Bllk chapter 260 spoilers and MORE Kaiser character analysis below the cut because my hyperfixated brain doesn't want to stop thinking about Kaiser lol someone please save (me) this boy

So.

It's very obvious that Kaiser treated the ball he bought near exactly like the way his dad treated him because that's literally the only way he knows how to express any big emotions.

The way he hugged it near and dear to him already showed us his incredibly codependent relationship he has on soccer. A 12 year old child had codependent relationship on a fucking OBJECT. Because? His dad treated him like one. His dad even thought of his son that way and made that thought painfully aware to Kaiser's face every goddamn day they lived together. Kaiser saw the ball as the same as he saw himself. I'm never getting over that detail.

The soccer ball represents so much. I'm getting emotional over this actually when I think deeper about the headspace Kaiser may have been in, reaching deep into my own experiences to enpathize(?). The soccer ball was the first thing that helped Kaiser feel alive. It was the first, and only, thing that reminded Kaiser that he is alive.

The act of doing something for yourself as the first act of rebellion (as it says in the manga) against your parent(s) whom you know you loathe but could not do anything about, let alone escape because of the mentality you've been beaten into (literally or figuratively) is something unforgettable. It already made sense why Kaiser got so riled up when his dad threatened to destroy the ball with the broken bottle he bashed over Kaiser's head just moments ago.

It's entirely understandable for me (and perhaps other readers too) that Kaiser would lose his shit over that threat because that ball was HIS, his only possession, his only thing that gave his life meaning at that point. There's only so much he could put up with, and it's incredible to see Kaiser react so strongly to that.

After a life of being so abused, being told every day that you're hated, don't deserve to live, etc, that trauma becomes a part of you in a way that affects every single thing you do. The way he presents himself in the current timeline screams 'fake it till you make it' and heavy repression of emotions.

Then, we see Ness walk in on Kaiser one late night, and he's choking himself. We now know that it's because he would rather die than be made aware that he is trash at the one thing that saved his life (especially by others jn the way he continuously tells Ness to shut up because Ness doesnt know what hes saying is triggering Kaiser). I do wonder how often his SH happens or relapses, but that moment could be the first time Kaiser relapsed since he was 'rescued.'

If I really break it down, Kaiser knows that he created this situation and is aware that Isagi has exceeded his expectations to the point he chokes himself with how incredibly hard he is on himself for losing to Isagi. He would rather die than be one-upped by someone he believed, with his entire being, was possible to defeat.

During this PXG match, I think he's struggling to keep thinking this way. He's desperate. I have thoughts about Ray Dark (PIFA) having beef with the JFU and Blue Lock, which makes me wonder if Kaiser (is being used) was tasked with destroying Blue Lock's hope: Isagi Yoichi. Because Isagi isn't as easy to destroy like Kaiser thought... here we are.

More details to his story are yet to be revealed, but if one of Kaiser's ultimatums is being sent home, permanently, with any career in soccer blocked due to his failure, Kaiser would rather die than face that reality. If I were Kaiser, I would feel the same way.

Soccer saved Kaiser. Kaiser's attachment to soccer will never change as long as he lives. His ego is so fragile and glass-like that any threat to it will break him, destroy him, and leave him hopeless because now we know, without soccer, Michael Kaiser has nothing. He believes that without soccer, he is nothing. Without soccer, Kaiser's identity, his "proof of existence," will cease to exist, along with him.

Does Ness know?

It's safe to say that he doesn't. That Kaiser just gave him a vague glimpse in to his past with "I was mentally weak person" quote. Saying this was probably really hard for Kaiser, opening up to someone like that even if you don't explain everything requires a lot of trust and strength and Ness would never pressure Kaiser into doing anything, especially something that makes him uncomfortable.

But Ness is a smart guy.

They know each other for a long time. I'm sure there were signs something is off. Ness as someone who also has difficult relationship with his parents would notice those signs but for that same reason he wouldn't ask questions. He probably had his own assumptions just like we had before chapter 260 but he never saw the full picture.

But what if Ness found out?

What if he heard from someone what happened at Kaiser's house? What if Kaiser eventually told him during a breakdown or something? What if he acts the way he does around Kaiser because he knows? Never saying no, degrading their opponents and saying they were lucky so Kaiser doesn't feel bad when he looses (to people like Isagi for example) and constantly praising him, telling him how amazing and great and smart he is. What if that was the reason Ness became more of a Kaiser's follower than a friend? In the flashback, when we see them becoming close they look more or less like friends, equals, teammates who want to take the world of football by storm. Now Ness lets Kaiser walk all over him without complaining.

What if he cares so much and wants to see Kaiser happy but doesn't know a healthy way to do it so he ended up in this weird, codependent, toxic friendship?

Just a thought...

Happy (belated) Pride! There's nothing quite like the feeling when you realise you've got an ally in someone, especially when you've spent so long walking on eggshells.
