Humans have a tendency to rally support for saving "cute" animals, while species that were not blessed with large eyes or soft features or fuzzy coats (and may even be toxic to humans) also deserve to be saved from damages humans have inflicted upon our shared biosphere. Beyond the ethics of which species deserve a seat on the Ark we're building into the Anthropic future, what considerations are being put into their habitats. Endangered species struggle in endangered habitats. For example, rats are highly adaptable opportunists, but they weren't always city folk.
Woolly mammoths lived in environments and ate food that no longer exists. If they were brought back to a stable population, where would they live and what would they eat? At the very least, you run into the issue of feeling like you've just moved to a new country and none of the food is quite like your mama used 'ta make. Eventually you have to eat to survive, and eventually other critters will find you're worth eating, too. For example, "stink bugs" are an invasive species in North America from Asia. Native insects easily prey on the eggs and larva, but it wasn't until recently that sparrows (a naturalized species from Europe) were recorded predating on the crunchy bugs.
