If lily said yes to james in SWM, and they started dating after that, which means they were dating when james was still a bully.. and james didn't have to chase her.. would they break up?
The way I see jily this is just...not possible? Like whatever Lily felt about James there was no way she was seriously going to say yes to his date proposal. That would just...not be Lily, imo, you know?
I also don't think James chased Lily. I'm firmly in camp they became friends in sixth year, grew to like each other as they got to know each other throughout the year, and were heavily pining after each other by the time summer came around.
Fwiw I don't think jily would have worked out if they'd gotten together before James deflated his head and figured out his priorities. 🤷‍♀️

If james broke up with lily in 7th year, would he get depressed and try to win her back?
I think it depends on the reason, but I wrote a version of this I still very much enjoy: We Can Still Be Friends

ship james with whoever you want but nothing is gonna hit as hard as jily does. bc james chose to walk right into war, james chose to risk his life because being with lily was worth risking everything.

You named your son James??? Wow
I did, indeed. I've loved the name James for as long as I can remember, and Mr mpp was aware of that fact before we even got married.

Why did Caradoc call Lily "his leftover"? Was it just to rile James up or he really thought so lowly of her girlfriend?
Because he is an asshole and was trying to piss off James, yeah.

Someone as jerk as caradoc was faithful to lily? Can't blame him, she's hot as fuckkk.
I mean all cheaters are jerks but not all jerks cheat. For all Caradoc's faults, he wasn't stepping out. Besides, he was very pleased with Lil.

Rereading Dont Look Back in Anger and had to shout out this line “Once the four short-sighted ginger children have a room each…where does Uncle Sirius go? Has anyone thought about that ?”
I always want to spend an afternoon shooting the shit with your Sirius, watching reality tv because he’s so much fun.
Lol thanks for the love!! Full credit for that line goes to @possessingtheproperspirit who writes Sirius so fabulously hilarious. She did James' POV in DLBIA so pretty much all of Sirius' brilliance came from her incredible mind!

Since we're on the topic of Caradoc anyway (and if you want to answer), what was going through his head when Lily dumped him? I know he's fairly distrustful and accusatory of her in the scene in Chasing James ("I know you said you haven't shagged him, but...), but was he expecting her to choose James or did he feel blindsided? Had James been a concern of his prior to the painting or did that not come until after?
Bold! Great questions. I'd love to talk about Caradoc, particularly if it has nothing to do with his nose hairs.
Caradoc had some idea that James was interested in Lily from the moment he saw them at the gala. But he assumed it was not coming from any type of emotional attachment because that's James' reputation at this point. Then James starts dating Lucy, and the idea that he has actual feelings for Lily doesn't cross Caradoc's mind. He does think the painting is a shit move (especially seeing how Lily liked it enough to make space for it in her home) but doesn't necessarily believe it romantically motivated, but he's annoyed and that is what makes him take those digs at James.
As far as her response to the ultimatum, I think he wasn't really blindsided by or expecting her to choose James. He wasn't surprised necessarily based on the way their conversation went (lily saying bc of her work james will always be around, fwiw caradoc always understood how dedicated lily was to her work), but he was confident in himself and what he offered that he thought Lily would choose him. Lily choosing James was a hit to his ego more than anything, as much as he tried the "falling in love" card, it was still very much surface level between them.
From Caradoc's POV, as someone who has minimal interaction with James outside of being antagonistic competitors, he has no reason to think James is interested in a relationship with anyone, let alone Lily. He'd see James' actions as motivated by their rivalry before thinking it was about feelings for Lily. Also, we shouldn't discount how pissed off Caradoc was that the league was sweeping James' attack under the rug to protect him when he gave Lily that ultimatum.

I just started a reread of The Road Back to You, and I was wondering if Annie ever got any notion of James liking Lily? Is that something that ran in the non written part of the story?
P.S:...and HI!! I hope you're having a lovely day! 🙋🏻‍♀️💗
Hi hi hi!! How are you?? I am doing okay. I've had a stress headache for the last 24 hours but that is totally normal right?? 🥴
To answer this awesome TRBTY (my beloved) question, I would say no, Lily wasn't a huge factor to Annie at any point in time. James and Annie had plenty of other problems without Lily even coming into consideration, and for the most part, James kept solid boundaries, so there were never any issues. Like the two hardly ever spoke outside of the group setting and didn't even start texting until they were both single so Annie didn't think much about Lily outside of being in his group of friends.
I would say the core of Annie/James' problems came from being on different pages as far as how fast they wanted the relationship to progress and how well they communicated about it. Annie thought James would've been a bit more "grown up" and ready to commit and he basically shut down at the idea—not because he didn't care about her but because he was happy taking things at a slower pace, which contrasts the last chapter where James and Lily make so much progress so fast. This is all alluded to a few times, like when James talks about how his place "doesn't have room" for anyone else, his "shouldn't it be easy" conversation with Lily, and Annie not taking more active interest in the friend group/trivia nights.
