God I met Madeline Miller tonight and it’s probably been the best night of my life. She *loved* my poetry and gave me so much direction on colleges that will help me study classics

A small fic about Achilles in the afterlife. The Greeks had so many different views about what happened in the afterlife. Burial rituals and traditions varied from place to place, but there are a few consistencies. Like the coin! Anyway, this is my interpretation of what happened to him. There’s some references to the Iliad, naturally.

this is a conversation, or a poem of sorts, i suppose, that i imagined between sappho and a girl realizing that she loves another girl. it’s a bit of a personal project, i guess; all of sappho’s part in the conversation is taken from the fragments of her poetry, and it’s supposed to symbolize how girls who love girls can find someone like them in sappho.
the lines are, in order, from fragments 138, 118, 57, 156, 104b, 15, 36, 31, 96, 47, and 126. all of those are the lobel-page numberings, with the exception of 15, which is bergk’s numbering and which the lobel-page collection omits.

“Dorian” is such a lovely name, but every time I look for its origins, the internet tells me that it wasn’t a thing before Oscar Wilde, and, knowing Oscar Wilde, that probably means he did actually name the protagonist of his only novel after a historical Greek style of architecture.

a lunchtime scribble of my boy achilles. what’s that quote about him crying so hard over patroclus that even the creatures who lived at the very bottom of the ocean heard him and were moved? I just… like drawing intense emotion.

do you have any favourite love letters from the past?
“You have fixed my Life – however short,” Wilfred Owen to Siegfried Sassoon
“I am reduced to a thing that wants Virginia” / “Throw over your man, I say, and come,” Vita Sackville-West and Virginia Woolf
“Love is my religion – I could die for that, I could die for you,” John Keats to Fanny Brawne
“I know Hyacinthus, whom Apollo loved so madly, was you in Greek days,” Oscar Wilde to Alfred Lord Douglas

My friend Lisa @lizzart-zardonicz drew Ardyn Izunia from FFXV for me!!! We decided to go a bit symbolic here - with Themis, the goddess of justice in the background.
