Binary Light

In the sci-fi smash-hit movie Binary Light, Dev Creehil (played by Alex Claremont-Diaz) and Qindeli (played by Henry Fox) go from enemies to reluctant allies to friends. While a legion of on-line fans believe that arc should have included a ‘to lovers’ at the end, the behind the scenes truth is that the lead actors stayed firmly enemies to enemies throughout filming.

Fresh off a brutal breakup, Alex is back for the sequel and back to dealing with Henry—the asshole Hollywood nepo baby who has failed to conceal his disdain for Alex ever since their first chemistry read. In the script the shippers will finally be getting what they’ve always wanted, but, as some of Henry’s ice begins to thaw, what Alex wants has become decidedly more confusing.

WIP Wednesday

Hi! It is still Wednesday in my timezone, and I've missed a couple of these in a row, so I'm sliding in late.

I am kinda spread between a lot of wips some of which are redacted at the moment. So I'm gonna keep this short and sweet.

There’s a voice in his brain, though—one that sounds remarkably like Nora, because apparently he can’t know a moment of peace—that reminds him that sexuality isn’t so black and white.   He just— When he reminds himself that he likes girls, it’s easier to push down the way his heart speeds up when Raf shows up in a loose-collared shirt, to ignore how David Beckham looks in a suit, shaking your hand and telling you that you had an impressive race. It’s easier, when they travel to countries where homosexuality is a crime, to settle with what’s worked for him so far.

WIP Wednesday

I finally forced myself to sit and write a bit tonight (huge thanks to @onlyastoryteller for helping to motivate me 😘), so here’s another snippet of the next chapter of Life Is Not A Movie (But We Can Have The Fairytale):

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, the man tips the mug up and takes a small sip of the liquid. Nick watches as his expression smooths out into one of cautious contentment, and he lets out a quiet exhale of relief before taking another long pull of his own drink. After another handful of seconds, the man lowers the mug and softly clears his throat.

“Umm, thanks. For the coffee. And…the cinnamon. That’s – thanks.”

Nick peers over at him, studying the way two of his fingers tap the side of the mug in a nervous rhythm, and finds himself fighting past a wave of empathy for him. He gives a small nod in response, not entirely trusting his voice in the moment. They continue to drink in silence for another couple of minutes, until the other man drains the last bit of liquid from his mug and sets it carefully back on the table. Turning to face Nick more fully, he leans forward with his elbows on his knees, hands clasped in front of him.

“You’re…not Henry, are you?”

Nick lowers his mug, balancing it on his thigh as he takes in a deep breath. “No, afraid not.” He waits a beat, watching as the confirmation sinks in, the other man absently nodding as his eyes drift down to his clasped hands. “My name’s Nick. This is my flat. We’re in London.”

That seems to get his attention, his eyes snapping back up to meet Nick’s. “So I am still in London? But I’m not…I don’t…” He trails off, seemingly unsure what question he actually wants to ask. His eyes search Nick’s for a long moment, and when he speaks again, he seems to have arrived at some sort of conclusion. “You know who I am, though, don’t you?”

Nick opens his mouth, but then closes it again when he realizes he has no idea how to answer that question, at least not without sparking about a dozen new ones, which he also has no clue how to answer. “I…um. I think so, yes.”

I’m late as usual so I’m just leaving this as an open tag for anyone who hasn’t shared yet that wants to! 💕

Wip Wednesday and I have brand new words to share! Thanks @nocoastposts for the tag today - I'll get back to attempting RWRB words soon, but for now my brain is stuck in Schitt’s Creek silliness.

@a-noble-dragon thanks also for yesterday's tag. You might like to hear that I now have a full draft of Plume! Yes... 11k words of ostrich-based crack now just (!) need editing! Here's a snippet:

“Hey, Patrick, I can show you my favourite place to sunbathe, I know you’re going to love it. There’s room for two you know!” She drags her wingtip against Patrick’s again, and David almost retches at her obviousness, before she continues: “You must be like, totally bored of David’s stick-in-the-mud company by now.” 

“Um, go nap on the highway Alexis!” David splutters.

She opens her beak to retort, but Patrick steps in first. “Actually Alexis, David was just going to tell me about the best spot for dust baths, weren’t you David?”

“Oh, um, yep, yes,” David scrabbles to catch up – why is Patrick not going with Alexis? All the new cocks always want to spend time with her. Still, he’s not going to complain at the opportunity to get one over on Alexis for a change. “Did you know it’s very important to choose the right consistency of dust, Patrick? Too fine and it gets caught between the barbs of your feathers, but too coarse and it can damage your skin.”

Patrick tilts his head in a way that makes him seem like he’s actually interested, and that David is trying hard not to think of as cute, because he doesn’t want to ruin whatever this tentative new friendship thing is. He’s vaguely aware of Alexis strutting off and calling to Patrick that he’s still welcome to join her for a sunbathe later, but neither he nor Patrick pay her any mind.
