Oscar and I have been out on a walk for less than 10 minutes and he got a tick on him already. He had brushed against a couple scrubby bushes, so that's probably where he got it.

I bring this up because it's the end of February and we live in the Mid Atlantic of the US. We've had a fairly cold winter, but it hasn't been cold enough if the ticks are already out and about.

If you have pets and normally don't use flea/tick prevention during the winter because of your usual climate, please reconsider using one all year (we do already thankfully, and his short hair makes spotting them easier). As temperatures rise, regions where insects die during the winter will see ever shortening seasons without harmful pests.
