passed by them on her way to ask for another round of shots and shoved Chloe right into Beca without even noticing. The brunette’s right arm instantly wrapped around Chloe’s waist to catch her, while she used the other one to grip at the counter and keep them from falling to the ground. Chloe took her time before looking up at Beca – an unusual angle for them, given their height difference – Beca’s arm felt so comfortable around her and her face fit perfectly on the gap of Beca’s neck, plus the alcohol was starting to buzz in her brain and it felt nice to just rest her head somewhere for a moment, with the familiar scent of her best friend surrounding her and making her feel finally at home.
When she did look up, she realized Beca was already looking at her trying to bite back an amused smirk, “you okay?” she asked but Chloe could only focus on how fast her heart was beating and on the fact that she was definitely, uncharacteristically, blushing. “I…” she was sure Beca could feel the frantic rhythm of her heart against her chest and when the brunette let the smirk show on her face Chloe feared for a moment that she would have taken advantage of her sudden awkwardness and made fun of her, but Beca didn’t “let’s get out of here" she suggested instead, it was a statement but Chloe could see the question in her eyes and slowly nodded.
While Beca threw down the remaining of her drink, Chloe’s eyes quickly roamed through the room to find Aubrey – the only one she believed being sober enough to understand anything at all – to tell her they were leaving, but then Beca’s fingers intertwined with hers and she was pulling her out of the bar and the rest of the world disappeared from her mind.
As soon as they got out of the door Beca turned around, letting their bodies collide again and smiled softly at Chloe’s surprised look, she lightly brushed her thumb over the other girl’s hand that was still in hers and gained a content smile from the redhead. Beca wasn’t entirely sure what had gotten into her and whether she was taking this new confidence from the alcohol, or if she’d simply grown up over the last year, but she felt like it was suddenly slipping from her fingertips and she started to panic, letting out a choked gulp.
“Becs…” Chloe breathed out lightly brushing her free hand over Beca’s cheek. Beca was trembling and her stomach was tightening in a knot so tight that for a moment she worried it could kill her. She took in a shaky breath; Chloe’s eyes were frantically searching for something on Beca’s face and her lips looked so soft and tempting and everything Beca had ever needed. Something snapped inside of Chloe and suddenly she started leaning in, slowly, carefully. Beca thought she was going to black out “this is going to be okay” she told herself before meeting halfway the lips she’d spent years craving.
The kiss was gentle and rather chaste, Chloe’s hand moved to interlock into brown hair beneath Beca’s ear and lightly curled, sending shivers down her spine. Beca’s lips parted just enough to capture Chloe’s lower lip between them and they stood like that, just pressing their lips together and letting that new feeling linger. When Beca broke the kiss neither of them moved away letting their lips occasionally brush together while they breathed the same air. Chloe didn’t open her eyes, she once again forgot her surroundings, with Beca’s arm around her keeping their bodies pressed tightly together. There were so many things Chloe wanted to say “I love you” “I’ve waited so long for this” “take me home…” the cold air hitting her for the first time since they left the bar brought her back to reality and she opened her eyes to see Beca smiling brightly at her, with her ragged breath pushing steam through the air “I should have done that way sooner" she said licking her lips and Chloe squinted her eyes “I’m pretty sure I am the one who kissed you…” she giggled “no way, I was the one who-“ the rest of whatever Beca was saying vanished when Chloe tugged her in and kissed her again, more purposefully, pushing her tongue through the brunette parted lips.
As soon as their tongues brushed together Beca was gone. She moved on autopilot, watching the scene from afar, almost like an aerial shot. She saw herself dragging Chloe into the private car waiting for her, the redhead pulled the door closed and the driver took off without asking for directions. Beca connected their mouths once more and within seconds Chloe moved to straddle her, glad for the black glass separating them from whoever was driving.
Things were getting heated up pretty quickly, with Beca’s mouth attached to Chloe’s outstretched throat and her talented hands sliding at a painful slow pace up her bare thighs, Chloe grunted and grabbed Beca’s left wrist trying to speed up its journey to the hem of her dress “touch me” she breathlessly begged, bending her head to look at Beca and making the brunette look up at her. “I am touching you" chuckled Beca “you know want I mean" she whined and Beca smiled at her, stretching her neck up and humming when Chloe kissed her again. When Beca’s left hand started to move more quickly and disappeared under her dress, Chloe brought her fingers up to lightly brush over Beca’s throat and focused on kissing her deeply, while Beca’s hand gently squeezed her ass.
Chloe tasted like pineapple and coconut from the three – maybe four, Beca wasn’t sure – Piña Coladas she had during the night and the brunette would have chuckled about it if she hadn’t felt so drunk, but not from the drinks. She was drunk on Chloe, on the fact that she was finally allowed – begged even – to touch her as she’d always wanted to. She was drunk on the feeling of Chloe’s weight pressing down on her and the filthy things she was doing with her tongue into Beca’s mouth. “Where are we going?” breathed Chloe against her lips, “I’ve rent a place nearby" she said casually, pulling Chloe back in to continue kissing her. She needed Chloe’s mouth on hers way more than she needed air.
She knew that they had crossed a line, one they’ve been dancing on for the best part of six years and there was no going back now and she really hoped they were gonna make it intact to the other side, because if there was one thing Beca Mitchell was sure in her life, was that she could never lose Chloe, but she couldn’t think about that now. Now that she was finally holding her tightly, with their hands exploring every inch of each other’s bodies they could find and their mouths fitting so perfectly together, all Beca could think was that she was finally going home.
