Overdue Skwisgaar sketches + design notes/hcs! Finally got around to redrawing my fave

+ Skwisgaar has joined the dance floor..... I do think there has been some missed potential for Skwis, Toki and Pickles collective dynamics/interactions. More Skwis and Pickles bein buddies pleas..,,,,.

Some extra Skwis notes and Skwis HCs below the cut for anyone who may be interested:

Design notes!

Slightly darker blue eyes; captures light easily when he's happy!

For eye shapes I thought about Mads Mikkelsen and Magnús Scheving as references! They both have particular facial structures I also thought about in drawing Skwis

Because of his stronger features and pallor, sometimes shadow falls harshly along his features. I find I have to be very careful when rendering his colours and keep his softness

In terms of shape language, Skwisgaar is definitely more like unconventional rectangles than he is triangles!

Decided to give the front peaks of his hair a little more volume

Rather large in proportion but his lean stature makes him unassuming standing alone

HCs!

6'4"-6'5" tall me thinks!

Autistic

He definitely maintains himself and his appearance, but doesn't really have an extensive routine.

Might comb his hair a bit at the front, showers often, is dressed in the morning etc

He also likes to keep his room organized in a particular way; along with his room reflecting a Swedish Modernist style it's incredibly minimalist!

Despite his aloofness, he can be very attentive to the ones he cares for; in other words he's definitely paying attention even when he doesn't seem like he is

He often seen staring past the wall when he's in his own head

He is so borzoi dog.......... often gives intense whale eye to people..

He is a bit of a goober but no one understands his humour 😔

I definitely think he articulates himself better speaking Swedish and has a lot of depth to offer; conversely, he struggles w/ verbally articulating his thoughts and can be generally awkward in a lot of circumstances outside of his reign of interests

Is actually a very grounded individual in terms of his outlook on life, while he often responds very dramatically, emotionally or intensely to certain things (he is so silly!)

So very desperately wants to feel seen and loved for who he is

tis a doodle i did a week back .. skwisgaar feeling crushed under the pressure of needing to be the best or else everything he is for naught is something I think about often. there's a lot of depth to him that i adore but thats all i can articulate atm hehe

Toki Vers.

The Northerners are simply built different...

Skwisgaar and Toki were hunting and surviving in the frigid Far North long before they were recruited into Dethklok! They're definitely strong :) It just shocks the others when they see it themselves haha

Doodles of my MTL ocs! They're part of a band called Istria (band shared with @sneakydevilship !), and are the second most popular metal band in the world. Dethklok's popularity far exceeds them, though.

Puppy is the bassist. She hails from Peru, but grew up in Mexico with her adoptive, older sister Gael. She is more withdrawn than her bandmates, but has a remarkable presence in the dynamics of the band.

Gael Oyente is the drummer. She's deaf, but rhythm and music is everything to her. Cool and collected, Gael is often given task to keep an eye on her bandmates. Alongside her sister, Puppy, she keeps the band grounded.

Cathal Issaseel is the rhythm guitarist. From the highlands of Scotland, he is one of the "founding members" of Istria. He is charismatic and lively, and with the wits to match!

Istria's vocalist and lead guitarist are my friend's, and I hadn't drawn them here.

Some initial concepts from when I was first making them last year under the cut.. very old. & additional notes!

Puppy has tattoos on both her arms. They are pre-columbian based tattoos, relating to her ancestry. She has two piercing on her bottom lip and several on both her ears.

Gael has angel wing back tattoos. She has a piecing on her bottom lip and several on her ears.

Cathal has a tongue piercing, eyebrow piercing and several on both ears.

Hi! Hello! Yes, I just wanted to come on here and tell you that I absolutely ADORE your Metalocalypse fanart, ESPECIALLY THE Class of 2013 AND IT'S FOLLOW UP! The grief, the anger, the anguish, the betrayal, the desperation to feel anything BUT pain, the tears, the screams, the body language, the giving in but not giving up; I FUCKING LOVE IT AND I ADORE IT AND I WISH MORE PEOPLE COULD APPRECIATE THE RAW EMOTION I KNOW YOU PUT INTO IT! (Also LOVE the way you draw them, especially Toki's hair, just makes me happy:3)

Why have you forsaken me..?

In tandem with my post-doomstar req Toki exploration, I was thinking about how Toki saw Dethklok as his family even through everything he had endured. He still loves them, but he's anguished and hurt, maybe even a bit angry.

I actually doodled this one way before the Class of 2013 post! It's super rough but I had to get it out somehow.

I had a vision

and that was to draw Skwis and Toki as if they were love interests in The Arcana: A Mystic Romance. Not sure why, I think it's really fun tho!! I love meshing my niche interests together in weird ways,,

I had to borrow my designs for them from the Dethklok: Monster Hunter AU bc they happened to fit quite well!

I should probably make Skwisgaar's eye rings a little darker tho agsgdbd.. and I gave Toki more scruff with indications of his actual stache bc just the stache alone wasn't working too well for me waaahh

I'm also considering making the others but can't promise it,,

Pickles sketches + design notes/hcs! I loovve giving him lil crinkles at the edges of his eyes and lips! Feels right to give him more mature features.

+ a doodle of mother-daughter (/hj) bonding (they are dancing!!) I absolutely love the dynamic they have with each other and wish there was even more of it! I cannot get over Toki jumping in to beat up Murderface with Pickles in Fatherklok, and Pickles encouraging Toki to join him in breaking Charles' lamps in Snakes and Barrels II. It's the sweetest thing ever (minus the destruction/damage).

Post-Requiem Toki to Mitski's Class of 2013..

I gave the song a few listens last night and was so stricken by it I had to put it into something right away. I thought about how terrible fate had treated Toki. I wanted to explore him navigating his trauma and grief Post-Doomstar Requiem. He does see Dethklok as his family and in AOD we do see that he is still impacted by the trauma, but I wanted to take the path of him feeling isolated and hurt by those he had loved. I needed to drive in the nail of him being wounded by Dethklok's initial negligence and for him to feel at loss about where to go next or who to turn to.

In this exploration of Toki's character, he possibly returns to Norway, trying to find solace where there was none.

He deserves happiness.
