I do not believe this is a Chanel bracelet, for a couple of good reasons, the most glaring being that HE ENDORSES CHANEL. Why would he be hiding the bracelet if it was an endorsement item? The entire point of wearing an endorsement item is to show it off and get people interested in buying it.
I also feel like the beads in this bracelet are a lot smaller than the Chanel one.
I'll wait for more info on this one before deciding either way.
As for the solos, like I already said - international solos are often awful, racist/culturally insensitive and totally shameless about what they'll use to try to attack others. Nothing more to be said about it.
4/29 candies to enjoy ^^ 🍭🍬🍩
this was a busy day for us cpfs. so i’m gonna compile some bits that made our cpn-senses go off! 😂
Tumblr media
the most obvious, and my fave, because of how it follows the pattern is them not overlapping their releases. i thought gg was gonna release the gucci stuff at his usual 10:05 or 10:10 but he didn’t. that’s because wyb had jeanswest release on 10:30. i love how that was given it’s time till 13:00 when gg posted the ad. i’m clowning cause 13 is yizhan! and then 13:20 will be the weibo live for FPU, which was kinda delayed too when it went on. some more materials for GUCCI was released throughout the day but moreso on international platforms.
it’s hilarious cause i saw a hot take from an xz anti before who said he is “afraid” of doing stuff alongside wyb. that is their perception. lol. but i think even if you don’t believe in the whole cp thing, maybe it’s professional courtesy? maybe these two are friends and have this unspoken rule? 🤷🏻‍♀️
tho i was very happy to see them both pop up on my weibo opening screen! and to experience them having these international campaigns, for wyb, lacoste recently— makes me proud. 😌
Tumblr media
a funny cpn from today is this parallel. in a segment at FPU, there was a moment where a fan said jiayou and wyb said cheering is not always necessary. It reminded us of that time xz was told to jiayou when he was about to go to the restroom and he’s like???? why do i have to jiayou???
Tumblr media
oh these two. 😂😂😂
yibo is the resident gremlin who always has a smart ass reply or some savage comeback for you but xz usually doesn’t. but we know what he has that in him too and i wish we could see more of that!
bonus cuteness before we proceed, this edit of them looking like they are doing the choreo for jisoo’s flower 🌸 and they are BP fanboys so it fits!
now some double standards. in the movie channel interview, they were asked where they first met, and wyb couldn’t remember. compare this to how he was with xz! he was always very proactive that they met in ttxs!!!!
Tumblr media
there was also a part where they were asked to give an example of what they wanna learn from each other. and if they communicated to learn. so HJY said street dance and WYB said jiu jitsu but they both weren’t able to learn from each other. in the meantime, wyb taught xz a dance routine 😂😂😂 among other things. i’m sure yibo will be more than happy to help someone out, but i think you have to be at a certain level of closeness to him. or he is really comfortable with you.
this last section is for the beaded bracelet. i think it’s time to discuss it again because this is the 3rd time he is seen with it. so this looks like something personal for him. tho i have to say, you have the coco crush which is both personal and part of him promoting chanel too. i’m invested in this cpn and at the same time frustrated because of the questions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
( p1: him wearing it for the fpu bazaar magazine shoot // p2: worn during the movie channel interview // p3: what so/os are saying is the bracelet not that it matters cause i can clown this too )
1. i hate how no wardrobe accounts have confirmed what it is. and i kinda understand cause we never see it fully, plus there is cpn attached to it so they are extra careful. which is also another source of my frustration. why does he wear it when he has long sleeves on??? he was wearing a shirt earlier and his arms were bare! but wait.. he changed his clothes and as soon as he had something to sort of cover it, the bracelet was on. 💀💀💀💀
it’s like he is purposely clowning us!
2. if this was a jewelry to show off and promote Chanel, why can’t we see it well? and i want to see the change in the beads’ color to confirm if it is what the solos say it is.
i’m also side eyeing international solos who are proudly commenting how wyb’s bracelet is luxury and not some cheap buddha beads like xz’s. what? it’s such an insult to a culture that is important to yibo. those bead bracelets made in specific temples for protection is part of his culture. he knows it’s importance and respects it. but what can i expect from solos really? lol. the bar is already very low when it comes to them but they still manage to disappoint me. 🪦
3. and if it is Chanel, i can still clown by thinking GG bought it for him so they can match. 😂😂😂 atleast with the aesthetic.
bonus: the bone necklace!!!!!
Tumblr media
another bonus, i saw this photo of like a celebration i guess for queen of tears. and the cake! the way the actors are cutting it! lol. reminds of xz and wyb! 😂

wang yibo - straightforward bobo strikes again! 🤣
Q: your character is a sniper, netizens made a meme for you related to snipers, don’t know if you like it or not
WYB: i just wanna ask, would you like it if it were your face?

He did a lot better than I did when I tried it. 😅
I must have watched that video like 20 times because I was so impressed by how well he did it and by the clever way that he incorporated rap and dance to make it easier to focus on the words. Everyone I showed it to had a similar reaction. It is the normal human reaction, in my opinion.
Give it a try yourself if you think you can handle it! 😅
I don't think this is something to get upset about. It's just the XFX doing their dirty work again. They can't stand to watch him be in the spotlight on any level. The reality is almost everyone who watched that video thought he was adorable and creative, and it endeared him to people.
Haters are not talking about Yibo, they are talking about themselves and how rotten they are inside. They are just showing how awful they are. Everyone can see it except them.
this is on hs right now. days ago, there was a similar tag with the first lacoste ad. and it is coming up again because of his lacoste challenge. tho most of it is praise, of course, as things with someone like yibo goes, there will be haters. aside from the usual people who can’t handle how he is living his best life: just finished a highly rated tv drama, a movie to be released may 1st, a new endorsement scheduled to be announced, an international campaign etc. but there is also the side of how some people view a person’s ability to speak english as a sign of absolute intelligence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
p1 shows the reaction i would say of international fans too cause we found it endearing and cute. it’s nothing serious. you can even hear the people in that video cheering for him by the end of it. p2 are the toxic shits who are gagging to find something negative to stick to yibo. i doubt people commenting could even carry a proper conversation in english. or they do and feel superior about themselves — which is tragic. some even boasting about their ielts score lol. i’m dying. ielts is a dumb exam. i’m sorry but it is. you can’t tell me otherwise. and like, it was supposed to be a fun challenge. but i guess most c-netizen’s lives are so sad that they have to make everything a test.
why can’t you all be happy that someone is representing your country in a positive way abroad???? why can’t you all just chill. yibo was in that campaign along with really well known athletes + a brand like lacoste. the jealousy is so strong when it comes to yibo. and they should prepare to cry every night cause it will only go up from here. yibo will continue to succeed. 👑

I think it's likely some combination of the two. Some of it personal belief, and some of it obligation.
Let's try to remember that we're all heavily propagandized to every day about how evil and awful China is, how horrible and oppressive the CCP is, how shoddy and dangerous/toxic their products supposedly are, how meddlesome their government is, etc. etc. - not to mention The Evils of Communism*.
*Although China's brand of communism bears more resemblance to authoritarian capitalism than the Marxist socialism most Westerners would be familiar with.
Given all that, it's not particularly surprising that many fans would express shock, confusion, dismay, disillusionment or disbelief at the idea that DD would hold any loyalty toward his country or government. I see this all the time - people who either think DD's choice of projects must be proof of some dire moral failing on his part, or who completely refuse to believe that he could be capable of consciously, freely choosing these projects (either he's unaware of the evils of the CCP, or he accepts projects under duress).
But if we examine things through a wiser lens, it shouldn't really be surprising at all - nor should it lead us to turn away from DD.
Most people have some degree of patriotism. Our countries are our homelands. We can all see flaws in our nations or the way they're run, but we can also see its redeeming qualities and envision a path forward where things will improve. Our countries are usually inextricably tied to our emotions and experiences and everything that is familiar to us. It's where our friends and families are, and the location of our most cherished memories and sentimentality.
We also grow up acclimated to the values and culture of our homeland and even when we don't agree with all aspects of those ideas, we're usually pretty forgiving and understanding about why they're so popular.
We can all find things about our countries that we take pride in, and ways in which we feel our country is superior to other countries.
This is all very natural and human, and I'd say a near universal experience. Even people who are forced to flee their countries due to oppression, war, famine or violence tend to do so reluctantly and with pain in their hearts for the loss of their homeland.
Context is everything. While a lot of Western fans view these as distasteful propaganda projects, most Chinese actors would likely view it as an honor to be a part of patriotic works that explore the history of their homeland (as, I would add, most American or British or French or whatever actors would view similar opportunities).
And if you flex even a shred of empathy to view DD's projects through a lens of what his perspective might be on such projects - War of Faith, Hidden Blade, Born to Fly - you can easily see a pattern that tells a very different story than a lot of fans have about why he might have chosen them.
All of these projects feature 'unsung heroes' who stick their necks out for their country. War of Faith and Hidden Blade both feature passionate characters who have a deep sense of right and wrong, and who go to great lengths to stand up for what they believe in. All of these characters are 'ordinary men' who are exceptional in their own way, and who use their gifts for the greater good.
And what Chinese boy wouldn't get excited about starring in China's 'Top Gun'? We already know DD is the sort of guy who self-sacrifices for the greater good, often doing stunts without wires to ensure the director can get better shots, missing sleep, working long hours, practising a dance routine dozens of times until it's perfect. Is it really so hard to imagine him connecting with a character that puts his life on the line to help improve fighter jets?
It should be easy to understand why these stories and these characters spoke to DD and captured his interest.
I think we also need to remember that if an actor wants to work in China, these are the types of high profile projects being made. These are the types of projects that are being funded and given the green light by the government. The industry has been struggling globally, and China is no exception.
DD would have to practically be a political dissident to be against doing this type of project, and while we can all think of some dissenting issues he likely has strong convictions about, that's just not DD at all. He's not the sort of person to turn completely away from his country or government.
Fans need to surrender the fantasy that GG and DD are aligned with Western political ideals to the degree we would like. I think we could all benefit from attempting to look at things a bit more through their eyes. These are complex issues, and while it might make us feel righteous, throwing a simplistic hot take out there isn't going to get us any closer to the truth.
It's not easy being a fan of artists who are from a world so different from our own, but if we approach it with curiosity and compassion there is a lot we can learn. There's actually a lot of growth this fandom can give us as individuals.
I'm speaking from firsthand experience. I've learned a lot about my own values and biases, about the ways in which I'm being lied to just as much as GG and DD are being lied to. I've come to accept how different perspectives can be equally valid. I've discovered endless layers of complexity in these issues, and have become quite adept at separating individuals from the BS we're surrounded by.
It's possible to be appropriately critical of the CCP while still fully respecting that there are valid reasons why Chinese people might respect or support it.
We will probably never know for sure where GG and DD stand on these issues. All we can really do is try to be broad-minded and compassionate, and support them in ways that feel right for us.
In response to this post about War of Faith
@isilaie said
Finally someone expresses what I was thinking 🙄 I've got a huge problem with propaganda (from any side) and despite the superb directing and acting this one is so blatant that in another context (or country) it almost could be considered as parody. I love Yibo to pieces but ...I think it started with "faith makes great" that there is a kind of red thread (pun intended) in his choice of roles. His success proves him right of course but ...😔🤷‍♀️
I really wanted to address your comment @isilaie because I think it's important we are all aware of the things that are going on "under the surface" so to speak when we engage with this kind of content. Again, speaking as someone who used to live under a totalitarian communist regime, I'm very aware that whatever "choices" and "freedoms" that people like Yibo enjoy are completely illusory. Especially if we assume from the preponderance of evidence that he's queer - and therefore have to assume that whatever lifestyle he may enjoy is sanctioned by the government - then these choices are even more impacted. We've all seen how quickly c-ent can make someone's career disappear (i.e. Zhang Zhehan) and how quickly the CCP can make PEOPLE disappear (i.e. Fan Bingbing) for not toeing the party line or not sending the right message. The more high profile you are (like Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo), the more scrutinized you are for all your "choices." Plus, we also know that these days you can't get anything past the sensors w/o a healthy dose of Patriotism, and at the end of the day, the project that Yibo might sign up for can end up being something else entirely by the time it hits the screen.
So, the only thing I'm going to judge my beloved son on is making career moves that allow him to grow and develop as an artist - and War of Faith definitely gave him the opportunity to once again stretch his acting chops. And I think his success is due to his radiant talent that turns anything he touches into gold, and not so much due to his "patriotic" project choices, but shit, I'm only slightly biased because I gave birth to him LMAO.
As for War of Faith laying it on so thick that it's almost a parody - you're correct - and I actually said to a friend last night that it's ironic that as I watch the show, the Big Communist Heroes actually come off as fanatical terrorists to me. Hmmmm. Interesting.
(On a funnier note, people have pointed out how incredibly GAY this Comrade Drama is for such blatant propaganda, and that perhaps you needed a heavy dose of one to slip in the other. If that's the case even the tiniest bit, then kudos to Yibo for making another secret BL drama right in front of everyone's salad.)
