bruce gets medically trained, takes a small side volunteering job at a nearby clinic and becomes known as the Vigilante Doctor because every time one of the Robins shows up at the clinic they ask for. bruce wayne. and he Answers.

they're showing up with three broken ribs and bleeding from their ears and they're laughing it off and Bruce is just like [gobsmacked little father man trying not to scream for the eighth time this week]

or like the classic cuddle pollen scenario one of them gets hit with it and shows up at the clinic and bruce appears, and they just Throw themselves into bruce's arms

(bruce's dad instinct kicks in and he stays attached to the kid until morning)

In the civilian Bruce au, were half of his kids robins at one time? Is that mantle still a thing, if so, is it passed down like in canon? Is dick the mentor of them instead of Bruce/Batman?

so yes all the kids become vigilantes on their own with dick being the first one and their pseudo mentor- im not sure whether jason was robin at first because dick decided to give the name to him or if jason decided to choose something else related to his origins in the narrows :V and im not sure about tim either but i believe he likey did monitor and intel with barbara first while he trained for the first few months and then picked a name for himself later- and cass and duke both have their own names already, and damian. well i think he might also take the robin mantle or maybe choose something for himself!

god there have got to be SO many- like i firmly believe that one time tim is in the middle of heading out and he runs into bruce getting a late night coffee cause he's been up all night with paperwork and they just. freeze because what is my kid wearing and why is it red and why is he wearing a mask and hey is that the symbol i see one of the gotham vigilantes wear-?

and bruce is like half dead on his feet but tim just absolutely panics and says "hey bruce, it's dream tim. youre. having a dream right now. this is a dream."

and bruce is running off two hours of sleep and thirteen cups of coffee since three days ago and hes so out of it so he just. shrugs and says "ok dream tim, have a nice night. i love you."

and tim just BOOKS it and he's like DAMN IT DAD YOURE SO DUMB I LOVE YOU TOO

Wait so Civilian AU Bruce doesn’t know Jason is back, but do the other batkids know? What would that be like for them, not being able to tell their dad that their brother is here and kinda fucked up but alive? And I’d assume that Jason can’t really hold too much of a grudge against Bruce since Bruce wasn’t really involved, so why doesn’t he come home? Is his anger at Batman shifted onto someone else? Nightwing, maybe? I have so many questions ummm sorry for being annoying anyway this is living in my head rent free.

Also how does Bruce react when any of the kids get hurt? Like, really hurt? What does he even know about the events that surrounded Jason’s death? What’s it like for Jason to know that his dad has literally no idea what actually happened to him?

heyy so i answered most of these questions in some earlier posts already! but ohh the one about the kids really getting seriously hurt-

they would definitely try to hide it, and they would beg steph to help them with makeup coverup but theyre no good at it at first, and they forget they have it on or they end up wincing anyway, so they have to tell bruce they decided to join some super rough sport at school-

"no yeah, this bruise on my knee? yeah i got it, uh, i got it playing uhhh...frisbee. yeah the team's aim is really off we're working on it."

and bruce is just. still so concerned cause he's willing to overlook things sometimes but hes NOT stupid. but his kids just refuse to tell him what's really going on and it breaks his heart a little cause what if they still don't trust him after so long? but for now, for everyone's sake, he'll let it go just this once. until he can't anymore.

yuppP for a while after his resurrection, jason doesn't let anyone know he's back and instead watches over his family from afar. ofc his brothers find out eventually, and they do EVERYTHING they can to bring jay home :')

bruce though- he was the last of the family to find out but he is the most emotional. he isn't trained like in canon so he doesnt have that ridiculous strength here but. bruce still fucking lifts jason like a 200+ lb little precious kid and gives him the BIGGEST hug he's ever gotten in his life

and he's never letting go <3 (no seriously you're all grounded)

VERY IMPORTANT ADDITION: DUKE!! (to the anon who reminded me i LITERALLY forgot about my boy thank you for calling me out i am so sorry)

i imagine duke joins the family pretty similarly to canon. but ive kind of decided that things in gotham aren't too crazy all the time because god gotham would fall apart so fast without the batman plot armor- (also i have to confess im not so tight w the actual running plot of the comics like what the fuck is even going on- im just going to pick and choose my canon but if anyone has better/ any ideas you want to share please send em my way!!)

after he and his parents are attacked by the joker, they end up hospitalized while duke is bounced around in the foster care system before meeting leslie, who introduces him to bruce. duke is still very jaded, because he's been through so much so recently, and his parents are still alive but. it's not the same.

so bruce comes around a lot and they talk and they come to really care for one another. the other kids also visit duke and drop by just to hang out with him whenever they can and the wayne family starts to help duke out of his spiral. then after a while, since duke's around the manor more often then not, bruce is just like

"you don't have to be a wayne, you don't have to be my son or anything you don't want to be. i can be your guardian or just the guy who pays for the house you live in. but you'll always have me, duke, and you'll always have a place with us. welcome home."

How did the kids got adopted in Civilian Bruce AU? Cause, excluding Dick, they all were involved with Batman first, Bruce second

basically dick becomes nightwing first, and he did it for his parents, because he has a bleeding heart and a drive for change, and also because of bruce.

bruce is always on site helping victims of attacks in the aftermath or sometimes even when the bad guy is still around. one time, it gets bad and he gets caught in fear toxin, and he goes home to a worried alfred and dick.

"i'm so sorry, dick. i was so scared. i was so scared i wouldn't come home, i was so scared you would be all alone, i'm so sorry. i never want you to lose anyone again, sweetheart,  i never want you to hurt like that again."

and dick just. kinda loses it because he hates so much that bruce is putting himself on the line, and dick is doing nothing. by this time hes already grown some, i'd say he would be around 18 when he makes the choice to become nightwing. i feel like he would have a lot of anger, especially so since he has no outlet as robin in this au, so he pushed everything towards gymnastics and martial arts. bruce understood his son's need for a release so he approved of it, not knowing that dick would eventually put his training towards becoming a vigilante.

for nearly 10 years, dick had watched the man, who took him in at his lowest point and helped him slowly start to heal, work late hours pulling shifts at local hospitals, attending galas to raise money, getting hurt being in places he had no obligation but every want as a bleeding heart to be, and he just. wants bruce to take a break. he wants to be the reason his dad can take a break and take care of himself and not worry about gotham. he just doesn't consider that HE will always be bruce's number one priority, that he would always be the person bruce would drop everything for should dick ever need him.

and thats the biggest irony because dick doesn't realize that until he's already into the vigilante business and ended up taking his little brother with him, who bruce had adopted after the kid has tried to steal the tires off one of his mercedes benz.

tim comes along after bruce connects the dots towards the drake's neglect of their son, and the kid comes around to the manor more often than he stays at his own home. after a legal battle and eventually janet and jack drake's passing, tim is officially adopted.

bruce happens upon cassandra when she first enters gotham after running away, and she's distrustful but instantly feels an odd sense of calm near this man who spent time with her and worried for her and knew sign language/ was willing to learn just so he could understand her in a way she was comfortable with. he insists checking up on her and she wants to keep coming back, so she does, and cass joins the family.

a few years earlier than in canon, a child is left on bruce's doorstep, who proclaims he is bruce's son, damian al ghul wayne. his mother, talia, has been impressed with bruce's conviction and his want for knowledge when he had been investigating the healing properties of the lazarus pit, but was ultimately disappointed by his lack of a taste for necessary violence. so after eight years, talia was reminded every day by her son's ever-changing face of who his father was, and how different it was the life bruce led. she did not truly want the life of an assassin for her son, so she sent him to gotham. its a rocky start, and damian had still received training and a sense of arrogance, but also a deep longing for open affection and approval that he finally receives from bruce and the rest of the family.

#then BOOM #adoption papers be upon ye #duke is also the one who brings the crappy foster care system to bruce's attention and he's like 'iM ON IT' #but anyway i love duke i swear im just. i am soRRY MY BOY NEVER AGAIN #civilian bruce au
