It was so foggy and misty this morning and I had to drive out into the country to pick up my new serger. It was so beautiful! What a nice way to start the day.

Spartan Race 2023
This year I was lucky enough to be invited to the 2023 Spartan Race held in the Blue Mountains! I’ve known a few people who have run it before but I’ve never had the chance to witness it before and…wow. What an incredible feat! Our good friend Spencer (incredible personal trainer, athlete, and litter UNenthusiast) was running the 10k alongside one of his students and we got to cheer them on and…

Autumn Joys: Apple Picking
Autumn Joys: Apple Picking
This past weekend our friends invited my partner and I to go apple picking. As you can see, we said yes! They only had a selection of their apples available for picking, but lucky for us they were delicious ones! If you’ve never eaten an Ambrosia apple, I highly recommend it. Neither of us had ever had one and our bag disappeared in under a week. The sky was so beautiful. The weatherman told us…

Always in Motion
I recently moved to a new place, leaving behind my beloved Ottawa River which has been harder than I thought it was going to be. I love moving and being in a new place and exploring new things, but the beginning here has been a little more difficult than I had anticipated. However, being able to meet my local environment, meet my new river (they’re all connected, so my beloved Ottawa is here,…

Starting the Year Right - #FirstDayHike
Starting the Year Right – #FirstDayHike
Ontario Parks has an initiative in partnership with Sail Outdoors (read more about it here) to take a hike on the first day of the year! You can check out the hashtag #FirstDayHike on Twitter here! My partner and I chose to head to Petawawa Terrace Provincial Park to hike and we tested out our new Garmin GPS on the way! I used one when I was road tripping eastern Canada and it was absolutely…

A Quiet Midwinter
I’m sure I can’t be the only one feeling the strangeness of the season keenly. I like to imagine myself as a tree, even when the seasons are more typical than this, to find solace with what my own body is trying to do. At this time of year people seem to be ramping up for big festivities, parties, many social gatherings, shopping, new resolutions and complete routine changes, etc. That is so…

Find Freedom on the Road in 5 Days without Human Interaction
Find Freedom on the Road in 5 Days without Human Interaction
Being self-sufficient these days can allow for some less-populated travel opportunities. This past November I decided to go on a 5 day/4 night trip to south-western Ontario to explore some interpretive spots and do some camping before the winter snow set in. Here are some photos from that trip. It felt so good to be back on the road. To be riding around in Jolene (my beloved van) and spending…

Handmade Incense: A Photo Essay
Handmade Incense: A Photo Essay
Tumblr media
If you’ve ever burned candles or incense in your house and wrinkled your nose at the synthetic scents that were hidden pre-candle flame, you aren’t the only one. The road to warm scents in our homes is paved with dried herbs. Some favourites were sweet fern, cinnamon, and tree saps.

The Forest At Home: Dandelions
The Forest At Home: Dandelions

Digging up roots!
Dandelions – a strangely divisive little plant. Seemingly everyone wants this tenacious flower off of their lawn, but aside from being a wonderful friend to pollinators, did you know that the whole plant is edible?
It’s true!
The roots, stems, leaves, and flower are all you’re too enjoy at differing times of the season! So I’m going to show you a super simple way to…

A Week in Northern Ontario
A Week in Northern Ontario
This past October I had the opportunity to spend a week on the road and see a lot of Northern Ontario that I have never seen before. Here’s a small glimpse into some of my favourite moments.

Our first stop was Bonnechere Caves, where we learned our first lesson to call any and all places you want to visit when it’s the off season and not rely on Google to tell you what’s open! Ha! So we took a…

WINTER OFF-GRID CABIN ADVENTURES – DAY 3
WINTER OFF-GRID CABIN ADVENTURES – DAY 3
Ah, the sweet sweet reality of moving to a different country is that you often times forget to bring all of your memory cards that contain the things you’re working on! Ha!

Jumping backwards in time a little bit, here is the video for day three of our adventure off-grid camping with Cabinscapes in Kingston, Ontario!

Moving East...
Moving East…
I decided to move to Korea. It was sort of sudden, and sort of not. Maybe I’ve known for a while and didn’t believe it.
But I’m definitely here.

Got to see the cherry blossoms bloom.

Cherry blossoms (벚꽃) are such a testament to impermanence. So while I’m glad I saw them, I ached until they were gone.

Spirea (첨탑) might be one of my favourite flowers here.

Winter Off-Grid Cabin Adventures - Day 2
Our Frontenac Adventures continue in Part 2 this week on my blog! We see a mysterious and unidentified animal....or four, and some strange phenomenon with the earth.... See if you can figure out what's going on!
Day two of our Frontenac adventure! My sister and I woke up to the realization that a solar run cabin doesn’t function as flawlessly without the sun, but we were not deterred! I think aside from the first day to charge up the power, this was the only time we actually used the generator!
We learned that running the mini fridge…

Winter Off-Grid Cabin Adventures - Day 1
Winter Off-Grid Cabin Adventures – Day 1
Tumblr media
Hello hello!
Last week my sister and I took a trip to an off-grid cabin for the week just north of Kingston, and I decided to film it to be able to look back on our time and find a new way to creatively express myself! I learned a lot through filming, and we had so much fun! I’ll be posting the next videos in the series over the…
