on arriving//Ikea 18.12.16

Upon arriving, we caught the overground and walked the barren wasteland of my sister’s home.

@ the welcome desk a man welcomed us both, he spoke about how tired he was and wished me a nice stay.

My sister lives @ the collective, which is the world’s largest co-living building. It houses many creative people in a single building containing many flats (which span 6 floors) including 10 communal kitchen spaces.

Although it is situated among a dull palette of blocky buildings,

its interior is warm and welcoming- when passing through the doors you are immediately greeted by a grand piano. At the time, it was covered in lights due to the festive time of year. It was rather a beautiful lobby.

Within the building, there lives a diverse range of people- rich businessmen, foreign students, lonely rich people... my sister.

London, I find, is a very busy, very lonely place.

Most people I encountered were standoffish which I did not expect. My sister hasn’t many friends in her building, I did meet Amro tho.

Amro did something to do with computing programming. He seemed quite lonely. I think he likes my sister.

After sharing some fancy chocolates she had received from a rich Chinese businessman who she suspected fancied her, we called an Uber and headed for the local Ikea.

He rocked up in a Jaguar. Then proceeded to complain, in a heavy accent I couldn’t identify, about an incident when a randomer punched is car.

Ikea meatballs, herb growing set then, exhausted, home.

Morn- Centurion Bar, Newcastle Central Station

Unreasonably cosy, grand and classic.l- tile + comfy seat. w/ back feeling little exposed w/ a huge bar which stretches both walls.

Sat in sink.ng seats w/ suitcase + sister- spoke about someth.ng trivial + bloody appreciat.d the rustic aesthetic. Danger present for atmos. to seem unfriendly + severe though it felt inviting + cabin-like.

Plenty of time. seen Centurion + thought little of it- the monochrome banners made it initially seem overtly formal + museum-like. Unsettling low fenc.ng felt exposing.

Magical place for an early morn., I’d imagine with great company this could be the destination for a fanC eve.

Newcastle Central Station

Rather in love w/ station’s aesthetic- much prefer to London’s grand scale + impos.ng arches or her busy repetition in roofing.

@ ncl station:

I’ve many hugs by the ticket barriers, none especially significant.

I went to Manchester w/ my school to participate in a Lego comp. in which we McDonald’d x3 w/in 2 day

I’ve taken one of my favourite trips ever here (Ncl -> York) in which I purchased The Dice Man.

Trains feel awful formal, being a frequent bus-goer + quite the expert on this particular mode of transport, I find trains rather intimidating.

Cloth Hall, Ypres (Ipres), Belgium, circa 1300

Destroyed in World War I. Ipres was the site where poison gas and mustard gas attacks were deployed for the first time. The Cloth Hall has since been re-constructed as a museum and memorial to the hundreds of thousands who lost their lives here during WWI.
