finished the Blender scene in December and tried to explore the pipeline for making quick models with sketchy look. However, it didn't turn out to be as quick as I expected, and took me three weeks and I reworked it about 2 times. Even so, I enjoyed making the brush strokes.
I'm so happy that spring is here, feel much more energy, hope you are doing well too!
2023 is here and I want to start it with planning which I would like to call "art wishes" instead because it's almost impossible to stick to any plans in today's unstable world, especially if there is limited time for personal projects. I don't want to push myself and I would consider the year successful if at least 2 projects are finished. I like the recent trend of being kind to yourself ^^
Since I'm in love with Blender and want to create grease pencil sketches, it would be great to prepare body samples to build new characters more quickly, it's my first priority now. Next is Piko and I would be happy to create a friend for Piko (a girl) this year. The mouse story still has to be finished, which is hard when new ideas come up so often. I want to do everything at the same time, smart people call it shiny object syndrome. I also would like to make a new animation for my portfolio. Well, let's see how it goes.
I hope you manage to realize all of your 2023 wishes! Happy new year!
I have decided to learn blender, probably because of the grease pencil tool, I love it! The only thing that bothers me is that there are no flat strokes, I have to use a mask to make them flat, which is really strange.
I used "3D bonsai painting" tutorial by
Sophie Jantak on youtube which is awesome to learn the tool. My tree doesn't look great but it served its purpose =/)
I haven't posted any progress on my mouse here so it's time to fix it.
I would say that the project is half done. I managed to complete the modeling and rigging of the majority of assets and I even animated it and made a test render which you can check above. I am pretty happy with the result but there is still plenty of work ahead. Currently, I am working on polishing the animation and adding details.
To be honest, I very rarely touch this project now, this year is too unstable and I have to move in/out a lot and this distracts me from art. But I still intend to finish the mouse animation as soon as possible.
I also would like to mention the reason why I started this animation. I had been a little lost in my art direction for several years, I liked drawing but 3d was definitely my passion too and I didn't know where to focus my energy. So, the main goal of this work was to work out which stages of work I liked the most so that I could concentrate on them more. I have already made plenty of helpful conclusions. For example, I have realized I definitely don't like retoping and rendering, but really like sculpting, concepting, and animating.
If you feel lost too, instead of trying to guess what you like I highly recommend going through the process and watching how you feel about that. It definitely helps to narrow your focus.
Hello I was wondering if I could use your red Panda with the arms up in the air. On a Tshirt for my daughter she is fighting cancer at St Jude and we want to get her name out there to get prayers. The company is needing me to get permission from you to be able to use it . Thank you . Jessica . If you have a way I can send you the shirt information or what ever is needed
Hi! Oh my...
Sure you can use it! Please send me a message at [email protected] I will send you high-resolution images.
The first rough concept of characters which I hope to start working on soon. The red panda's name is Piko, a name for the girl is a mystery to me. It's really hard to choose names >_<
Hi, I like your art very much! I was wondering if it would be ok for me to use one of your red panda drawings for one my of my school projects. I figured I would try to get your permission first, to be respectful to you, the artist. It will never be used commercially, just for academic purposes.
Holidays are coming and my mouse concepts should add some vibes.
There are simple story concepts. Unfortunately, I'm too noob in 3d render to get the painty effect in final picture, but that's okay, I just do what I can =)
By the way, my rough rig of the mouse is almost done, going to post it soon. Have a nice week!
Here is a character concept for a short 3d scene. This Mouse should help me to check if I'm able to go through the full production pipeline in optimal time. I'm not going to pursue quality I just want to make the scene done and it would be perfect to finish it before the new year but I don't have confidence in anything, will see.
Tough deadlines are getting easier so I'm able to produce some tiny stuff at least.
Here is a concept of piggy, which I planned to model in 3d so animators could practice animation basics but this work is postponed for some time.
