⚠️⚠️SPOILER WARNING FOR LO FASTPASS AND CONTENT WARNING FOR MENTIONS OF GROOMING AND ASSAULT ⚠️⚠️
Idk who needs to this, other than Rachel herself, but her newest clumsy retcon where she tries to make Zeus look bad and make Metis look better by claiming that “Metis got into a relationship with Zeus to protect her daughter!!!” is victim blaming at best and yet another example in an alarmingly large collection of LO’s SA apologism.
The LO timeline is shaky and we don’t know how old Zeus was when he entered into this fuck ass thing with Metis, but no matter how you try to arrange it, he was definitely underage and she definitely was an adult.
Whatever motives Metis may have had or whatever retcons Rachel might make, her own shaky timeline that she put no thought into so Hades and Persephone could get together faster makes it so that Metis is still a sexual predator and a groomer.
You don’t have to like Zeus, you can hate him and condemn his actions, but that doesn’t change that he is the victim in this situation. Ignoring otherwise is to demean, ignore, lessen the impact and place the blame on people who were groomed and abused when under the age of consent.

You’re going to have to be deep in the throes of untreated neurodivergency to get this.
Anyway I hope the text is readable, but you may have to zoom in.

Vivzie has such an immensely unearned pretentiousness and bravado about her work given how she has one of the most unconfident art and character design styles I've ever seen make it to television. It's frenzied in it's addiction to making sure everyone is thin and covered in useless symbols and pinstripes. I didn't know it was this bad I was hoping the criticism I've seen online was at least a little cherry picked but these characters' visual chemistry bar is below ground.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is impressive how awful these character designs are. I would struggle to do this on purpose

When the super problematic creator + their equally nasty project that’s stuffed with toxic messages, weird kinks and bad writing that you’ve been aware of for years finally starts getting open criticism on mass and you can finally voice your own frustrations and experiences without the fear of rampant harpy stans trying to hunt you for sport

Adding this whole “Hera is actually going to divorce Zeus to be with Echo (who is totally still alive guys) because they’re really in true and honest lesbian love!!!11” plot ‘twist’ to the growing pile of evidence that Rachel stalks the ULO Reddit and LO critical tags on any social media platform 24/7.
Girl don’t you have a weird misogynistic comic to be wrapping up?

She changed it so her OTP could slap cheeks without there being incest. But there is still incest, okay? Lots of it. Lots of actual incest, lots of incest by marriage and lots of weird vibes.
Persephone is Demeter’s daughter. Demeter is Hera’s sister by blood. Hestia is also Demeter’s sister. They are related to Persephone and are her aunts. They are the daughters of the Titan, Metis. That makes her Persephone’s grandmother.
Hades is brother by blood to Zeus and Poseidon. Their parents are Kronos and Rhea.
Hera is married to Zeus. This makes Hades and Poseidon Persephone’s uncles by marriage.
Demeter has a horse son with Poseidon. Poseidon is now Persephone’s step dad.
Ares is the son of Zeus and Hera. Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto. Persephone was SA-d by Apollo and made out with Ares. Persephone has been involved with two of her male cousins, one of which (Ares) is related to her by blood.
Hestia, Persephone’s aunt, is dating Athena. Athena is the daughter of Zeus and in the myths is the daughter of Zeus and Metis. At best, Hestia and Athena are an aunt and niece by marriage but are in a relationship and at worst, Hestia is dating her sister. Bear in mind that Athena’s connection to Metis has never been confirmed in LO though.
Zeus has slept with Aphrodite, who has now bend involved with both of his sons, Ares and Hephaestus. He’s slept with Demeter and is married to Hera, despite also being groomed involved with their mother, Metis.
Hera has also slept with Kronos, father of Zeus, Hades and Poseidon.
Hades has had a centuries long sexual and romantic affair with Hera, Persephone’s aunt, who is his sister in law. He also considered marrying Hestia and hit on Demeter, Persephone’s mother, while drunk. What a guy, right?
All this fucking mess and all these weird unnecessary dynamics just so Rachel’s favourite couple could not be uncle and niece when they got married…except that they still are related, but now not by blood and by marriage instead. Nothing was achieved.
And to top it all off, Persephone looks almost exactly like Rhea, Hades mother, and Rachel has this unfortunate but hilarious habit of unintentionally making it look like that’s part of why Hades is attracted to her.

Before RS change the family tree
I found this old art of Pink RS and Artimes. I really don’t even know why RS just changed the family tree of Greek mythology anyways. What do you guys think?

Do you think the thing that happened between Zeus and Demeter was sexual coercion because I do and I was triggered by the comment section who were blaming her and calling her dumb
Poor Demeter. She’s constantly being hurt and the LO stans drink it up like the plague they are.
Honestly, I’m thinking of making a series of “teachable moments” about sex and relationships, just based on the harmful misinformation that Rachel peddles in her little feminist comic to an unsuspecting audience. This seems like a good place to start.
Teachable moment number one. Demeter was indeed coerced into sex by Zeus. “But wait!” I hear you say, “She had feelings for him and probably thought about sleeping with him anyway, so how is doing what she might have already wanted considered coercion?”
Because that isn’t how consent works. Consent must be given freely and readily if you feel safe and comfortable in the situation. Demeter consents because she’s lead by Zeus to believe he’ll marry her and make her queen if she does so. There is something Demeter wants that she is lead to believe she can only gain by sex. Even though she has feelings for Zeus, she is put in a situation where a power imbalance is at play.
Even if you have feelings for someone, being coerced, manipulated or bargained into sex is not consent and is a form of assault. You didn’t agree simply because you wanted to, but because you felt you had to. This is not okay. Sex is something you should have because you both want to, not because you feel you have to or that you owe it to someone.
You’ll see fans making fun of Demeter for this and claiming she should have known better. This is a harmful, incorrect, victim blaming mentality. Zeus is completely in the wrong for how he treated Demeter. While we’re here, Hades flirting with and trying to get Demeter’s attention while drunk is also a form of harassment.
There are lots of very firm boundaries around sex and attention today and I cannot stress enough that this is a good thing and how harmful it is that LO just skips right over them.
This is a series where the author must issue an explanation after Persephone faints and Hades says she fainted that Persephone, in fact, fainted and is not dead. LO’s audience are extremely impressionable and Rachel is obviously aware of this yet is happy to just let the message that “women we aren’t supposed to like deserve to be assaulted” slide and it’s disgusting.

On that note, I will not trust any modern adaptation of the Persephone myth that claims to be feminist if it does not depict the famine that occurs to be a deliberate act by Demeter. That famine is the one bargaining chip that Demeter has. It is the manifestation of her power that forces Zeus to take her seriously, that threatens his world order enough to make him question his actions regarding Persephone, as here in the earliest surviving source, the Homeric hymn to Demeter:
But golden-haired Demeter sat there apart from all the blessed gods and stayed, wasting with yearning for her deep-bosomed daughter. [305] Then she caused a most dreadful and cruel year for mankind over the all-nourishing earth: the ground would not make the seed sprout, for rich-crowned Demeter kept it hid. In the fields the oxen drew many a curved plough in vain, and much white barley was cast upon the land without avail. [310] So she would have destroyed the whole race of man with cruel famine and have robbed them who dwell on Olympus of their glorious right of gifts and sacrifices, had not Zeus perceived and marked this in his heart. (305-314, tr. Evelyn-White)
Demeter causes a dreadful year; she keeps the seeds hidden within the earth, setting in motion a chain of events that even rattles Olympus, as sacrifices to the gods are no longer made. Now, many subsequent adaptations, both ancient and modern, let the famine occur as a manifestation of Demeter's emotions, her grief, rather than a manifestation of her power. Indubitably, the two are connected. However, divorcing Demeter's anger from her subsequent planning, decision-making and power and giving her a passive and ignorant role in the situation that brings Zeus to his knees shifts the dynamics in the story considerably. Any adaptation that shows barrenness occurring as an indirect and incidental consequence of Demeter's grief unabashedly takes away Demeter's agency in the whole myth. Modern adaptions have shown to be focused on Persephone's agency more anyway, because of her availability as a romantic protagonist. But it is a very hard sell for me to present an adaptation as feminist when Demeter's one defining act as goddess and mother is neutralized.

Idk who needs to hear this but constant bad sex scenes and your characters telling each other how wonderful they are and how they can do no wrong, does not a convincing romance make.
